clearing the air (my opinion of Brett Favre)....

it is time that i clear the air about my opinion of Brett Favre... his sixteen years,in Green Bay,will always be foremost in my memory, but folks, let us talk about the 800 pound gorilla in the room... what, honestly, there were three major things that really pissed me off about Brett:1)his uncalled, and nasty comments, about the Packers' fans, when he signed with the Minnesota Vikings, when he said that "true fans" would understand why he signed with the Vikings... there are no more passionate, and rabid fans, and shareholders/owners than the fans in Green Bay,2)his multiple retirements,so much that people were talking about the "Favre Watch",even the week after that year's Super Bowl, and number three was his treatment of the fans in New York/New Jersey, when he said that he was glad to be in New York, but by the end of that season,he was sullen, and acted like he just did not want to be there... in fact, some of his teammates in New York were complaining about him starting, when he was injured(the Jets went 1-4,when he got injured,at end of that miserable season,in New York)... two things made me smile, when he played for the Vikings:he had a magical season, his first season,in Minnesota, but honestly, the interception that he threw to the New Orleans Saints,in the NFC Championship game, when all he had to limp five yards for a Vikings' game-winning field goal(he did have a bad ankle),but honestly,he did have,at least ten yards with no one around him, when he threw that interception... basically,i smiled when remembering his last pass for the Packers,in the 2007 NFC Championship game(an interception that led to an overtime winning field goal, for the Giants)... at that time.i said silently,"Karma bites, right,Brett???",and smiled broadly... number two was getting beat by the Packers at Lambeau Field,in a thriller(Desmond Bishop ran a interception back, for insurance, for six points,in the Packers' win),and then the Packers put a 31-3 stomping,in the Metrodome, when Aaron Rodgers threw four touchdowns, and the fact that the Vikings' offensive coordinator(Darren Bevell)and Favre got into a very heated shouting match,on national television... in fact, the game was so bad that you could hear audibly on television chants of "GO PACK GO",in the fourth quarter... i smiled then,too... you may believe that i do not like Favre... very untrue, but when he signed with the Vikings, his uncalled, and nasty comments(badmouthing the Packers' fans) made me very, very mad,and if you can tell i have not forgotten, but it is time to forgive him(honestly, now,i can understand the comments, but back then,i wanted to "bury" him into the Frozen Tundra, like any other opponent)... note:the one other thing that made me smile was the first reception that he got from the "true fans",in Green Bay... the fans booed lustily so much so that the announcers even noticed it... basically, they booed him out of Lambeau Field, that night... now,it is time to celebrate his sixteen years in Green Bay,so i really expect the fans, and shareholders/owners to give him a standing ovation... i guarantee that i will have tears in my eyes....
