prayers for Schumacher...

my prayers go out to Michael Schumacher, seven time formula one(F1)racing champion, who crashed, while skiing in the French Alps, clipped a snow covered stone, and went head first into a rock... the fall cracked his helmet... he is in a medically-induced coma, has had two surgeries, and is in very critical condition, but doctors say that he has made a "small" improvement, since admitted to the hospital... prayers go out to his family!!!!!!!

commentary...

the game against the 49ers that started this season,in Candlestick Park(thank God,that dump is going to be demolished,soon... i hated it,even when the San Francisco Giants played there...)will not be a fair reminder of how both teams play... by the way, they should demolish the Oakland Coliseum,too... that is a dump too... i am sorry, folks, but i am somewhat grumpy today... let me go back to what i wanted to say:the game that should be remembered by the Packers, honestly should be last January,at Candlestick, and two numbers should be scorched into their memory(579 total offensive yards, and 181 rushing yards by quarterback Colin Kaepernick, for the 49ers),because even though the 49ers have not been that explosive this year, they can be that explosive, and never forget running back Frank Gore, because he can devastate a team, like he did, against Seattle,on that final drive,of the 19-17 49ers' win... the Packers offense will score points, but remember that the 49ers' defense can really,"lay the real wood to you",on team defense... the Packers' defense are missing two key cogs(Johnny Jolly-their best run stuffer, and Clay Matthews-their best pass rusher),in their defense... why am i hyping the 49ers??? simply because,i really know that they are really good, period, and i do not want to puff smoke up your rear end... now,for the Packers:with the best quarterback in the NFL,in Aaron Rodgers, expect a dogfight, because he will keep slinging the football, but will throw it away, when needed,to a very dangerous receiving corps(Jordy Nelson,James Jones, and Randall Cobb),and can the offensive line keep Aaron Rodgers upright,or limit the sacks of Rodgers to a couple of sacks??? unlike last year, the Packers have an one-two punch in a bruising running attack,to relieve Rodgers somewhat on offense,in 1,178 yard rusher Eddie Lacy, and James Starks... the Packers' defensive backfield, that are missing Casey Hayward, who may be their best physical player("hitter"),and they need to limit damage by tackling early and often... without that,it really get ugly,or get into a shootout, for the Packers... even though, the Packers beat the Bears,33-28,last week,at times, the Packers' run defense looked like swiss cheese(running back Matt Forte had 110 rushing yards, and 157 combined offense yards),and i would hate to be in the defensive film room, because there may be a lot of cursing in the room,today... if Kaepernick, and Gore are not contained to a reasonable amount of rushing yards, and if the Packers can get off the field on 3rd down, the Packers can give the very dangerous Packers' offense, and quarterback Aaron Rodgers,a chance to do real damage,to the scoreboard... it will be played at Lambeau Field where the low temperature,a couple of days ago,of a record low of minus 19... BRRRRRR!!!!!!!

comments...

i just watched a replay of the Bears/Packers game, from yesterday... i am still smiling!!!!!! Packers' head coach Mike McCarthy said that it was quarterback Aaron Rodgers' finest hour... i agree, for now...

2014 Packers' opponents...

Home:Detroit Lions,Minnesota Vikings,Chicago Bears,New York Jets,New England Patriots,Philadelphia Eagles,Carolina Panthers,Atlanta Falcons... Away:Detroit Lions,Chicago Bears,Minnesota Vikings,Miami Dolphins,Buffalo Bills,Seattle Seahawks,New Orleans Saints,Tampa Bay Buccaneers...* dates not determined,yet...

commentary...

yesterday's game against the Bears was a typical NFC North "Norris" Division game... the Norris Division was the old name of the division that the Red Wings and Blackhawks played in the seasons of 1973-1974,to 1992-1993... Chicago played in the division from 1981-1982,to 1992-1993,so ESPN broadcaster Tom Berman would refer to the division,as,"the black and blue division"... the team hatred was on display during the game,at least once,as they had a big scrum,in defense of each team's teammates... both teams, honestly, deserved to win,but the Packers made one more play to win the game... both defenses really sucked most of the game, and quarterback Aaron Rodgers was very, very rusty early in the game, throwing two interceptions, but to be honest, one of the interceptions was an end zone interception, and the other interception was off the hands of wide receiver Jordy Nelson(a tipped pass),and if you asked Jordy,he would say that he would catch that pass ninety nine times, out of ninety nine... Jay Cutler, and Aaron Rodgers both had good games... the Bears did score three straight touchdowns, after halftime,to go up 28-20,with 14:55 left in the game, when Brandon Marshall caught a beautiful pass for a touchdown from Cutler... at that time,it looked like the Bears would win,but Rodgers and company caught fire, and the Bears made a couple mistakes to stop scoring, and the stage was set for the 48 yard touchdown pass from Rodgers to Randall Cobb, with 38 seconds left in game, for the Packers' win,and a place in Packers' history...

Lions fire Jim Schwartz...

this is a day that i honestly thought was way overdue:after losing six of the last seven games, and in a division that every starting quarterback, except their own, spent time on the pine, because of injury, and still the Lions could not win the NFC North, they laid the axe to head coach Jim Schwartz, and blew him out of town, after five years... he was a head coach, who was not disciplined in his tenure, and that really showed throughout his five years,as head coach

blog statement...

even though i have been on here today,i am going to rest up,and get well,today...

comment...

i will preview the 49ers/Packers Wild Card weekend game, starting tomorrow, and you may be surprised in what i have to say about the game...

commentary...

honestly, when i saw this season's schedule,i thought that it would come down to week seventeen, against the Chicago Bears, for the Packers... however,i really did not expect the division to actually implode,record-wise..i expected the Bears to play very well, but i did really expect the Lions, and Vikings to play better... before you count out the Packers against the 49ers,on Wild Card weekend, the Packers, under quarterback Aaron Rodgers, were 6-2,and the rest of the team is getting healthier, week after week... the drawbacks for the Packers is the run defense, like last year, but injuries have depleted the team defense, and offense(Randall Cobb, who missed ten games, with a broken leg-he caught two touchdown passes, against the Bears, and of course,Rodgers, who missed seven games with the pesky broken clavicle... simply said, with Clay Matthews, who missed five games, with a broken thumb, and Johnny Jolly, who will miss the playoffs were the big cogs that missed a lot of time, and the Packers' defensive backfield did not have many interceptions,or turnovers, overall,in the entire season, but had picked it up over the past five weeks... for example:having the Lions turn the ball over four times, but the offense never showed up Thanksgiving Day,and the Packers were embarrassed,40-10),but again the Lions imploded, after that rout, and missed the playoffs!!!!!! YAY!!!!!! to tell you the truth, the 49ers are a very good team, and really should be favored next weekend, but the record aside, the Packers can be dangerous in the playoffs, but honestly, everybody in the NFC playoffs are also very very tough, and dangerous to play,period...

Packers' game score...

NFC North Division Champion Green Bay Packers 33,the "hated" Chicago Bears 28... commentary later... San Francisco 49ers play Packers next,at Lambeau Field...

beatdown of the week...

