commentary...

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!! that is what the NFL is right now...i find incredulous that all the NFL is talking about is who is going to be the first overall draft pick,or where DeSean Jackson is going to play next year... honestly, who cares, really cares, because the NFL has driven that dead dog into the ground, about twenty feet deep, and my interest has gone out of the window... i rather talk about football, instead where Johnny Manziel (2012 Heisman Trophy winner)goes in the draft, but any more talk of that manure, and i will vomit 24/7/365,because i am so very tired of it... (i am joking, folks, but you get my point, don't you???)...

Packers' news...

Packers' head coach Mike McCarthy says that safety Micah Hyde will have a legitimate chance to start for the Packers this upcoming season... Packers were the only team in NFL last season, not to have an interception from their safeties... that has to improve,period...

commentary...

all the teams in the NFC North have improved their team defenses, but honestly, you can dissect each team in the division... of the three major contenders,Detroit Lions,on paper, are very dangerous, but is there an improvement in the defensive backfield??? Chicago Bears are also very dangerous,on paper, offensively, but again,is there an improvement on defense??? yes,but there are major holes,in the defensive backfield... the Packers are not perfect,either... with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, running back Eddie Lacy, and head coach Mike McCarthy, the Packers have foundation of a very good offense, even with the departure of wide receiver James Jones, but the problem with the Packers was a lack of a pass rush... only so much Clay Matthews can do... with the addition of Jared Allen to the Bears, and Julius Peppers to the Packers, both teams will be dangerous with a pass rush, and is that important??? ask Aaron Rodgers, who got sacked eight times in first half(another sack was called back by penalty),against Seattle,in the "Fail Mary" loss(14-12),to the Seahawks, two seasons ago... i do not mention the Vikings because, honestly, they are rebuilding their defense, and quarterback position, this season, but with running back Adrian Peterson, they are a wounded, but dangerous,team... so games in the NFC North may not be the "glamour" games that people may want, but all of them will be bruising wars between teams that simply, really,do not like each other,period...

comments...

you may think that the NFL has done nothing of any value recently... you are right...  a funny note:Brett Favre was ousted by Rich Gannon in the first round of NFL.com's "the Greatest Quarterback in NFL history" poll... my opinion:first,Favre is a certain Hall of Fame member, and Gannon could not carry his jockstrap in practice... Gannon was a good quarterback, but his statistics do not even stack up to Favre,period... whomever did the poll is absolutely stupid,period...

commentary...

i traveled 50,000 miles on my thumb,in the 1990's... being homeless will do that to you,or as i put it,being "on the road" will do that to you... do not take this the wrong way,but there are certain things that i do honestly miss about it still;not the sleeping under whatever i could get to sleep under,or on top of,like snow, cement, warm grills, under bridges, under trees,or on branches in bushes,in back of Safeway stores, and on cots in those stores(i knew some people who worked there, who let me sleep in the break room, sometimes),wood chips,a church hallway(out of the wind),many shelters, many movie theaters, and some hotel rooms(when i had money)... my favorite saying is,"a nickel in my pocket",because there had been many a day that i had a nickel in my pocket,or even less... what i do miss about it is the travel every day, because no matter where i went,i saw different things every day,and there are four trips that i remember the best:the first trip in 1991,from Sacramento,California,to Lubbock Texas/Amarillo,Texas... i traveled 18 days,in February, that year, before having to rush home on a Greyhound, paid for by the State of Texas, from Lubbock/Amarillo... i hitchhiked all the way, from Reno,to Tatum,New Mexico(seven miles from the Texas border)over that time, and it only rained two and a half hours,in those eighteen days,so i really enjoyed the walk through rural New Mexico,at that time of year-"nickel in my pocket" time... the other three times were the two times i traveled to New York/Connecticut(one time i got so sick most of the trip-104 degree fever, and chills, and a major pier six verbal brawl, with Greyhound on both sides of the country, over my travel)and the second time was when i got mugged in White Plains,New York, and had to hitchhike all the way to Akron,Ohio(i collapsed on a church doorstep, after six days of living hell(puddle jumping* through Ohio/Pennsylvania),and the final time was in August/September 1998,when i walked 100 miles in Colorado(August),and Nebraska(September)... *puddle jumping means that you get many rides in those states, but you go not very far with every ride... i remember one ride, was one quarter mile in length(one off ramp),and that happened for six days... a living hell, you see... i could walked faster, and further than taking those rides... what i miss the most is the scenery that i really got to see, especially on those 100 mile walks through Colorado, and Nebraska... what real beauty... what a hobo's life... i would not have missed any of it... i have seen Zion National Park,Rocky Mountain National Park, both ends of the Grand Canyon(Page,Arizona, and the Hoover Dam),including the South Rim of the Grand Canyon,in a blizzard, every coast of these United States, and waking up in the Nevada desert, seeing the hues of the cold desert meeting the hot sun,in the morning... what a beautiful sight... you may never understand or realize how much i appreciated that time,in my life...

