commentary...

Packer fans are somewhat depressed, because the team has done very little in free agency this year,so far... that is a fact, but let us get to what the Chicago Bears,Detroit Lions, and Minnesota Vikings have done,so far,in free agency... the Bears have added an offensive lineman(Jermon Bushrod),and a tight end(Martellus Bennett),to their offense, but their front seven,on defense,is their main weakness on their team, because they are aging, and a little long in the tooth, and they may lose linebacker Brian Urlacher to retirement,or to a short-term deal, which means the Bears have to improve their front seven on defense, and the Bears have not done that,yet... the Lions have added a running back(Reggie Bush),retained most of their secondary, but lost Cliff Avril, their dominant pass rusher... the Vikings have added wide receiver Greg Jennings, and backup quarterback Matt Cassel to their offense, but their defense has remained static... Can Jennings make that much difference, when they did lose Percy Harvin,to Seattle... funny thing is that nothing i honestly see in free agency signings scare me,at all, because Jennings,Bush, and Bennett all have negative factors that may shadow their overall talent:Jennings, injuries the last two years,Bush is a jitterbug, but is he getting old,football-wise,and Bennett has been known to drop passes at critical times(did that in Dallas, for the Cowboys, and in New York, with the Giants),even though he really has talent... even though the Packers lost Erik Walden, and Charles Woodson,Walden was a backup most of the last two years, and Woodson, even though i have utmost respect for him,he has lost a step in covering fast wide receivers... the offense for the Packers does need a running back, but basically they have players that can do that by committee, and their receiving corps, even without Jennings, has not changed that much, and that is a very good thing, because they learned to how to thrive without an injured Jennings... the best quarterback in NFC North happens to be Aaron Rodgers, for the Packers, and until that really changes, the Packers are the team to beat, even though, honestly, the division has been became tougher to play, without a doubt... the defense is younger but perhaps has the most talented secondary,in the NFC North, since 2010,when the Packers won Super Bowl XLV...
