commentary...

Bears sound all tough, like they are going to play all-out,against Packers... hope they do,because, honestly,Packers want to beat the Bears, with most of the starters in there, maybe not for the division, but to really prove a point, who is the better team, this year?... two punt returns by Devin Hester (a 28-yard punt return,in first half, and then a 62-yard punt return,in fourth quarter, set up,and gave both touchdowns, scored by Chicago... Packers dominated most of the game, and yet lost the game,20-17,with a Robbie Gould 19 yard field goal, with four seconds left,in game... Packers had football for almost 36 minutes, but had two turnovers, including a costly interception, that set up the winning field goal,by Gould....

Packers' trivia...

Chris Jacke owns record for most consecutive field goals,as a Packer, with seventeen field goals,in 1993... he also owns a Super Bowl ring, for Super Bowl XXXI...

NFL news...

NFL Network has a cute video of Brett Favre dancing something of a Irish jig,at practice, about 15 seconds of video... ha,ha...

Packers' news...

Charles Woodson was named the winner of the Ed Block Courage Foundation award, for the Packers... it was voted on,by the players... it is voted on,by players of every team,in NFL... Woodson has missed only one game to injury(week 13,2007),since he came to Green Bay,via trade, and he has played with a very sore toe, which he broke,in 2008,and still played through that pain...

commentary...

over the last 33 games, the Packers have the best home record,in NFC,at 25-8(.758)... during Mike McCarthy's coaching tenure, the Packers have a record of 20-9,against the NFC North division, the best record of anyone,in division... if Packers win Sunday, they will become only the second team to win,at least four division games, for five straight years, behind New England... if Packers lose Sunday, they will need New York, and Tampa Bay,to lose their games, against Washington, and New Orleans, respectfully,to make the playoffs, because they own the tiebreaker, against both teams...

NFL news...

Chad Clifton,Clay Matthews,Greg Jennings,Nick Collins, and Charles Woodson, all made the Pro Bowl... Aaron Rodgers is first alternate, something like first runner-up,in Miss America pageant... my opinion:WHAT A CROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

commentary...

Bears/Packers,at Lambeau Field,Sunday... both teams do not like each other... enough said... expect a battle;Packers trying to prove that they are better team, and Bears trying to prove that last time was not a fluke win... Aaron Rodgers wants to beat Chicago badly, and in my opinion,Packers should have won last game, but Bears got lucky in beating Packers,20-17,on basically on last play of game... Bears only scored one offensive touchdown,in second period, but had a 62 yard punt return touchdown,by Devin Hester, who,by the way, owns the NFL record, for kickoff/punt return touchdowns, with fourteen touchdowns, but this time, the Bears are coming to Lambeau Field, where Packers are,10-1,in last eleven games, and where Rodgers, and company, ran up over 500+yards,of total offense,in a 45-17 rout,of the New York Giants, and Rodgers had passed for 404 yards, and four touchdowns,yesterday... the Bears are coming off a very close,38-34,win,over the New York Jets,in Chicago... the Jets led most of the game, and Mark Sanchez(out of USC)threw an interception,in last minute,to lose game to Bears... SO BRING ON THE BEARS SUNDAY.... WAR TIME,IN GREEN BAY!!!!!!!!!!!

NFL news...

Tuesday night's football game, between the Minnesota Vikings, and the Philadelphia Eagles, will be the 23rd game, played on a Tuesday,in NFL history... the last one:New York Giants beat the Boston Yanks,17-0,on October,1,1946...

game score,and commentary...

Packers 45,Giants 17.... six turnovers by Giants... four interceptions,by Eli Manning... what did i say? inconsistent quarterback... Rodgers was 25 for 37,for 404 yards, and four touchdowns, and defense for the Packers, was swarming, and except for one play(a 85 yard pass play,to tie game at 14,in second period),they were dominant,defensively... Giants' defense gave up 500 yards+,of total offense,to the Packers, and first time, since October,1980,thirty years ago,and Manning really sucked, and Giants could not catch enough balls,to out-gun Rodgers, who had his best game of year... Honestly,i would not like to be the Bears, next week, because Packers honestly believe they were the better team the last time(a 20-17 loss to Bears),and Rodgers wants to prove it... Chicago won NFC North, indeed, but they have won games that they simply had no right to win(example:opening week, against Detroit,19-14,when referees took away a hotly disputed touchdown catch,by Calvin Johnson, who actually spun the ball on the ground, after catching it,with seconds left in game... in fact, they should have been beaten,by Detroit,in the second game, but Detroit was called for a roughing-the-passer penalty,on Jay Cutler, during a critical drive late in game, and Lions lost to Bears,24-20,and recently, they got blown out by New England,36-7... The Packers lost to New England, last week,31-27,with a backup quarterback(Matt Flynn),so Packers will be fired up to play next week,at Lambeau Field... let it snow, big time, next week... go Packers go!!!!!!!!!

what was Vince Lombardi's record,in his first year,as coach,of the Packers,in 1959?

commentary...

Aaron Rodgers will play Sunday, and is fired up to do,so expect Packers to win Sunday, because they need win more than Giants, and do not expect Giants to roll over, after an twenty-eight point outburst,by Eagles,in last eight minutes,of their game, against Philadelphia... the main factor in game will be if Giants can run the football, against Packers, consistently, without turning the football over to the Packers... if they give Green Bay a short field,to run offense, they will pay big time... the same can be said of the Packers, for the Giants, except Eli Manning is a little inconsistent passing the football, and hope the Packers intercept him, because their receivers have been known to drop passes(including a fumble,on sidelines, that was turning point, against the Eagles)... Go Pack Go!!!!!!!!

Packers' history...

the last time that Giants/Packers played was in 2007 NFC championship game, won by the Giants,23-20,in overtime, when Brett Favre threw his last pass, for the Packers(an interception),that New York Giants turned into winning field goal...

Packers' news...

QB Aaron Rodgers took majority of snaps at today's practice;has been cleared to play Sunday, against New York Giants,at Lambeau Field,Sunday... basically, the playoffs start Sunday, against Giants, because a loss,to Giants, means the Packers will be on life support, for the playoffs...

NFL news... BREAKING NEWS...

Brett Favre will start for the Vikings, but Adrian Peterson is out, against the Bears,tonight... if Bears lose tonight, and Packers win out this season, they will be NFC North Champions... honestly,a long shot...

commentary...

Because of the Giants',and the Buccaneers' losses, yesterday,if they win out, against the Giants, and Bears,at Lambeau Field,Packers are in the playoffs,as the sixth seed...

commentary...

this is written from a fan's perspective:Green Bay has had a very strange year,indeed... they have had more players,on injured reserve, than i can count, from their opening day roster... they have fought to be one of the better teams,in the NFL,but yet, they stand at 8-6,as of right now, with their starting quarterback,in limbo, because of his second concussion, this year... they have lost six games, but let us look at those games:they lose by three points, four times, twice in overtime... in fact,Mason Crosby missed a 53 yard field goal, which bounced off the upright,as time expired,to win game, and then lost in overtime... they have gone down to last minute,of every loss, and come up short... they have lost six games:the worst defeat has been by four points,to the Detroit Lions, and to the New England Patriots... not even the high-powered Patriots could blow them out,in Foxborough... this year has been odd,and strange, because,as of right now,you would think that with so many injuries, someone would have blown them out,but they have fought to be in every game, and with a few lucky bounces, they could be better than their record, but they have been the real hard-luck team,of the NFL,this year... they may not make the playoffs, because too many really good teams,in NFC,but they will show up the last two games, and fight to win,and i expect everyone to play their hearts out,and leave everything out on the Lambeau Field turf, win,or lose...

Packers' game score,and commentary...

Patriots 31,Packers 27... second best game of weekend, behind Eagles/Giants game... can not be ashamed of team effort... commentary...

my all-time favorite player to watch, ever, was not a Packer, but he played Packers, twice,in a year, and he lost over 1,000 yards, behind the line of scrimmage, but yet, averaged five yards a carry,in his career... his name:number 20,of the Detroit Lions,Barry Sanders... before retiring,at age 30,he won a MVP(with Brett Favre-tie)... he had over 2,000 yards rushing that year, for a Lions team, that really sucked, and he should have won that award going away, that year... he stopped just short of Walter Payton's rushing record(since broken,by Emmitt Smith)...

commentary...

Donald Driver talked Aaron Rodgers into sitting out the rest of the game, against Detroit, telling that the game was not that important, and his health was more important, along with that,"he loved him to death",and Rodgers stood up,looked at Driver, and then realized that it(the game)was over, for him,and that he could not go on.... what a class act Donald Driver is... way to go,Donald!!!!!!!!!

