NFL news,and comments...

Seattle Seahawks' wide receiver Percy Harvin, who came over from the Minnesota Vikings, has had injury issues, while at Minnesota, and basically wore out his welcome with the Vikings,is scheduled to have surgery to repair a torn labium,in his hip, this week... he will be out three or four months... he was supposed to be the Seahawks' punt/kick returner, and a key piece of the Seahawks' offense, and a main weapon for quarterback Russell Wilson... the Seahawks will fight the 49ers for the NFC Western Division crown, but the injury to Harvin will not help the Seahawks' chances...

a letter to Qadry Ismail...

dear Qadry:you were a teammate of Hall of Fame member Cris Carter for four seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, and as a former teammate, you called him a "bona fide" diva... Sour Grapes, you have Qadry!!!!!! i rather have a Hall of Fame member as a teammate than have a journeyman like you,who fought to even be on a fifty three man roster every year of your so so career... as Carter goes into Canton, tomorrow, you will be a stupid, ungrateful, footnote,in NFL history... you are,in my opinion, are lower than pond scum... Carter fought through an early bout with drugs, early in his NFL career, with Philadelphia, before going on to being one of the best wide receivers in NFL history, and in the same realm,as Hall of Fame member Jerry Rice, but you,Qadry, have the ultimate gall to badmouth Carter... you should be ashamed for your moronic comments...

a day at Lambeau Field...

it is overcast today, with a 30% chance of rain, and a 70% chance of rain tomorrow... should be a gorgeous day to be "singin' in the rain"... had to get a Gene Kelly reference in there...

blog statement...

someone just asked me,if being a Packers' shareholder/owner would affect me writing this blog... first of all, this blog, for the most part,is a Packers' blog, written by a Packers' shareholder/owner... however,my opinions will be the same, and if the Packers are not playing well,i will be critical of them, but i will never be ashamed,or put a bad light on "my team",because i am so proud to be a part of the public ownership of the Green Bay Packers,period...

comments...

the NFL has a new pad rule for protection,in thigh, and knee pads, and some players are complaining about them... however,Minnesota Vikings' running back Adrian Peterson will not hear any of it... he basically read the riot act to the complainers, saying that,"they are NFL players, and that if they think that a pad that weighs about two ounces slows them down, they don't need to be playing in the League, Come on,Seriously!!!!!" i applaud Peterson, for doing it,period...

clarification on post...

Green Bay Packers' defensive coordinator Dom Capers joined the Packers,as defensive coordinator,on January 19,2009,but just over two years later, the Packers won Super Bowl XLV,with a defense that was ranked fifth that year,in,i believe, total team defense...

commentary...

the first week of Packers' practice has been enlightening to everyone... the offense has been sharp, and the defense has had a major chip on its shoulder, based on the physicality of the first practice in pads... the defensive backfield may be young in experience, but they will be improved... note:when Dom Capers arrived in Green Bay,as defensive coordinator, the Packers' defense was not too good, but the defense,in 2010,helped to win Super Bowl XLV,but injuries(Nick Collins),and free agency losses(Cullen Jenkins,to Philadelphia;now in New York, with the Giants) took off the edge off the defense(actually too much of a dulling of edge that the Packers' defense gave up more yards that the Packers' offense gained,in 2011,even though the Packers were 15-1,and won every game that they led going into the fourth quarter,a 15-0 record,on that point),so Capers had to basically rebuild the defense, and have a nastiness to the defense that was there,in 2010,and from the first week of training camp,it appears that the edge may be back... maybe???

a day at Lambeau Field...

another gorgeous day sitting in Lambeau Field would be my ultimate dream... today is beautiful in Green Bay...

respect to desperate dreamers...

i feel sorry for the desperate dreamers, who go through training camp, and get cut on the last day of training camp as the 54th man,on a 53 man roster... simply said, there are many professional football players who would make a 53 man roster, but for some reason, they do not make the final cut... to them,i say simply good luck to you all,you desperate dreamers...

commentary...

