game score,and commentary...

Packers 28,Saints 27... the Packers scored four touchdowns in five attempts,in the red zone, but the fifth attempt was an adventure, because Packers' quarterback Aaron Rodgers was replaced by Graham Harrell, who tripped over linemen's feet, and while handing over the football to running back Cedric Benson,he fumbled the football over to the Saints,at the New Orleans Saints' eight yard line... Rodgers had been poked in the eye,by Saints' defensive back Malcolm Jenkins(facemask-personal foul),when Packers were up,21-17,and with the football on the Saints' two yard line... one drive, and an eighty yard bomb, the Saints had a 24-21 lead, early in fourth quarter, and the referees missed two calls, both against Green Bay(one incomplete pass that was challenged,by the Packers, and upheld-the football was trapped,by the Saints, and before you say sour grapes-there was a replay showing the football hitting the ground),but the referees just missed it... that missed call, cost the Packers their last challenge, and a timeout, late in the third period, and then the Packers forced a turnover, but the referees called football down, before football came out,and it was obvious that the call would have been reversed,if the Packers had a legal challenge, but they did not have one,on the Saints' final drive,so the Saints shot themselves in the proverbial foot, when they missed a 47-48 yard field goal, after making one,but a holding call negated it,and then they missed one to give Packers the football to run out the clock... both team fought like champions, but the Packers came out with the win, because the Saints missed a field goal, and shot themselves,in the foot, with one more mistake than the Packers, and like people say, winning by one hundred points,or even one point,is still winning... simply said, the Packers received a good break, after a bad break Monday night, and the Saints keep losing in tough ways...

beatdown number three of the week...

New England Patriots 52,Buffalo Bills 28... Patriots score 45 points in last twenty-five minutes,to decimate a 21-7 Bills' lead... Bills melted down in a volcanic way...

upset of the week...

St. Louis Rams 19,Seattle Seahawks 13... Karma bites for Seattle...

game score...

Green Bay Packers 28,New Orleans Saints 27... Packers 2-2,Saints 0-4... commentary later tonight...

beatdowns of the week...

San Francisco 49ers 34,New York Jets 0... Houston Texans 38,Tennessee Titans 14...

commentary...

simply said, this will be the toughest game for the Green Bay Packers to win, because both teams have been 1-5,so far this season, and the New Orleans Saints are pissed off and hungry... both offenses have struggled, not so much in scoring points, but being consistent in sustaining long drives, keeping their opponent's offenses off the field, and in the case of the Saints' defense, keeping them on the field, having the 32nd ranked rush defense, which causes them to be worn down,at end of game... now for the Packers, their offense is ranked 25th in the NFL(20th,in pass offense),and their offensive line has been offensive,in not keeping Aaron Rodgers upright, but to criticize Aaron,he has kept football in his hand too long,at times, especially last week, against Seattle Seahawks, giving up eight sacks,in first half... the "best" receiving corps have dropped too many passes, and may have read their own press clippings, over the offseason.... it is time to pick up the pace, and stop dropping passes, and having Rodgers throw the football with more confidence, and forgetting the mistakes... even though last week's game ended with a bitter taste,in their mouths, the Packers' offense, and defense showed the championship pedigree,in simply dominating the Seahawks,in the second half... they can gripe about the bad calls against the Packers, and the really bad defensive play of the Saints, over the last three weeks,it will be time to show up,people, and play their best, and even though the Saints are playing the Packers, for the second time in two years in September,at Lambeau Field, the Packers have won 14 of the last 15 home games... buckle up boys, you are in for war!!!!!!!

correction...

i made a stupid mistake on last post:originally i put the New York Giants winning 2010,week fifteen, over the Philadelphia Eagles,38-31,but when i checked it,it was just the opposite,so i corrected it,but i left it as the "the New York Eagles",instead of the Giants,so i did quickly corrected the mistake,on original post.......

commentary...

like i said, earlier, tomorrow's Saints-Packers game is important, for the Packers, because if the Packers lose tomorrow, they will be 1-3,in NFC playoff seeding, which is very bad,if they do not win the NFC North, because the toughness of their early schedule will come back to bite them, because of tiebreakers... remember one year that the New England Patriots went 11-5,and did not make the playoffs, because of tiebreakers, and in 2010,the Packers got in on strength of schedule, because Philadelphia Eagles scored 28 points,in last eight minutes,in a 38-31 win, over the New York Giants, with a punt return touchdown to end the game(week fifteen),and then Detroit beat Tampa Bay,in Tampa,in overtime,23-20,to break a record road losing streak, the same day... without those two games, the Packers do not make the playoffs, and later win Super Bowl XLV,that same year... so tomorrow's game,at Lambeau Field,is critical for the Packers...

"bounty" program update...

Cleveland Browns' linebacker Scott Fujita met today with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell over his involvement in the Saints' "bounty" scandal... he still denies that the Saints had a "bounty" program, from 2009-2011,but does say that it was a pay for performance program,instead... how stupid do you think we are,as fans, when former suspended Saints' defensive coordinator Gregg Williams gave an affidavit saying exactly that, and tell me why was suspended Saints' head coach Sean Payton, and Saints' general manager Mickey Loomis suspended for a year, and eight games, respectively, along with the Saints being fined, and that the Saints lost draft picks, over the next couple of years??? tell me,Scott, what was it??? you can deny it all you want, but there is evidence that they did have a "bounty" program... the NFL said that Goodell can rule on all four players involved, but will take some time to do it...

good luck,Nick...

2010 All-Pro Nick Collins will probably retire from professional football, because of spinal stenosis(narrowing of the spinal column)suffered in second game of the 2010-2011 NFL season, when he played for the Green Bay Packers... no surprise, but his agent,Alan Herman, finally confirmed it to everybody...

one step closer...

as noted earlier on blog, the vote on approval of a 72,000 seat stadium was taken today,by the Los Angeles City Council... it was unanimous(12-0),in favor of that proposal...

correction...

the hero in Memphis was Seth Goldstein, not Greenstein... no one's perfect... sorry,folks... i will correct post...

hero in Memphis...