Packers' news,and commentary...

there will no decision,on QB Aaron Rodgers, until Saturday(or as they put it,until further notice),on whether he will play Sunday, against New England... it looks like the Packers, will rely on Matt Flynn(out of LSU),who is getting first-team reps, for Green Bay,this week... they are definite underdogs, without Aaron Rodgers, and i felt they were underdogs, going to the game, with him, honestly, because simply Tom Brady has been slicing, and dicing up very good defenses, the last five weeks, and has not thrown an interception,in five games... Sunday night should be very interesting, and rather painful,to watch... if Rodgers plays Sunday,he,honestly, has been almost as good,as Brady,stats-wise,over the same span of games... Green Bay has only had four turnovers,in last six games, and one of those interceptions that Rodgers threw, bounced off Greg Jennings' hands, twice, went backwards, and into the hands of the Lions' player, behind him... just dumb luck!!!!!!!!

Packers' history...

Since Gillette Stadium opened in 2002,the only NFC team to beat the Patriots,at home, was the Green Bay Packers,on October 13,2002... in fact, the Packers beat the Patriots the last two times they played the Patriots,in New England,in 1997,and in 2002... they hold a 5-4 record, against them, including their third Super Bowl win,(SUPER BOWL XXXI)....

NFL news...

commentary...

according to Elias Sports Bureau,P Tim Masthay became first Packers' punter,to average 50 yards/per punt,in a game, with eight punts, against Detroit, including a 62 yard punt.... when you talk about a punter, you know the offense sucked, and the defense was absolutely great, but was on the field way too much,overall... they had two interceptions, one in end zone, and the other was on their own 29 yard line... when Aaron Rodgers went out, with concussion, they were tied at zero, with Lions,so they had no excuses, for the loss... my lament was on last play, with about a minute left,Packers threw a long pass to a wide receiver,on a fourth down, and one, when all they had to get a first down, when they were in Lions' territory, with just over a minute left.... what a really bad coaching call!!!!!! i am not saying the Packers were going to win game, but give the team the chance, that is all...

NFL news... BREAKING NEWS...

Brett Favre's ironman streak ends tonight,at starting 297 consecutive games... it started September 27,1992,and ends tonight,on December 13,2010(18 years,2 1/2 months)(19 years,of playing)... he started against Pittsburgh Steelers,in first start, and did not start, against New York Giants,tonight-a streak of 321 straight games of starting, including playoffs... Tarvaris Jackson starts, for Minnesota,tonight...

Packers' history...

Don Majkowski was the starting quarterback, for the Packers, when he suffered a broken leg,(he has had eleven operations,on his leg,and ankle,at least),before Brett Favre started his 297 game regular season game starts streak(321 games, including playoffs)... how do i come up with that trivia, about Don Majkowski? i read a lot,and i dig out those nuggets of trivia...

commentary...

on September 27,1992,Brett Favre started his 297 game start streak... (321 games, including playoffs)... i am betting money(?) that he plays tonight, against New York Giants,at Ford Field,in Detroit... his first start was against Pittsburgh Steelers...

commentary,and analysis...

even with a 7-3 loss to the Lions,Packers are still in playoff hunt, because of the 36-7 stomping,of the Bears,by the New England Patriots;still one game out of division lead... that is the good news, and now the bad news:Packers' next game is in Foxboro, against the same New England Patriots' team... big trouble a-coming,if Aaron Rodgers does not play next week, but honestly,i expect him to play next week... the last three weeks, including the Patriots,Packers play New York Giants, and then the Bears,at Lambeau Field, last week of season... the Bears play the Vikings,New York Jets, and then Green Bay Packers, the last week of season, for the NFC Nrth division... if Packers are tied,or even one game out,the last week of the season, prediction time:Packers win NFC North division,by beating the Chicago Bears,at Lambeau Field...

NFL news... BREAKING NEWS...

Aaron Rodgers out with concussion,i guess,as a precaution... Lions has their third string quarterback,in today... at half,in Detroit,at 0-0... Brett Favre, according to NFL.com,and other sources, says he will not play tomorrow night, against the Giants,in Detroit, because of injury, ending a 297 game starting streak, dating back to 1992,but i will not believe that until the game starts, not because it is the Vikings, but because of the physical, and mental toughness,of Brett Favre... all the respect due him....

correction...

the Lions' loss,14-12,to Buffalo Bills, was in Buffalo, not Detroit...

NFL news... BREAKING NEWS...

New York Giants/Minnesota Vikings game moved to Ford Field,in Detroit,Monday, because Metrodome roof collapsed under 17 inches of snow, and ripped the rooftop open....

commentary...

Detroit's record is not indicative of how well the Lions have played against their opponents, example:opening week, against Chicago, when they lost in last second,on a very hotly disputed non-catch,by Calvin "Megatron" Johnson, when Johnson "lost" control of a touchdown pass,as he spun it off ground, after catching football... in my opinion,it was the worst call,by the referees,in the entire NFL,THIS SEASON... last week, they lost to Chicago, again, because of a disputed roughing the passer,on Ndamukong Suh(correct spelling of name),when he hit Jay Cutler... that drive led to Chicago's comeback, and win,in Detroit... Aaron Rodgers has not lost a game,to Detroit(5-0),but Detroit is not same team that lost 30 of 32,the last two years, including an infamous 0-16 season,in 2008... as a team, they have been outscored,by only 28 points(278-306),which means they have lost a lot of close games, including one to Buffalo,14-12,in Detroit, for the Bills' first win, this season... Ndamukong Suh has had a very good rookie season, giving teams fits, including the Packers, during a 28-26 win,for Packers, when John Kuhn, and company basically ran out the last six and half minutes,on clock,to win game,at Lambeau Field, earlier this season... a tightly fought game in Detroit,it will be,but Packers do have enough firepower to outscore Detroit,at Ford Field,Sunday...

Friday, December 10, 2010

commentary,and analysis...

Packers/Lions,Sunday morning... as Bears are ahead of Packers,by one game in division,Bears play New England,in Chicago... Tom Brady sliced and diced New York Jets,45-3,last week... if Brady plays half as good,as last week,i pity the Bears... offenses and defenses between Packers/Lions are about equal, except the Lions are down to their third string quarterback, this week,i believe... more tomorrow...

69th anniversary of Pearl Harbor...

this blogpost is to memorialize Pearl Harbor... people sometimes forget that infamous day:at 7:51 am,on December 7,1941,the Empire of Japan started one of two bombing runs,at Pearl Harbor... USS Arizona was sunk in minutes, when bomb hit deck, and plunged to ammo magazine that basically sunk the battleship with a explosion, within ten minutes... i believe only one battleship got underway during the attack, and 2,350 were killed, and 1,178 injured... 1,177 of the killed servicemen came from the USS Arizona... to the memory of those killed and injured... may they be blessed by history forever

Monday, December 6, 2010

commentary...

Aaron Rodgers was 21-30,for 298 yards passing, and three touchdowns... Donald Driver had an awesome touchdown, when he wrestled with, and broke away, from seven different 49ers' players to score his touchdown,to break open a close game... it was the Packers' touchdown of year, not for being a great catch, but for two simple facts:Driver has had a very quiet year, and has come back from injury(a quadriceps injury),and he showed a unmitigated desire in scoring a touchdown, from 61 yards out... it reminded me of a very famous quarterback rush,of a rambling, stumbling Steve Young, into end zone, against Minnesota, that propelled Steve Young, into the starting quarterback that he became, and assured the 49ers that he was,"the man" to count on,at that time... i am not saying that Driver's touchdown run after catch was not great, but it showed that he is now healthy, and wanted to score, and show his Packer teammates, that nothing was going to stop him at all... Greg Jennings had 122 yards receiving, and two touchdowns, including a 57 yard touchdown, down the left sideline,to open up the scoring, for the Packers, that was a beautiful catch in itself... defense had one major breakdown,in allowing Vernon Davis loose in the secondary, for a 66 yard touchdown, for the 49ers,to close up on the Packers,14-13,at halftime, but tightened up only to allow a field goal, after halftime,as the Packers pounded out a win,34-16,over the 4-8 49ers...

Packers' history...

on September 22,1935,in a 7-0 win, over the Chicago Bears,Don Hutson's first pass reception,as a professional, went for a 83 yard touchdown... saw the actual tape of the touchdown,on NFL Network, during the presentation of,"the 100 greatest players in NFL history"...

Packers' history...

Sunday will be seventh time that the Packers have worn a third jersey... they are 3-3,wearing them,in their team history...
the six other times, are as follows:
at Philadelphia,September 18,1994,a 13-7 loss,to Eagles...
vs Tampa Bay,September 25,1994,a 30-3 win,over the Buccaneers...
at New England,October 2,1994,A 17-16 loss,to the Patriots...
at Chicago,October 31,1994,a 33-6 win,over the Bears...
(the last two were Thanksgiving Day Games)
at Detroit,November 22,2001,a 29-27 win, over the Lions(win was preserved,on a two point conversion that was batted away,in end zone)... Packers were up 29-6,in third period,in game...
at Detroit,November 27,2003,a 22-14 loss,to the Lions...

NFL trivia...

since week 10 last year,Packers have a record of 8-1(,889),only New England have better home record---they have a 8-0 record,at home...