wide receiver Greg Jennings signed a five year contract with the Minnesota Vikings this spring, after seven years,in Green Bay... everybody seems to understand that, but Greg, because he can not seem to shut his mouth and just play football... well, number 15 is a spoiled rotten bigmouth, who has badmouthed Packers' quarterback Aaron Rodgers throughout the spring, and referred to Rodgers,as '12' and saying basically it is all about him in Green Bay,in his latest comments... number 15 thinks that it should be all about him...... well, number 15 has talent,no doubt, but his quarterback(Christian Ponder)has not shown anybody his talent... Ponder, last year, had three games with a quarterback rating of under 42,and if running back Adrian Peterson had not run for 2,097 yards, including 409 yards against the Packers,i hate to admit, the Vikings would not had been in the playoffs... Ponder threw wounded ducks all over the field, and at times, looks like a rookie, last year... number 15,you tend to forget that Aaron Rodgers and the Packers' organization were very good to you when you were injured the last two seasons, and you won a Super Bowl ring,in Green Bay... well, when you are freezing in Minnesota, and when a wounded duck of a pass, from Ponder, lands on your feet, who will really care about your inane, and stupid comments??? not me,number 15... number 15,GROW UP!!!!!!!!!

commentary...

the comments by 49ers' quarterback Colin Kaepernick that he could hear the Packers' defense really complain, and argue with each other about blown defensive assignments during 45-31 win by the San Francisco 49ers' in divisional playoff game, over the Packers... i honestly would not be surprised by his comments, because the game was a massacre, not score-wise,but almost every other way possible... however,Kaepernick may believe that the same thing may happen again,as he badmouthed the Packers' defense, over what happened in January... i admit that the 49ers may be favored, opening week,at home, against the Packers, and they should be,like i have said earlier, last year is last year, and let me remind that both rosters are different, and then Kaepernick has had eleven starts,in his NFL career, not any more... if i was a member of the Packers' team defense,i would really respond opening week, and just remember what the 49ers' entire team did that night,to the Packers, last season,in the playoffs, but remember that this is not last year, even though it is an afternoon game,in San Francisco, like in the playoffs... the major key is that the Packers and the 49ers are different teams this year, and whether that is good or bad for both teams,it is not last year for either team... both teams are determined to be in the playoffs, and have talent to be there, and both teams will change because of various factors(injuries, etc)during the season, and the major thing for both teams is to be healthy, and going into on a roll into the playoffs, for both teams to make a legitimate run at Super Bowl XLVIII... a win opening week for either team will only prove to either team who honestly came to play that week, not who is going to Super Bowl XLVIII... rosters do not win games, but what team can execute their game plans better than the other team... pundits say that the 49ers have one of the best rosters in NFL,but they forget that rosters do not win games, but team execution really does matter,period...

Packers' news...

Packers sign 2013 NFL Draft first round draft pick Datone Jones, out of UCLA,to a four year,$7.776 million contract(his rookie contract),and three years of it guaranteed... Packers have signed every 2013 NFL Draft pick, and finished paperwork,on eve of training camp...

trivia...

what major college football team modeled their helmets after the Packers??? answer:the Georgia Bulldogs, who wanted to model their helmets after the Packers' excellence,in the 60's,so they asked the Packers, and the NFL,for permission, with respect... their team colors are red, black, and white

comments...

being a shareholder/owner,of the Packers means today is the most important day of being a shareholder/owner,as i watched the shareholder/owner meeting from Lambeau Field, earlier today... tomorrow starts training camp,as team physicals and testing starts camp... practices start Friday,so as of midnight tonight, last year is last year...

correction...

i corrected an error that i made,in the previous post... it was a minor error... late in post i erroneously noted that Greg Jennings signed with the Packers, not the Vikings, for this season... i know better,folks... i replaced the name of the teams, and corrected the slight mistake... note:i always read my blog after posting it,so i can correct mistakes that i make...

commentary...

i am beginning to really "despise" Minnesota Vikings' wide receiver Greg Jennings... not for his talent, but for his big mouth... the chic pick to win the NFC North are the Minnesota Vikings, with the addition of Jennings, coming over from rival Green Bay,but it is his big mouth that is giving him a reputation of a whiner, and a loudmouth... he has talent to be productive, but has missed games, due to injury, the last two years,so is he prone to injury??? his latest comment to dig at his time with the Packers is to call the Packers' offense "cookie cutter",but Greg, let me ask you a really stupid question:why did you sign with the Vikings??? was it for the great offensive passing attack??? you had that in Green Bay with quarterback Aaron Rodgers... was it for the Super Bowl ring??? you had that with the Packers... did you want to be the top passing attack option,in Minnesota??? unfortunately, the offensive attack goes through number 28(running back Adrian Peterson),and will do so,for the time being... let us compare quarterbacks:Packers' quarterback Aaron Rodgers:one Super Bowl ring, one NFL MVP,and the lowest interception rate in NFL history, and a passer rating of over 100 the last four years, including a NFL record quarterback rating of 122.5,in 2011... the only other year that he was a starter, his first year without Brett Favre,he had a rating of 93.8... the Packers had a record that year of 6-10,included a record of 1-8,after leading with four minutes to play,in games that the Packers lost,so the Packers were very competitive, but honestly Rodgers had to learn how to win,and the Packers' fan base had to take their lumps, but two years later the Packers won Super Bowl XLV,and a year after that, they were 15-0,when leading after three periods... now for Christian Ponder,a quarterback with very, very good talent, but last year had three games of a quarterback rating of under 42,including the first meeting at Lambeau Field(a 41.9 rating)... no Super Bowl ring,no NFL MVP,but just talent... so Greg, why did you sign with the Vikings??? i do know,Greg... we all know... THE MONEY,and you had to prove that you had something left,in the tank, and YOU wanted to stick it in the Packers' ear,period... unfortunately for you,you did take less money to sign with the Vikings, and after this season, you get to freeze, outdoors,in Minnesota, for two years... so who is in the "cookie cutter" offense??? one guess??? i guess that you will complain about the weather,in Minnesota, after this season, too,as you did in Green Bay??? you are welcome(laughing)!!!!!!!!!