17 year old Seth Goldstein was running in a high school cross country race,in Memphis, when he noticed a fellow runner drop to the ground... the unnamed runner had a seizure, bit his tongue, and being a lifeguard,he noticed the runner had his lips turn blue,so he stopped, gave aid,and told people to call 911,and to get ice, then he turned the runner on his side,to keep him from asphyxiation... when the EMT's got there to help the runner,he then finished the race...

odd trivia,about Packers-Saints...

going into the fourth week of NFL games, guess what team has the third ranked defense, the 25th ranked offense(20th in pass offense),and have given up sixteen sacks,on offense? if you would say the Green Bay Packers, you would be right... again they scored only twelve points,on offense last week, none in first half, and given up eight sacks... OOPS!!!! the New Orleans Saints have the 32nd ranked run defense, and on offense, have been a step slow, and both teams have defects and,so far, have sucked BIG rock,period...

NFL historical trivia...

because of a scheduling quirk, tonight's Thursday Night Football game,is the fourth game in eighteen days, for the Baltimore Ravens... it is the first time, since 1939,that a NFL team has played four games,in that span of time... the last time that it has happened:the 1939 Brooklyn Dodgers played that many games,in that span of time... if you believe that it is a misprint, you are mistaken:the NFL had a team in Brooklyn named the Dodgers,in 1939...

details on NFL/NFLRA deal...

NFL/NFLRA deal is for eight years... a compromise was reached when the referees kept their NFL pension, for five years, and grandfathering into a 401K,and the NFL gets a developmental system for getting younger refs, into the system... the developmental system will have the younger referees work during the week, but not on Sunday, and other game days...

commentary...

this is the last thing that i will say about Monday night:if the Packers had played better in first half, the game would not have come down to the last play... honestly, after reading NFL rulebook, and then seeing the play only once more,i actually calmed down... i have seen the play at least 50 times, and what made me really mad,(after a couple hours)was the celebration of the Seattle Seahawks' head coach,Pete Carroll, who acted like the Seahawks won the Super Bowl, and thought that it was "cool",that the Seahawks "won" the game, rubbing it into, and gloating,in the face of the Packers... what a maroon!!!!!!!!!

Breaking news...

NFL/NFLRA lockout is finally over;paperwork, and ratification to come...

progress on talks...

there is progress on the talks on the NFL Referees Association/NFL lockout... there is another report that Ed Hochuli has been readying the referees,to be ready within days of a settlement of the issues of the lockout... GO ED!!!!!!!

trivia...

the Packers have averaged 31.9 points per game,at home, since 2009,best in the NFL,over that span... over the last 22 games,at home,in the regular season, the Packers are tied with the Baltimore Ravens, with a record,of 20-2... the Saints and Packers have identical records,of 41-16(.719),since 2009... the Packers hold an all-time record of 15-7,including a 9-2 record,at Lambeau Field, against the Saints....

trivia...

even with Monday's night loss, the Packers are 18-3(.857),in the regular season, the best record in the NFL,in that span...

prayers for Ryan...

Wildomar Cornerstone Christian High quarterback Ryan McGregor sustained a brain injury during a game between his team, and Avalon High, last weekend... he is in stable, and critical condition,at UCLA Trauma Center, but he has movement in his hands, and is responding to his girlfriend, and family... prayers for him coming his way!!!!!!

commentary...

my personal opinion about Seattle Seahawks' head coach Pete Carroll hit an all-time low last night... he was a snake, when he slithered out of USC(University of Southern California),right before the NCAA sanctions, associated with Reggie Bush hit, saying that he did not know about what Bush did, that cost the Trojans plenty, including a National Championship... what a crock!!!!!! the way that he celebrated the win, over the Green Bay Packers, last night, and then gloated about it makes me want to vomit... i will remember what happened, and the next time the Seahawks play the Packers, even if it is three,or four years down the road, the Packers will show you who the better team is,because you,Pete, are not a better coach than Packers' head coach Mike McCarthy, and to put it another way,you are no way a superior coach... NO WAY!!!!!!!!! do u think that i do not like Pete Carroll???

NFL rulebook,and commentary...

RULE EIGHT,ARTICLE THREE,SECTION FIVE,READS IN PART,AS FOLLOWS:if a pass is caught simultaneously,by two eligible opponents, and both players retain it,the ball belongs to the passers... it is not a simultaneous catch,if a player gains control first, and an opponent subsequently gains control... major problem is that M.D. Jennings had ball in the air for an interception, and when the referees got over to the pile of players,Golden Tate had both hands on football, along with Jennings, with Jennings on top of Tate... it should have reviewed, and reversed, but it was not reversed,so the Packers lost game... the key words for the Packers' fans were,"in the air",because had Jennings made a football move(process of making the catch, going to ground with control of football),instead of wrestling Tate for the football, the second part of the rule would have applied, and the interception would have counted...

comments...

this is the turning point of this season for the Packers:champions in character respond,if they do not respond like they should, and they should, then the team will be fine...
this is a first person response:as a proud Green Bay Packers' shareholder,i will take the high road, and support the Packers,in moving on,but will always remember!!!!!!!!

commentary...

the Packers started off the game being embarrassed by the Seahawks' defense,in giving up eight sacks(most of them, coverage sacks),in first half, and were only down,7-0,at half, and dominated the second half, offensively, and defensively... the Packers' defense played very, very well, without question, and in the second half kept the Seahawks,at bay... the Packers could have played better,no question, but they played like a champion, and deserved better,period... the ending of this game will live in infamy, and will be remembered for a long time... do not doubt me... this game is the blackest eye for the NFL,in a weekend of major referees' goofs, and this call reminds me of the no touchdown call,in the Chicago Bears-Detroit Lions game that opened up the 2009-2010 NFL season, the referees disallowed a Calvin Johnson apparent touchdown,as he spun ball on ground, after catching the football... that call changed the way players catch the football(finishing the process of catching the ball,in going to ground, with control of football)... you may believe that this game may not be remembered(in infamy),but it will, and unfortunately this game will affect playoff seeding, this season... the Packers may say the right things, but they will remember the way that the Seahawks played, which was,"if you could get away with a cheap shot, you do",and the way that coach Pete Carroll celebrated at the end of the game... i do not respect the way that the Seahawks play,at all,and i will say that they played dirty... if the Packers and Seahawks meet in the playoffs, the Packers will show them who the better team is,and that would be poetic justice, because they will remember!!!!!!

Monday, September 24, 2012

comment...

i will have a commentary on the Packers,tomorrow... good night...

commentary...