Friday, December 3, 2010

commentary...

pundits are saying that the game between Packers/49ers,will be an easy game for the Packers this weekend, but 49ers have been an enigma this year... they were favored to win NFC West, but then got blown out by Seahawks,31-6,giving up 31 consecutive points, and lost their first five games, and six of seven, but have won three of their last four games, losing their starting quarterback, from opening day,and their best running back, with a fractured hip... their defense is very good,on defensive line, but defensive backfield is very young, and good, but can be beat downfield deep... Aaron Rodgers has been very good, and hot, with his stats... Green Bay has had only one turnover in last four weeks--a fumble on a quarterback sneak,on one yard line,by Rodgers, just before going into end zone, resulting in a touchback, and later on,in that Falcons' drive,a touchdown,to put Atlanta,10-3,instead of the Packers being up,10-3,perhaps the turning point in that game... Packers' defense have given, about 17 points, per game, this season, one of the best defensive efforts this year(scoring defense),in NFL...

commentary...

Packers don third jersey,going back to their 1929 championship year(their first championship),brown helmets,blue uniforms,and yellow dot,with blue number,on front,this week,against the 49ers... lovely(ha ha)... if you go to the Packers' website,you will find a brown helmet,and the notation,"ACME PACKERS",on it,this week...

commentary...

by the way,49ers play Packers Sunday... i do not expect a blowout, but the 49ers' best player,on offense(RB Frank Gore)went on IR... 49ers do have some impressive weapons,in their pass offense, but with a running game, now manned by Brian Westbrook, they have a fragile running game, because the last time Westbrook ran for over 100 yards, was then he was with Eagles,a few years ago,but did run for 135 yards, against Arizona, but the Packers' defense will shut him down, for the most part... very good pass catcher,indeed... can Packers outscore 49ers? yes,but it will be tight fought game... both have very good defenses, and except for the lack of a running game last week, the Packers have had a running game most of the year, filled by Brandon Jackson, admirably, after Ryan Grant(a back, who ran for more than 1,200 yards, the last two seasons) went down in first game, with a foot/ankle injury... should be interesting game... on paper,Packers should win, but, like Howard Cosell used to say,"that is the reason that they play the game..." you never know... do you like the Cosell quote?

Packers' history...

Don Chandler hit 8 extra points(PAT's),in a game vs. Atlanta,on October 23,1966

commentary...

Aaron Rodgers did everything to win the game,yesterday... it was actually a rather nasty game... five,or six personal fouls, including one that basically set up Atlanta,at mid-field,and to win game,by three points,again... the Packers' defense was stellar, most of the game... they "did" stop Atlanta on 4th and two,but did not have time to challenge call;replays showed Tony Gonzalez trapped ball, when he "caught" ball, but that is "spilled" milk... a big mistake,by Mike McCarthy... Packers are the only NFL team, not to be blown out this season,so far, losing four games by three points, two in overtime, and two in last 25 seconds... the fumble,by Rodgers,on a quarterback sneak,at the one,happens... that is football, just a bad break that it was recovered,by Atlanta,in end zone;resulting drive, led to a touchdown,by Atlanta... special teams let the Packers down, and is weakest link,on team, and is the reason that they lost game, plus a total lack of a running game(which sucked),yesterday...

Packers' history...

the 37-0 Green Bay Packers' win, over the New York Giants, for the NFL Championship,on December 31,1961,was "as close as perfect as it can be",as a game, for Vince Lombardi... Paul Hornung scored 19 points, himself(touchdown, three field goals, four extra points),tied Detroit's Pat Harder, for NFL post-season record,in a game, against Los Angeles,in 1952... record stood until 1993,when San Francisco's Ricky Watters scored five touchdowns,in a win over, ironically, the New York Giants... Bart Starr threw three touchdowns, two to Ron Kramer, and one to Boyd Dowler, and the offense had 345 yards of total offense... defense intercepted four passes,by Y.A. Tittle, and recovered one fumble... both Ray Nitschke's,and Hank Gremminger's(Packers' defensive back) interceptions set up two touchdowns,as the Packers had a 24-0 halftime lead... the Giants only had 130 yards,of total offense, and only 31 yards rushing....

Friday, November 26, 2010

commentary...

the key to the Falcons' offense is three- fold:QB Matt Ryan,RB Michael Turner, and WR Roddy White(correct spelling of name)... all three can burn you at any time, and especially Roddy White,so far,a 1,000 yard receiver, with blazing speed... i have great respect, for Atlanta, but honestly, except for the Saints, their schedule had been rather soft, and yet, they have won the games they had to win-a mark of a very good, and disciplined team... can the Packers beat them? definitely, yes, but Packers have to play their A-game,and most of rest of the regular season, because their schedule has not get any easier, after this week...

NFL news...

Greg Jennings is named NFC offensive player of the week for his seven catches, for 152 yards, and three touchdowns,of Aaron Rodgers' 22 for 31 passes, for 301 yards passing, and four touchdowns, against Minnesota...

commentary...

the running game for Atlanta,is powered,by Michael Turner, who had 28 carries, for 131 yards, including a 39 yard run for touchdown, but Atlanta's defensive backfield,is young, and a few passes got by them, against St. Louis,so they can be had deep, but they are talented... Packers' defense have to pressure Matt Ryan, and plug holes for Turner... i except a shootout,Sunday, because Aaron Rodgers is going to keep firing, not giving up,and it will come down to a big mistake,at end,it looks like, and both teams are very, very good... Falcons are 5-0,at home... it is time for a loss,at home, for them...

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

correction...

i referred to Zygi Wilf(Vikings' owner),as Ziggy Wilf... i was wrong...

commentary...

Packers have won four games in a row,out-scoring,opponents,113-34,and getting two coaches fired(Dallas Cowboys' Wade Phillips, and Minnesota Vikings' Brad Childress),the last two weeks, that they have played(out-scoring both teams,76-10)... now they go to Atlanta,to face the Falcons, who are,8-2,playing very well, like the Packers... the last time Green Bay played in Atlanta, against the Falcons, they won,33-25,with Brett Favre,as quarterback,of the Packers, and i believe,Michael Vick, was quarterback,of the Falcons... what a difference in both teams!!!!! Matt Ryan(college:Boston College) is playing very well,as quarterback,of the Falcons, and their running game is very good, and receiving corps are bolstered,by a group of speedy receivers, but their defense can be run on,and both quarterbacks(Ryan, and Aaron Rodgers(college:California-Berkeley))are playing very well, and it should be a shootout,in Atlanta,Sunday... the defense of the Packers are stiffening up... they allow the fewest points/per game, just over 15 points/per game, leading the NFL,in that category...

NFL news... BREAKING NEWS...

Vikings fired Brad Childress tonight,after,31-3 Packers' romp...

commentary...

i must let Brett go into sunset, and i applaud, and appreciate his time,as a Packer, and his time as a ironman quarterback, for the three NFL teams that he played... he did lead Packers into Super Bowl XXXI,beating the New England Patriots, that day... see you, dear friend,in Canton!!!!!! have a good quiet retirement in Mississippi, after this season...

commentary...

this is is my last blogpost about Saint Brett... for three years,i have suffered with talking about Saint Brett, and hearing from people about how great a player that he is... have been waiting for the day of his comeuppance, and see the Packers be the team,it made me smile, and warm inside... to see the great Saint Brett, with nary a word, and simply be speechless, after Packers pounded the Vikings, into mush, and send him into a tractor ride,in Mississippi... it was an embarrassment to see him be feted, like he was going to be the difference,in Minnesota, and knowing that he screwed up last year, and he was not even the best quarterback,in division, but i did ripped him for his play, but i circled the two games, with the Packers, knowing in my heart that Packers would crush, and bury them both times, because the Packers were the better team... i watched NFL REDZONE all day(a NFL channel, which shows every big play,in all games on Sundays),and heard nothing about the Vikings, which meant all bad news, for Saint Brett, and the Vikings, and i inwardly smiled, saying to myself,"crow for Saint Brett tastes good",and what goes around, comes back around, and see the Packers(the team, and fans that Saint Brett trash-talked about, the last three years)pound the snot out of the Vikings, with Saint Brett in control was very nice, and i smiled all day... GO PACKERS!!!!

commentary...

Packers scored 31 straight points;four touchdowns,by Aaron Rodgers;three touchdowns thrown to Greg Jennings... Vikings did not show up,at all,and Saint Brett really sucked,at quarterback, and no one played a good game... they looked beat,at 3-3,and after an interception,by Tramon Williams, they were yelling at each other, between Saint Brett, and Darrell Bevell(Vikings' offensive coordinator),and the defense players had to be restrained, and separated,by coaching staff, and some fans, from Wisconsin, were yelling,"go Pack go",and some Vikings' fans, were yelling for Ziggy Wilf(Vikings' owner) to fire Brad Childress(Vikings' coach)... i loved it... PACKERS 31,VIKINGS 3... "buried Saint Brett,i loved it,big time... hope he just goes away,finally...

commentary,and Packers' game score

Packers stomp the crap out of the Vikings,31-3; Aaron Rodgers passed for 301 yards, and four touchdowns, and Vikings were yelling at themselves,on sideline, and Saint Brett had a miserable day, like every other Vikings' player... they "buried" Saint Brett, finally, putting a stake into heart of Favre, and the Vikings' chance at playoffs(laughing),what playoffs!!!!!! the game against the Bears,at end of the season, will be for the division... i love stomping Saint Brett down into the ground, like a tent peg... love to see the Viking suffer in the press, and am tired of hearing Saint Brett whine, like a cry-baby,and i love the fans suffering too, because Childress is going to be fired, and Vikings really never showed up,and really suck...

commentary...