commentary...

training camp for most teams starts next week... the Packers start training camp on July 25th,one day after the annual stockholder/owner meeting on July 24th... i told you last year that i would be there this year, but right now the finances are just out of sight, which does suck big time,period... however, being a shareholder/owner of the Green Bay Packers is still a dream, and i am so very proud of being part of the public ownership of the Packers... i am looking forward to the 2013-2014 NFL season,in which the Packers are being overlooked as serious contenders for the NFL playoffs, and to make a long run towards Super Bowl XLVIII... the pundits overlook the fact that the team defense has been improved, barring injury to a major intent, the Packers should win the NFC North... it will not be easy, never expect it to be easy, work like champions, and results will come... having the sixth toughest NFL schedule this year will be a real tough hill to climb, including the rematch with the current NFC Champions, the San Francisco 49ers,opening week,in San Francisco... you tend to forget that the 49ers gained 579 yards on offense,in a 45-31 massacre,in the NFC divisional playoff game,in San Francisco, last January, but folks, the Packers' team defense was humiliated that night... however, the Packers have not forgotten the bad taste of that bitter loss, and the pundits expect the same thing to happen to the Packers, opening week, but folks,i hate to rain on their obituary of opening week, for the Packers, but folks, like i have said before, last year is last year... the Packers may have a tough day, opening week, but teams change during the season, good and bad... to remind you during their Super Bowl XLV-winning season, the Packers had fifteen men on injured reserve, and had to have help to get into the playoffs, received it,with wins,by Philadelphia, over the New York Giants, and a big road win,by Detroit(to break a NFL record twenty six game road losing streak),at Tampa Bay,in overtime(both wins came on the same Sunday afternoon),and then they steamrolled the Philadelphia Eagles,Atlanta Falcons(the number one seed in the NFC),and the Chicago Bears,in the NFC Championship game, all at their houses, and then beat the Pittsburgh Steelers,31-25,in Super Bowl XLV... the Packers may be overlooked,as NFC contenders, but folks,to tell you the truth, they may absolutely adore the role of the underdog, this season... expect some team to be a surprise this year, and i say,why not the Packers?

financial news...

Forbes magazine ranks the Green Bay Packers as the 18th most valuable sports franchise in the world....

correction....

Victor Cruz even has it better!!!!!! he signed not a five year contract, but he signed a six year,$45.879 million contract... the numbers were corrected by the NFL... so,Victor,Shut up!!!!!!!!!!!!

stop griping,Mister Cruz...

Victor Cruz, wide receiver of the New York Giants, recently signed a five year,$43 million contract, and yet laments the fact that he is still "underpaid",and is not happy with his new contract... my opinion: i am getting very, very tired of hearing about prima donnas complaining about things that the average American would absolutely "take the money and run",if they were paid that much... i am tired of the baloney... the players, for the most part, who are humble, and feel blessed to be in the NFL are being humiliated by some of the players, who are immature, arrogant, and very stupid in what they have done in the last few offseasons... people are struggling to be financially stable in America, and now you have young arrogant football players who lament their paychecks,or doing other things, and they show utmost arrogance,in their "so-called" superiority,or what they believe that they are superior, when they got caught doing stupid things in life... to Cruz, just stop griping about an average $8.6 million/per year contract, and just grow up,and play football...

Packers' news...