Seahawks 14,Packers 12... i will accept it,but i will never like this... two bad calls by the replacement referees cost the Packers the win.... a phantom 37 yard pass interference call midway through the final period, when Sam Shields was inside the receiver, like his own pockets and Shields knocked the ball away, and a 4th down Hail Mary was caught for an interception,by M.D. Jennings in end zone, but referees called a catch by Golden Tate, because he had one arm on it,when referees showed up,and the review agreed with the replacement referees, because they gave the head referee final say... simply said,NFL,get back the real referees,now... what a crock!!!!!!

injury update...

New York Jets' cornerback Darrelle Revis(torn anterior cruciate ligament),out for season....

comments...

UGLY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Packers very fortunate to be only down,7-0,at half... Packers' offensive line(what line???)gave up eight(no misprint)sacks of Aaron Rodgers,in first half... Packers' defense, and punter Tim Masthay, are so far, have been stellar... everybody else has sucked....

NFL news...

NFL has asked U.S. Second District(of Louisiana) Judge Helen G. Berrigan to grant a stay of discovery,in the defamation suit, filed by New Orleans Saints(on physically unable to perform list,at least, until after game six-knee injury)linebacker,Jonathan Vilma... Vilma's attorney,Peter Ginsberg is trying to prove that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell prejudged Vilma in his discipline of Vilma,in the Saints' "bounty" scandal... Ginsberg has subpoenaed some of the NFL investigators, involved in the case...

Packers' news...

Green Bay Packers at Seattle Seahawks,tonight...

inspiration of the day...

as a tribute to his late brother,Tevin Jones,Baltimore Ravens' Torrey Smith caught six passes, for 127 yards, and two touchdown catches,in a 31-30 victory, over the New England Patriots...

comments...

on back to back plays,Denver Broncos' defenders piledrove Houston Texans' quarterback Matt Schaub into the turf, and received two personal fouls for roughing the passer... i like defense, but the late hits to Schaub were absolutely brutal, and both hits will be looked at,by the NFL,for fines, and maybe supplemental discipline(doubtful,in my opinion),the last hit was a double smack by two players that popped his helmet off his head, and cut open his left ear... you must protect the quarterback,PERIOD...

wild game in Nashville...

Tennessee Titans 44,Detroit Lions 41,overtime... in wildest game this year, the Detroit Lions scored fourteen points in last minute, including a Hail Mary,to force overtime, and forego a chip field goal,on a fourth and one,to extend overtime, and lose to the Titans...

Saints 0-3...

Kansas City Chiefs 27,New Orleans Saints 24,overtime... up 24-6 in third period,Saints melt down, and lose...

upset of the week...

Minnesota Vikings 24,San Francisco 49ers 13...

trivia...

the last time the Packers played every team in the NFC West was in 2009...

beatdown of the week...

New York Giants 36,Carolina Panthers 7... Cam Newton threw three interceptions, and the Panthers turned over the football five times,as Eli Manning and the Giants' offense sliced and diced the Panthers' defense,as Cam Newton got pounded on all day,by the Giants' swarming defense, sacked twice, and then sulked, and did not even finish the fourth quarter... it was very, very ugly,period...

life is too short...

Baltimore Ravens' wide receiver Torrey Smith's younger brother Tevin Jones, died in a motorcycle accident, earlier today... condolences to him,and his family...

blog statement...

i have to apologize because i seem to be a step slow,in blogging this week, because i have needed sleep most of this week, and i have changed my body clock,in waking up early every morning...

commentary...

the Packers' game plan for this Monday will be to stop Seattle Seahawks' running back Marshawn Lynch... Lynch is one of the best running backs,in the NFL,right behind Matt Forte,of the Chicago Bears, and Adrian Peterson,of the Minnesota Vikings,period... they call him "the Beast",and in the 2010 playoffs,he single handedly destroyed the New Orleans Saints, with a incredible touchdown run,i believe,of 68 yards, that some pundits call,to this day,the best touchdown run in NFL playoff history... i believe that he ran over,or ran through, seven,or eight Saints' players,on way to the end zone,to salt the game away for a Seahawks' win... if he gets 150+ yards on the ground,it will be a literal shootout,in the Emerald City... the other main factor will be the crowd, which is literally called the 12th man,in possibly the loudest outdoor stadium, next to Arrowhead Stadium,in Kansas City... the only factor that Seattle will have to deal with is their rookie quarterback,Russell Wilson, out of Wisconsin, and if Wilson has a bad night passing the ball, and if the Packers' receiving corps can deal with the tall, talented, but very young Seahawks' defensive backfield it will be a dogfight,in Seattle... expect it!!! the Seahawks will try to run,eat the clock, and limit Aaron Rodgers' chances,to beat the Packers... the Packers have to limit damage on second, and third down,by limiting Lynch's carries, and yards, and come out blazing,on offense, force Wilson, not Lynch,to beat the Packers, and try to outscore the potent Packers' offense... p.s. if you believe that Aaron Rodgers, and the Packers offense will not explode,it is only when will it go off,and decimate some team, and Rodgers,McCarthy, and company, are,i admit,a step slow, right now,but with eleven days off, between games,do expect the Packers to be ready to fire on all cylinders... Seattle is not a creampuff of an opponent,by any means, especially on defense... expect a shootout,period...

Packers' news...

now for the complete post:Packers' tight end Jermichael Finley basically threw his agent under the bus, when his agent criticized Packers' quarterback Aaron Rodgers,by tweeting that Rodgers was,"a great QB not a great leader"... he(Finley),when asked how much did he echo the feelings expressed by his agent,Finley said,"i'd say zero percent of it"... he said,of Rodgers,"he is the leader of the team... i respect him as a player... outside of football,i am a fan of Rodgers... we are all good..." his sorry(my opinion)agent later apologized on ESPN Radio... what a maroon!!!!!!!

sorry,folks...

sorry folks,i had to delete an incomplete post...

NFL news...

ONLY ONE POST,SORRY:NFL,and NFL Referees Association(NFLRA) have met for last two days, shortly after the televised debacle, between the Denver Broncos, and the Atlanta Falcons(my opinion)... no deal yet...

