Packers' news...

Packers' tight end Jermichael Finley is supposed to be cleared for contact, after spinal fusion surgery, within a month... he is an unrestricted free agent this off-season,but he says the Packers will not get a "hometown" discount from him,if he re-signs with the Packers...i guess that he wants to test free agency... good luck,Jermichael...

commentary...

i honestly do not care about who wins in the Super Bowl...i do not like either team... i just want a good game... two weeks ago,the weather was supposed to be crappy, but right now:41 degrees, with slight wind... it should benefit quarterback Peyton Manning the most, during the game, but i simply do not care... NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in the his "State of the NFL" speech today,in New York said that an expansion of the playoff field, from twelve to fourteen teams has "a bunch of benefits",along with an expanded instant replay, somewhat like the NHL,with the "War Room",in Toronto... both are still under consideration,by the NFL... honestly, who gives a hoot, and whit, about that stuff...

Packers' news...

Packers' linebacker Clay Matthews had the pins removed from his injured thumb last week... rehab has started for Matthews...

commentary...

how do you stop an offense that averaged almost thirty eight(37.875)points a game, with a quarterback who threw for 5,477 passing yards, and 55 touchdowns,in a season, after the quarterback had four neck surgeries, missed an entire season, and then had a season to remember... how do you stop a defense that allowed only just under fifteen points a game, from devastating your offense... the keys for the Denver Broncos' offense is to have Peyton Manning dissect the Seahawks' vaunted "Legion of Boom" defense with crisp, short, and accurate passes, mixed in with running the football... the key to the Seattle Seahawks offense is to have Marshawn "Beast Mode" Lynch rush the ball at least twenty five times, and have Russell Wilson mix in some accurate passing, exposing the suspect Broncos' pass defense... it seems like opposite game plans for the two teams, and basically it is... the team who honestly forces more turnovers usually wins, but both teams can overcome turnovers to win the game, depending when the turnover happens... offensively,Denver has the major edge, and defensively,Seattle has the edge, ever so slightly, with that very good defensive backfield... can Seattle out-score Denver in a basic Wild West shootout??? i do not think so.... can Denver win a major dogfight(close game) with Seattle??? yes,if Manning does not get rattled by the Seahawks' pass rush,or does not turn the football over, but depending when, and if the turnover happens, both teams can win the game... interesting game,it will be,Sunday...

commentary...

honestly,Super Bowl XLVIII is not a game that i am not too pumped up about... i "despise" the Seattle Seahawks, and the fact that they are playing the Denver Broncos,in a ice box,at Met Life Stadium, does not thrill me... over the last week,i have heard a lot of hype about the game, and simply have turned the tripe off... it is a game between an offense,in the Broncos, who scored a NFL record 606 points, and a defense,in the Seahawks, who allowed 231 points in the regular season-the widest point difference in NFL history, between teams in a championship game... offensively, the Broncos have the edge, and Peyton Manning, who threw for 55 touchdowns, and 5,477 passing yards-both NFL records-(and did not play the second half,in week seventeen, when the Broncos were up,31-0,on the Oakland Raiders),and the pundits are comparing the Seahawks' defense to the best defensive units in NFL history... what a bunch of manure on that simple fact... they are also comparing the Broncos' offense to the best in the NFL history... again, what manure... trivia:what team in the Super Bowl scored the most points in a Super Bowl??? hint:it is not "Da Bears",in 1985,when they beat the New England Patriots,46-10(the Patriots were actually up,3-0,at one point in that game) drumroll, please!!! answer:the 1989 San Francisco 49ers,who beat the Broncos,55-10,in a game that the 49ers scored 48 unanswered points...

i know that i should be previewing the Super Bowl on Sunday... however i need to ease up until,at least,tonight... i bruised my left forearm, because i tripped over a shoe, and arm hit bedroom bookcase, but i will be just fine... hopefully,by tomorrow,i will be up to snuff, and start previewing the "Big Game"... i just really do not like the big hype about the Super Bowl, because most of it is a bunch of tripe,period...

movie trivia...

as a change of pace:name the only sequel ever to win Best Picture??? answer:this is a two part answer:the Godfather won in 1972 for Best Picture, and then in 1974 the Godfather,Part II won Best Picture...

correction....

there is a correction to my all time quarterbacks' list.... i meant Norm Van Brocklin, instead of Y.A. Tittle... oops,folks... he was the only quarterback to beat the Packers under Vince Lombardi,in the NFL playoffs, when the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Packers,17-13,in the 1960 NFL Championship game,at Franklin Field,in Philadelphia...