Green Bay Packers reported two things:operating profits are up 26.4%,to a total of $56.3 million, and total revenue is up two percent to $308.1 million;both are franchise records... Packers' president, and CEO Mark Murphy has said that retiring former Packers' quarterback Brett Favre's number four will happen, soon, but not next year... knowing that Favre will probably go into the Pro Football Hall of Fame,in his first year,in 2016,i expect the jersey retirement ceremony to come nearer to 2016,to capitalize on of his probable induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame,in(most likely)2016...

preseason ranking of NFC North...

my preseason ranking of the NFC North:1)Green Bay Packers:too much Aaron Rodgers, and an improving team defense,2)Minnesota Vikings:too much Adrian Peterson,3)Chicago Bears:too little Jay Cutler,4)Detroit Lions:what defensive backfield, and who is Matthew Stafford going to throw besides Calvin Johnson, and Reggie Bush???

commentary...

i can not wait for training camps throughout the NFL to start... i am very, very tired of hearing about NFL players doing really stupid things... to those players, grow up,and play football... to Aaron Hernandez, you will get what you deserve, and simply go away... to Lance Easley(replacement referee),your fifteen minutes of stupidity(fame)end at this year's training camp for me,as last year is last year... right now,you can get everyone in Seattle to buy a drink or dinner, but in Green Bay,you would thirst or starve, because no one wants you around,to remind them that you made the wrong call in Seattle, even though you still say,to this day, that it was the correct call, even though,if i can remind everyone that it took the NFL,and the referees, involved in their lockout only two days to come up with a contract, because the NFL was embarrassed by the lousy call, and game that your so-called crew called that miserable Monday night... i knew that the referees had something to mess up,when a Packers' cornerback was called for a phantom pass interference call late in the game, that gave the Seahawks a much needed first down on a third down and more than ten yards needed that did extend a drive for the Seahawks... honestly, that call made me more upset that the "Fail Mary" play, because it was simply the wrong call,period... to Easley,go away... as for your book coming out, called "Making the Call",it will be toilet paper very shortly...

Sam comes to radio, sixty seven years ago today...

sixty seven years ago today, the Adventures of Sam Spade debuted on ABC... Dashell Hammett's great pulp detective starred Howard Duff, and later Steve Dunne, and Lurene Tuttle,as his secretary Effie... Duff, and Hammett were caught up in the chase of communists in the late 40's-early 50's... the sponsor,Wildroot Cream Oil,pulled sponsorship after Duff got yanked from the series, and Hammett's name was also yanked from series beginning... NBC,at time the series' network cancelled the series in 1950,but a write in campaign gathered over 200,000 letters(at the time a very impressive number of letters)caused NBC to hire Dunne... the series lasted about six more months... note:you can still buy Wildroot Cream Oil on the internet...

football news...

the NFL Network ranked the "Fail Mary" play 16th of their top 100 plays of 2012-2013... enough said...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY,DAD!!!!!!!!!!

today is my father's birthday... my father is a sweetheart of a person, who has had a long life of funny memories, and is the heart of my family... he would give the shirt off his back, but can be stern at times of being a father... his sense of humor is legendary, and has been known to do some very strange things that could be considered very funny, and known as "Don Lore",which even would make him laugh at himself,at times, like the time he started to paint rooms,in the "Big House"(the house we lived in),when dressed in a brand new suit, including shoes... his wife,Patti, asked him,"what in the world was he doing???" his response,"Painting",and she just rolled her eyes, and walked away... listening to him laugh with his sister,Donna, when down in Morro Bay,makes me just smile, and some stories that i had no clue about, but that is my father, laughing at the stories, and at himself... i love him more than i will ever say...

commentary...

i do accept the "Fail Mary" loss to the Seattle Seahawks by the Packers(a 14-12,loss),but i will never forget the game, because,"we wuz robbed"(my opinion)... however,as a Packers' shareholder/owner,i believe it did affect the Packers' season, because the divisional playoff game had a chance to be in Green Bay,instead of San Francisco, and a week off would have helped... folks,i am not saying that the Packers would have beaten the 49ers,but being in Lambeau Field, with cold weather, would have affected the 49ers' game plan somewhat, but honestly the Packers' team defense could not have played worse, and they really, really sucked... giving up 181 yards rushing to a quarterback told me that the Packers were not prepared to play that night,period... they opened the 2012-2013 NFL season with three and half periods of dormant team offense, against the 49ers,in Green Bay,in 30-22 loss to the 49ers(they scored 15 points in last ten minutes of game, that day),and closed out the season with a 45-31 massacre,in Candlestick Park(my name for the stadium-grew up with that name, and so it will be always that way to me)... the game was not even that close,period... however, last year was last year... they are talking about Colin Kaepernick like he is the second coming of Hall of Fame members Steve Young, and Joe Montana, but folks,he has played only eleven games at quarterback... he is impressive,no doubt, but folks,it is only eleven games, not eleven years in NFL... is he that good a quarterback,or is he a flash in a pan??? right now,he is nearer the former, not the latter, and that is a plus for the 49ers...