New Orleans Saints 42,Tampa Bay Buccaneers 17... when you score six touchdowns in first seven possessions, you deserve to stomp your way to beatdown of the week...

number one NFL Draft pick sweepstakes....

loser of fourteen straight games, the Houston Texans own the first overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft...

comments on Rex Ryan...

i am no fan of the New York Jets' head coach-Rex Ryan, but i would not have given the team two wins all year... if he gets fired by owner Woody Johnson, tomorrow, because his team has missed the playoffs for the third straight season,he should be very proud, but folks,he has done a great coaching job, with an offense that was patchwork, and with a starting quarterback going down very, very early,in the season(Mark Sanchez),and a rookie quarterback(Geno Smith)that has been, kindly said, very inconsistent(basically,he has sucked)... this team did beat New England(yes, you say, with a very bad refereeing call,on New England(they missed the field goal, but with a flag on the Patriots' defense, the Jets kicked a game winning field goal,to beat them)... i hate to say this:he deserves another year,as Jets' head coach...

comment...

GAMEDAY!!!!!!!! BEAT THE BEARS,BEAT THE BEARS,BEAT THE BEARS!!!!!!!!!! GO PACK GO!!!!!!!!

Packers/Bears team hatred over the years...

you want to really know how much the team hatred is between the Bears and Packers... in the 1920's,a Bears' player broke the nose of the Packers' starting center, when he punched him... two things happened in 1985:William "the Refrigerator" Perry scored a touchdown rushing the ball(at Soldier Field),and caught a touchdown pass(at Lambeau Field),and someone put horse manure in the Bears' locker room, before the game,at Lambeau Field, that year... talk about team hatred....

commentary...

preparing for tomorrow... Packers/Bears,afternoon game... many others of interest, but looking forward to "the Brawl in Chicago"(my title for game)... it will be a dogfight, and expect some real nastiness,in the game, because both teams simply want to knock the other team out of the playoffs, and send them to play golf over the winter,i guess, this week... the Bears/Packers rivalry is the absolute best rivalry in the NFL,simply because the teams have played 187 games(188,on Sunday, with two playoff games),and both of the teams do not care about records... the teams have played every year, since 1921,except for the strike year of 1982,when both games with the Bears were cancelled... Bears lead all-time series 93-88-6... i "hate" the Bears, but deeply respect them,period... being a shareholder/owner,and part of Packers' team history make me understand how both teams simply do not like each other, period, and i do have an ornery edge to this game...

breaking news...

Dallas Cowboys' quarterback Tony Romo has had back surgery this morning, placed on injured reserve, and Kyle Orton will start, against the Philadelphia Eagles... as a fan of NFL football,i hope and pray that Romo recovers fully, and prayers go out to him...

Packers/Bears matchup...

even though the Bears gave up fifty four points to the Philadelphia Eagles, and looked like a team that had no clue how to stop anybody on offense,i do not expect that happening Sunday, but honestly, with a mostly healthy Green Bay Packers' offense, the Bears' defense needs to disrupt the timing of Rodgers, and the wide receivers, but with an addition of a bruising running game, the Packers will score points on the Bears... wide receiver Randall Cobb should play, coming back from a broken leg, along with running back Eddie Lacy who has a sprained ankle(but has vowed to play, against the Bears)... unfortunately, for the Bears, the Packers' offense will be the healthiest that they have been, since week one, which is major trouble for the Bears... now for the Packers' defense,Clay Matthews is out with a broken thumb(again),but the Packers' defense have been without Matthews most of the year,so they will be prepared to play without him... question for the Bears, and Packers:can the offenses light up the scoreboard, and the defenses stop anybody... Alshon Jeffery,Brandon Marshall, and Matt Forte power up the Bears' defense... can Jay Cutler be sharp, and basically out-score the Packers offense??? the keys to beat the Bears are to contain Matt Forte, and have quarterback Jay Cutler beat your defense... both defenses are not what they once were, but can Bears,and/or Packers take advantage(Bears:rushing defense, and Packers:passing defense:both weaknesses),but with Rodgers(who will be sharper later than earlier),and that healthy offense, points will be scored... the key to the Packers beating the Bears:keep Rodgers upright, let him run around outside the pocket, make broken plays, and let Lacy, and James Starks run through that swiss cheese defense, and on defense, force Cutler into turnovers, and have him beat you,if he can... pressure on Cutler will really help, but honestly,in that respect, the Packers' defense will miss Clay Matthews... honestly,if it is a dogfight, the Bears do have a chance, and yet,if it is a shootout, very few teams can out-score the Packers, with Rodgers at the helm,period... now for the keys for the Bears to beat the Packers:Jay Cutler being sharp,as a knife, passing the football, and running back Matt Forte rushing for over a hundred yards, and for the Bears' defense:harass and pressure Rodgers into mistakes(he has only four interceptions),stuff Lacy, and Starks, into a few yards, and make the Packers one dimensional, but with Rodgers, being one dimensional,is still deadly,or can be,period...

trivia...

to answer your question, folks,Packers' quarterback Aaron Rodgers is 9-2,against the Bears, and Bears' quarterback Jay Cutler is 1-7,against the Packers,lifetime...

commentary...

even though the Bears and the Packers play,Sunday,in Chicago,i do "hate" the Bears... as they are our oldest rival,in terms of years, going back to 1921,both teams have years of pure team hatred, and even fans, who simply do not like each other, period, they do deeply respect the other team, but deeply want to beat the other team,so badly, that the teams, and their fans would accept a 2-14 season,if those two wins were against the other team(laughing),but it is almost that bad of a team hatred... there have been Bears' players, and coaches that i have deep respect for(example:Gale Sayers,Walter Payton,Brian Urlacher, and George "Papa Bear" Halas),but honestly,as a fan,and shareholder/owner,i have always wanted to beat the Bears very badly, every year... i expect the game to be a real dogfight, and the Bears,or Packers would simply love to knock the other team out of the playoffs, and send the other team out to play golf, over the winter,period... this week is Bears' week,so,this week,i am irritable, and i do "hate" the Bears....

blog statement...

i will preview the Packers/Bears game,starting tomorrow,or later tonight...

Packers' news...

Packers' quarterback Aaron Rodgers will start for the Packers,Sunday afternoon, against the Chicago Bears, for the NFC North Division crown... first time,in seven games, since fracturing his clavicle, against the Bears,in week nine...

to a very very special lady...

to a very special lady on Christmas Day... being a part of this family has never been easy, because this is a bunch of real characters, and you literally jumped in with two teenage sons, and a third, named Margo E. Fudge(Walter),who were hellions growing up... it was a time of change for all of us... i grew up to really respect you first, and then love you over the years... two unique situations really got my attention... the only "fight" that you and my father ever had... he did something stupid, and you did something very smart, locking yourself in your car for God knows how many hours... how it ended was a classic Donism,if you understand what i mean... that got my attention, and my respect... i never told you until now that,at that moment,i smiled, and begun to understand that you were not one to mess with... we honestly have not always seen eye to eye,and i deeply regret that,in many ways... as i was reading Dickens,(a Christmas Carol,to be exact)last night,i thought about your very tough year, and how you and my dear departed mother got along, after that start was really amazing, and to this day,i do not know what you and her talked about... that is not important, but i remember that every time she got off the phone, she mentioned that you were a very good woman, and always had a smile on her face... it was like you two were like sisters, had a secret, and laughed so hard every time that you talked to one another... i smiled when i saw that smile, because i knew that you had talked... one question i always had:how did you two ever put up with my father, for 52 years, combined??? he is a character that always kept you,and us,on our toes... i have always said that you were the "rock" of the family, and i truly meant that,in the best way, because you are,and always have been, the calm one always,in a crisis... to tell you the honest truth,i was very, very worried about you, with what you have been through, but i knew down deep that you always have been tougher than iron, and a real fighter, and i knew that you were not giving up at all, without a major fight, and i know that it has been a real major fight... on this Christmas Day,i am very happy that you are there to put up with bunch of real characters, who may have been a blended family,at first, but will be always a real family, and that is most important to us all... to you,i deeply wish a Merry Christmas, and really remember that this day is all about...
Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!