Saint Brett, and the Vikings play Packers,in Minnesota,tomorrow... final time for Saint Brett playing Packers,if Saint Brett is to be believed that this is his final year playing in NFL,and i finally believe him, because it appears to me that he is disinterested in playing, after this year... in fact,it looks to me that he is looking very, very disinterested, because it looks like Vikings are not making the playoffs, and they may win tomorrow, but Chicago is three and a half games ahead of them, and Packers may be a game behind Chicago,if they lose, but the Vikings need to sweep, and they need help, big time, and they have two divisional losses, and Bears,as of now, have not lost a divisional game... Packers have lost to the Bears,20-17,but play them the last game,of the season,in Green Bay,and so have the Vikings,27-13,last Sunday, and have lost to Packers,28-24,at Lambeau Field, earlier in season,so Vikings need to win,and desperate for a win... if Sidney Rice plays,as i expect, they have a chance,if not,the Packers should beat them down,again... Saint Brett is 12-1,at home,in Minnesota, but the loss was to the Dolphins,a very bad loss, earlier this year,14-10,and Saint Brett has only ten touchdowns, and sixteen interceptions, and have turned football over,directly,twenty-one times,of the twenty three turnovers that Vikings have suffered, this year... without Rice, their receiving corps really suck, and Saint Brett is not the same quarterback,as in the past...

commentary...

just read an article from Acme Packing Company(a Packers' blog),in which they talked to a writer, from the Daily Norseman(a Vikings' blog),in which the Vikings' blog writer was basically writing off this season, calling everybody, but Percy Harvin,E.J. Henderson(who has come back from a broken leg,"an injury worse than the Theismann hit"-not my words, but the blog writer's,and Adrian Peterson, number two,and calling Saint Brett, something that i simply can not mention, and offering to get drunk on Blatz beer, and rooting for the Packers, this Sunday,if there was a 100% chance, that Brad Childress would be fired, after the game... he gave it(the firing)at 60%,for after the season...

Packers' history...

eighteen of last twenty-four games, between Packers/Vikings,have been decided by seven points,or less... this is 100th game between the teams, and an extra tidbit of knowledge:on October 22,1961,Packers beat Vikings,33-7,and the very first offensive play, for the Packers that day, resulted in a seventy-eight yard touchdown pass, from Bart Starr to Boyd Dowler... how do i come up with that trivia?

commentary...

after ripping Saint Brett, for most of year, and him deserving the ripping,i honestly do wish that he would have retired permanently,as a Packer... the last three years have tarnished his Hall of Fame legacy,by his year, with Jets, and this stinking year,in Minnesota..... it does not mean that i do not want Packers to "bury" Saint Brett,in Minnesota, this Sunday.... do i think that he is one of the best NFL players,of all time? yes... personally,is he a class person? i do not think so,by any sense of being a person... he is a whiner, and cry-baby,blaming everyone, but himself, for his behaviour, which has stunk up Lambeau Field,Old Meadowlands Stadium(New York),and now,Minnesota... i feel sorry for the fans,of all three teams, because Saint Brett thinks he is superior to every fan,not realizing that the fans pay his salary, because, without fans, you have no team....

commentary...

can Packers put Vikings out of their misery,by beating them, this weekend? good possibility, but with Sidney Rice scheduled to play, after missing all year, with injury, can Saint Brett stand up in pocket and find Rice downfield... Possible, but the Vikings are desperate for a win,and will throw everything, including the kitchen sink,at Packers, this weekend... with nothing to lose, and three games behind Green Bay,and Chicago,in division, and with the same record,as the 49ers(who are playing much better, than Vikings),the Vikings are facing playoff elimination, and Brad Childress(Vikings' coach)is facing unemployment, unless Vikings beat Packers this week... do you think Ziggy Wilf(Vikings' owner)is going to put up with this crappy team,if Vikings lose,to Green Bay,in Minnesota, and to remind you, there were boos at halftime,at home,as Vikings left field, against Cardinals,so do you think the fans will start putting bags over their heads,if the Vikings lose Sunday... i would love to see it myself... you can tell that i despise Vikings,Bears, and Lions, who by the way, have lost 24 straight road games... by the way, will the fans,in Minnesota start tearing down the Metrodome,if Vikings lose Sunday? i hope so,and i would love to hear Saint Brett get really booed out of the building,on Sunday...

commentary...

Packers need to get healthy,in last half of the season, but now the toughest part of the season, divisional games are on the tab,Chicago,Minnesota, and Detroit all play Green Bay,in the last seven games, along with Atlanta,San Francisco,New England, and the New York Giants... three division leaders, and a team that has not played well, all season, but has talent to be a spoiler,in the mix, along with Chicago,Minnesota, and Detroit... what a very tough end to season!!!!! if Green Bay plays well, they will be a playoff team, and going into playoffs, they will be tough to beat....

commentary...

Packers pounded Cowboys,45-7;first time, since expansion year,1960,that Cowboys have given 35+ points, for three straight games... game was basically over at halftime, because Cowboys really gave no effort, after halftime... they looked very sad,and just awful... bye week, for Packers, next week... it was so bad for Cowboys that Packers put in second string offense, with eight minutes left,in game, and went for a fourth, and goal(a run),at 45-7,instead of kicking a field goal... a mercy move, not to embarrass the Cowboys,i agree, but the right move...

Packers expected to release Al Harris...

Packers are expected to release Al Harris... basically too high a salary, and age,and coming back from injury, are the factors,in his release, but Packers feel they also have enough depth at cornerback... Harris has no hard feelings toward Packers, and appreciates the fans, and the Packer organization...

Sunday, November 7, 2010

analysis of game(pre game)...

Packers/Cowboys,Sunday night, then bye week, for Packers... should be interesting game... Cowboys' defense is actually not bad,but both offense, and defense have not played well this year... being 1-6 means that they are a bad team this year, but honestly, going into season, they looked good... their offensive line has been truly offensive, most of season... losing a starting quarterback,in NFL,is not easy, unless the offensive line has been real mush, but they are getting their best offensive lineman back in lineup, this week.. their receivers have dropped so many passes,or had them tipped for interceptions,it has looked like a volleyball game, instead of a football game... their only bright spot this year, besides the injured Tony Romo, and Romo was not burning the house down,as to say,is Dez Bryant, who has run back,at least, two kickoff/punt returns,of 90+yards,this season, which means Packers have to keep Bryant,in check, because he is a true barnburner... keep big plays down,to a minimum, and Packers should win... Cowboys' running game,as a team,is not too bad, either, but Packers have improved their run defense, especially,on 3rd down, and with the addition of Al Harris, and Atari Bigby, along with Charles Woodson,in defensive backfield, should improve Packers' defense overall... now if Rodgers, and company, play a very solid offensive game, the Packers should win,but this season they have played down to their opponents' level, and not pounded anyone,yet.. maybe this is the game that Packers finally show the NFL that they are a playoff contender...

commentary...

i believe the Packers have the talent to win the NFC North division, but injuries have kept us from dominating division... the Packers have lost three games, but they lost two in overtime, and one on last play of game, all three point losses, but like i said,a win is a win,and a loss is a loss... i believe that they are the only team to have that happen this year... they are hanging tough in division, and hanging around in NFC... they are going to be tough to beat this year, simply said, but are Super Bowl contenders,i really do not know, because on defense, they are playing great(a shutout,of the Jets,in New Jersey, last week),but offensively, they have not been a team on fire, yet, and even though,Rodgers have played solid, they have had trouble finishing teams off,in fourth quarter/overtime,alas the three losses,by three points... the Packers are getting healthy, and that is scary, but offensively, they need to just pound a team into submission, for their collective egos(scoring some 40 points,on offense, and just do not let up on them)... that would loosen up the Packers, mentally, and then it would be fun for them... last week's game was the best game that the defense has played in years, and now,it might perk up the offense...

Packers' news...

it looks like Al Harris, and Atari Bigby, may play this Sunday, against Dallas(the 1-6 Cowboys)...

fall classic...

this will be the only baseball post,on this football blog:i remember a baseball game,in April 1969,between the San Francisco Giants, and the New York Mets, won by the Mets,5-2,and as we scrambled to our right field seats, between right field, and first base,at old Candlestick Park,a Mets' player hit a grand slam home run to go up in first inning,5-0... Willie Mays hit his 601st home run,to end scoring at,5-2,to right field... well,my childhood came a-calling tonight,as i saw the San Francisco Giants win the World Series, and i simply cried, with joy...

Monday, November 1, 2010

NFL North standings...

NFC North Standings:
Green Bay Packers 5-3
Chicago Bears 4-3
Minnesota Vikings 2-5
Detroit Lions 2-5

Chicago has not lost division game, but most of their division games come in second half... they play Minnesota(twice),Detroit, and the Packers... Green Bay has lost one division game(to Chicago,20-17)and play them last game of season... honestly no one is going to go unbeaten,in division, because simply they do not like each other, and they will beat up on each other...

