Packers' news...

this is for my father:Davante Adams, out of Fresno State, made the fifty three player roster for the Packers, along with 2014 seventh round draft pick,Jeff Janis, out of Saginaw Valley State... most likely,Janis could be used on special teams... special note:Janis may be the fastest man on the roster... YAY!!!!!!!

notable NFL cuts...

Michael Sam was released by the St. Louis Rams;Champ Bailey was released by the New Orleans Saints;Ben-Jarvus Green Ellis was released by the Cincinnati Bengals;Nate Burleson was released by the Cleveland Browns, and Stephen Hill was released by the New York Jets...

comments...

i will note notable NFL cuts down to the fifty three player roster cut... deadline is one pm west coast time,today... note:even though the fifty three rosters are set, because of injuries or free agents signed by NFL teams, the rosters are not really set, until early next week...

a day at Lambeau Field...

on this day,it is overcast, and is supposed to rain in Green Bay,so Lambeau Field looks absolutely beautiful,as the NFL season starts on next Thursday... for that game(Packers at Seattle Seahawks),GO PACK GO!!!!!!!!

commentary...

last night's game between the Chiefs, and Packers was a game that Green Bay dominated, not so much by the score of 34-14,but if you saw the game, and listened to the game on radio, you knew the difference that the Packers seemed ready for the season, and the Chiefs had a way to go until they were ready for the season... Matt Flynn, and Scott Tolzien each threw two touchdown passes(so that battle is still raging),unlike last season, when the Packers did not have a viable backup quarterback going into the season, and they paid a steep price, when four different quarterbacks played for the Packers, when Aaron Rodgers were injured,in week nine, against the "hated" Chicago Bears, with a broken clavicle... the Packers' team defense has been solid throughout the preseason, which is good, but the real test is week one, against the defending Super Bowl Champions Seattle Seahawks,in Seattle,in six days(as of today)... right now,i do not know how the Packers will play,in Seattle, but they should be ready to go opening night...

Packers' news...

Packers play the Kansas City Chiefs,in final preseason game, tonight,at Lambeau Field... expect second team and players who want to make a run at making the fifty three player roster,on Saturday...

a day at Lambeau Field...

with tomorrow's final preseason game, against the Kansas City Chiefs, looming, the "Frozen Tundra" looks absolutely beautiful, and ready for the game... dreaming about sitting among 80,750* of my closest friends, watching the Packers beating the "hated" Chicago Bears... YAY!!!!!!!! *third largest capacity,of a stadium in the NFL...

NFL news,and comments...

Cleveland Browns' wide receiver Josh Gordon has been suspended for the 2014 NFL season for violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy... my opinion:Gordon showed no class during his "so-called" apology when he blamed the NFL and its hearing office for not using "better discretion and judgment" in his case... grow up,Josh... act responsible for your own stupid actions, and not blame the NFL for their actions when you did something stupid,period...

with the NFL regular season starting in nine days(Packers at Seattle Seahawks),i am slowly getting prepared to start blogging again... folks,it has been a terrible off-season for me,in more ways than one... i will be primed to go from day one... this year, there will be "beatdown of the week",recap of NFC North games,Packers' history(once weekly),and recaps of big NFL games, every week, along with personal criticism of the Packers, and how they will play,if needed, every week... right now,i am trying to expand my coverage of the NFL,in my blogging... that will take time...

blog statement...

folks,i woke up with a slight headache that actually has turned into a migraine, and right now,i have light sensitivity to my eyes,so i am not going to blog, until possibly later today... i will be just fine, but this does suck....

NFL news...

quarterback Sam Bradford,of the St. Louis Rams, has torn his left ACL(anterior cruciate ligament)... it is the same one that he had torn last season, and will be out for the season...

commentary...