Packers' news...

Sunday, December 22, 2013

commentary...

now i can say that the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers was heartbreaking, and yet, maybe the wackiest game this year... in a season that the Packers have played strangely, and still next week's game, against the Chicago Bears is for the NFC North Division crown... that is all that matters,period... the Packers are,in no way, perfect, but still being NFC North Division champions for the third straight year would be almost destiny for the Packers to win,but i am not giving the Bears short shrift, even with tonight's loss to the Eagles being so lopsided... honestly,i believe that they will be ready to play the Packers,as will the Packers be ready to play in Chicago,Sunday afternoon,period... BEARS WEEK IS NEXT WEEK!!! that is all that matters,period... i deeply respect the Bears, but i "despise" the Bears, being a Packers' shareholder/owner,period...

NFC North Division game that matter...

Philadelphia Eagles 54,Chicago Bears 11...

Packers' game score...

Steelers 38,Packers 31... HEARTBREAK!!!!!!!! Packers lose in last second,in a wild finish...

NFC North game that matter...

New York Giants 23,Detroit Lions 20,overtime... Detroit gets eliminated from playoff consideration...

NFL history...

Peyton Manning broke Tom Brady's NFL record for touchdown passes in a season... the Denver Broncos' quarterback threw his 51st touchdown pass of this season, against the Houston Texans...

beatdown of the week...

Cincinnati Bengals 42,Minnesota Vikings 14...

weather forecast in Green Bay...

there is snow on the pitch at Lambeau Field, and it is snowing heavy in Green Bay,and 22 degrees... welcome to real "Frozen Tundra"... Brrrr!!!!!!!! very, very, very cold!!!!!!!!!

Saturday, December 21, 2013

a very cold night,at Lambeau Field...

there is a large tarp on the pitch of the "Frozen Tundra",on a very cold night in Green Bay... even though, the pitch is called the "Frozen Tundra",it is heated underneath the tarp... there will be drifting snow tomorrow afternoon during the game... what a beautiful sight!!!!!!!

Packers' options...

the Packers are mathematically eliminated from the wild card race,so it is the NFC North Division,or bust, for the Packers... win both remaining games, against the Steelers, and the Chicago Bears, and the Packers will be in the playoffs,as the NFC North Division Champions... GO PACK GO!!!

Steelers/Packers matchup...

the Steelers are not the same team,as in Super Bowl XLV,the very last time these teams played, won by the Packers,31-25... however,in 2009,they played in Pittsburgh, and the Steelers won 37-36,on literally a last second touchdown pass thrown by "Big Ben" Roethlisberger... even though the Steelers have won six Super Bowl trophies(Lombardi Trophy),they have an article up on their blog, still moaning about Super Bowl XLV,named "the loss that still stings."... i guess they want to remind the players what happened that day... head coach Mike Tomlin said in some bulletin board material this week that he would have drafted running back Le'Veon Bell, instead of Eddie Lacy, and the organization put out an article trying to bolster their decision, and belittle(my opinion)the Packers' decision to draft Lacy, who many pundits said was the steal of the 2013 NFL Draft... Bell is a stud, but has only 646 rushing yards, this season,so far,but Lacy has 1,028 rushing yards, this season,so far(only 78 yards to break Packers' rookie rushing record-1,105 yards set by John Brockington(an underrated Packers' running back),in 1971)... the Steelers' defense can still hit like a ton of bricks, but has not made many big plays this season... through free agency, and injuries to LaMarr Woodley, the Steelers' pass rush has been ineffective most of the season... the keys to a Steelers' victory will be the offensive line blocking for Roethlisberger,Bell's running, and how Roethlisberger plays overall,in the game, because the Steelers' defensive backfield can be had over the top... now for the Packers:the run defense in the second half of the last two games has been good, but honestly the drawbacks for the Packers is the play of "starting" quarterback Matt Flynn in the first half of all the games that he has started(he has sucked to be blunt),giving the Packers' defense major headaches,by simply not being on the field having long drives, and the Packers falling behind to every team that they have played in the first halves of games, like scoring only three points, against the Cowboys, last week... the keys to a Packers' victory will be the play of Flynn in the first half, the running attack of Lacy, and James Starks, along with the entire defensive team play:can they respond like they did, against the Cowboys,in the second half, and can the Packers play an entire sixty minutes, finally, against Pittsburgh??? if they do not,the Steelers have enough offensive firepower to simply beat the Packers,period...

commentary...

i am one of the biggest fans, and being a shareholder/owner of the Packers,i wear a Packers' item every day, expect for Christmas Day(out of respect for family, that day),since i became a shareholder/owner,in 2011... in fact, two years of being a shareholder/owner,is coming up on Monday... yesterday's criticism of the Packers' team handling the situation of the health of quarterback Aaron Rodgers' clavicle was done in total frustration of the news coverage of the situation... i support and agree with the Packers' organization with their handling of the situation, because the long term health of Rodgers is absolutely paramount... an example of a team rushing a player back early was Detroit Lions' wide receiver Charles Rogers, who broke his clavicle,at the end of one season, then broke it again, opening game the next season, and was never the same player, again, and retired shortly after that, because of the injury... so being a quarterback is more valuable (especially this quarterback on this team),so we shareholders/owners,and fans just have to be patient with the "organizational" decision to sit Aaron Rodgers, because i have a question to the frustrated shareholders/owners,and fans, including myself:is it more important that the team has Rodgers over the next few years, then having him for the next few games this season, including the playoffs,if he is rushed back into action, and get really injured, and that injury affects him the rest of his possibly great career??? i believe a healthy Rodgers would benefit the Packers in the years to come... note:the very last time i played golf with my father,i played the round of nine holes, actually with a broken clavicle,so i know the pain of a broken clavicle(i fell in a tub,the week before the round)... if you do not believe me,remember, folks, how did i swing a club that day??? i was not taking the club all the way back to level, was i,folks???

Friday, December 20, 2013

weather forecast for Saturday night, and Sunday afternoon...

weather forecast for Green Bay:Saturday night,snow falling,21 degrees... Sunday morning,and afternoon:drifting snow,and up to 25 degrees... game starts at 3:25 pm.,central time...

comments...

what made me mad was a comment that Packers' head coach Mike McCarthy said during his press conference that,"we are not ready for Aaron to start"... question to the Packers:when are you ready for him to start for the Packers??? next week??? during the playoff push??? or next season???

NFL news,and comments...

