NFL news...

Peyton Manning has been activated from the physically to perform(PUP)list,by the Colts,today-one step closer to playing opening week, against the Houston Texans...

NFL news...

the soap opera that is the Chicago Bears is beginning... Lance Briggs wants a new contract, with three years left(he signed a six year $36 million contract),and with linebackers around the NFL getting more money,he wants to re-negotiate his contract,or will demand to be traded, after this season, and Chester Taylor is very unhappy about not playing, after 10 years,in NFL,even though an injury to another running back did not move him off the bench... what a carousel of angry football players!!!!!!!! i love it... (HATE DA BEARS!!!!!)...

NFL news...

Peyton Manning does believe that he will be ready for season opener,on September 11th,against the Houston Texans...

commentary...

i believe that the Packers' offense is not razor sharp, but besides the jumbled-up offensive line, being a work in progress(they will sort things out by end of training camp),but Aaron Rodgers is at near top form, for being in training camp, and is ready for game against New Orleans,on September 8th... the defensive front seven is very good, but the defensive backfield is just starting to gel,as an unit(it takes repetitions, with whole group, and the first unit has just begun to be together, after only two exhibition games)... i was happier last year, but i am learning on how to look at a game like a coach,so i am satisfied, but never happy... it should be a very good season, but i am not insane to tell you that they are better than last year... on paper, they are very strong, and have a very good team, but games need to be played to tell me how good the Packers are... bring on NFL!!!!!!!!!

Friday, August 26, 2011

commentary...

the rest of the Packers' team picked up Aaron Rodgers, and eleven points in the last two minutes, along with a gutsy onside kick, gave Packers a 24-21 win... the fact that the Colts' defense gave up two personal fouls(one for taunting)back to back, gave the Packers 30 yards on final touchdown drive, did the Colts in,because it gave the Packers a really good chance to tie the game, and the best call in the exhibition season,by far, with an excellent onside kick,by Mason Crosby, and finally the "dagger",in the game,a 50 yard winning field goal... the only phase of team that has had a poor training camp, overall,is the offensive line, and the first unit has been inconsistent, and tonight, played like they had been standing still in the trenches... they did stink tonight... expect Mike McCarthy to chew everybody out....

commentary...

offensive line(Chad Clifton, and Josh Sitton)have allowed three sacks,on Aaron Rodgers, and a holding call negated a touchdown, along with a blown coverage on defense that allowed Colts to walk into end zone, have allowed Indianapolis into game... oops,i forgot that Mason Crosby missed a field goal,too... everybody, but Rodgers, must have been reading their press clippings, because the Packers have stunk up the place,on defense, and the offensive line play has been horrendous throughout training camp, and has been totally offensive,tonight... the running game, and receivers have been good throughout the game, and special teams have been good, but not spectacular, not allowing a big runback,as of halftime... Mike McCarthy will chew on some Packers' rear ends, after game, especially the offensive line, which if they play against New Orleans, the way they played tonight,Rodgers will be pounded into Lambeau Field turf, like a tent peg, which would embarrassing to Packers' fans, and unacceptable to the team... at least,i am an equal opportunity team ripper...

unique NFL history...

on December 28,2008,the Packers set NFL history,by having two 100 yard receivers, and two 100 yard rushers,in same game, against Detroit... Ryan Grant and DeShawn Wynn both had 106 rushing yards, and Donald Driver had 111 receiving yards, along with Greg Jennings, who had 101 receiving yards

Packers' news...

Packers have asked permission for a stock sale from the NFL,as one option,to finance expansion,of Lambeau Field... no comment from NFL,yet...

Packers' news...

Green Bay Packers plan to expand Lambeau Field,by 6,600 seats,by 2013... Wisconsin taxpayers will get a break, because team will fund expansion,by itself, maybe by stock sale? would love to own Packers' stock... to tell you how popular the Packers are, there is a 81,000 person waiting list, for season tickets... WHAT A LIST!!!!!!!!!

NFL news...