NFL news...

the NFL have banned "dunking" the football,in accordance of rule of using the football as a prop,in a touchdown celebration... NFL officials will have the option to consult with New York,on replays, during games, like the "War Room",in Toronto during NHL games... i guess it is the first step toward improving the instant replay system...

comments...

am taking day off... have slight headache, and just need day off... by the way, there is really nothing going on in the NFL to report on,because i am getting quite bored with it... unless you want to know that Carolina Panthers' quarterback Cam Newton says that he has had an injured ankle for the last three years... he notes that it may have happened in college... my opinion:what manure!!!!!!!!

commentary...

i have a very hard time really being excited about the NFL,right now, because it is the time between the scouting combine, and the 2014 NFL Draft... free agency is happening, and the NFL Winter/Spring Meetings are this week, where we,as fans, will find out what rules will change... what fun!!!!!!!!(not really),and i am anxious for anything but boredom... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!!! wake up,fans, but there is nothing, but stories about signing, and trading players... what boredom... a real snorefest.... back to sleep... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!!  by the way,had to make you laugh...

a day at Lambeau Field...

a gorgeous day in Green Bay... i am anxious for football, and today would be perfect to be dreaming about watching the Packers play, let's say,the Chicago Bears,at Lambeau Field... too bad,not a cloud in sky...

a milestone...

Martin Luther King,Jr led the non-violent march from Selma,to Montgomery,Alabama,49 years ago,today...

Thursday, March 20, 2014

commentary...

the old saying is,"there is a season for play, and a season for pay",and people may wonder why former Packers' wide receiver James Jones took more money from the Raiders then take less money from the Packers??? i honestly do not begrudge Jones,or any other player in the NFL from making more money,at all... what bothers me is if they,in their travails, badmouth their former team in the media, because it shows absolutely no class in doing so,and that is my opinion... Jones has shown class, because i have not heard a peep from him... example:former Packers' quarterback Brett Favre badmouthing the Packers' fans, when he signed with the Minnesota Vikings,in 2009... i never argued about the money he made with the Vikings... it was about his arrogance, and his big mouth at that time...

NFL news...

the NFL Competition Committee are mulling two ideas to change the point after touchdown rule:one is moving the football from the two yard line to the 25 yard line, making it a 42 yard field goal,basically... it is not to pass... two:moving football to twenty yard line during a preseason game,in 2014... what fun??? the committee wants to decrease the 99.6% success rate from last season...

a day at Lambeau Field...

there is a very light dusting of snow, about three inches,on the "Frozen Tundra"inside the bowl of Lambeau Field, and it is cloudy, but honestly it is quite beautiful...

24 Medal of Honor soldiers...

i want to mention the fact that twenty four American soldiers, are being given the Medal of Honor for overlooked, and forgotten acts of bravery, and heroism,in WWII,the Korean War,and the Vietnam War,by President Obama,today... whatever your view of the U.S. Military, these gallant soldiers deserve   respect, and a deep hat tip by me,because they,in some cases, gave their own lives in combat... they show the highest honor of selflessness,in their actions...

Packers' news...

running back James Starks has re-signed with the Packers...

Monday, March 17, 2014

NFL news...

good luck,James!!!!!! former Packers' wide receiver James Jones signed a three year/$11.3 million dollar contract with the Oakland Raiders...

Sunday, March 16, 2014

a day at Lambeau Field...

the "Frozen Tundra" is basically a brown piece of dirt, with a outline,of the last home game's markings on the pitch, but it is very, very beautiful...  they should reseed it in a few weeks... there is still a touch of snow on the pitch, and the practice field, across from the stadium, has a few feet of snow on it... what a beautiful sight...

Packers' news...

a very interesting free agent signing by Packers' general manager Ted Thompson... Packers signed former Bears' defensive end Julius Peppers to a three year/$30 million contract... the pundits say that his pass rushing skills have declined, and he,as a member of the Packers' defense, will be part of a rotation of pass rushers in a 3-4 defensive scheme... basically, honestly,it is an one year look-see for Thompson to see what Peppers has left in the tank... in one way, quarterback Aaron Rodgers must be happy... he will not see Peppers chasing him on Sundays,at least, for this season...