sometimes,i get somber thinking about people whom i deeply miss, and i believe that this is one of those nights... i have tried to make both my blogs interesting to read, and i do love writing these blogs... NFL football starts September 4th,with probably the game of the early season, the Packers playing the Seattle Seahawks,in "12th Man" land(Seattle)... pundits are hyping on the fact that the Seahawks are Super Bowl XLVIII Champions, and the so-called "fact" that the Seahawks' defense are basically unbeatable... folks,i hate to mention the real fact that it was last season that the Seahawks won Super Bowl XLVIII,not this season(yet),and that it is not the same defense that Seattle had last season... on offense and defense, they have lost key players, via free agency, trades, and basic free agent signings to other teams... do not get me wrong:the Seahawks are still very good(they are Super Bowl Champions, after all),but every team now that they will play this season will give the Seahawks their best shot at beating them... one pundit said at one time this preseason that the differences in every NFL team is basically paper-thin,and i happen to agree, but with one caveat, and that is the fact that injuries happen to every team, including the Seahawks... football is a game that the saying,"anything can happen" is most true, because you can buy the 60's Packers(talent-wise),and still be real dog manure, because football is a game that is basically man to man,in detail, and some days you lose big, even when you are heavily favored, and your team comes out flatter than a crepe and nothing goes right, and the other team hands you your hat... so let pundits talk their pie holes off,and remember that that is the reason that they play the games, all 256 of them,to see who is the best, and even then, the best team does not always win...

Packers' news,and comments...

Packers beat the Raiders,31-21,last night, but the first team beat up on the Raiders,22-7,in the first twenty six minutes of game,so it appears that the Packers are ready(the first teams,i mean),for the regular season... the fourth preseason game may not be important for the first team, but it is very important for the players on the back end of the fifty three player roster,so even though,i will be watching,as a shareholder/owner,more than a fan in that last preseason game, and so i want to see who wants the last few roster spots, and who wants to step up,to show other teams that the players who do not make the final cut(minus the practice squad)of the Packers, that they have talent to be in the NFL...

Packers' news...

the Oakland Raiders are playing the Packers, tonight,at Lambeau Field,in Green Bay... it is on national television,on CBS...

Forbes ranks Packers' fans best fans in the NFL...

by the way,Forbes magazine ranked who are the best fans in the NFL... any doubt, who is on the top of that list??? the shareholders/fans of the Green Bay Packers... GO PACK GO!!!!!!!

commentary...

34-0 loss by the San Francisco 49ers loss,to the Denver Broncos,today... i know, really know, that is a preseason game, but it was on national television, and was in their new stadium,Levi's Stadium, and they had people leave in third quarter... if i was the 49ers' coaching staff, and players,i would be so upset to have egg on their face, because,no matter what the game means,YOU DID NOT SHOW UP TO EVEN COMPETE,PERIOD... what a game plan!!!!!!! not even showing up,period... the 49ers have scored only three points in the preseason,on their very first drive in the preseason, and then absolutely NOTHING... the 49ers have had a swagger for years, and yet, they got slapped and stomped in this preseason... they better come out firing against the Dallas Cowboys, week one,and get their head on straight, and stop thinking they are a "Super" team and start playing football the way that they can... before you believe that i am ragging on the 49ers(i am),you just want to see the "real" 49ers play football, and score points... embarrassing game, wasn't it???

Packers' history...

the team colors of the Packers were not always green and gold... actually, they were blue and gold,originally... what season did the Packers last wear blue and gold??? hint:it was also the last season of Curly Lambeau, after 31 seasons,as head coach... answer:the 1949 season,in which the Packers were 2-10...

in my life,part 3...

i have been quite bothered by some things this summer, and i could vent some anger about feeling like manure, and other things... however, that would be stupid, and somewhat moronic, because it is very simple to explain:my faith in the Lord has not been the same all summer, and it has bothered me a great deal... small things have gone quite crazy, and i have done a lot of prayer, which has helped some, until now... people,i have been up all night, listening to country music, doing some housework, and praying quietly to the Lord... no one may understand what i am saying, but a strong faith in the Lord, and prayer is very, very important to me... ever wonder why i am still alive, and on two feet??? it is only that one reason... my life has been a very rough and tough road to hoe,but honestly, there is no one else who made the choices that i have done, but myself... i do not blame anyone, but myself, for those choices in my life... simply said,i will be just fine, folks, but right now,i need more time to pray...

correction...

i am braindead at two am,folks... i meant to say,"who is going to rush the passer,on defense, for the Vikings???" i accidently said,"rush the football"... i corrected the slip of the tongue,on previous post... oops,folks... simply braindead!!!!!!

commentary...

as for the Minnesota Vikings,i do not mean to slight them, and they do have the best running back in the NFL,in Adrian Peterson, but the main weaknesses of the Vikings are multi-layered... one being(like the Cleveland Browns),who is going to start at quarterback, week one??? is it Matt Cassel,or Teddy Bridgewater? Bridgewater is the future of the Vikings' franchise,at quarterback, but is the future now??? the second weakness is:who is going to play defensive football, and simply rush the passer, for the Vikings??? with the loss of Jared Allen,to the "hated" Chicago Bears, anyone answer me that question...