Packers' quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been ruled out by doctors, again, for this week's game, against the Pittsburgh Steelers... i know that it is for the best for Aaron, but is he going to play again this season??? any answers, general manager Ted Thompson, president Mark Murphy,or even head coach Mike McCarthy??? this is frustrating for the shareholders/owners,or even the fans... if the Packers win this week, against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the game against the Chicago Bears will be for a playoff spot, and the NFC North Division crown... it must be for the same reason that Redskins' quarterback Robert Griffith III is sitting??? unfortunately, for the shareholders/owners,and the fans,it is getting very old,and an "organizational" decision to sit Rodgers must be a real bad Groundhog Day(a Bill Murray movie)reboot for the shareholders/owners,and fans;giving the shareholders/owners,and fans hope of seeing Rodgers play, then you pull the proverbial rug from the shareholders/owners,and fans week after week... it is getting very old,and still no answers,period... this situation really sucks,period...

blog statement...

i will be online later today,or tonight... need time to wake up...

notes...

Packers lead all-time series,19-14,including a win of 31-25,in Super Bowl XLV,over the Steelers... the first time both teams at City Stadium(now Lambeau Field) played was October 15,1933,when the Packers stomped the Steelers,47-0... the Packers are 20-1(,952),in home finales, since 1992...

commentary...

it has been nineteen years(on December 4th)since i have had a drink of alcohol,of any kind...i went up to Seattle to visit my dear departed uncle Bob,and he gave me a glass of wine to celebrate... i was fighting a cold that day... well, the wine opened up my head and overnight,i had a massive cold that lasted four days... i blame uncle Bob for it(of course,i am laughing, and smiling, when i say that)... well,in 1999,i visited a friend in Connecticut,or thought i was going to do it... well, the Greyhound bus trip almost collapsed from the very beginning... they lost my duffle bag out of Sacramento, and then in Lovelock,Nevada, they put a drunk next to me,and by the time i got to Wells,Nevada,i had a 104 degree fever, and felt lousy,so i spent four days in a hotel room, very sick... after four days,i finally got on a Greyhound bus,and made it to Salt Lake City, had to argue with Greyhound over where my duffle bag was,and had to work in a LDS warehouse for some new clothes that day(still had my original clothes on,from Sacramento),found out that i still had a 104 degree fever,so i went back to the bus station, found out again from the manager that i had the wrong ticket,so they gave me a new ticket for back east(nice people in Salt Lake),but that night,i got accused of beating up the bus manager's son,by the bus manager's son(and i almost got arrested)by the Salt Lake Police... luckily,i had witnesses to tell the cops that i had been there all night, waiting for the bus... well,i made it all the way to Sandusky,Ohio, before finding out that my duffle bag was in Boston(i had it sent back to Roseville,California,to my father),so about ten days after starting the trip,i hit Grand Central Station, through White Plains,New York, stayed five days in New Haven, visited my friend in Connecticut for about two and a half hours... the next day,i traveled up to Waterbury,Connecticut, and tried to get on a bus there, after an overnight stay... the people there,at the Greyhound bus station, wanted me to stay two more weeks... i basically told them where to put that idea, and told them off... i traveled back to New Haven, got lost the entire day on the stupid bus system, and then realized that to get out of town,i had to get to take the westernmost bus out of town, and then walk... well,i did that, walked past a theater that Star Wars I was playing at midnight,so i bought a ticket to see the movie, and after the movie,i started to walk a night time walk,to Stratford,Connecticut up the Boston Post Road(Highway 1)... i stopped just short of the bridge into Stratford, found a park to sleep in,and got awakened by a softball team who was practicing,so i shagged flies with the team, and someone asked me what i was from, and i said i was from Sacramento,California... after practice,i tried to get into a shelter in Stratford... they had a 24 hour wait,on the shelter, and then i asked to call Greyhound to find out if i could get on a bus... they adamantly refused to get me on a bus, without a two week stay, then an angel finally asked to talk to Greyhound(i was very very sick, and in tears,by that time) he asked the pertinent question to them:how much money would it take to get "this guy" on a bus??? they told him the amount, and we went over to the bus station,in Bridgeport, and i was put on a bus... about three weeks later,i got a letter of apology from Greyhound, with a $25 voucher for bus travel... i tore up the voucher, wrote a letter of reply, telling them that they were damn lucky that i did not sue the pants off them, for the miserable trip, and told them that i would never take another Greyhound bus(it took a decade for me to take another Greyhound bus)... i still have a souvenir from that trip... a softball up on my shelf... i still take it down and sometimes toss it in my hand...

blog statement...

i will preview the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, later on today...

NFL news,and commentary...

Seattle Seahawks' cornerback Brandon Browner has been suspended indefinitely for his second violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy... he can reapply for reinstatement in a year... my opinion:he got away with a four game suspension appeal last season, claiming the mishandling of his urine sample,at that time... first of all, what a jerk, and then i decry his arrogance in tempting fate a second time... that is the problem with people with money, especially movie stars, and athletes, who believe they are above the law, almost untouchable,so when they get into trouble, they either get a slap on the wrist,or even reduced jail time, for crimes that would land the vast majority of us in federal,or state prison... to Brandon,i say, enjoy your forced vacation, and GROW UP...

Packers' news...

quarterback Aaron Rodgers will be looked at,by the team doctors(with a bone scan, this week, too),on whether he could play this week... he wants to play quite badly, but i would expect Matt Flynn to start,if my gut is right, this week...

blog statement...

Reverse blog day 2014 will in first week of January 2014,where i put hockey blog on my football blog, and reverse the football blog to my hockey blog for one day only...

correction...

i am just disappointed in the NHL's Detroit Red Wings... i am going to leave previous post on this blog... sorry,folks... i will rewrite this on my other blog in a couple days, when i calm down...

Red Wings' game score,and commentary...

Ducks 5,Red Wings 2... when you have only eighteen shots, give up four goals,in first period, including one at the first period horn, and finally give up five straight goals, between Red Wings goals... a really ugly loss at home... the Red Wings looked very disinterested, and looked like dead meat,in their overall team effort,tonight... i am a hardcore fan of the Red Wings, but this really, really sucks,period... the Red Wings should stop making excuses, and that goes from top to bottom, including general manager Ken Holland, head coach Mike Babcock down to the twenty third person on the roster... NO EXCUSES,JUST PLAY RED WINGS' HOCKEY!!!!!! simply because the game that you are playing right now really stinks, and a pee wee hockey team could beat you,Red Wings!!!!!!!! what an insult to the fans,PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!

commentary...

first of all,the Packers have two games to go in this weird, and wacky NFL season... again i say,i deeply respect every NFL team that the Packers play, including the Pittsburgh Steelers, who they play at Lambeau Field,Sunday, and then they have Bears week, next week, and the game against the Chicago Bears,on the last Sunday of this NFL season... if the Packers beat the Steelers, the game against the Bears will be for the NFC North Division crown... be extremely warned,no matter what happens, next week will be Bears week, and no matter what the records are,the Bears and the Packers really do not like each other... i will be very irritable-possibly saying,"i hate the Bears" over the phone, and mumbling that in my sleep, every night...

commentary...

to be brutally honest, two weeks ago, after Thanksgiving Day,who honestly thought that the Detroit Lions would lose two games, and the Chicago Bears would lose one game,to honestly give the Packers a legitimate shot at the NFC North Division crown for possibly the third straight year??? i hoped, but snow would fall in hell before that would happen... SNOW FELL IN HELL,folks... i normally do not bet on football games, since i became a NFL owner, but knowing football, the odds would be about 1,000 to 1,because simply too many things had to happen for that scenario to happen, but to tell you the truth,i am extremely happy that it has fallen that way for the Packers... two games to go,and if the Packers win both games, especially against the Bears,in cold Chicago,in week seventeen, they will be NFC North Champions... after this up and down season,it would almost be destiny for the Packers...