Tennesse Titans' Chris Johson and the Titans met today on a contract extension,to make him the highest-paid running back, and he is refusing to attend training camp, without a new contract, even though he has lost a year on accrued free agency, and has two more years on his rookie contract... on his resume,a 2,000+ yard season rushing the football, hence his nickname,"CJ2K"... his agent, and him being a real bonehead in not being in camp, does not help his cause,at all... GET IN CAMP,AND GET NEW CONTRACT,CHRIS,and please shut up!!!!!!!!

person of class...

i know that this is a football blog, but this is of note:Tennessee Volunteers' basketball coach Pat Summitt was told by doctors,at Mayo Clinic, that she has early onset dementia... in 37 seasons,at Tennessee, she has won over 1,000 games, more than any coach, male,or female,in collegiate history... to me,she is Tennessee Volunteers' basketball... that is reason i noted it as basketball coach... she started in 1975,at Tennessee, when no one else wanted the job,and now she is the face of college basketball,in Tennessee, and when you beat a team of Pat Summitt's,you coached against a legend, and someone who showed class,on and off the court, and no one outworked Ms. Summitt... may she coach until she can not coach anymore, like she wants to,and to tell you the truth, nobody will want to play Tennessee, this season, because everyone on the team will try to win for her, this season...

NFL news...

Oakland Raiders select former Ohio State Buckeyes' quarterback,Terrelle Pryor,in NFL supplemental draft... Raiders' owner Al Davis is just wacky, because almost everybody expected Davis to draft Pryor...

here we go... Favre Watch? oh no........

Indianapolis Colts' owner Robert Irsay tweeted that he is in Hattiesburg,Mississippi, looking for retired quarterback Brett Favre... the Colts are looking at fact that Peyton Manning may not be ready for the regular season,so they may want Favre to fill in for Manning,NFL.com reported... so we will find out what is happening... Brett Favre has repeatedly said that he has no interest in playing football...

great news...

Philadelphia Eagles' defensive tackle Mike Patterson(USC Trojan-class of 2005) has returned to practice, for the Eagles, whether he plays,or not,may be up to doctors, but i am happy that he is back at practice...

commentary...

Packers played last night:Aaron Rodgers had three drives, two went nowhere, but had a 78 yard drive, and a beautiful touchdown pass to Greg Jennings... Matt Flynn was inconsistent,as second string, but had a touchdown drive, late in the first half... Graham Harrell was very good in fourth quarter... i am writing this as the replay of game is on NFL network,so i am going to stop until end of game,so i can comment on Harrell's work, but they need to work on offensive line work, and special teams, because they gave up two sacks,on Rodgers, and two on Flynn(and he fumbled ball, but football was recovered, but punted away,in third quarter),and they fumbled opening kickoff,in second half(actually guy was stripped of football),but McCarthy should not be totally happy, with the team... offensive line gave up five sacks, last game, which sucked... early in fourth quarter,Flynn threw a 97 yard touchdown pass to Chastain West, but overall,he was inconsistent, with the second, and third string, and Harrell drove them to winning eleven play-eighty four yard drive, that took 5:29,off the clock, looked good as third string quarterback

Packers' score...

Green Bay 1-1,in preseason,after a 28-20 win,over the Arizona Cardinals,tonight...

NFL news...

the NCAA is very happy that the NFL is suspending former Ohio State Buckeye Terrelle Pryor, five games(the same penalty the NCAA slapped on him, when Ohio State got caught, with illegal benefits, from its players),in allowing him to enter the supplemental draft, this season... NFLPA will not appeal that decision, because Pryor's family does not want to appeal that decision...

Thursday, August 18, 2011

commentary...

Charles Woodson and the rest of the Green Bay Packers are feeling disrespected... the pundits are saying that Darrelle Revis,Nnamdi Asomugha, and others, are better than Woodson, and on the NFL Network's "Top 100 Players of 2011",they did rank seven Packers on the list(most of any NFL team)but no one in top ten... Aaron Rodgers, was number 11,and fourth on the quarterback list, behind Tom Brady(New England Patriots),Peyton Manning(Indianapolis Colts)(number one,and two, respectively)but Drew Brees(New Orleans Saints)was number nine... i deeply disagree with that listing, because it shows the team, and to the fans, that the pundits do not think much,of the Packers, when they dubbed the Philadelphia Eagles,"the dream team"... what a real slap,in the face,of the Packers!!!!!!!!

Packers' news...

Arizona Cardinals play Green Bay Packers, tomorrow night,at Lambeau Field, for their second preseason game...

NFL news...

New York Giants' quarterback Eli Manning says that he is in same class as New England Patriots' quarterback Tom Brady.... what a real laugher... Brady has won three Super Bowls, has been in four Super Bowls, and is a future Hall of Fame member... Manning's brother,Peyton,is also a future Hall of Famer, winning one Super Bowl, and Eli may have won one Super Bowl, beating Brady, and the Patriots, but honestly if David Tyree does not make that catch, holding football next to helmet,Manning does not win anything, but getting to the Super Bowl, but to tell the football world that he is in same tier of quarterback,as Tom Brady, makes him a laughingstock,in NFL,and makes me feel that he has inflated ego,of himself...