Thursday, September 20, 2012

blog statement...

tomorrow i am taking day off, from this blog... i will use some old-time trivia, early right after midnight...

commentary...

there is trouble in New Orleans, not because the Saints are 0-2,but they will have beat the Atlanta Falcons twice, this season,to have a shot at winning the NFC South, because the Falcons are 2-0,currently... they own the 32nd ranked rush defense(seem similar,people)... Drew Brees is a very good quarterback, but the Saints have to stop someone,to give him a chance to try to win a game... they face the Kansas City Chiefs,a good running team, but honestly should win the game, this week, against the Chiefs... however, next week, the Saints come back to Lambeau Field,to face the Packers... if they go 1-3,going into week five, can they recover their swagger, and make the playoffs,in the NFC,or even win their division... they better start playing like they care, because if they do not, they are in very deep trouble... the Saints' defense is simply not the same,as last year... they are not pressing the issues,of holding teams down to a reasonable amount of points(75 points,in two games),having been out-scored,by 16 points, and been trying to overcome,at least a fourteen point deficit,in fourth quarter,in both games... they seem to be a step slow,in stopping the run, giving up a whopping 219 yards on the ground,to the Carolina Panthers... not even Drew Brees can help the liability, when the team gives up 219 yards,on the ground, including a forty yard run to Panthers' quarterback Cam Newton(in a division game,i may add),so New Orleans' coaching staff, you better get the Saints back on track,by tightening up your defense, and simply stop talking about the team being good, because the record that you have, right now,is not too good... you can complain that the defense is missing some personnel, due to the Saints' "bounty" scandal, which is true, but you have not done your job,in winning games,so far... i give your team a great deal of respect, because you are a very dangerous team to play, and i do not overlook any team that the Packers will play, and that is next week, but take care of your business, and that is what you need to do,before you dig a hole that you can not dig out of,period...

Packers' news...

punter Tim Masthay was NFC Special Teams player of the week, when he tossed a 27 yard touchdown pass,on a fake punt,to Tom Crabtree... it was the first touchdown pass thrown by a Green Bay punter, since November 19,1972,when Ron Widby tossed a 68 yard touchdown pass to Dave Davis... funny thing, now,Green Bay fans can remember something good from a "4th and 26"... Philadelphia Eagles beat the Packers,on January 11,2004,20-17,in overtime, when Philadelphia completed a 4th and 26 play,to force overtime(a field goal tied game,17-17)... Philadelphia called the play,"74 Double Go",a 25 yard slant pass to Freddie Mitchell, and the Packers' fans were heartbroken, when Packers' quarterback Brett Favre(who else?)threw an interception, and the Eagles ran it back 35 yards, for a chip field goal,in overtime to win game 20-17...

a letter to Peyton Manning...

dearest Peyton:you are a Hall of Fame caliber player, and will be in Canton, five years after you retire,guaranteed... you are one of nicest people off the field, but Peyton, you knew the questions about your arm strength would be there, after the loss to the Atlanta Falcons, and three interceptions on your team's first three possessions,in the first period... why be snarky,to the press, when they also have a job to do??? you will have a good season, and simply do your job, because being frustrated, and snarky is not like you... here is an answer that you may say to reporters:the offense needs time to gel,and i will be there,at the critical time,to put my imprint on the game...

RIP Steve Sabol,part two...

NFL news...

Scott Fujita's meeting with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, about his involvement with the New Orleans Saints' "bounty" scandal, has been postponed, due to the fact that the NFL wants a face to face meeting... when is this circus going to end???

RIP Steve Sabol...

NFL Films president Steve Sabol has died at 69...

NFL news...

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell meets today, with the other three players involved,in the New Orleans Saints' "bounty" scandal(Scott Fujita,Will Smith, and Anthony Hargrove),to discuss their overturned suspensions, imposed by Goodell, earlier,in the off-season... Fujita plays for the Cleveland Browns,Will Smith plays for the Saints, and Hargrove is looking for a new team, after being released by the Green Bay Packers...

Monday, September 17, 2012

correction...

i corrected previous post by naming the suspended Saints' defensive coordinator,as Gregg Williams... no one's perfect...

NFL news...

Jonathan Vilma met for three hours, with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, and had a "very frank" meeting with him... however, the NFL Commissioner showed Vilma a signed affidavit, from suspended New Orleans Saints'(2009-2011) defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, saying that Vilma did,in fact, offer a $10,000 "bounty",on Vikings' quarterback Brett Favre, during the 2009 NFC Championship game, between the Minnesota Vikings, and the Saints,in which Favre had ankle surgery, after that season... Vilma's attorney.Peter Ginsberg, says that Vilma disputes the affidavit, and "does not know what Williams was thinking about",when he signed the affidavit...

commentary...

pundits are missing the big picture in New Orleans, with the Saints, and their 0-2 start(first time since 2007)... Drew Brees is a very good quarterback, and the Saints' offense is high-powered,but in both losses, the Saints have been down,by,at least,14 points, midway, into the fourth quarter... the vaunted Saints' defense has simply sucked, having the dreaded term of,"great offense, dreadful defense" tag... they have given up too many points early, and Brees even has not played well, beginning both games, but the defense has absolutely stunk, which no pundit saw coming, but i really did see coming, because even though, last season, the Saints scored a ton(laughing)of points, but there were weak spots in their defense, finally exposed,by a "supposedly" weak San Francisco 49ers' offense in their divisional playoff game... it was a shootout of a game, because the Saints' defense could not stop the 49ers,on third down,or late in game... so,New Orleans, the Super Bowl win was in 2009,but the defense for the Saints has simply eroded ever since then, and you talk about Sean Payton like he is the best head coach in the NFL(and he may be),but the defensive coaches are not even close to being the best in the NFL,and the team has put their eggs,in one offensive basket, and basically forgotten about team defense,in last three years,so the Saints have not gotten too close,to the Super Bowl since...

beatdown of the week...

Miami Dolphins 35,Oakland Raiders 13... after being down,10-7,at half,the Dolphins decimate the Raiders,28-3,in the second half... Reggie Bush ran for 172 yards,including two touchdown runs,of 23 yards,and 65 yards,in 3rd quarter,to salt away the rout,for the Dolphins...

upsets of the week...