NFC North score that matters...

Ravens 18,Lions 16... Packers control own playoff destiny by winning out, with this score... now the Packers/Bears game,in week seventeen, appears to be for the NFC North Division title...

car promotion really backfires,bigtime!!!!!!!!!

one car dealership,in Federal Way,Washington, yesterday had a promotion to give away $35,000 to 12 customers,if the Seahawks shut out the New York Giants... guess what:Seattle 23,New York Giants 0... Jet Chevy will give out $420,000,to the winners of the promotion... a big OOPS!!!!!!!!

Packers' history matched...

today's win against the Cowboys matched the biggest point comeback in team history... on September 12,1982,the Packers fell behind 23-0,at halftime,to the Los Angeles Rams,in Milwaukee, then outscored the Rams,35-0,to win game,35-23... in that strike shortened season, the Packers actually led the NFL,in points with 226 points... they were 5-3-1,under head coach Bart Starr... the quarterback was the very underrated Lynn Dickey...

a night at Lambeau Field...

Lambeau Field may be dark, just showing lights from the concourses throughout the stadium, but folks,it is just a very beautiful sight... folks,i am still smiling from ear to ear about today's game...

commentary...

after a team gets a field goal, they go punt, punt, punt, interception, punt, and go down by twenty three points,at halftime, you may believe that the game may be over... it did look like that way,for the Packers at the half, and to compound that little fact, they had not beaten the Cowboys,in Dallas, since December 24,1989(a 20-10 win)... it was dire and dark,at that point, and the fact that the Packers were facing playoff elimination,if they lost... what did you think was going to happen??? the Packers do an el foldo, and kiss the season goodbye, and goodnight... well, folks,in one of the greatest comebacks in Packers' history, the Packers scored thirty four points in the second half(five touchdowns in five straight possessions),and the Packers' defense played their best half of NFL football, this season, with critical turnovers and stops during a second half comeback that will live on in Packers' history forever... Eddie Lacy rushed for 141 yards, including a 60 yard run,and has rushed for over 1,000 yards,as a rookie... question to rest of NFL:how and why did Lacy get drafted by the Packers,in the second round in the 2013 NFL Draft??? you,as a league, may have reasons to really regret that oversight, over the next few years... for the Cowboys,Tony Romo threw two forgettable interceptions, and almost a third,in last three minutes,to set the stage for a comeback that will live on in Packers' history,forever... simply said,WHAT A GAME!!!!!!!!!!

Packers' game score,and comments...

Packers 37,Cowboys 36... in an improbable comeback, scoring five touchdowns,in second half, the Packers overcome a 26-3 halftime deficit,to win a wild one... a more detailed analysis later on...

blog statement...

first,of all,i have to apologize to you all, folks, for something i said earlier...

beatdown of the week...

Seattle Seahawks 23,New York Giants 0... when your quarterback gets intercepted five times, and leads NFL,with twenty four interceptions, and gets pulled in fourth quarter, your team gets the dubious honor of beatdown of the week...

in memory:Peter O'Toole...

my all-time favorite actor Peter O'Toole just died after a long illness... i will always remember him,as Alan Swann,in the comedy,"My Favorite Year"... what a hoot of a role, and what an actor!!!!!!!!

Packers' trivia...

December 24,1989 was the last time that Green Bay beat Dallas in Dallas... the score was 20-10... the quarterback that day was Don "the Magic Man" Majkowski... the Packers finished 1989 10-6 in then the NFC Central,in second place...

blog statement...

i know it is 3:15 am,and i enjoy the quiet, but i am going back to bed... i feel fine, but i need sleep... i am going to be online later... Packers play in an afternoon game, against the Dallas Cowboys...

Packers' news...

as for many reports, the Packers' team doctors said that quarterback Aaron Rodgers would not play this week, against the Dallas Cowboys, and have been to be known to be very conservative in nature compared to other NFL teams' doctors... Rodgers, and Packers' head coach Mike McCarthy are both very, very frustrated with the opinions of the Packers' team doctors...

commentary...

first of all,i have to deeply apologize to you,folks... i usually am a little earlier on my preview on the Packers' opponent every week, but to tell you the truth, maybe i have been enamored with quarterback Aaron Rodgers(the most talented, and pure quarterback in the NFL-sorry,folks,that is what i truly believe)a little too much... i also believe that the Packers' fans, and their shareholders/owners,have been spoiled with the fact that they have had very, very few quarterbacks under center, since 1992... so the six weeks, since Aaron Rodgers have been out with that pesky broken clavicle, the previews of the Packers have been tougher to come up with, because the Packers have been underdogs basically every game, and simply that really sucks... the Dallas Cowboys have the fourth worst overall team defense,in NFL history,as stats go,but quarterback Tony Romo is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL(even with the 45-28 loss to the "hated" Chicago Bears),but that night the cold and the pathetic Cowboys' defense was the problem with the Cowboys, that night... the main weapons for the Cowboys' offense are Romo, running back DeMarco Murray, wide receiver Dez Bryant, that may be the second best wide receiver,talent-wise,behind "Megatron" Calvin Johnson,of the Detroit Lions, who got taunted by Matt Elam of the Baltimore Ravens for being "old",this week... unfortunately, the last time he got taunted,by someone,he had 329 receiving yards... unfortunately for the Ravens, they go to Detroit indoors, this Monday night,on that turf... good luck,Matt... now back to the preview,on the Cowboys' defense, watch out for one player, and that is:middle linebacker Sean Lee,who left last week's game, with a neck sprain, but he should play against the Packers... as for the Packers, with Rodgers out another game, the keys will be the running attack(Eddie Lacy, and James Starks),and if the Packers' team defense can stop Romo,Murray,and/or Bryant(more like contain them,i know)... if they can,it will be a dogfight, but if not, watch out,Packers' defense... it could get real ugly, quickly,to tell you the truth, but honestly,i am looking for a real dogfight,myself... both teams really need to win,but honestly, the Packers need the win a little more, because they will not have a chance at the wild card, but with a win, they still have a real chance at the NFC North Division crown... at this time, the Packers are a half game out of first place in the NFC North, behind the Lions, and the Bears... the Cowboys still play the Philadelphia Eagles,in week seventeen, and are one game behind them in the NFC East Division...

Rodgers out against Cowboys....