Tuesday, August 16, 2011

NFL news...

NFL.com has a video of Ndamukong Suh,of the Detroit Lions, taking down a Cincinnati Bengals' rookie(Andy Dalton) to the ground, without a helmet... he got flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct, and now, pundits is questioning whether he is a "dirty" player... i normally do not say anything about NFL rough play, but honestly the takedown was not as bad as it looked, and to tell me that Suh is a dirty player,is absolutely moronic...

Monday, August 15, 2011

NFL news...

During the Chicago Bears game, over the weekend, the Bears' coaching staff defied the new rule,of kicking off from the 35 yard line,by putting it on the 30,not once, but twice, saying to evaluate their kickoff team... they were one of six teams to vote against the rule change... the NFL had to call Soldier Field to tell them,"to put an end to it" ... what a scummy excuse to pull something like that... way to go,Bears!!!!!!!!! (laughing)

Packers' news...

Green Bay Packers' tight end,Jermichael Finley will play some next week,Mike McCarthy,Packers' coach,reported....

Saturday, August 13, 2011

commentary...

the offensive line overall needs work,or maybe it was the fact that it was second, and third string playing in second half that sours me,but Cleveland's winning points came on a sack of Graham Harrell(Packers' third string quarterback),his fumble, and a 43 yard fumble return,by Cleveland, late in third quarter... it is the first preseason game,i know, but the Packers' first, and even second, string looked very good playing football... i should be happy that they played a solid and, yet, workmanlike first half, showing what they can do on offense... if i was Mike McCarthy,i would be happy with the first half,on offense, and little unhappy with the overall defensive effort, and special teams would be a concern, with that first punt coverage(a 21 yard return),but happy with a 59 yard punt,by Tim Masthay(outkicked his coverage),but it is the opening game of preseason, and it is time for football,finally...

first football post of season...

i love talking football, finally:Aaron Rodgers drove team 73 yards to a touchdown, and Matt Flynn did him one better, driving team 89 yards,in two minute drill,at end of half,as the Packers' offense looks very good, and Ryan Grant pounded out some very good runs(in first play, since opening week,in 2010),and the Packers' defense have a few players not playing, like Charles Woodson, who does look like he is very good shape... he was running around before game, but like the Patriots' Tom Brady,he has not played tonight, but should play next week...

White House visit...

Green Bay Packers went to see President Obama, and the president was presented with a Packers' jersey, and now is a minority owner,in the Packers, now that he has shares in team... unfortunately,he is a huge fan of the Chicago Bears...

Packers' news...

many pundits have said that the Packers are the best team in NFL,before the preseason even starts... however,i am being more realistic... on paper, they are a playoff team, and that is all i will say about them... it is way too early,to tell how the Packers,or any other team will do,this season... when i watch Saturday's night preseason game,i will look at the time that both Aaron Rodgers, and Matt Flynn play, and how the defense, and special teams play, and that is it... the important games start, against New Orleans, opening week(Thursday,September 8th),to open up the 2011 NFL season...

Wednesday, August 10, 2011

NFL history...

the 2010 Green Bay Packers were the only team in NFL history never to trail by seven points,at any time,in the regular season,or in the playoffs...

NFL news...

to tell you how NFL injury reports were last year,it was reported that throughout the second half of last season that Packers' linebacker Clay Matthews had a shin injury,it was reported today, however, that he actually had a lower leg stress fracture(broken leg),but he played with it throughout most of the second half of season(missed one game),and the playoffs... what a real stud!!!!!!!!!

Tuesday, August 9, 2011

football news...

for what it is worth(a pile of pure hooey),ESPN ranked the Green Bay Packers number one in preseason power rankings, among NFL teams... i do only care about who wins Super Bowl XLVI...

funny story...

Chicago Bears' chairman George McCaskey, has told his players who want artificial turf,at Soldier Field to basically to "go pound sand"... just thought you needed a laugh...

Packers' news...

NFL news...

Philadelphia Eagles' wide receiver DeSean Jackson ended his holdout,to accrue a full year, for his position,to be a free agent, for 2012-2013... today was the deadline for any free agent to be accrued a full year,so Jackson had to report today,or lose a full year,of NFL service, according to their contracts, and the new CBA...

blogs update...

as a side note of both my blogs:i have written 1,608 blog posts,on both blogs;1,007,on my hockey blog, and now,601 blogs on my football blog... you may wonder why only 601 posts,on this blog? part of the reason was the 136 day NFL lockout, which gave me only trivia to write about, but i honestly did try to give you at least a fact,a story,or a laugh, every day...

surprising news...