Super Bowl trivia...

what do Tom Brady,Kurt Warner,Dan Marino, and Peyton Manning have in common??? they are the four quarterbacks,in NFL history, who led NFL in passing yards, and touchdown passes in the same season that they led their respective teams to the Super Bowl... the previous three quarterbacks lost their Super Bowls by a combined score of 75-47... Tom Brady lost to the New York Giants,in 2007(Super Bowl XLII,17-14),Kurt Warner lost to the New England Patriots,in 2001(Super Bowl XXVI,20-17),and Dan Marino lost to the San Francisco 49ers(Super Bowl XIX,38-16)... what will Manning do???

ranking the best quarterbacks...

i am ranking my all-time top quarterbacks:1)Joe Montana,2)Otto Graham,3)Sammy Baugh,4)Dan Marino,5)Terry Bradshaw,6)Bart Starr,7)Roger Staubach,8)Norm Van Brocklin,9)Warren Moon(i am including his time in the CFL-the only passer, with 70,000+ passing yards),10)(tie)Tom Brady, and Peyton Manning(still active)... where is Brett Favre, you may ask??? answer:there are too many top quarterbacks to rank Favre in top ten,and you may disagree with inclusion of Moon, but for a guy who was not drafted by the NFL,out of the University of Washington, and to go the CFL route, and win five straight Grey Cups, with the Edmonton Eskimos,is,and was,too impressive to pass up on my list... by the way,if you disagree with me,i simply do not care about your opinion, and i am a true pro football fan, with my list...

to my memories of my grandfather...

i was reminded by my family that today was my grandfather Ray's birthday(Walter Raymond Shaw,Sr.)... he died in 1966 from complications of a stroke... this is difficult to put words into my mouth... i do not remember much of him... i do remember one thing that he said, but the exact words escape me at this time, but it was something like he loved me,or he was proud of me... one of the reasons that it has escaped me is that our family is not real good in expressing our feelings,as a family, but i am very, very honored to have his middle name as my middle name... someone in the family said to me one time that i had some of his mannerisms, and if that is true,i am very lucky to really know that... i really wish that he would have lived longer,so that i could have known him more than just memories... to my dearly departed grandfather,i tip my hat,for showing the family true class

blog statement...

to tell you, folks,i will preview the Super Bowl, between the Seattle Seahawks, and Denver Broncos, starting tomorrow... however,to tell the truth,(for what it is worth)the Broncos will be the "home" team,in the Super Bowl...

justice gone wrong...

in a case that reminds us that famous people get off with a slap on the wrist(famous people seem to have a different justice system than the rest of us),former Dallas Cowboy defensive back Josh Brent was convicted of intoxication manslaughter in the car crash that killed former teammate Jerry Brown... his punishment:180 days in jail, and 10 years probation... he could, and should, have received 20 years in prison... what a real joke of a punishment... he pegged .180 on the breathalyzer...

NFL news...

Cleveland Browns hired former Buffalo Bills' defensive coordinator Mike Pettine,as their new head coach...

Thursday, January 23, 2014

commentary...

i want to clarify something about Seahawks' cornerback Richard Sherman... i am not a fan of his behaviour on the field,no doubt, but having a Richard Sherman on the field is a plus, because he is so intense... he grew up in Compton,California(not a great place to grow up),got straight A's in high school, went to Stanford, and graduated near the top of his class, and is one smart dude,period... he was a fifth round draft pick, for the Seahawks, and worked hard to be a top cornerback,in the NFL... i have figured one thing out about him:he must be laughing at what he is saying to the media, because they are eating up everything he is saying,,, i may not like his antics, but of his talent,i am a definite fan,period...

blog statement...

taking a few days off... with the Super Bowl ten days away,i really do not want to talk blah blah about the Super Bowl, day after day,or talk about Richard Sherman over and over, but i will preview the game starting on Saturday,or Sunday... until then,it will be trivia time...