Carolina Panthers 35,New Orleans Saints 27...
Arizona Cardinals 20,New England Patriots 18...

commentary...

at this time of the morning,i have to admit there is nothing to talk about the NFL... however,it is getting ready to pop, later on in the day, with some key games, like Detroit vs San Francisco,"the handshake that shook the NFL" game part two??? is Jim Harbaugh, and Jim Schwartz going to duke it out this time(laughing)???... will be a very good game,if both teams play their best... i had to dig both of them, because it was a real sight to see last year... had to make you laugh, people, because at this time of night,it is too early not to laugh... so,have fun....

commentary...

the New York Giants' veterans are blasting their own rookies, their "lack of urgency",their practice habits, and Justin Tuck(him of foot in mouth syndrome)does not like that...... Justin,it is only the second week of the season... i understand your opinion, but shut up,play football, and show them some leadership that way... i know that it hurt to lose to the Dallas Cowboys,at home, but just play football, and stop griping... your team played like they were,"Super Bowl hung over",against Dallas, and you personally did very little... you have talked all off-season about being the best team in the NFL... last year was last year... it is time to prove it... stop talking, and simply take care of your own business... simple fact:if you lose Sunday, being 0-2,only 12%,of those teams, have made the playoffs that season... so Justin, show leadership, and prepare to take care of business, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, this Sunday... just show leadership, and stop talking about how good you are,and prove it!!!!!!

commentary...

now everybody in Packer Nation is crowing about the defensive demolition of the Chicago Bears, and elevating the Packers back near the top of the NFL... i am not that way, just yet... they had a very good game plan, but let me go back to last week:the Bears beat Indianapolis rather handily, true, but the game started bad for the Bears:a sack on the first possession, and then a turnover turned into a touchdown,on the second possession, for a Colts' 7-0 lead, but the Colts could not handle good fortune, and then lost big to the Bears... the Packers, remember, had a great record last season(15-1),and yet sucked on defense most of the year... reasons for that are obvious, and talked about, over and over,so will not be repeated here... i may be happy, but i am cautious in my happiness, because it is only one game, and the Packers may be a very good team, but the record is not that important to this season's team... they just want redemption for last season's bitter end,and a good, and deep playoff run... they will not say that, but the Packers do have a great deal to prove... everyone has talked about the great offensive year, last season, and the numbers were spectacular, but last season was last season, and the pundits also talked about the 32nd ranked defense... let me go back to 1976:the Pittsburgh Steelers had perhaps the best defensive year, ever, shutting out five opponents, and giving up only 28 points,in last nine games(the Steelers were 1-4,in first five games, that year),but because of injuries to Franco Harris, and Rocky Bleier, they lost 24-7,to the Oakland Raiders,in the NFL playoffs, that season... so that is history, and the Packers know that,too... the 49ers' game revealed that the Packers have work to do,on defense, and the Bears' game does not change that, because the Bears' offensive line is a sieve, like swiss cheese, and Cutler being Cutler, made the Bears' game quite easy, for the Packers' defense feasted on an offense that scored big last week, but the Packers brought the Bears back to earth, but Packers' quarterback Aaron Rodgers has not had the start that everybody expected, and the Packers' offense has sputtered big time(scoring only sixteen points,of the twenty three points scored last week)... the Packers are 1-1,so far this season, still a work in progress, and the Packers' brain trust knows that,too.. one game at a time:let the team get back to reality, and get back to work,Aaron(Rodgers),Clay(Matthews),Charles(Woodson),and Mike(McCarthy)... celebrating one win is fine, people, but only it is one win,and let the team have a goal:having a shot at another Lombardi Trophy, this season, and people, that is most important...

strange,true,and funny...

a man who works at the Pierce County(Washington State) Jail got convicted of attempted bigamy, when his first wife saw a picture of him on Facebook, wearing fancy clothes, and in front of a wedding cake... he says that he trusted a neighbor to file divorce papers, before marrying the second woman, but the neighbor did not file the papers... his wife seems to forgive him, when she testified for him in the case, and he told the judge that he did not mean to commit a crime... he got a year's probation, and the Sheriff may give him his job back(he is on unpaid leave)... what a maroon!!!!!!!

a letter to Jay Cutler...

dearest Jay:grow up,Jay!!!!!! you are 2-8,against the Packers(including playoffs),and you have a good team, but you tend to sulk, and lose your focus, even against other teams... you even lost your cool,in Denver, when things did not go your way... you are a very good quarterback, but you have a big mouth(telling Packers' defensive backs:good luck,in newspaper,or in the media),and they shut down your top receivers... the Packers and Bears are very good teams, but the main difference between Aaron Rodgers, and you,is not talent, but the fact that when things go bad for him,and the team,he does not explode on the field too often(he may outside the sight of the media, but i doubt that),and he does not trash talk... in fact, the whole team does not trash talk too often... no bulletin board material, like the Bears did, last week, and in the preseason, against the Packers... the Packers' defense did not say too much, took too much trash(in Rodgers' words),and just showed up,and did their job... Rodgers got sacked five times,Jay,but did not say too much(at least in public),and only once did show emotion(on his only interception),and talked to one of his receivers, but did it quietly,or quickly(and did not show up his team)... Rodgers got back up off the ground, and realized that it was the team, not him,and chipped in,and showed class... you,Jay,showed your loss of cool, and you sulked, blaming everyone, but yourself... your offensive line did you no favors, but you showed no class,in blasting everybody, but yourself, saying that "you care...",and "this is not a hobby for me"... you even challenged the Packers' defense to "press" your receivers, with man to man defense(they went to a hybrid,of man to man,and zone defense)... way to go,Jay,asking the opposing defense to press your team, and badmouthing the Packers' defense, during the four days, before the game, and then they shut your receivers down... ultimate bulletin board material, and you did get pounded on all night, and you sulked, when nothing went right... nice going... just grow up,Jay...

correction...

MY BAD!!!!!!!!! Packers sacked Jay Cutler seven times...

game score,and commentary...