Sunday, July 7, 2013

commentary...

Lance Easley, the replacement referee, who made the call in the "Fail Mary" game, that literally changed the Packers' season,is hamming up with the Seattle Seahawks' players during a charity sofftball game in Seattle... what would make Packers' fans upset is a picture of him signaling a touchdown with wide receiver Golden Tate, who basically stole the football from M.D. Jennings on the last play of the game(week three),last year... there are other pictures of him doing the same stuff with other Seahawks' players... funny thing is that he is coming out with a book, called,"Making the Call"... what would make me,and other fans upset is that he wants to make the best of his 15 minutes of fame, and even though he may not want to stuff it up the Packers' ears,it just appears that he is enjoying doing it... what real piece of work!!!!!!

blog statement...

correction...

i wanted to mention that every team in the Packers division has won ten games in a season over the last three seasons, but i forgot the total name of the division(as the NFL),NOT the NFL North... oops,folks... i did correct the error...

crazy,crazy stunt...

Jonathan Rice,of Longmont,Colorado, ran a mile,Sunday,in six minutes and thirty seconds... no big deal, you may say.... however,he ran in a full decked out "Darth Vader" outfit,in Death Valley, where,Sunday,it was 129 degrees outside... it was the third straight year that he has done it...

commentary...

pundits have said that the Packers should be improved, and should win the NFC North... that is the good news... now for the bad news:the Packers have not had a 100 yard rushing game(one person),in,i believe, forty three games, longest streak of futility,in the NFL... two years ago, even though the Packers were 15-1,they were dead last,in yards allowed on defense,in the NFL... they improved to number twelve,in that category, last year(they were number five,in that category,in 2010,the year they won Super Bowl XLV)... the offense suffered last year because of a porous offensive line when they allowed quarterback Aaron Rodgers to be sacked 53 times, most in the NFL,including nine times(eight allowed),against Seattle,in the first half of their "Fail Mary" loss to the Seahawks(one sack was called back because of a penalty),but still Rodgers got pounded that night, but Rodgers had his second best offensive season numbers-wise,next to his 2011 NFL MVP season, last year, even with that porous line... their team defense was very inexperienced at the start of last season, but improved to the point that they allowed less than twenty points in a game many times, including a 55-7 thumping of the Tennessee Titans,at Lambeau Field,in week sixteen(game fifteen)... the three games against Minnesota(one playoff game) skewed the numbers... 509 yards rushing by Vikings' running back Adrian Peterson(2012 NFL MVP),against the Packers, will do that... even though every team in the NFL North,in the last three years, have won,at least, ten games,in a season, the only team to win ten games,or more,in EVERY SEASON,in last three years, are the Packers...

commentary...

237 years ago,a republic was born, after a war with England that would change the world, called the United States of America... you may agree,or disagree, with the history of America, and with the direction of the nation, but it is a country that all people want to come to... give us your poor, and et al... today is the day of independence for a country that gets knocked down, and belittled in some corners of the planet, but this country will come to the aid of any country that needs help, and will do it,with nothing expected in return... i am not being a sycophant for the country, but i am being a citizen, and patriot... you may agree,or disagree, with the government, and the president, but you must love and respect the country, because the country is what is paramount to us all... i am an American, and that is what is important to me... i am a citizen of probably the best country in the world, you may disagree with me about that, and that is a right that i will fight for, because i am an patriot, and that is what matters to me,period... to the USA,i tip my hat, because i believe that it is time to really understand what this country really means, and it has nothing to do with waving the flag, but to understand that America is...

commentary...

nowadays, the NFL is quite boring, mostly talking about the case in Boston, but now you have fans making money off EBay,off jersey sales of Aaron Hernandez... to those fans,i say that you have no heart for the victim,of this crime... someone died, folks, and people just want to make money off infamy,of a real scumbag... that is totally disgusting, period, and to the NFL player, who said that Hernandez is a great guy, friend, and teammate, basically shut up,period... i am sick and tired of NFL players getting into trouble, and only wish football would start tomorrow, without a doubt...