NFL news,and comments...

the Detroit Lions hired Joe Lombardi,as their new offensive coordinator... yeah, that is right,it is Vince Lombardi's grandson, but to tell the truth, the Lions do not need help with their offense, but with their defensive backfield, which is their weak link... they may believe that hiring the grandson of a coaching legend will help their team, and it may help, but what they need is the genuine article... unfortunately, for the Lions,a grandson of Saint Vince will not help their real bad defensive backfield... honestly, they are trying to make headlines, and that is too bad...

comment...

Seahawks' cornerback Richard Sherman is simply a pure jerk, and a punk for the comments after the NFC Championship game, about 49ers' receiver Michael Crabtree, and his immature gesture towards him, during the game(a choking gesture)... i wonder if the NFL will fine him for his actions....

NFC and AFC Championship game scores...

Patriots/Broncos matchup...

now,for the New England Patriots/Denver Broncos AFC Championship game... stats:in the fourteen games played between Tom Brady, and Peyton Manning,it is Brady:10 wins,Manning:4 wins... New England won the last game between the teams,in game,34-31,in overtime, because a punt hit off a Broncos' player, and was recovered by the Patriots, putting the Patriots basically in field goal range... in the Patriots' win against the Indianapolis Colts, last week,Tom Brady did not throw a touchdown pass, but the Patriots' running attack rushed for six touchdowns(LaGarrette Blount had four rushing touchdowns)... the Patriots' defense can be had over the top, except for Aqib Talib, who may be the best shutdown cornerback,in the NFL... the fact that head coach Bill Belichick, and quarterback Tom Brady,is in New England,is the reason that the Patriots are in the AFC Championship game, because of factors that had nothing to do,with New England, the Patriots lost about 75% of their receiving corps from last season(total receiving yards),so even though the Patriots have won three Super Bowls, this season may have been Belichick's finest coaching job... this season:Peyton Manning had a great year:55 touchdowns, and a NFL RECORD 5,477 passing yards... both team defenses can be had over the top,and with these two passers,it could be a shootout... Brady,in the West Coast offensive style, and Manning going for the throat when possible,or is it the other way around??? that is very possible... both Brady, and Manning, are Hall of Fame caliber passers, and both have the killer instinct, when possible... i have watched most of the fourteen games, between the quarterbacks, and they are both great players... Denver has more offense, and New England has Belichick,Brady, and a bunch of no-names,on offense, and a hard-hitting defense, especially in the defensive backfield,so this will be an interesting game to watch...

49ers/Seahawks matchup...

sorry, folks,i am blah about tomorrow conference championship games... they will be interesting to watch, and i will preview them later tonight, but right now,i really do not care about the games... well, forget that.... let me get going on this:first,San Francisco plays at Seattle... the last two games that the 49ers have played, they got stomped 42-13,in 2012,and 29-3,in 2013... what makes you believe that anything will be different this time??? both teams are very good, and the 49ers have a little more offense, than Seattle,on paper, but for some reason the Seahawks' defense seems to know how to play Colin Kaepernick,by keeping in the pocket, and not allowing him to run too far,and hitting anything that moved on defense... rattle the 49ers' receivers(be physical),and they tend not to go all out after passes... rattle Kaepernick,by not allowing him too much room to really use his speed in devastating fashion... the Seahawks' defensive backfield is perhaps the best, overall,in the NFL... for the 49ers,the keys will be ground and pound, using Frank Gore,to open the 49ers' potent passing attack, using Michael Crabtree, and Anquan Boldin to open up lanes for passing, and then Kaepernick can run to the team's delight... both defenses are rough and tough, but the key for the Seahawks' offense is running back Marshawn "Beast Mode" Lynch, who are one of the best running backs in the NFL:contain him,and force quarterback Russell Wilson to beat you with his arm... however, remember 71-16,in last two games,in Seattle, and never forget the "12th man",where Seattle are 15-1,in last sixteen home games... it will be interesting to watch....