Green Bay Packers 23,Chicago Bears 10... DEFENSE.... six sacks by Packers, and four interceptions(Tramon Williams(2),Charles Woodson, and Jerron McMillian).... Clay Matthews had 3 1/2 sacks... the Packers' offense was spotty, still, but when the defense swarmed Bears' quarterback Jay Cutler, and blanketed their best receivers;it was only a matter of time that Bears made mistakes with Cutler throwing the ball like rainbows into coverages that allowed very little... to give you a hint on how bad the Bears were in the first half, they had a total of 47 yards offensively... Aaron Rodgers and the Packers' offense still seemed to be a half step slow,in their rhythm, but with the Bears doing very little offensively(only three points in first 50 minutes),and they scored their only touchdown, after a Rodgers interception(on a 4th and 7,deep in Packers' territory),but the Packers' defense did not give up much, overall, and were stingy throughout the game...

commentary...

people may believe they may have a blueprint on how to beat the Packers:stop the run,be physical, and put pressure on quarterback Aaron Rodgers... as for the first part,of that equation(please listen):the Packers simply stopped trying to run,and in that case, beat themselves... the other parts of that equation:simply the the San Francisco 49ers beat the Packers, but honestly, when you can not convert,on third, and fourth down, that helps your opponent, psychologically, and gives them confidence... that was the case with the Packers for three plus quarters, and by the time that the offense got started,it was game over... it does not hurt to have a 63 yard field goal bounce over the crossbar at the end of the first half,if you were the 49ers,just like the Giants executed a "Hail Mary" at the end of the divisional game,in last year's playoffs... in the case of the Giants' game,it was poor execution, and in the case of the 49ers' game,it was simply bad luck, and a bad bounce(for the Packers),and a good bounce(for the 49ers)... the one major silver lining in the game for the Packers was the defensive line, who collected four sacks,on Alex Smith(Clay Matthews had 2 1/2 sacks,himself)... the Packers are not that bad,and yet the 49ers are that good... however, remember one thing, people, the Giants lost to the Packers,38-35,in New York, last season, and still used the game film, and good luck,to thump the Packers,37-20,in the divisional playoff game... mark my words:if the Packers do play the 49ers,let us say in San Francisco,in the playoffs, the tutorial of this game will come in handy, and it is very difficult to beat a team, let alone a good team twice,in a season,if the two teams do play again, and the Packers are not that bad... do not let your overconfidence, and the memory of this game make you believe that your team is superior... at this time, that may be true, but in the playoffs, this game will be a distant memory,to most of the NFL,but to both teams it will be fresh in their minds, and yet:can the 49ers beat the Packers, again in the playoffs??? simply said, the 49ers will try to beat the Packers, again, and the Packers will make adjustments to the game plan, and will have a major chip on their shoulders,to simply prove a point... the other major factor in the rematch would be team injuries, and the play of both quarterbacks(Alex Smith, and Aaron Rodgers)... Smith played a very good game, and Rodgers was not too sharp in the game... do not think that Rodgers will have another bad game, against the 49ers... if he does, the 49ers will be the better team, this season...

NFL news...

the NFL will meet with all four players, involved in the Saints' "bounty" scandal...

update...

during WWE Raw last night,WWE Hall of Fame member Jerry "the King" Lawler had a heart attack,in Montreal... the doctors put a stent into his heart, and he is stable, and resting comfortably... Get well,Jerry, very, very soon!!!!!!!

NFL news...

the NFL sent a letter to the players involved in the Saints' "bounty" scandal,to submit additional evidence to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell,by the close of business,Tuesday... the Commissioner seems to want input from the players, before ruling on their punishment, which means whether,or not,the players will get suspended, for "conduct detrimental" issues, under Article 46,of the current collective bargaining agreement(CBA)...

commentary...

i have to give much credit to the San Francisco 49ers... they came to beat the Packers, and they did handily... the Packers never showed up until the fourth quarter,offensively... the Packers defensive front seven had a good game, sacking 49ers' quarterback Alex Smith four times, but could not stop the 49ers at critical times, and Smith showed guts, and grit... the 49ers' receivers, and running backs wore down the tired Packers' defense... i lay blame on the lack of Packers' offense,on a dysfunctional offensive line(too many penalties-holding,and false starts,on both sides of the football),and, even though,Packers' quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw for just over 300 years, and his numbers looked good,at times, the Packers looked pathetic... the offense never really got caught in top gear, and the tired Packers' defense allowed the winning 23 yard run,by Frank Gore,on an one play drive, after the critical interception, thrown by Rodgers(being down,23-15,at the time),and the coaching,by the Packers' staff, was sub-par,and they were begging for penalties, instead of making plays... Rodgers and the Packers' offense just looked out of sync, most of the day,and the 49ers' defensive backs disrupted the passing attack of the Packers,at critical times, and when Randall Cobb ran back a punt,75 yards, the Packers still could not catch fire,on offense... the replacement referees missed many penalties, including a block in the back by the Packers,on Cobb's punt return touchdown(they picked up the flag),and of the many games that they officiated yesterday, they did the worst job,in Green Bay,but honestly,i only wish that i could blame this stinkfest on the referees, because they were bad,but the Packers played like they were sleepwalking(expecting a big play, and not executing the play),and the 49ers took advantage, time after time... like i said earlier, the 49ers came to win the game, and the Packers did not show up,at all,and got beat handily....

game score,and commentary...

San Francisco 49ers 30,Green Bay Packers 22... no excuses... the Packers got out-played most of the game, and actually the Packers' defense(four sacks)really did not play badly(the defense for the Packers could not stop the 49ers,time after time(on first, and second down, when most of the damage was done,by the 49ers),until it was desperate time for the Packers,in the fourth quarter, but for three plus quarters, the Packers offense was dormant, and i have to give credit to the 49ers' defense;they made plays, keeping the Packers off balance,on offense, and defense, and ran the clock away, when needed... David Akers did connect on a NFL record tying 63 yard field goal,at the end of the first half, for the 49ers(it hit crossbar, and bounced over)... the Packers shot themselves in the proverbial foot,on critical downs and times, and the replacement referees did a very poor job,today... the 49ers played stout defense, but the referees missed a few calls, and both teams took advantage of that fact, and the game was very chippy... it was obvious that both teams did not like each other, and Packers were simply out-played,period,without a doubt...

inspiration of day...

Minnesota Vikings' running back Adrian Peterson 17 carries for 84 yards, with two touchdowns, coming off anterior cruciate ligament, and medial collateral ligament surgery,on left knee,on December 31st 2011,in a 26-23 overtime win, over the Jacksonville Jaguars...

beatdown of the week...

New York Jets 48,Buffalo Bills 28... Jets destroyed Buffalo, and intercept Bills' quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick three times, returning one for a touchdown, and go out to 41-7 lead, and then cruise on for a 48-28 win... Jets score franchise record 48 points, and looked like worldbeaters,at least this week...

upset of the week...

Washington Redskins 40,New Orleans Saints 32...

injury update...