Packers report that quarterback Aaron Rodgers will not play against Dallas Cowboys, this Sunday...

to two special people, memories of them...

this is actually a very emotional time for me,because i truly miss two special people:one being my dear departed mother, who i miss every single day;i still remember her sweet laugh, and her wicked but rather sly sense of humor... i miss her hugs, and the way that we always said good night to each other... it was so unique to both of us;she even did it earlier in the night(just about 36 hours before she passed away),and i still remember that to this moment... sorry, folks,i am in tears, and i need to wipe my eyes... this time of year is honestly very tough on me... the second person that i really miss is my soulmate, even now... unfortunately, she died on Christmas Day,1999,and i still remember her sweet smile, and her eyes the most... she had the most beautiful blue eyes that i have ever seen in my life... whether you believe me,or not,she had a heart that was really giving and warm... both people had their shortcomings, like we all have, but honestly they were basically two sweet loving people, and at this time of year,i truly miss, really miss them both... to them,i deeply give my love, and a real hat tip,as they really deserve both...

commentary...

the Washington Redskins are 3-10,have had three losing seasons in last four seasons, and how does Mike Shanahan have a job, with a current 24-37 head coaching record??? he "shuts down" his franchise quarterback three games before the end... Shanahan is still living off his two "John Elways"(this one's for John, remember that???)-Super Bowl XXXII,and Super Bowl XXXIII,but without Terrell Davis running like a wildman, they do not win anything... funny thing is that Shanahan has not won anything since Super Bowl XXXIIII... not a thing!!!!!!! it is a real joke that he is still a NFL head coach... you can tell that i do not like Shanahan... simply because he is not a real good head coach, and his arrogance about his coaching,period... i really feel very badly for "starting" quarterback Kirk Cousins, because he is basically playing because the Redskins are trying to see if he is a starting quarterback,or using him for trade bait,in my opinion... as for Robert Griffith III,enjoy the offseason, because for Shanahan to bench him after "only" 38 sacks this season is a real crock, and major joke!!!!!!!! as for Shanahan, who really cares???

Wednesday, December 11, 2013

injury update...

Packers' quarterback Aaron Rodgers was limited in practice, today, and,so far, again has not medically cleared by his,and the team's doctors... expect Matt Flynn to start against the Cowboys...

NFL news...

Washington Redskins' starting quarterback Robert Griffith III will be inactive, this week... Redskins' head coach Mike Shanahan(not my favorite person) said it is because of his health;"he wants him to be healthy for the offseason"... what a real crock!!!!!!!!!!!!! Redskins' owner Dan Snyder should fire this fool!!!!!!!!!

commentary...

after the Cowboys' defensive implosion, allowing the Chicago Bears not to punt during their game on Monday night,in Chicago, the game against the Packers will be a dogfight, next Sunday... Matt Flynn is a good backup, and yet,is not quarterback Aaron Rodgers, but the defense of the Cowboys is very very bad,and honestly, without much of a pass rush, the Cowboys' defense will be carved up like they are a Christmas ham,or turkey... even though they lost 45-28,to the Bears, basically it was not the offense's fault... when you have a team that does not punt, you are definitely in trouble, but the game is at ATT Stadium in Dallas,so the Cowboys will be ready to go,and fight down to the last second...

Tuesday, December 10, 2013

commentary...

Packers' quarterback Aaron Rodgers now admits that there was too much pain on last Wednesday,to even try to start last Sunday, against the Atlanta Falcons... three weeks ago,he said there was "very little" pain... i know that he is very frustrated with his injured(broken) clavicle, and is trying to push his pain limits,to try to start, before the season ends... he will undergo a bone scan this week, and practice tomorrow... expect Matt Flynn to start,Sunday, against the Dallas Cowboys...

comments...

Bears' week is basically for me,"Love to hate" Da Bears week... of course,i deeply respect Da Bears, but that week,a special feeling of "hate" comes over me... being a shareholder/owner of the Packers makes it so special... can not wait... i wish it was this week!!!!!!!!

commentary...

because of the Chicago Bears' 45-28 win over the Dallas Cowboys, last night, the game between the Packers and the Cowboys just became a must win game for both teams-Cowboys to have a chance at either a wild card spot or even the NFC East Division,in which the Philadelphia Eagles hold an one game edge over the Cowboys-and the Packers are only a half game behind Detroit Lions, and Chicago Bears,in the fight for the NFC North Division title... Cowboys play the Eagles and Packers play the "Da Bears",both in week seventeen... LOVE Bears' week!!!!!!! see the importance of the game,now...

clarification of post... a really wild game...

i had a post, yesterday, that said the Minnesota Vikings and Baltimore Ravens scored four touchdowns in last 2:15... i was wrong:it was five touchdowns, going from a 12-7 Vikings' lead,to a 29-26 Ravens' win, switching leads in that time four separate times...

Sunday, December 8, 2013

historic NFL record 64 yard field goal...

Matt Prater,of the Denver Broncos, kicked a NFL record 64 yard field goal in Denver, against the Tennessee Titans,to close out the first half... Titans lead 21-20 at halftime...

wild finish in Baltimore...

Baltimore Ravens 29,Minnesota Vikings 26... both teams combined for 42 points in fourth quarter, including a touchdown for the Ravens with four seconds left to win game... both teams scored four touchdowns,in last 2:15...

NFC North game that matters...

Philadelphia Eagles 34,Detroit Lions 20... in a snowstorm(white out, basically),the Lions implode, and today the Eagles are the best friends of the Packers...

beatdown of the week...

Kansas City Chiefs 45,Washington Redskins 10... Chiefs go out to 31-0,and 38-7 leads to crush the Redskins...

Packers' game score,and comments...

Packers 22,Falcons 21... OH BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT A GAME!!!!!!!! Falcons do not score in second half, and Packers come back from a 21-10 halftime deficit to win a wild one!!!!!!!!!!!!

correction...

Packers have won back to back NFC North Division titles... i corrected the slight mistake in previous post...

keep your chin up...

i was reading a Packers' writer and one question on his blog post got me to thinking:we as shareholders/owners,and/or fans have gotten used to winning games, and sometimes you forget that the losses that the team suffer does not mean that the team should fire everybody on the coaching staff,and/or the front office... the fans, and the shareholders/owners should really understand that NFL teams all go through losing streaks, and only the good teams cut them short, and have real class in dealing with them... in the terms of the Packers, major injuries have depleted the roster, not the fact that the coaching staff,and/or the front office have gotten stale, because the coaching staff are the same that have won back to back NFC North Division titles,a 15-1 record,in 2011,and Super Bowl XLV... to the shareholders/owners,and fans,i remind them that you should show team pride, and real class, even in a tough position, and a season that we are not used to,and in that way, keep your chin up,and root for the Green and Gold... that is a true Packer fan,period...

Favre is champion,again!!!!!!!!

Brett Favre is a State High School Champion,now... the assistant coach helped Oak Grove High School beat Tupelo High School 14-7 for the Mississippi 6A State High School Championship... he said that it may not be the Super Bowl but it is close... congrats,Brett!!!!

a day that will live in infamy...

seventy one years today, the Imperial Japanese Fleet attacked the United States Fleet, killing 2,402 people,1,177 on the U.S.S. Arizona alone, and wounding 1,282 people... the attack propelled the United States into World War II... to their memories,i give a deep bow,and a respectful hat tip...

Packers' news...

quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been ruled out for the game against the Atlanta Falcons, like expected...