NFL news,and comments...

Seattle Seahawks' wide receiver Percy Harvin has been ruled out for Sunday's NFC Championship game... even though,he would have been a plus for Seattle,on Sunday, his presence in the Seahawks' lineup has been very little, because of a hip operation, and soreness in said hip throughout the season... he has only played in one game in the regular season, besides the concussion that he suffered against the New Orleans Saints, late in the first half,in the divisional round, last weekend...

blog statement...

too nice a day to do blogging, but i will be back... i will preview both Championship games, maybe tonight,or tomorrow morning... you will be surprised with what i will say...

commentary...

i deeply respect every team that is still are in the playoffs, but i will root for the San Francisco 49ers over the Seattle Seahawks, because i do not like Seahawks' head coach Pete Carroll, for many reasons;one being the way he left USC,and still proclaiming the fact that he had no idea about the scandal that involved Reggie Bush, the lost scholarships, and the multi year probation that doomed USC to also-ran status for years, while he snaked off to a multi year deal in Seattle, and then flaunting his so-called "ignorance" of the scandal... what a real piece of work, and a weasel!!!!!!

Robert James Shaw,and me....

at this peculiar moment,i am listening to country music... right now,Shania Twain,by the way... i want to talk about someone who i really do not talk about too much... my dear uncle Bob,who died fifteen years ago,i believe, this week:UNC,always to my family... who gave him that nickname? yours truly... to me,he was UNC(capital letters,always)... he was the "black sheep" of the family, like me,but he was dearly loved, and a real character... he and i went to see Muhammad Ali beat George Foreman, closed circuit, and we enjoyed the fight... we were roommates twice in our lifetimes:first time did not end too well, because i was a total moron, and really treated him like dirt, and i have to admit that i deserved what he gave me:a boot out the door... the second time i learned my tough lesson from the time before... one time,he came home from work really pissed, full of piss and vinegar, and ready for a fight... well,i refused to argue with him,and told him that i was going into my room and read some Tom Clancy... well, about two hours later,he knocked, walked in,and told me that he was very proud of me,and that i had grown up... well,he was a superior cribbage player that actually told me that he could not find a game in the state of Washington, one time... he was a free spirit, loved his life, and did things that were very unusual... two things that i want to mention about him:he would save nickels, dimes, and quarters, and then challenge me to a penny ante poker game... one time,i won fourteen dollars, and then the next time we played,he beat the snot out of me,winning about twenty dollars, all in nickels, dimes, and quarters... the last time i saw him, before he died,he and i sat down and played cribbage... we played six games, all of them went down to the last point of the game... i lost five of the six games, but the amount of total points i lost by were an amazing twenty one... i have never played better, and UNC actually had to break a sweat,to beat me,and his game were his best in his life... i deeply miss those games, and i miss him every day,and every time i play cribbage,i feel him right there in the game... NO DOUBT,UNC!!!!!!!!!! 15 for two!!!!!

NFL news...

Minnesota Vikings hired former Cincinnati Bengals' defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer,as their new head coach... New York Giants hired former Packers' quarterbacks coach Ben McAdoo,as their offensive coordinator... Aaron Rodgers told him that he would give his new NFL club a great recommendation... good luck,Ben...

RIP Mae Young...

i want to talk about a person that i never met,but watched with humor and delight over the last 20 years... her name was Johnnie Mae Young... she was an original WWF/WWE diva, starting her wrestling career in 1938,and entertaining the "folks" for close to eight decades... she used to show up every so often on WWE programming giving wrestlers, from the Great Khali,a 7'4" freak of nature,to WWE Chairman Vince McMahon,to sloppy kisses that made them like they enjoyed them, with lipstick all over their mouths... however, one time during a PPV(pay per view),they had a bikini contest, and she was the last contestant(at this time, she was about seventy five years old,or even close to eighty years old),and before the segment had ended, she had won the contest,by doing something(showing her "puppies")that had to be censored... the look on Jerry "the King" Lawler's face was absolutely priceless... last March,on her 90th birthday, the WWE celebrated her birthday on national television,by giving a big cake to her... outside WWE,she was dearly loved, and will be dearly missed by her friends, and her fans,in which i was one...