Devon Walker of the Tulane University Green Wave broke his neck,on a helmet to helmet hit with a teammate, during a game against Tulsa,yesterday... only report is that he is in traction, with a lot of swelling in the area of his neck... prayers go out to him,and to his family...

things come full circle...

the first NFL game that i remember seeing on television was a local broadcast, from San Francisco, was the game between the Green Bay Packers, and San Francisco 49ers,on December 1st,1968,at Kesar Stadium... the 49ers won 27-20... ironically, the first game in my first full year as a Packers' shareholder will be the San Francisco 49ers playing the Packers,at Lambeau Field,tomorrow... is that just amazing???

weird bet...

in an ironic twist,Aaron Rodgers asked BOYZ II MEN to sing the national anthem at Lambeau Field,on Sunday, but the group added a stipulation to the offer... if the Packers lost to the 49ers,Sunday,Rodgers would have to wear a 49ers' jersey to a team meeting, next week... the group has said, through their representatives, that the bet is on...

commentary...

the decision to vacate,or overturn, the suspensions of four players involved in the Saints' "bounty" scandal is the interpretation of Article 14,which involves the system arbitrator, and Article 46,which involves the Commissioner, and what each person has to do with player discipline... the system arbitrator(Stephen Burbank)deals with matters to do with the teams' salary cap(in the case of this decision:the Saints, being the team),and the Commissioner deals with player discipline, with "conduct detrimental" issues... the three members of the appeals panel could not decide, who could honestly deal with the delicate issues, involved in this situation, and thus vacating the suspensions,so basically, they actually punted it back to the Commissioner to decide if,in his opinion,it has to do,with "conduct detrimental" issues, which is easy for to decide, and readjust the suspensions,if adjusting the suspensions,is even warranted,in the Commissioner's opinion... i believe the players can not go back to the panel,so if,and when the Commissioner decides that the suspensions are correct, and proper,in original form, they will be back at square one,in front of U.S. Second District Judge(of Louisiana) Helen G. Berrigan,so this circus is not over,at all... Jonathan Vilma, who tweeted,"victory is mine" may be happy now,but he may have to eat crow, next weekend, because this is going back to federal court, for an ultimate decision,Jonathan, because Commissioner Roger Goodell is not going to back down, and not,"do what is not in the best interest of the NFL",so ultimately you will lose, simply because you,and the players, are not bigger than the NFL,period...

Friday, September 7, 2012

clarification,of post...

the collective bargaining agreement(CBA) appeals panel decision to overturn the suspensions basically throws it back to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to reconsider his decision on the length of the suspensions of Jonathan Vilma,Will Smith,Scott Fujita and Anthony Hargrove... the NFL has said that the Commissioner will have an expedited decision, most likely before week two...

NFL news...

in according with the earlier ruling,on the Saints' "bounty" scandal,Scott Fujita also plans to play this weekend, for Cleveland, this weekend,it was reported,on NFL.com...

Breaking news...

a collective bargaining agreement(CBA)appeals panel overturns the Saints "bounty" suspensions of all four players, involved in the scandal... Jonathan Vilma,Will Smith,Scott Fujita, and when he has a NFL team,Anthony Hargrove are,at least, eligible to play this weekend... Smith has said that he will suit up for the Saints, this weekend... NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell can still suspend the players, but will not do so,until maybe, after week one of the 2012-2013 NFL season... U.S Second District Judge Helen G. Berrigan still has not ruled on the temporary restraining orders, filed by the players... the appeals panel ruled unanimously, among the three judge panel... the panel,i believe, was set up in the collective bargaining agreement, enacted in 2011

commentary...

I HATED ART MODELL!!! when he took the original Cleveland Browns franchise,to Baltimore,to become the Ravens,i was a big Browns' fan,and would have loved to be in the "Dawg Pound",to see the Browns play, and was quite upset, when the Ravens won the Super Bowl,in 2000,thinking the Browns got jobbed out of a championship, and hated Modell even more, but over the years,my opinion has definitely mellowed, and when i found out that Cleveland had built many stadiums, and museums,in downtown Cleveland, but at the time of the Browns' move, the city simply refused, without help from Modell,to build the Browns a new stadium, and at the time the Browns were on the verge of being bankrupt,as Modell said, and with a decaying stadium,i can understand the moving of the franchise... the stadium was known as,"the mistake by the Lake"(Lake Erie)...
what mellowed my opinion was the fact that the city of Cleveland did build that stadium, shortly after Modell left town, when the NFL gave Cleveland an expansion franchise... i guess the city's head honchos hated Modell, even though Modell did more for the city, and the NFL,than people can say,and did deserve getting a new stadium built, period, for the Browns... the fact remains that he never forgot Cleveland, and it honestly, really, broke his heart to leave Cleveland, when he moved the franchise,to Baltimore... he said,in an interview, that he wished he could make it up to "the people who sat in the Dawg Pound, every Sunday",and that he still missed Cleveland, even now... to the family of Art Modell,i send my sincerest condolences, and prayers,as they grief for their loss...

commentary...

this is my first full season,as a Packers' shareholder, and some people may believe that i may be a little soft on my criticism of the team... people who really know me know that will not be the case, because even though,i may want the Packers win every game, they will not be undefeated this season, and not perfect,as a team... the team is very good,on paper, but that is on paper, and the season is sixteen games, and the playoffs(if they get there)... knowing what i know of Packers' head coach Mike McCarthy,Aaron Rodgers,Clay Matthews, and Charles Woodson, and company, the Packers will be determined to be the best team that they can be,and some pundits have said that they may be the best team in the NFL,going into this season... i will not say that, because i do not want to get a swelled head, and outlandish expectations, like, unfortunately,i admit,i got a big head, after a 15-1 season, but honestly i came back crashing to earth, after the 37-20 thumping by the New York Giants,of the Packers,in the divisional round, last season,at Lambeau Field, which really hurt more than i can say,period... it taught me a valuable lesson:never count your chickens, before they hatch, which is the truest old saying,on record... so game by game, let us see how the Packers play out this season, and let us understand that pro football is just a game,a fun game, but still only a game... being a shareholder, and not just a fan made last season's 37-20 thumping,by the Giants, hurt in a real way that i can not describe,to put it mildly,i was not mad,or upset, but absolutely numb, and simply unable to talk, after the total thrashing,by the Giants... as a shareholder,i am determined to have the best team on the field that the team can have, and as a fan,i want the team to simply be the best that the team can be,so i will criticize the team, when necessary, and be happy, when possible...