Sunday, October 31, 2010

analysis of game...

best defensive effort,by Packers, all year, but both offenses stunk up the place, especially the Jets, who had three turnovers(two interceptions, and a fumble),and five punts... the Packers had eight punts, and did not convert a third down, until third quarter, but did not turn football over to the Jets, all day, which was the key to the game... giving up nine points means a win,90+%,of the time, but the Jets really stunk up their home, but the Packers were hitting, and scratching for football, all day... in fact, the two interceptions,by the Packers were actually the Packers fighting for football, and ripping football out of the Jets' receivers' hands,on ground,or going to ground... the Jets used their three timeouts early in second half, and lost both challenges,so they could not stop the clock... it was 3-0,late in fourth quarter, when Packers kicked two field goals,to seal an ugly win... game balls to the defense, today,no doubt!!!!!!!!!

Packers' game score...

PACKERS 9 JETS 0... UGLY GAME... great defense, but offense did very little... first road shutout, since 1991,against Tampa Bay(then a division game)... more analysis tonight... a half-game lead, over the Bears, who had their bye week, and next play Dallas, who lost to Jacksonville,35-17,in Dallas, and dropped to 1-6... Packers play at Lambeau Field, against Dallas, next week... they are 5-3,at midpoint of season...

Saturday, October 30, 2010

commentary...

every pundit thinks Jets will beat Packers,Sunday... honestly,i do not think so,because the Packers have played so many close games, and have fought all season to get healthy, and yet, they are tied with the Bears for division lead, and their chance to take division lead, since the Bears are on their bye, this week, and they will fight this whole season... they may lose to the Jets, but it will be a dogfight, because they have talent to win,but they have to finish game better, and keep defense off field,as much as possible...

Friday, October 29, 2010

commentary...

in my opinion,it will be a very close game,Sunday... the team that makes most mistakes, and i do not mean penalties,or turnovers,i mean, the little things that win football games, will lose,Sunday... i mean like the critical facemask penalty that gave Vikings,1st down, and 30 yards,to go with less than 1:30 left,on clock... that was ball-breaker,for Vikings, last Sunday...

Thursday, October 28, 2010

pre-game analysis...

Offensively, the Packers and Jets are very high-powered,and similar, but the Jets do have a better running game, than the Packers,on paper, with LaDainian Tomlinson running the ball, averaging 5.3 yards per carry, and in 2006,ran for 28 touchdowns, for San Diego(then NFL record)... their passing attack does have some dangerous receivers, like the Packers, and both starting quarterbacks, are young in age,and starting in NFL(Mark Sanchez, for the Jets, years of starting in NFL-second year(USC grad),and Aaron Rodgers-3rd year(California grad))... they balance each other out, with Rodgers having the stronger arm to throw passes, but they both come out of college programs that threw the football a lot... defensively, the Jets,in their defensive backfield, have one of the best cornerbacks-safeties,in NFL,in Darrelle Revis... they,in the NFL,call him,"Revis Island",because he covers the best receiver on other team, like a blanket, and very few quarterbacks throw over to his side of the field, because he is very fast, quick, and has very good hands, and if they do,he can take it back to the house... you may think that i am a big fan,i am,but he can be beat long-distance,not often, but he can be beat... defensively, the Packers are very banged-up,on defensive line, but somehow is very good,at stopping the run, keeping Adrian Peterson(a better running back than Tomlinson,in my opinion)to a quiet 131 yards, last game, and if Al Harris, and Atari Bigby, play in defensive backfield,it will be a fascinating chess match,to watch, because both teams have great defensive backs in game,at that point... the edge to field goal kicking goes to the Packers, but special teams, overall goes to the Jets... it may come down to a field goal,at the end,or who has football last,on Sunday, like it did, against Minnesota... if it does, honestly,it may be a toss-up... Surprised?

Packers' history...

Donald Driver holds record for consecutive games, with a catch,at 133 games(139,including playoffs)... the streak ended, against the Vikings, because of injuries, and lack of time on field....

Monday, October 25, 2010

analysis of game,part 2...

now for the Packers' game plan, and execution:Aaron Rodgers passed for 295 yards,on 21,of 34,passing,and had a very good first half... it was a shootout,in first half, with both teams exchanging touchdowns, and Minnesota did lead,17-14,but Green Bay,and their defense, shut down Minnesota, and their long passing attack went into hibernation, with very few big plays, and when they did, they basically shot themselves in foot,by allowing Saint Brett to be hassled into mistakes,by gunslinging ball around Lambeau Field,or penalties, and defense hitting him into crucial mistakes(three second half interceptions),and hurting his ankle,in lineman falling on ankle,on a tackle... defense had only one sack, and three times, when he did get hit,he threw interceptions,or threw out of bounds,at critical times, like when he threw out of bounds,at end of game... Rodgers did his best work,in first half, and it turned into who would make, either, the big play,or the big mistake... Green Bay did not fumble, and only threw two interceptions, that did very little damage, giving Vikings a long field, both times, and only once they have a short field(over, into Green Bay territory,to start drive, and that was in first half),and that was because of special teams snafu, but basically special teams was adequate... Minnesota could not go the distance,as many times,as they wanted, and the one time they went long distance,a facemask personal foul did them in,at the critical time, with a 1st down, and 30,at Packers' 35 yard line, and Saint Brett ran out of miracles, this time... note of NFL history:the interception return for touchdown,by the Packers, was the ninth such return, today, and most in one day,in NFL history...

analysis of game...

Packers beat Saint Brett, and Vikings,28-24... could say that Saint Brett had a bad day,and almost made up for Vikings,by throwing a touchdown in last minute, but that is not true... last year,Saint Brett threw a similar pass against the San Francisco 49'ers,and won,in last second, but this year Minnesota is not the same team,as last year... Aaron Rodgers did play a good game,at quarterback, for the Packers, and the defense came up with key plays at critical times, including back-to-back interceptions,on consecutive drives that turned game in favor of the Packers, including an interception return that provided the game-winning points that was run back for a touchdown... Aaron Rodgers did have two interceptions, but one was for a touchback, and the other one was a botched screen pass, and did absolutely no damage to the Packers, early in the game... Saint Brett did more damage to Vikings,by his gunslinging ways, and was hounded by the pass rush of the Packers;was sacked only once, but was hit and knocked down a number of times... in fact,he hurt his ankle, again,on one pass rush, when a pass rusher, fell on his ankle, while tackling him... he was not the same after that... Aaron Rodgers played within himself, and did very little damage to team,on offense, and defense did not give up big play, and was much better,on 3rd down, and the only players, for the Vikings, who played like all-pros,was Adrian Peterson,Visanthe Shiancoe, and Percy Harvin, and they played very well, but Saint Brett had a 50.4 passer rating, not good, even for a semi-pro player, but for a Hall of Fame caliber player, like Saint Brett,it stunk up the place... Randy Moss did catch a touchdown pass, but it was a four yard pass, and his longest pass catch was thirteen yards... Harvin did have a 37 yard pass catch, but only had 65 yards overall... most of his damage was on special teams, but Packers shut him down at critical times... Peterson had 131 yards on the ground, but was contained at the most critical times of game,so his yards were the quiet type of yardage, and did not make a big play against Packers' defense... for example, you can run for 131 yards, and seem like you were contained,by defense... now for last Vikings' drive, they did have it,1st and 10,on Packers' 15 yard line, but had false start, for five yards, and offensive facemask penalty, against right side of offensive line, when player grabbed Clay Matthews' facemask(a personal foul-15 yards),to make it 1st and 30,on Packers' 35 yard line, when receiver did not come down with both feet inbounds,so it was not a touchdown,on a great pass from Saint Brett, but unlike last year,it was an incomplete pass,so Saint Brett tried to do a miracle, but threw it out of the end zone on 3rd down, and overthrew Randy Moss,on 4th down, and you should have heard the booing that Saint Brett received from the fans before, and after, the game... it warmed my heart to hear the boos....

commentary...

game of the year,so far, tomorrow, for Packers... the loser of game is in trouble in NFC North division, falling two games behind in loss column, behind Chicago Bears,so it will be a war in Green Bay,between two teams, who simply do not like each other, and i think Minnesota may think that they are a superior team, but right now,who has a losing record??? Minnesota!! i hope we bury Saint in Lambeau Field, making his miserable,in Packers' win,but it will be war,in Green Bay... note of fact,in 12 games, decided by 6 points,or less,as starter,Aaron Rodgers has only won once(against Detroit, this year),so he may be toast,or looking at cup,as half full,he may be due a win... best team wins,Sunday night... game score, after game late Sunday, and analysis of game, will be early Monday morning...

commentary...

i expect three of the four starters, being talked about as key players on defense,(Al Harris,Atari Bigby, and Clay Matthews)to play against Vikings Sunday night... how much is the question of the day? Mark Tauscher should play on offensive line, but is having trouble with shoulder harness, but all are questionable on injury report, but all four want to play, and i expect them to play,if i know them as players, which i believe that i do,as a fan,and an analyst,of this Packers' team...