Falcons/Packers,notes,and a commentary...

with the Packers coming off the lowest team point since the 1980's(a 40-10 non-competitive loss to the Detroit Lions),i have had a very hard time getting ready mentally for the Atlanta Falcons... the Falcons have a pitiful record in 3-9,which is good for the Packers to get well mentally, and even their also pitiful 5-6-1 team record to 6-6-1... luckily, for the Packers, the game is in Lambeau Field, not the Georgia Dome like most of the recent games between the teams... however, both teams have not played up to their potential, and have major injuries, and problems on offense to deal with... however, the Falcons' defense is their weakest part of their team;very few sacks, and their defensive backfield has been exposed as an unit that gives up gobs of yardage in the air... the Packers' defense has been pitiful through this five game non-winning streak(four losses, and a tie)... the keys to a win,for the Falcons,Roddy White,Tony Gonzalez, and quarterback Matt Ryan, and for the Packers:the entire Packers' defense... i could complain about the loss of quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and the pitiful Packers' offense(at least against the Lions),but honestly the drawback to the Packers' season so far,has been a very pitiful and embarrassed Packers' defense who given 400+ yards of opposing team offense through this long non-winning streak, and they have let down the entire team... if i had the chance to talk to head coach Mike McCarthy, and defensive coordinator Dom Capers,i would tell them:stop making excuses, and just play Packers' football,period... this season has sucked for the most part,i hate to admit, but winning games would help... stop talking about making the playoffs(the Packers are the 10th seed),and just win a game... JUST WIN A GAME,PERIOD...

weather forecast for Green Bay,Saturday night/Sunday morning...

snow in Green Bay,finally... weather forecast:Green Bay 21 degrees... weather forecast for Saturday night:5 degrees... game time:noon central time...

a very tragic true story...

this is the true story of the only NFL player who literally died on the field, during a NFL game... his name was Chuck Hughes... he played for a couple of NFL teams, including the Detroit Lions... during the 1971 season,he got injured, while suffering a big hit,got transported to the hospital, spent four days in there, and the doctors could not figure what was wrong... doctors back then did not think about a heart attack or check in a person that fit or young, even though he did complain of chest pains... the week before the tragic October 24,1971 game, against the Bears,he was very ill,and did not feel well, but the night before the game,he went to the team hotel, per custom, back then... according to players,he spent the night vomiting, and did not call his wife that night, like he did before every game... during the game,he caught a few passes, and during a break in the action,he locked eyes with Dick Butkis, and fell over dead... at first,Butkis thought that it was a fake injury, like players were to known to do,but when Hughes did not move,Butkis went nuts, waving his arms, trying to get attention... an autopsy revealed that Hughes had an enlarged liver, and spleen, during the earlier injury, and suffered a heart attack that day, too, because of a very painful spleen injury, doctors believe that he had, that doctors say that he had,and it triggered the first heart attack... the autopsy revealed that he died of a blood clot that lodged in a hardened artery that resulted the final heart attack that killed him that October 24,1971... pro football nowadays is a safer, but still violent contact sport, but it is safer now, simply because of a very tragic death of a backup football player named Chuck Hughes on that October,24,1971...

Packers' news...

Packers' quarterback Aaron Rodgers "not ruled out" to play, against the Atlanta Falcons, but has not been medically cleared to play... expect Matt Flynn to start against the Falcons... oh,folks,he has to play better than when he played against the Detroit Lions,or does he... 40-10,UGH!!!!!!!!!

injury update,and comments...

Packers' quarterback are undergoing tests on his broken clavicle... there is a rumor that the Packers are debating whether to shut down Rodgers for the season,if the Packers are out of the hunt for the playoffs, and the Packers need some wins, and some help to get a playoff spot,i have to admit that... Mike McCarthy has put his usual Monday press conference back one day to today,i guess,to give an update on Rodgers...

NFC North game that matters...

Minnesota Vikings 23,Chicago Bears 20,overtime... Adrian Peterson rushed for 211 yards,as the Vikings win a wild game,in overtime...

special mention...

Adrian Peterson,of the Minnesota Vikings, became the 28th player in NFL history to rush for more than 10,000 yards in his NFL career...

NFL history...

Josh Gordon of the Cleveland Browns became the only player in NFL history to have two consecutive 200+ yard receiving days in last two games...

note...

i am watching NFL football... having fun right now... Chicago Bears/Minnesota Vikings, later on...

cartoon historic trivia...

in the Disney 1942 classic "Bambi",to properly capture the movements of live deer,Disney shipped two live fawns from Maine to California for the animators to look at,during the drawings' portion for the movie...

commentary...

i was going to take a couple days off,and for the most part,i shall do it,but i have to say one more thing about the Packers' game,yesterday... as a shareholder/owner of the Packers, the overall record of the team does not matter,if it is 4-12,8-8,or 12-4,or even better than that, the fight and the pride of what the team really means is what really counts... in the next ten days, this current team should go back, and look at the history of the Packers, when the team under head coach Vince Lombardi had the idea that they never lost a game, regardless of the final score, but they just ran out of time on the game clock, against their opponent... do you understand that little point??? the Packers are a team with the tradition of not giving up until the last absolute second of the game... the Packers will lose again, and quite badly,at times, but this low point,in team history should be a rallying cry for the team for years to come, and someone should remember that the team is built on a tradition of "never give up"(to borrow from the WWE),even when down, because the team will lose again, and quite badly, and yet,it is the way that you will react to the loss... if you lose,do it with fight and real team pride, remembering that things will go wrong, but you never lose, with remembering the real Packers' tradition... that is what really matters, after all

blog statement...

i am taking a couple of days off... i need them...

Packers' game score, and beatdown of the week, with commentary...

Detroit Lions 40,Green Bay Packers 10... i have seen worse scores in the NFL this season, but let me say this:there has not been a worst game than this one, period, and it is their worst game effort, since the 1980's... i could go absolutely psycho on this game, but honestly,i have NEVER been more embarrassed by a team's effort than i am right now... to have fifty six total offensive yards,in the game up to the moment that the Lions was scoring their fortieth point, and the Lions having 563 yards on team offense up to that point, and the Lions turning the ball over four times, missed a chip shot field goal, and kicking the football out of bounds on a kickoff, not once, but twice, and still have that futile of an offense speaks volumes for the Packers... the total yards in the game was:Packers 126,Lions 561,a difference in yardage of 435 yards, and the greatest difference in yardage in a NFL game,in eight years... the Lions scored 37 straight points to decimate the Packers, and they call that a game... what were they watching??? i put the blame for the game plan, and execution,on head coach Mike McCarthy, and defensive coordinator Dom Capers, and to tell you the absolute truth, the Packers did not show up,they stunk, and the coaching staff did not coach at all... you can gripe about losing quarterback Aaron Rodgers all you want, but the team has sunk to an all time low on pure effort, and what has happened to the Packer team pride??? i guess it got off the bus in Green Bay,and stayed there, because they should be really embarrassed by their really disgusting, and simply putrid effort... the Packers will be beaten badly again, and perhaps by a worse score, that happens, you know, but the game today will live in my memory, forever, because of the lack of team effort, and simple team pride... in the next ten days, the team must show some team pride, and play simple basic Packers' football, because this game had no effort,or team pride,period... it appears that the real team never got off the bus(and i do not mean physically),because they never exhibited real Packer fight, and, definitely, never showed Packer team pride...

blog statement...

i will comment on today's Packers' laying a big rotten egg,tonight... i am not happy... that really sucks... it is time to criticize the Packers...
Happy Thanksgiving Day...