Packers' news,and commentary...

the Packers have re-signed four of their own free agents(B.J. Raji, just today, one year/$4 million contract,Sam Shields, four years/$39 million,Mike Neal,a two year contract, and Andrew Quarless, contract terms not announced)... they have not signed another team's free agents, but they have shored up their own team first... as for Yahoo Sports' comments about the Packers disappearing in free agency, they really have no clue what goes on in free agency,so they can shut up,and be stupid... as for the Packers, why pay for one free agent, and ruin their entire team,by over-paying for him??? free agency is not over,so who really knows what is to happen???

a night at Lambeau Field...

it is a very cold night in Green Bay,and the main concourse lights are on and it looks honestly very cool...

Wednesday, March 12, 2014

comments...

the Packers have not done anything in free agency, but with roughly $29 million(under the salary cap)to spend, they should sign free agents, after the hubbub of the first couple of days... that is what i expect them to do,and then they will be active in free agency...

Tuesday, March 11, 2014

a night at Lambeau Field...

snow is covering about 60% of the "Frozen Tundra",inside the bowl of Lambeau Field, and some of the lights are on at Lambeau Field,so actually it is quite beautiful ,tonight... just dreaming,folks...

Packers' news...

any Packers' free agent signing will be noted, later today...

Detroit Lions' team owner William Clay Ford,Sr. has died,of pneumonia... condolences to his family, and to the Lions' organization... reports say that he was very passionate to bring a NFL Championship to the city of Detroit, and he was the last grandson of Ford Motor Company's Henry Ford...

commentary...

simply said,i really do not like this time of year in the NFL,because it is basically "dead time" between the scouting combine, and the draft of college players, and free agency does start this week, but normally the Packers do not do anything in free agency... i have a hunch that it may change, but i really get tired of the pundits talking about who may go in free agency(over and over),or in the draft, almost to the point that you may want to vomit, or you may want to throw the remote at the television,or watch stupid cable news,or watch a movie that you have seen fifteen times, and that makes you vomit... BORING!!!!!!!!!! i miss football badly...

NFL news,and comments...

B.J. Raji is considering an one year "prove it" contract, with the Packers, among other options, but honestly,Raji did not have a good year on the field,so he may want to prove his worth to the NFL,and to the Packers...

NFL news...

Brandon Browner,of the Seattle Seahawks, has been conditionally reinstated(from his year long suspension from PED's use)... he will serve a four game suspension(the first four games,of the 2013-2014 NFL season)and will become a free agent, this off-season... the Seahawks have said that he will not play for them, when he was suspended for the year,by the NFL...

Tuesday, March 4, 2014

NFL news...

San Francisco 49ers' quarterback Colin Kaepernick wants a contract extension that pays him more than the $18.2 million/per year that the Chicago Bears paid quarterback Jay Cutler,in January... he has one year left on his rookie contract that pays him $973,766/per year... unless the 49ers balk at his request,he should play out his rookie contract, and become a free agent, next season,in 2015,which the 49ers would deeply regret, period,so he will get his extension,soon...

Packers' trivia...

can you name the only Heisman Trophy winner,on a losing college team??? in 1956,Paul Hornung won the Heisman Trophy,on a University of Notre Dame team that was, believe it,or not,2-9,that year... in 1960,he scored 176 points in a twelve game season... that mark lasted, until 2006,when LaDainian Tomlinson,of the San Diego Chargers, scored 186 points in a sixteen game season... he scored 33 points in a game, against the Baltimore Colts,on October 8,1961*,when he also scored 146 points,in 1961... *still a NFL record...

104 car pileup on I-25,in Denver...

this is to a family of a fatality in Denver, after a 104 car pileup closed I-25 for five hours,today... 20 people were transported to a hospital... may you find peace, and comfort,in your grief... my opinion:Denver is a beautiful city, and i love it,and in the past,i have spent many a day in the Mile High city...

Packers' news...

Packers' cornerback Sam Shields will test the free agent market... good news:Packers do have depth at cornerback... bad news:he is coming off his best season, and is 26 years old... my opinion:with a plethora of quality corners in free agency,Shields could still land back in Green Bay,and i guess he wants to see what the market may be for cornerbacks...