Friday, October 22, 2010

commentary...

if Green Bay is to win Sunday night, the offensive line has to improve, from last year... Packers gave up fourteen sacks to the Vikings last year to zero sacks given up by Minnesota... that was main reason Green Bay lost both games,30-23,and 38-26,to the Vikings, last year... you give Saint Brett no pressure from the defense, you will pay,and pay big-time... he will pick you apart... the Packers' will have Clay Matthews back from a hamstring injury(he,of the league leading nine sacks),and possibly,Al Harris, and Atari Bigby in defensive backfield,so Packers should be back to full strength,on Sunday,on defense... Mark Tauscher, possibly, will play on offensive line,Sunday night,too...

Thursday, October 21, 2010

commentary...

the game between Green Bay,and Minnesota is vital to both teams, because if the Bears win Sunday, they will be 5-2,going into their bye week, and two games up in loss column,on the loser of the game,Sunday night... can Vikings keep Saint Brett, upright,on two feet, because their offensive line has been truly offensive, most of the year? can Randy Moss be the difference,in the passing game, for the Vikings? can Packers pressure Saint Brett, into mistakes, and can they "bury" him into Lambeau Field turf, and make him into permanent statue of pain,by sacking him a few times... can Packers' defense shut down the running game, and play their best game of year,by forcing fumbles, and intercepting passes, all over the field? can Vikings' defense harass Aaron Rodgers into the same mistakes? can Vikings defense shut down Donald Driver, and Greg Jennings,as they roam Lambeau Field... both teams have the same dilemma:can they score in fourth quarter to give either team an edge to win game? Green Bay has more talent than Minnesota overall, but it may come down to last two minutes, and to see who has the football last, and can Saint Brett,or Aaron make the fewest mistakes? answers Sunday night,in Lambeau Field... personally,i give the Packers a slight edge, but honestly,it would not surprise me to see a shootout,or even, see one team blow out the other team, but both teams do not like each other,at all,so it will probably be a tight game, with someone making a big play to turn the tide,of the game...

Wednesday, October 20, 2010

NFL news...

Saint Brett, and Vikings,at Green Bay Packers, was moved to Sunday Night Football... guess the NFL wants primetime ratings, for Sunday Night Football.... still Packers will win,at home...

well, folks, this is Vikings' week,in Green Bay... at 3-3,Packers are smarting, and pissed off, with two consecutive overtime losses, and three losses,in last four weeks,by three points, apiece, and an offense who can not seem to finish off a team,in fourth quarter/overtime,being outscored by about 25-31 points,by other team,in fourth quarter/overtime... injuries have depleted team, with seven major starters, nursing injuries,or out of starting lineup, but team has not given up,on winning... all three losses have either happened,in last two minutes,or on last play of game, with field goals,in fourth quarter,or overtime... with Saint Brett, and Randy, coming to Lambeau Field this Sunday, this Vikings' team is not the same team,as they were last year, still dangerous, but not the same... Saint Brett has been really hammered,by other teams' defensive line, and an offensive line, that has been truly offensive,at times, and is really beat up,physically... the only Vikings' player having an all-pro season,is Adrian Peterson, who is one of the best running backs in NFL,no doubt, but even at Oklahoma, was known,as a fumbler, because he ran a little upright, exposing the ball to vicious hits, with helmets,or being stripped of ball,by random hands,at critical times,in games... Vikings had six turnovers against the Saints,in last year's NFC championship, dropping the ball on the carpet,or being intercepted, rushing Saint Brett into mistakes... this year's team,is 2-3,and barely beat the pathetic Dallas Cowboys,in Minnesota, last week... even though Randy Moss had a long touchdown pass last week, most of the day,he was shut down by a defense that got torched(Cowboys'),by other teams this season... if Tony Romo had been close to last year, the Vikings would have been cooked in their Norwegian helmets,again... Saint Brett has been rushed, and beaten up,by linemen, who have put Saint Brett,on his butt, throughout the season,at times, and also have been chased all over the field, and sacked... his offensive line has been invisible in protecting Saint Brett,at times... Saint Brett is one of the greatest quarterbacks,in NFL history,no doubt, but has been just very average,in his play, this year... Vikings are very dangerous, but if Packers play their best game of year, the Vikings are cooked,in their Norwegian helmets, this week,in Lambeau Field.... unlike last year,Vikings do not have enough firepower to beat Packers,if Packers play their best game of year, but with seven starters injured,on offense,or defense,it will be interesting to see how Packers come out,and play, and if they can finish, with a flourish, they will beat Vikings, but it will be very fun,and interesting,to watch...

Packers' game score,and commentary...

Packers fought like dogs, but lose to Dolphins,23-20,in overtime.... have been outscored in fourth quarter/overtime,by 31 points,so far this season, losing last two games,in overtime, but Bears lose,Lions also lose,so no change,in division,so that helps,overall... questionable call(illegal formation,on punt-man lined up over center, did not touch) gave Dolphins drive to lead,20-13... what made it questionable was that it was done by booth, with about 8 minutes to play, and flag was thrown by referee, about two minutes, after Green Bay had ball on nine yard line, after punt... you should have heard the boos for referees, from Lambeau crowd,72,000 throats.... honestly,Dolphins played well,so no real complaints, and Green Bay defense played tough, and well, but with the seven regular starters out with injuries, offense and defense,it was a tough-played game, but still have trouble stopping the other team,on 3rd down, which frustrates fans, and offense can not seem to put a long drive together,at critical times,to give defense rest, from their work, which wore down the defense, giving Dolphins hope and, ultimately, the win,in overtime...

Packers' news...

Jermichael Finley will be out 8-10 weeks, and Packers are debating to put him on IR(injured reserve),which will put him on shelf, for year,or wait for him to heal, and keep him on roster...

Tuesday, October 12, 2010

Packers' news...

Jermichael Finley is out 3-6 weeks... team thought he was out for season,so that is good... Nick Barnett needs surgery, but should be back before season's end,Packers announced,today... Rodgers' concussion was caused when he tried a quarterback sneak,on 3rd down, when Packers were stopped on downs, when Packers were up,10-3,or 13-3... that was turning point in game, last Sunday...

Packers' history...

Bart Starr, and Brett Favre, both spent 16 years,as a Green Bay Packers' player, and Starr was head coach of the Packers,at one time...

Monday, October 11, 2010

commentary...

as an aside, for Packers' fans:Saint Brett, and the Vikings, lost to the New York Jets,29-20... now 1-3,and looking sad... for your info,Green Bay may have lost two games, but by only three points, each,to Chicago, and to Washington,in overtime, with Crosby missing a 53 yarder, with a second left in regulation, when he drilled the ball off the left goal post... rather be Green Bay,than Minnesota, right now....

Packers' news...

there are a lot of starters nursing injuries, including Aaron Rodgers,Clay Matthews, and Jermichael Finley... Rodgers will miss practice time, this week, because of a concussion suffered on offense's last play, when he got plowed under,by linebacker,as he threw interception... his playing status will be determined, but honestly it looked like, from replay, his head did not get hit,on play... his shoulder and back was hit and driven into turf... i believe the concussion came from a whiplash action of head... Jermichael Finley seems to be the worst injury, but you never know... Clay Matthews, who leads NFL,in sacks, with 9,pulled hamstring early in second half, and is questionable for game....

Sunday, October 10, 2010

Packers' game score...

Packers lose,16-13,in overtime;scored only 3 points,in second half/overtime... defense played well in first half, and actually played well, all day, chasing McNabb all over field... Aaron Rodgers was pathetic,in second half of game, could not move football;gave defense too much time on field,in second half, was pathetic on 3rd down(2-13,15%),and Rodgers threw a interception,to set up winning field goal,in overtime, but to tell the truth,Rodgers got plowed under by linebacker,as he threw pass, and the Redskins player(LaRon Landry)made a one hell of a play on football to catch it... Packers got stopped on downs,at the Redskins' 1,earlier in game, and Mason Crosby missed two field goals, one with one second left,in regulation that drilled the left goal post, from 53 yards out... offense sucked in second half, and that is what lost the game, for the Packers... Clay Matthews, who had three sacks of McNabb,in first half, and early in second half, went out with injury,to neuter pass rush,at critical time,in game... defense a strong eight, offense non-grata,in this game...

Saturday, October 9, 2010

Packers' news...

Nick Barnett is out for season, with a similar injury to his wrist that Bears LB Brian Urlacher(dislocated wrist)had last year...

commentary...