NFL,and retired players' concussion lawsuit update...

a federal judge has thrown a monkey wrench into the $765 million concussion lawsuit by initially denying approval of the lawsuit between the NFL,and its retired players... U.S Federal Judge,of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania,Anita B. Brody has not thrown out the settlement, but she wants some more clarification of the issues, but according to some reports, she may believe that the amount of the settlement may be way too low,too...

NFL news,and comments...

Detroit Lions are said to hire former Indianapolis Colts' head Jim Caldwell,as their new head coach... no surprise, because he looked, with quarterback Matthew Stafford, during his interview,at every play that the Lions had this season,to help, and tweak Stafford's arm motion... a good hire for the Lions, but can he change the culture of stupidity, that made the Lions a laughingstock, with their on and off field antics the last few years, and second in the NFL,in penalties, last season??? good luck,Jim...

Alex Rodriguez suspended for 2014 MLB season...

an arbitrator has ruled that New York Yankees' third baseman Alex Rodriguez has been suspended for the 2014 MLB season, including playoffs, because PED use and interference in the inquiry... his suspension was reduced from 211 games... Rodriguez will appeal to federal court... my opinion:Rodriguez is a real piece of work:arrogant, and feels he is above the law... i believe that he is a real piece of scum(that is being very kind),and he deserves what he has received...

commentary...

there are some interesting NFL divisional games this weekend:Drew Brees versus Russell Wilson,in game between the New Orleans Saints at the Seattle Seahawks,in "12th man" land,in Seattle... Andrew Luck versus Tom Brady,as the Indianapolis Colts play the New England Patriots... both games will be played in rainy and windy conditions... the other two(San Francisco 49ers at Carolina Panthers, where the Panthers are one point home underdogs, and the San Diego Chargers are playing the Denver Broncos,in Denver, where the Chargers did beat the Broncos, earlier this season)are tomorrow...

commentary...

what NFL player,in 2011,led his team to a 15-1 regular season, that year... answer:Aaron Rodgers, who led a team to a 15-0 record, when the Packers led game going into fourth quarter... he had forty five touchdown passes and only six interceptions(an interception rate of 1.5%),in 2011,and to back up that year,in 2012,he had thirty nine touchdowns, and only eight interceptions... since becoming the starting quarterback for the Packers,in 2008,he has thrown 181 touchdown passes, and 51 interceptions(numbers for his nine overall seasons are 182 touchdown passes, and 52 interceptions)... his overall passer rating goes from 93.8(2008 season),to a mind blowing 122.5,in 2011... he has a streak of five 100.+ passer ratings,in last five years, including this season... now for the lambasting of the pundits:with those numbers,is it Aaron's fault that the Packers had a 8-8-1 record this season??? is it Aaron's fault that the Packers have lost three of the last four playoff games that they have played??? what quarterbacks are real franchise quarterbacks??? Tom Brady, and Peyton Manning??? both have won Super Bowls, but Brady has not won the Super Bowl, since 2004,even though he won three of four, before 2004,but has had a basic .500 record,in the playoffs, including two Super Bowl losses, since then... Manning has a subpar playoff record, but has won one Super Bowl, out of two attempts, but both have Hall of Fame caliber numbers... no arguments from me for that... even though the Packers have had a subpar(for me)season,Rodgers did not disappoint anyone with his play(he was 6-3,in the nine games that he started),and he may be very frustrated with his play, last Sunday, but is it Aaron's fault that the 49ers made enough plays to win a close game??? the Packers need some upgrades, and a lot less injuries,to go further in the playoffs, but they really have a true franchise quarterback, and,in my opinion, the best starting quarterback in the NFL,period...