commentary...

the weakness in the Packers' defense is simple to point out:lack of pass rush... that should improve with the addition of Julius Peppers on the left side of the defensive line, along with Clay Matthews, who had still six sacks, even though he missed five games, and he was the only real option for rushing the passer, last season... the strengths of the Packers' defense is their young, and talented defensive backfield... the weakness of the Chicago Bears, and the Detroit Lions' defenses are also simple to point out:their aging, but(can be-in case of Chicago)potent defensive backfields... if you can expose those weaknesses in the teams, you will be hitting pure gold... expect shootouts throughout the 2014 NFL season, this year,in the NFC North division...

comments...

"Idaho Spud" time,tonight... just tired of no football... however,Packers play the St. Louis Rams,Saturday afternoon,in St. Louis... will talk about that game tomorrow... quarterback Aaron Rodgers should play-how much is up in the air...

Packers' news...

Packers traded defensive lineman Jerel Worthy to the New England Patriots for a conditional late-round draft pick,in the 2015 NFL Draft...

Tuesday, August 12, 2014

if you think i am serious,i have beachfront property in Arizona,to sell you... any takers???

before you Packers' shareholders/owners go berserk, about the loss to the Tennessee Titans last week(laughing,if you are),the Packers had eight starters not playing, including quarterback Aaron Rodgers, running back Eddie Lacy, and wide receiver Jordy Nelson... note:Clay Matthews did play... note:when the Detroit Lions went 0-16,in 2008,their preseason record was 4-0,so you can treat preseason games,as trash,or as learning experiences... they do not count, but they are very useful for team building and chemistry, for the regular season...

in my life,part 2...

people think that they know me,but honestly,i am a complex person... of all my family,i am the shortest family member, but really,i am the person who you really do not want to make mad, because there is an old saying that dynamite comes in small packages, and even though i have a very long fuse, when it is lit, just watch out... i try very, very hard to curb my temper, but if you are on my list of scum,as i call it,i want nothing to do with you,period... in other words, you really have to be scum to be on it... in the past week,or so,i have not been in the best of moods, and funny thing is that i can not figure out why... i have spent a lot of time being by myself, and have done a lot of prayer, which has helped me,but i just feel a little off kilter still... i am not depressed at all,and i am happy about a lot of things, but still... writing my blog has helped, because i am writing about who i really am-a simple guy, whose family means a great deal to him,and a person whose life has been rough in spots, and yet, still look at the bright side of living... over the years,i have grown up to be a tougher than nails person,in a way that i have a very hard time explaining to anyone... being disabled, fighting my way up from that, thirteen years of severe, suicidal depression,a decade of being "on the road",and many other things that honestly could have killed me,and still,i am standing on two feet, even though i hurt every day from injuries all over my body... i have one of the best jazz music collections,in the state of California, with some of my music collection dating back to the 1910's,to 1920's... the person who got me listening to jazz was my sweet dear UNC,whose heart was quite special, and who would put headphones on me at various times, and would say,"listen to this,Chris"... my blues music is including in that large collection,too... what a guy!!!!!!! like i said,i am a very complex person... in my music collection, here is just a sample of artists that i have,Patsy Cline,Johnny Cash,Frank Sinatra,Muddy Waters,Son House,Robert Johnson,Stevie Wonder,Jimi Hendrix,Miles Davis,John Coltrane,Billie Holiday,Garth Brooks,Brad Paisley,Rascal Flatts,Jelly Roll Morton,Charles Mingus,Anita O'Day,and Thelonious Monk... what a collection, and what a complex person that i am...

RIP,Robin Williams...

comic Robin Williams has died,at age 63... my favorite movie of his,is a very odd, little known film, called,"Moscow on the Hudson"... his defection scene,in Bloomingdale's is simple classic Williams... there are scenes in that movie that showed his humanity, and depth,of a great actor... people may believe that some of his better movies are "Mrs. Doubtfire","the Birdcage","Good Will Hunting","Dead Poet's Society",and "Good Morning,Vietnam",but i loved the little known movie best...

commentary...

listened to the Packers-Titans preseason game broadcast last night... with Aaron Rodgers,Eddie Lacy, and Jordy Nelson taking night off,the Packers and Titans had a great game... Packers led game until just under six minutes left,in game,as Titans scored game-winning touchdown, but had to hang on,as Packers got stopped on downs(as pass got knocked away at the Titans' one yard line),in last two minutes, and Titans won 20-16... my opinion: a very good game for a preseason game...