Breaking news...

longtime Cleveland Browns, and Baltimore Ravens' owner(was a minority owner(1%),at this time),Art Modell has died at age 87... sincere condolences,to his family...

game score,and commentary...

Dallas Cowboys 24,New York Giants 17... the Dallas Cowboys' quarterback Tony Romo threw 22 completions in 29 passes, for 307 yards, with three touchdown passes, and only one interception... DeMarco Murray ran for 131 yards, with a 6.5 yard average per rush, including a 48 yard rushing play... the Cowboys' secondary shut down the vaunted Giants' wide receivers, and the New York Giants' Victor Cruz dropped three passes, and the Giants' defense looked like swiss cheese, and on the 48 yard run,by Murray,Justin Tuck(him,of the big foot in mouth) had him around the thighs, and Murray spun away, and he was off for 48 yards,up the sideline... Giants' quarterback Eli Manning did not play badly,at all,but the rest of the Giants played like they were "hung over",like they were touted as the best team in NFL,and they simply did not show up,like the defending Super Bowl Champions, and the Cowboys simply thumped them like an old drum, all night...

Giants celebrate,then fizzle...

Dallas Cowboys 24,New York Giants 17...

good luck,or bad...

the Packers have won eight straight games, and thirteen of the last fourteen games, against the San Francisco 49ers,including a 34-16 win, against the 49ers,on December 5th,2010,and are 13-4,against the 49ers,all-time,at Lambeau Field(including playoffs)...

morons on parade...

a third grader,in Greeley Colorado, was told he could not wear his Peyton Manning jersey to school, because the number 18 was associated with gangs... school officials have banned jerseys with the numbers 13,14,18,31,41,and 81,because the numbers are so-called associated with gangs... how about common sense??? a third grader who loves the Broncos, and Peyton Manning? way to go,Greeley public schools, for stamping out "gang life",in the third grade(severe sarcasm)...

an odd encounter...

this is a story that my late uncle told me,while in Seattle... my uncle was a pro wrestling fan,not a huge one,but still one... well,in the mid-80's,WWE/F was not like it is today... one night,at then ARCO Arena,in Sacramento,my uncle went to the rasslin' matches, and after the matches, ran into a man,who got left at the matches, after his cohorts left him at the arena... the man asked my uncle for a ride,to his hotel, and so he gave the man a lift, and they had dinner together... the man seemed very nice, and kind... funny thing is that the guy had a green tongue, and was hairy... the man was George "the Animal" Steele, one of the most prominent wrestlers,in the WWE/F,in the mid-80's...

NFL news...

the NFLPA has filed for a temporary restraining order, for the three players,(Will Smith,Scott Fujita, and Anthony Hargrove, cut by the Packers)involved in the Saints "bounty" scandal,in front of U.S. Second District(of Louisiana) Judge Helen G. Berrigan, who has not ruled yet,on the temporary restraining order, filed for,and by suspended New Orleans Saints' linebacker Jonathan Vilma...

commentary...

for what it is worth,Randy Moss has been named starting wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers... in the first six years,of his NFL career,he did tear up the Packers' secondary,as a Minnesota Vikings' player(1998-2003)... he has not played since 2010,but by reports,he has shown great things,to the 49ers' coaches,in practice, but will his attitude, and legs, hold up to the 16 game schedule... in 2010,he played for three different teams(New England Patriots,Vikings, and the Tennessee Titans),and had a handful of catches, for all three teams,in 2010... even he played for New England, for three years, and part of a fourth year(2007-2010),he wore out his welcome, and basically shut out the coaches, when his catches went somewhere else... question for Randy:are you going to shut down, when you do not get enough catches, like you did in Minnesota(twice),Oakland,New England, and Tennessee, and how many games, will you be motivated to play??? this is not 1998-2003,Randy,welcome back to Lambeau Field!!!

surprise...

even though the New York Giants got more first place votes(seven votes to three votes),the Green Bay Packers were voted on top of the NFL.com Power Poll(396 votes,to 381 votes),to start the 2012-2013 NFL season... it is basically because of the potent offense, period(my opinion)...

question in Minnesota...

the one basic question in Minnesota is:when is running back Adrian Peterson going to play for the Vikings??? he is a game time decision this weekend, against the Jacksonville Jaguars... he tore his anterior cruciate ligament, and medial collateral ligament in his left knee, less than nine months ago... Peterson had targeted opening week for his 2012-2013 season return...

Monday, September 3, 2012

a letter to Maurice Jones-Drew...

dear Maurice:you may believe that you have done the right thing,in holding out for thirty eight days, but you only came in because the Jaguars let you not pay the $1.5+ million dollar fine, you incurred while holding out... you led the NFL,in rushing the football(1,606 yards),last season,on a team that went 5-11... your arrogance over the thirty eight days astounds me,no end,and the holdout got you nothing;no new contract, and a lot of pissed off fans, because you did not live up to your remaining two years,on a five year contract, you signed three years ago... you say that you out-performed your contract(not true),because it was a great year that you had,i admit, but a contract is almost multi-year,except in cases of franchise tenders(contracts),and if you had a second great year, maybe you are right... a pointless holdout, and now your arrogance to the press and public makes you look very immature, and stupid,Maurice... have a great year!!!!!!

NFL news,and comment...

Dallas Cowboys' quarterback Tony Romo must be thin-skinned,because he walked out of a media session, after seven minutes, when asked by a reporter,if he thought the"window" was closing on the chances of the Cowboys winning the Super Bowl... way to go,Tony,on how to show your maturity and class!!!!!!

NFL news...

commentary...

i look at this year's Green Bay Packers' team as a work in progress:unproven(team chemistry-wise),at least, this year,so far,but they have talent at several positions, defense, and offense, but with the proven talent that is on this team, they should be a playoff team, but how they do,in the playoffs, when they get there, depends on many factors:team chemistry, key player injuries, and team timing(how the ball bounces, and how other teams do,this year),but honestly take care their own business, and they should go deep into the playoffs, which every fan,and shareholder,wants... the Packers have been very intense, quiet, and determined to make up,for last year's bitter end,to a memorable season, and yet they may say that is a different year, they still smart, collectively, and personally, from the bitter end to last year... anyone do not believe that little fact!!!!!!!