Tuesday, January 7, 2014

comments...

i will respond to some pundits, who have the idea that the Packers' quarterback is not a franchise quarterback, and that is the reason that they are not in the elite eight of the NFL,tomorrow... that does piss me off... stay tuned, kiddies!!!!! it is going to be fun!!!!!

have had a very long day... day off, nice walkabout,today... be back tomorrow...

commentary...

like a true leader,Aaron Rodgers feels frustrated by his play, yesterday, and even though it may be very true,he should be very, very proud of the entire team that truly fought like true champions... not every team wins the Super Bowl... the facts are the Packers were beset by major injuries, like most years, but it is the team that deals with them the best that usually wins Lombardi every year... actually, the Packers have been in "playoff mode" for weeks,by falling behind both the Detroit Lions, and Chicago Bears midway into the season, and losing quarterback Aaron Rodgers,to a pesky clavicle injury, after week nine, did not help, but honestly losing Clay Matthews,Casey Hayward, and Johnny Jolly,to major injuries did not help the defense, either, but the team never gave up,even though, they needed help throughout the last month of the season... the team defense did pick up the last quarter of the season, even though the run defense was not what it should have been, with the absences of Matthews,Hayward, and Jolly... those three players were the major cogs on defense, and they missed a major chunk of the season... in the case of Matthews, and Hayward, they missed five,or more, games apiece, with major injuries... however, the Packers hung on and made the playoffs, showing real character in a team that did look like jigsaw puzzles, most of the season... be frustrated,Aaron, but remember there is next year, and be the true leader that you truly are... with the feelings that they should have beaten the 49ers,they will be very dangerous to play, next season... before you 49ers' fans get a big head, the Packers have beaten your team eleven of the last sixteen games(before their four game winning streak,(the last two games went down to who had the football last)the Packers had won eleven of the past twelve games... your team did make enough plays to win,and were the better team,yesterday... however, the edge between the teams are quite razor thin,so there is always next year,Aaron... look to the future, but remember the past...

commentary...

first of all,i have to give my hat tip to the better team,yesterday... i waited to say this, because i did not want to say something very stupid, like "we wuz robbed",or the 49ers stunk up Lambeau Field(laughing)... actually, there is no way that i could ever say that about this game...i am sad that the Packers lost, and as a shareholder/owner,i really feel bad,but i honestly can not get really upset about the game... every pundit thought that the Packers had no chance to win the game, and yet, they fought like champions, down to last second.... the 49ers literally made one more play to win the game, and to tell you the truth, the game played out exactly like the first game of this season between the teams, when the 49ers ran out the clock, and left the Packers with less than a minute to play,to mount a drive,to try to win the game... that time failed, too,as this time, the 49ers did not leave any time on the clock,as they kicked the game winning field goal, with no time left on the clock... in a game like that, you can nit-pick the game, but i refuse to do that, because the better team did win,period...

Packers' game score...

a very fond childhood memory...

to tell you the absolute truth,i was both a 49ers' fan,and a Packers' fan growing up... living in California,it was quite easy to be a 49ers' fan,but i want to tell a story of my childhood:the very first football game i watched on television was on December 1st,1968,when the 49ers played the Packers,at Kezar Stadium... it was Bart Starr's final start of 1968,i believe, because of injury... the reason that i know the game was at Kezar,is that i fondly remember the white uniforms of the Packers on that big television,at least,i thought it was a big television(ha ha)... the 49ers won the game,27-20,but i was smitten by the Packers, that day...

commentary...

when the Packers lost,40-10,on Thanksgiving Day,2013,to the Detroit Lions,in the worst offensive showing of any team in a game in the 2013 NFL season(stats wise-that is true),the Packers were in third place, behind,Detroit, and the Chicago Bears, and honestly looked like dead meat for anything, but the long off-season in Green Bay... how did the Packers get to host a game,in playoffs??? Detroit had to lose twice, and the Bears had to lose once, along with losing to the Packers,in week seventeen, for the Packers to have a chance at the NFC North Division title??? well, the undisciplined Lions.who were second in the NFL,IN THE NUMBER OF PENALTIES,fell apart in the last seven weeks, beating only the Packers,in that real stinker,Thanksgiving Day,and the Bears lost to the Philadelphia Eagles,54-11,and then losing in the cold to the Packers,in week seventeen,33-28... the Packers were not a perfect team:they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers,38-31,and were 2-5-1,without quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and with an offense,at that time, that looked like a jigsaw puzzle,i hate to admit, they are lucky to be in playoffs, but folks,i have to say they were also the one team that seem to be stable enough just to keep within earshot,of two teams(Detroit, and Chicago)that were simply falling apart, and the Packers took advantage of their opportunities to capture the NFC North Division crown, and to host a playoff game...