Randy Moss traded to Minnesota, from New England,today... if,honestly,he was the same wide receiver that he was five,or so,years ago,he would be better fit,the second time around, with Minnesota, but Favre still has problems, with the offensive line, not enough receivers, and, now with limited mobility, with a bad ankle, will he have time to get passes to Moss? i honestly do not think that it shifts power in division... i may be wrong, but to automatically think that Minnesota has the inside track to division crown,is wrong... even with Moss, they have not shown spark,so far,and to tell the truth, the only Viking worth a piss, has been Adrian Peterson, but besides him,the Viking offense has sucked, big time, and Favre has shown his age, finally(two touchdowns, five interceptions),so far... Minnesota is all in,for the Super Bowl,or bust, but the Packers, and Saints are the class of the NFC... the Packers are the highest scoring team,in NFC,but has played inconsistently(not on all cylinders)on offense,at times in games, like the 18 penalties,in Chicago, and the lack of yardage on offense, against Detroit, but honestly, they won in pure guts, and grit, against Detroit, when they literally ground out the last 6:32 of game, running the ball... it was not pretty, but a win is a win,and sometimes a win like this, shows the fans, and the team, that they have what it takes to be a very good team,in the NFL,this year...

commentary...

next game is at Washington... if Packers do not play better than they did Sunday, they are in big trouble, but honestly,i can hear(in mind's eye)what Mike Mc Carthy is telling the players... how they stunk up Lambeau,in second half, and i would not be surprised if he does not have the NFL North standings up in locker room,or has Packers,at 2-2,not 3-1,like they are,to make the biggest point that they got lucky,in beating Detroit... they should be fired up,in Washington,to play the Redskins... if not,McNabb will tear them up,period, but the Packers have too much pride, and talent,to lose to the Washington Redskins....

Sunday, October 3, 2010

Packers' news...

BEARS LOSE 17-3,TO GIANTS... PACKERS TIED FOR DIVISION LEAD,AT 3-1...

commentary...

Packers may be 3-1,but they have played an inconsistent game... special teams sucked... when defense came up with winning score, you know you are in trouble(a forty eight yard interception return,by Charles Woodson, for touchdown)... even Mike McCarthy, gets a drubbing in my eyes... pass defense was adequate, but when Lions were 10 for 17,on 3rd down,i give an adequate rating, because of winning points on defense, but honestly,it was poor,overall... Rodgers was very good in first half, and Woodson had an interception return for touchdown, but had a pass interference call against him,so he was not perfect... two fumbles on kickoffs,and/or punts, and punting was horrible... the running game saved their bacon, with grinding out the last 6:32,of the clock... i give the Packers a three, but a win is a win...

Packers' game score...

Packers grind out on the ground last 6:32 of game, beat Lions,28-26... Detroit Lions have not won in the State of Wisconsin, since 1991(Packers used to play a few home games,in Milwaukee),have lost 20 straight games to the Packers,at home, including a playoff win,in 1994... they have lost ten straight games to Packers(the longest streak,in over 50 years, going back to eleven game winning streak,by the Lions, from 1949-1954) the Packers own a 19 game regular season winning streak,at home, over the Lions, which is the longest current streak,by one team, over another team,in the NFL,not including the playoff win,in 1994...

Saturday, October 2, 2010

Packers' history...

in a 5-10-1 season,on September 7,1980,Packers beat Chicago 12-6,in overtime,on one of strangest plays in NFL history, when Chicago blocked a would be winning field goal by Chester Marcol, when football bounced off the helmet of Chicago's Alan Page, but ball bounced into Marcol's arms on the left side of the formation, and Marcol jogged into the end zone for the winning touchdown... Page played mostly for the Vikings,as one of the "Purple People Eaters" defensive line,in the late 60's to mid 70's...

Friday, October 1, 2010

opinion...

my favorite Packers' quarterback is Bart Starr, winning nine of ten playoff games, and winning five NFL titles(in six attempts),and the first two Super Bowls, and being Super Bowl MVP,in both Super Bowls, and was the true leader of those Packers' teams, along being the only one who could challenge Lombardi,on play calls, and in games... Brett Favre is third on that list, behind Arnie Herber, who is a class of 1966 Hall of Fame member, who played 11 seasons with Green Bay... in 1935,he,and Don Hutson became the first great quarterback-receiver tandem, winning the 1936 NFL title,in the process... he played,as a rookie, behind Joseph "Red" Dunn,in NFL title years,of 1930,and 1931(the last two NFL titles, from 1929-1931)... the Packers are the only team to win three straight NFL titles, and they did it twice(1929-1931,and 1965-1967)...

the 1929 Green Bay Packers were first NFL team to finish season, without a loss, being 12-0-1,outscoring the league,192-6...

commentary...

it will be a war between the Bears and Packers,Monday night... both defenses are playing well,so far, this season... both offenses are not clicking on all cylinders, but Packers look better on offense... offensive line is still a concern for Packers, and running game is a minor question mark, but is getting better... Jay Cutler is not playing too well, and defense is carrying team, but against Aaron Rodgers, the defensive backfield must play better, because they will not get so many tipped passes, like they got against Dallas, whose receivers can not catch a cold... Aaron Rodgers will dissect them all night,if offensive line holds up...Brian Urlacher is the key to their defense, for the Bears,... if he has a good game on defense, for the Bears, they will harass Aaron Rodgers all night, but Packers should win a tight low-scoring game, and if either team scores thirty points, they should win the game, but Packers are more capable of scoring thirty points,in this game...

commentary,and analysis...

first of all,the Packers did play well, but in spots, showed rust... they dominated the second half of game, scoring 21 unanswered points,to basically seal the deal, midway through the fourth period, but i saw a team, who on offense, was not quite clicking on all cylinders... Rodgers did not have gaudy numbers,yards-wise,but did have two touchdown passes, and a touchdown run,and did a very good job of handling a offense, that,at times, looked like out of sync, but you beat the teams that you are supposed to beat... defensively, the Packers chased Trent Edwards all over Lambeau Field, sacked him three times(Clay Matthews has six sacks,in first two games),and he got him three times... the defensive backfield picked off the first two passes of the year, and gave Buffalo,no chance after halftime... on my scale of 1 to 10:offense played well,an eight, and defense,in the second half, was an nine, even though Buffalo did have less than a hundred yards total offense, going into the second half, they were still in the game,at 13-7,at halftime.... next:Chicago,in Chicago, for only Monday Night Football game, unless they change times on game, the last 6 weeks of season(NFL flexable scheduling, during the last six weeks,of putting on best games on television to end season)... the Bears do not scare me,but it is a must-win,division-wise,for the Packers, because the Bears beat the Lions, opening week, and game is part of longest rivalry,in the NFL,going back to 1921... of any team, who have played 30 times,or more, against the Packers,Chicago is only team, with a winning record, against the Packers... i despise the Bears, but in this game, records do not count... no matter if either team, was, let's say,1-10,and the other team was 10-1,it would be the nastiest dogfight,on record, because Bears-Packers means WAR,to either team... they simply do not like each other,period...

Monday, September 13, 2010

commentary...

i am not a fan of the Detroit Lions, but to tell the truth, the referees, and NFL robbed the Lions of a legitimate victory, because Calvin Johnson made a great catch,in end zone, with 25 seconds to play,to legitimately beat Chicago, but because of a faulty interpretation of rule, they took away the catch, because,as he was spinning the ball on ground, they said he lost possession of ball, but he was on ground(butt, arm, both legs),in the end zone, with the ball in one hand, and he did catch the ball,in both hands... what a crime, and a crock!!!

commentary...

Packers did not play a great game, period, but they played with grit, heart, and real guts... Rodgers had a good game, respecting the Eagles, and at times, looked very good... numbers do not tell the whole story, offensively,or defensively... two years ago, would have lost game, with a comeback of the Eagles, and would have been on short end of score, because of inability of offense, and defense,of stopping the Eagles... that would have been two years ago, with an inexperienced quarterback, but Packers showed grit, and guts, and they simply refused to lose, unlike two years ago... the maturity of the team told me that the numbers may not be too gaudy,or spectacular, but is of a team with true character, and one that can win the ugly game, but also can win the shootout... the defense played, literally, shorthanded, with only four healthy defensive linemen, and one did break his hand, early in the game, and played with a club-like cast on hand most of game.. Clay Matthews(of USC)played a great, but gritty game on defense, and the defensive line scratched, and clawed all day,and never gave up the back-breaking play that killed the Packers... defensive backfield played smart, and hit with force, and determination... special teams were solid, and yet made some very good plays,on runbacks, with kickoffs, and punts...

the backup for Rodgers,Matt Flynn(out of LSU),played into fourth quarter, and was solid, threw for 304 yds,and did not make any glaring mistakes, including a 77 yard pass play, early in third period,to Brett Swain... Packers did go for the first down,a number of times, instead of going for the field goal,in fourth quarter... if it had been regular season,it(the score)would have been different... Mike McCarthy(Packers' coach) used game to evaluate his second string, and other aspects of team... so i am not upset with the score, because i saw the Packers play solidly, but not lights out...

predictions for 2010-2011...

Minnesota, and Green Bay will fight for division, then Chicago, and then Detroit... Vikings,as of this posting, have one major hole in team, and it is at wide receiver... their best pure athlete(Sidney Rice),is out for,at least, until the game, against Packers,in Green Bay,maybe longer, because of league mandate,of being on PUP(physically unable to perform)list, have to miss six games... their opening half of schedule is very tough, filled with teams, who can beat them... if Packers and Vikings are tied,or Green Bay ahead,by week seven, when they meet in Green Bay,the Packers will win division, most likely... both are very good teams who will be in playoffs, but can Favre, and company hold up,for entire season, when defenses around the league, will try to duplicate, what the Saints did to Favre, last playoff season? can Favre duplicate last season, with a very sore ankle, that he said,in a Vikings' interview,is not 100% healthy... Green Bay has problems in defensive backfield, but has the depth to make up for short term problems(Al Harris, and Atari Bigby, will be back shortly into the season,Packers' doctors have said)...

