in the 1958 NFL season,the season before Vince Lombardi became head coach,the Packers went 1-10-1:they tied the Detroit Lions,13-13,on October 5,1958,and on October 26,1958,they beat the Philadelphia Eagles,38-35... they were 0-6 on road,and 1-4-1,at City Stadium(renamed:Lambeau Field)... in the 1958 NFL draft,the Packers drafted Hall of Fame members Jim Taylor,and Ray Nitschke,along with the only member on the 50th anniversary All-NFL team,not in the Hall of Fame,guard Jerry Kramer... the coach:Ray "Scooter" McLean... in the immortal words of New York sportswriter,and Green Bay native,Red Smith:Smith said,"they overwhelmed one opponent,under whelmed ten,and whelmed one"... what a great quote...