Friday, January 3, 2014

trivia...

folks, the last time that the Packers beat the 49ers was week 13,2010,when they beat the 49ers,34-16,at Lambeau Field,on December 5th,2010... the 49ers have won the last three games between the teams...

correction...

i must have brain freeze today... the opening week's game against the 49ers was in San Francisco,at Candlestick Park, not Lambeau Field... the 2012 opener between the teams was at Lambeau Field, won by the 49ers,30-22... i corrected the minor error...

commentary...

it is going to be one of the coldest games in NFL history,Sunday... the 49ers are favored, and to tell you the absolute truth,i respect 49ers' quarterback Colin Kaepernick much more than last year,as a starting quarterback,in the NFL... his overall numbers may not be as gaudy as last year, but he has been a steady influence on the 49ers,as they have won six games in a row,to end the regular season... i have two questions for the 49ers:are they the team who lost the Seattle Seahawks,29-3,in which they looked very beatable, and not too physical,or they are the football team who has won six games in a row,but still,at times, look like a team who makes mistakes, and still win the game... in the last game against the Packers,Frank Gore ran for only forty four yards, but Kaepernick threw for over 300+ yards, and Anquan Boldin had over 200 receiving yards... the 49ers are as healthy as they have been all season, and have a punishing run defense, but Aaron Rodgers torched them, for over 300+ passing yards, but Eddie Lacy had only forty one rushing yards, that game,in a 34-28 49ers' win,at Candlestick Park, that actually was closer than the final score was, because the 49ers ran out the clock out on a game winning drive, basically giving the Packers only seconds to respond with a drive... both Gore and Lacy ran for over 1,000 yards this season... to those pundits, who believe the 49ers are just going to run over the Packers like last year's playoffs, gaining 579 total offensive yards, forget that game,period... last year's playoff game was in balmy San Francisco, and in perfect game conditions for the team, but folks, this is where the frigid, almost unbearably cold weather comes in focus... the 49ers may be the better team,on paper, but conditions like,at the "Frozen Tundra" do not happen too often, and if the game plays out like opening week, fine, but honestly, there may be unknown mistakes awaiting both teams, and whoever handles the arctic weather the best, most likely, will win the tightly fought, and close game...

NFL news,and comments...

BIG WHOOP!!!!!!! Chicago Bears signed quarterback Jay Cutler to a seven year,$126 million contract extension... for a guy,who has won only one game, against the Packers,in his NFL career,it is a lot of money... my opinion:the Chicago Bears must have blinders on to think they have their franchise quarterback, and it will be to their detriment,period...

blog statement...

i am taking the day off on this blog... nothing really wrong, but i do want to take it easy today, after having a cold for the last days of the "miserable" year 2013... i will give you more trivia, tomorrow, about the 49ers,and Packers...

weather forecast for Green Bay...

weather forecast for Green Bay,for Saturday night/Sunday afternoon:low temperature,Saturday night,3 degrees,high for Sunday:10 degrees,low overnight Sunday:minus 13... welcome to the real "Frozen Tundra".... BRRRRRRRR!!!!!!

commentary...

the NFL season for the Packers was strange, nutty, and wacky... even though the Packers are in the NFL playoffs, there were times that i really did not think that they had a chance to make it... thank you,Lions, for collapsing in the last seven games, and thank you,Bears, for having a bad defensive scheme,on "fourth and 8"... i will remember that play, forever, and so will Packers' fans...

blog statement...

i do honestly have New Year's resolutions, but will keep them private,so i will work on them throughout 2014...