in my life...

in my almost fifty five years of life,i have not been a total angel...i am basically very nice, but folks,i have had days, and years,in which i have been something less than angelic... in fact,i know some people who simply do not like me at all... to those people,i say that i really do not care a whit about what you believe about me... i learned a very long time that you can not please everybody, and i refuse to try to please those people who knock me down, and i also refuse to take any guff from people who dislike me,because those people are not worth my time... i spent close to a decade "on the road",and that time really taught me a great deal about life and people... most of that time,i had a meanness to me that i had to use to really survive "on the road",and walking and traveling this country gave me a ten year tan, because i was outside so often, but honestly i refused to buckle under to the aching need of being no one... i was a true survivor, and the main reason that i traveled so often that i really did not want to became a mental vegetable,by staying in one place for too long, because i knew down deep that i had too much on the "ball",to be a real piece of mental trash... i did some things that i truly regret, because i did hurt some people, but i wanted to really survive,so i was sometimes a real jerk,to put it mildly... i survived because i had to,and i did not care what i had to do to survive... i still do some of the things that i really learned "on the road",but i try very, very hard not to hurt people,so i smile a little more than i used to,folks, but, need be,i will be someone who you may not like too much, and honestly i really do not care a whit about it... i am a true survivor,so be it!!!!!!!

blog statement...

i will listen to the broadcast of the Packers-Titans preseason game, tomorrow night, for more reasons than the final score, paying more attention to the back end of the roster than to the starters... other than that,it will be "Idaho Spud" time, this weekend...

blog statement...

within a few days,i will start a daily post about Packers' history using the Packers' team historian,as my source...

a night at Lambeau Field...

Lambeau Field looks beautiful... i know that i have not looked at Lambeau Field, for awhile, but it looks absolutely gorgeous like a jack o'lantern, with the main concourse lighted up,and it looks like crooked teeth... just beautiful...

apparently,Favre is coming home...

there is a report, and press conference,Monday,in Green Bay,involving one Brett Favre... Favre's personal website says that he will be inducted into the Packers' Hall of Fame, next summer, and apparently, have his jersey retired, sometimes soon... Favre will be eligible for Hall of Fame induction in 2016,so the Packers want to induct into the team's Hall of Fame, and retire his jersey, before his expected induction into the Hall of Fame,in 2016... i guess both the Packers, and Favre want to make amends for his bad exit,in 2007... he says,on his personal website, that it will be a tremendous honor to be in the Packers' Hall of Fame, and was a tremendous honor to play for the Packers for sixteen years... i will hold my opinion until the press conference, and, ultimately,Favre's comments that he will make when he has his jersey retired, because he said some very hurtful things,to the fans of the Packers... i am willing to hope that he has much regret for what he said to the fans....

Saturday, August 2, 2014

commentary...

absolutely no disrespect to the seven new inductees of the Hall of Fame, because they were all great players, but the seven speeches and the television BS that linked the speeches together lasted over four hours, and by the end of it,i simply felt like i had been tortured by the length of it... one speech actually put me to sleep for a few minutes, because of a monotone voice, and one other inductee was thanking everyone in the stadium,it sounded like, and simply would not shut up,period... someone joked that it would end before the Hall of Fame class of 2015 was inducted... after the broadcast,i just screamed, and felt like i had been through the Bataan Death March... what a sham of a broadcast, and a shame,period...

commentary...

folks,i usually start blogging on the first of the month, every month, but yesterday,i just felt like taking a day off, after two horrible months in a row... it has been just a terrible summer, have been very ill with headaches(migraines suck-changes in weather cause them in me),and just being blah... i just hope August is much better, because i would love to have at least, one month of fun,and enjoyment this summer... i am just fine physically... i did change my diet,so i do not eat that much junk food anymore... at least,i try(laughing)... i have not had a can of soda, since February 2013,and have had only one burger,in five weeks... i do take my medications every day,and i have improved,health-wise,but i do wish that i could get rid of my migraines... i guess the weather has been very very poor(at least for me),and i do miss living near the beach, because,in seven years there,i could count the number of migraines on both hands... the ocean breezes swept away the crud that usually cause my migraines... having allergies does not help, because Sacramento is known for being allergy central... there is an old tale that if you live in Sacramento, you will develop an allergy to something, within a few years... family has been here forty five years,so you get the idea... maybe i am allergic to family(laughing),but again,i may just despise Sacramento that much(laughing)...