Philadelphia Eagles have said that defensive tackle Mike Patterson could be cleared to be at practice,Friday, for "football related activity",and could be ready for opening game, against the St. Louis Rams,on September 11th

a story of hope, and love of football...

ever hear of Luke Akerstrom? probably not,he is a six year old Jacksonville Jaguars' fan,who suffered unexpectedly from a rare form of encephalitis that put him in a wheelchair, last New Year's Eve... he had to walk again!!!!!!! he told his mother that he had to walk,"because Jaguars don't roll, they run"... well,Brad Meester(Jacksonville Jaguars' center),and his family met him at Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital, earlier this year, and struck up a friendship with him... earlier this training camp,he walked FIVE STEPS into Meester's arms,"because Jaguars do not roll, they run"....

NFL news...

there have been reports out of Miami that Tony Sparano(Dolphins' coach) would not rule out asking Brett Favre back for a 21st season... Favre told the Miami Herald reporter that,"i have no interest in coming back..." he looked like a quarterback who was "walking slowly, and gingerly, and not a man getting ready for football...",according to the Miami Herald reporter... i honestly believe that Sparano, who has major inexperience, and trouble,at starting quarterback, this pre-season,is just blowing smoke up everyone's rear end,in bringing up Brett Favre,to the media... what a season for the fans,of the Dolphins, awaiting them... UGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

NFL news...

it is official:NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, and NFLPA head DeMaurice Smith sign collective bargaining agreement, for 10 years of labor peace,no opting out of CBA,by either side....

classy story,and a cheap car...

when secondary coach Ray Horton left Pittsburgh to become Arizona Cardinals' defensive coordinator,he asked Maurice "Mo" Matthews,a cafeteria worker for the Steelers, how much money he had and that he needed a favor... Matthews said that he had $20,then Horton dropped a bombshell on Matthews,he said,"Sold, for $20."... what did Matthews buy? a red 1999 Mercedes SL500 convertible roadster... he was stunned, and Horton said ."you are a good dude.... you have always liked the car,and that you will take care of it... it's yours..." when Horton left for Arizona the next day,Matthews drove Horton to airport, and had the title, and proper paperwork,to transfer ownership of the car... all for $20...

injury update...

Philadelphia Eagles' defensive tackle Mike Patterson has been released from Lehigh Valley Hospital, after seizure, and is consulting more than one doctor, about what he was told about arteriovenous malformation(AVM)... Eagles have said that he may not play this season...

Thursday, August 4, 2011

NFL news... BREAKING NEWS...

NFL collective bargaining agreement(CBA)has been ratified by the players, finally, meaning all free agents can practice with all teams...

sad news...

Philadelphia Eagles' defensive tackle Mike Patterson(out of USC Trojans,in 2005) has been told he has arteriovenous malformation of the brain,a tangling of blood vessels up near the skull... it can be treated successfully, but whether he plays football is up to the doctors... the condition caused a four minute seizure,in which he was knocked out cold, for a time, during it...

Lombardi trivia...

to tell you how good a coach Lombardi was,he actually won a state boy's basketball championship,at St. Cecelia High School,in Englewood,New Jersey... funny thing is that he knew nothing about basketball, and he used a 20 year old textbook,as his "Bible",that season... as their assistant, and then their head football coach, they won six straight parochial state football titles, and actually won 32 straight games, and was assistant coach, under Red Blaik(legendary Army head coach),from 1949-1953...

football news...

i am watching the HBO special on Vince Lombardi... hate to admit, they did it well...

commentary...

before you may think that the Packers have done very little,in free agency(they have not signed any unrestricted free agent),you tend to forget that they have fifteen major players coming off injured reserve, this spring,so,even though, they may have stood still,in free agency, they should be fine, because the starting running back from opening game,in 2010(Ryan Grant)is running around camp rather healthy, and their best wide receiver(Jermichael Finley)is near 100%,and with Charles Woodson healed up from broken collarbone(Super Bowl injury),the defense will be hungry to prove that last year was no fluke, and with Aaron Rodgers fully recovered from concussion, and with him,at helm of the Packers' offense, the Packers will defend their Super Bowl championship, with gusto....

another Packer in the family....

a little late on this:it happened last week.Mike McCarthy, and his wife welcomed a new baby girl,Isabella Conroy McCarthy, last Thursday night... congrats,Coach McCarthy!!!!!!

Randy Moss,no more...