Bring on,NFL!!!!!

Green Bay Packers have placed Al Harris,Atari Bigby, and James Starks on physically unable to perform(PUP)list... no big surprises,really... Quinn Porter have been placed on injured reserve, which means his season(2010)is over... team down to 75 players...

commentary...

Packers' offense is very good, and ready for the season... defense is truly work in progress, and will get better,as season goes on... everybody thinks that Packers are due for a long run into playoffs, but i thought that last year, but they got bounced,51-45,by honestly an inferior team,in Arizona, but they could not stop Cardinals offense all day,and then Arizona got the break that gave them the game... this season should not be a repeat of last season, and they should go deeper into playoffs... when they were good last year, they were very good, and when they gave up a lot of points,or sacks, they lost to Minnesota(twice),Pittsburgh(by a point,on last play of game),and finally Arizona(in overtime,in first round of playoffs)... so i am cautiously happy about the preseason, and think that they are the best team in division, ultimately, better than Minnesota...

it will be an interesting season of the NFL---many pundits think the Packers have the team to challenge the Saints for NFC berth in Super Bowl, but the facts may not pan out that fact... i hope and wish that fact happens, but too many things have to go the Packers' way, like a stronger defense against the pass, and the run,and some teams have to have some bad years, like Minnesota,Dallas,or even New Orleans, but i will tell you that they are a very good playoff team... so bring it on,NFL...

commentary...

Packers look great on offense, and look ready for opening week... defense needs to work on defensive backfield, with two major starters out until maybe until opening week,or after that,we do have depth, but not experience, but playing games helps... special teams did help last night,in a big way,but has been shaky all preseason, but last night has to improve confidence...

Packers' game score,part 2...

PACKERS 59,COLTS 24;i know exhibition season, but Packers looked good tonight... first team Colts looked good, but giving up 59 points, defensive football was nowhere to be found, for the Colts... most points ever scored, against a NFL team,at Lambeau, for the Packers... still need to work on defensive backfield, for Packers, and two starters were out(Atari Bigby, and Al Harris)... offense are ready for opening week... last points came on a 75 yard punt return,by Jason Chery...

Packers' game score...

Packers 31,Colts17-3rd Quarter... Manning still in game, but his first drive of 3rd quarter... Rodgers threw three touchdowns,Manning threw two touchdowns.... Colts defense is missing two starters, got hurt in game... Packers just hit Manning and picked up a fumble, and scored on next play... fifth touchdown;Packers 38,Colts 17... Joseph Addai got run over, and may be out of the game... final score later...

Packers' game score...

PACKERS WIN,27-24... offense had nearly 450 yards, including nearly 180 yards rushing, and defense picked off two passes, but special teams muffed a kickoff... punts and kicking went well besides that... Mason Crosby kicked two field goals, including one of 51 yards... Aaron Rodgers looked great, including throwing a 56 yard pass,on his first pass,to Greg Jennings,i believe, and drove Packers to two touchdowns... first team defense had three starters out,but improved during game...

Packers' update...

first team offense scored two touchdowns for Packers, but first team defense did not play well... as i write this,Packers up,17-14,and defense stopped Seattle for a punt, but a flag on punt, and Derrick Martin, out of Wyoming, got ejected for punching a Seahawks' player,on punt coverage... commentary...

the Packers are simply a playoff team talent-wise... but division champion, maybe, but if Brett Favre comes back to Minnesota, and back from an ankle surgery, which was minor,in scope, but for a 40+year old professional quarterback,it is career-threatening,but again,we are talking about Brett Favre, who has not missed a start,in nearly 18 years, and would pass 300 consecutive regular season starts,if he plays this season, and i expect he will play this season... there is nothing that tells me that he is going to retire, and since he is checking with Dr. James Andrews, one of the best doctors in the world about his ankle... he will be making his decision this,or next week, and i would be very stunned,if he makes his decision to retire permanent, because he is a tough person, and a prima donna, and he wants to play football,period...

commentary...

if Packers have weaknesses in their team,it is in their offensive line, and in their defensive backfield... you can not allow enough sacks of a quarterback,to fill a grocery store, and both cornerbacks,and/or safeties are hurting, and with a major lack of experience in defensive tackle, early on,it may be rocky, but Al Harris(one of the best in NFL)says he will be back for opening game of 2010 season, and Atari Bigby, will be back before then, and with the suspension of Johnny Jolly(mentioned before in blog),for at least the 2010 season, the Packers are hurting on defense... i hope Bryan Bulaga(1st round pick,2010)plays up to potential, and Mark Tauscher plays the whole season, like he did the last half of 2009... he is injury-prone...

Packers' news...

Atari Bigby,Al Harris, and James Starks, failed their initial physicals... Harris is no surprise, will be on unable to play list, and may be missing the opening six games, because of rehabbing his knee... Harris was not hit by a player, last year, when he was injured, against San Francisco... Atari Bigby must have more trouble with his ankle then previously thought... like i said, that may be the one major trouble spot that the Packers have, excluding the offensive line, but the Packers will be better... James Starks just did not come into camp in playing shape... before you say the Packers are in trouble:keep in mind,it is the first day of training camp,so let them get in condition, and be a fan of the Green Bay Packers... GO PACKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Packers' news...

the Green Bay Packers sign offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga to a 5 year deal... out of Iowa,he was first round pick,in 2010...

commentary...

the Green Bay Packers will fight Minnesota for the division this year;offense is one of the best in NFL... there is a big question about offensive line, age and injuries, and if Packers can avoid major injuries to offensive line, they will be very good offensively... on defense, they have questions in defensive backfield... Al Harris will be out for the first six games, recovering from knee surgery, and injury, sustained against San Francisco, last year,i believe... the rookies on the team will be tested early, and often... Johnny Jolly is suspended for the 2010 season, and beyond,if CBA talks break down, and strike happens next year,so defensive line will be makeshift, early, but will be better,as season goes on... the Packers have to be better inside the 20,and special teams have to be better than last year,in which they were pathetic last year... Mason Crosby has to improve, like he was in 2008,and longer in distance on field goals... one thing good for the Packers:they have a very good schedule,to work on,and play this year... they will score a lot of points... Aaron Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks in football, and Ryan Grant has to improve on his inside running, and return to 2008 form, which i believe that he will, and the receiving corps has to improve inside the 20,by catching the tough passes... no arguments with Donald Driver, but everyone else has to pick up their game inside the 20,and offensive line has to keep Rodgers upright in the pocket, and not allow so many penalties,and/or sacks... the Packers are a true playoff team, and with the right breaks, they would be in the fight for the Super Bowl berth in the NFC... can the Packers win NFC North, this year? yes,but Minnesota,i hate to admit,is early favorite,if Favre comes back, and i am convinced that he is coming back... if defense improves, and offensive line improves, the Packers will be tough to beat this season...

One of my favorite Raiders' all-time players has died:Jack Tatum.... he played college with the late Woody Hayes,at THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY... he wrote a book called,"They called me Assassin",which the Steelers, and other people did not like... who cares!!!!!!!! i loved it... he was 61,and a three-time Pro Bowler, and won a National Championship, with Ohio State... he played nine years,of ten, with the Raiders... he hit Darryl Stingley,of the New England Patriots, during an exhibition game,in,i believe,1978,and paralyzed him, from the neck down... he said,in the book, that he did try to talk to Stingley, but did not do it...

Friday, July 23, 2010

commentary...

first of all,i admire Brett Favre,as a player... i will admit that, right off... a Hall of Fame career,on the field,no doubt... numbers do not lie,at all... however, the way that he treated the Packers' fans, when he left Green Bay,for New York, and then Minnesota leaves a very bitter taste in my mouth, because he acted like a spoiled brat, and did badmouth the fans, with his arrogant smirk, and basically told the city, the team, and the fans,of the Packers, that he did not care about the city, the team,or the fans at all... it has always been about him all along... the fans in Green Bay loved him,and he basically crapped on the fans,by acting like the fans,in New York, and then Minnesota, were the best fans in the NFL,by carrying on,like he loved Green Bay,and then New York, but by the end of his time in Green Bay,and New York,he acted like he did not want to be in either place, and his play on the field showed it,and his arrogance off the field showed his contempt for the fans... watch out,if Brett does not get back to the Super Bowl this year,he will pout, and act like he simply does not care about anything... i feel sorry for the fans of the Vikings, because his true arrogance will come out,and he will act like a spoiled brat... as a fan of football, and the Packers,we(as a corporate entity) deserve better treatment, from a Hall of Fame player, who we cheered for sixteen years, but will we get it? i simply doubt it... maybe at his Hall of Fame induction, but again who knows and, finally, who cares?...