Wednesday, November 27, 2013

commentary...

Matt Flynn will start for the Packers, tomorrow, and the Lions are mad that he "got paid",because of his very, very good game stats, against the Lions,in 2011:480 passing yards, and six touchdown passes,in week seventeen that year... he signed a very big free agent contract with the Seattle Seahawks after the 2011 NFL season... my opinion:i do not care a whit about how the Lions feel about that... the simple fact is that the Lions got beat that day in a shootout... to head coach Jim Schwartz, and to the Lions,i say,who cares about you feel like about that game... of the three other teams in the NFC North,i do not have any respect for the Lions, because the team plays rather "dirty",and their head coach is a loudmouth... it still irritates me that Ndamukong Suh stomped Evan Dietrich-Smith,and then basically acted arrogantly about it to the press... even the Chicago Bears and the Minnesota Vikings play hard, and, yet,do not play "dirty",so i have a great deal of respect for them, but the Lions just irritate me...

Tuesday, November 26, 2013

commentary...

honestly, the Lions should be favored Thanksgiving Day,over the Packers... however, they have been undisciplined in their team playing football, and have lost games that, honestly, they should have won going away... example is that Tampa Bay missed two field goals,in the fourth quarter, giving the Lions chances to score a field goal,to tie game at 24,and send game into overtime, and possibly win the game, but quarterback Matthew Stafford threw interception after interception,or he got sacked at critical times to stop drives in fourth quarter... quarterback Aaron Rodgers have a "very slim to none" chance to play against the Lions,so Matt Flynn should start in his place Thursday... the Lions did not have wide receiver Calvin Johnson the last time that they played the Packers, and the Packers won 22-9,but Aaron Rodgers played the last time that the Packers played the Lions... is Thursday going to be like week seventeen of 2011,when both quarterbacks threw for 1,000 yards, combined, and threw an astounding eleven touchdowns, between Matt Flynn and Matthew Stafford,or is the game going to be like a slugfest, that goes down to the last minute??? the Lions' defensive backfield can be had, because they have been like swiss cheese in some of their games, this season, and the Packers' defensive backfield have a league low four interceptions this season... both teams would love to win,but for the Packers, this game is a must win game...

Monday, November 25, 2013

commentary...

i used to run 12-15 miles a day... well, today,i did a lot of things, including getting a hair cut, shaved my unruly beard, did some laundry, and decided to lightly jog... i ran 1/4 mile, and then did some sprints... my health is all right, but i have been very, very unhappy with my appearance, lately,so i decided to clean myself up... i look presentable for Thanksgiving,if i go to my family's house(laughing)... honestly,i really felt very well after running that short distance,so i deeply want to improve my overall health... i used to run to relax, and enjoy my training for obvious reasons, but also for one basic reason,i wanted to be in condition for a marathon, which took a long time to train... i am overweight, and very sad about it... even running that short distance made me smile... people may say that my days as a marathon runner may be over, but honestly,if i do train the right way, they may not be over... honestly, doing five miles right off the proverbial bat would do me more damage, but if i start off very, very slowly, and rebuild my overall stamina over the next couple of years(not rush myself with undue pressure),then i will be ready for any race that i will attempt, because i want to do it the right way,and get very healthy,in the process...

blog statement...

since the Packers next play the Detroit Lions,on Thursday(Thanksgiving day),i will preview the game starting, most likely,tomorrow... note:first place will be on the line, when the Packers(5-5-1)play the Lions(6-5)...

Sunday, November 24, 2013

commentary...

no one is happy in Green Bay after today's tie against the Vikings... i am not happy about the tie,as a shareholder/owner of the Packers, but as a fan,i am still smiling, because in the fourth quarter, the Packers came to life offensively,as the Vikings crumbled,offensively... to give the Vikings their proper due, they rushed for 237 yards as a team(Adrian Peterson 146 yards,Toby Gerhart,91 yards),but what got them their 23-7 lead, early in the fourth quarter was the offensive balance that they had,but they dropped critical passes at critical times,to prolong drives late in fourth quarter, and into overtime... Matt Flynn came in for an ineffective Scott Tolzien,in the third quarter, and threw for 218 yards and,i believe,a touchdown in fourth quarter, and did a heck of a job... the Packers' defense was swiss cheese against the run,and had an overall bad day, excluding the fact that they had six quarterback sacks(two by linebacker Clay Matthews),on Vikings' quarterback Christian Ponder, but the Vikings' receivers dropped quite a few passes,in the fourth quarter, and in overtime... Eddie Lacy, for the Packers, had 110 yards on 25 carries, with a touchdown... Tolzien also had a six yard rushing touchdown,to start the scoring, but then went ice cold until he was relieved by Flynn, who was the hero,if there was one for the Packers... this is only the second tie,in 107 meetings between the teams... the other one:November 26,1978:a 10-10 tie in Green Bay...

beatdown of the week...

NFL news...

NFL umpire Roy Ellison has been suspended one game without pay,for cursing at Washington Redskins' offensive tackle Trent Williams... it is not the first time that Ellison has cursed at a NFL player, and it is the first time that a NFL official has been suspended since 1984,when a NFL official has to be restrained from going after fans at a NFL game...

a night at Lambeau Field, and weather forecast for Sunday...

the lights are on,and the pitch is ready for the game Sunday, against the Minnesota Vikings... it looks beautiful... weather forecasts for Green Bay,Saturday night:7 degrees,Sunday:high temperature:21 degrees, game time:12 noon, central time:guess??? my guess:high teens... Brrrrr!!!!!!!

blog statement...

i am taking day off... i am just fine physically, but mentally i am very tired... i probably will write on blog later tonight, but i am not guaranteeing anything... i simply want to do my best on my blogs, and sometimes,i feel that i need time off to temporarily recharge my "batteries"... to tell you the truth,my "batteries" are very low,and i need to go for a walk,or become a couch potato... Couch Potato,it is(laughing),because it is very windy outside!!!!!!!!

correction...

i must have lost a day somewhere... the 50th anniversary of JFK's assassination is tomorrow... i have seen so much JFK specials this week that i must have skipped a day... in 1988,the 25th anniversary,i actually saw the coverage by CBS that occurred on November 22,1963... it was sad in 1988,but it must have been devastating to America that day,in 1963,in Dallas,Texas...

REMEMBERING JFK...

Today is the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy(JFK),in Dallas Texas... one of the saddest days in American history,period... personally do not remember too much of that day(i was four that day),but things did change forever, that day... it happened at 12:30 pm. central time,at Dailey Plaza,as he was on his way to give a speech... instead,America cried, and still cries...

Vikings/Packers notes...

honestly,i would say that the Packers would have a edge,at home, against the Minnesota Vikings,if quarterback Aaron Rodgers was playing Sunday, but he is not,so the game will be a dogfight,at Lambeau Field... the big edge for Minnesota is running back Adrian Peterson, who ran for 210 yards,in the last game, against the Packers,at Lambeau Field... however, that is last year, and except for the occasional flash of power,Peterson has been just ordinary running with the football, but to give him proper due,he has not run too much in the second half of their games, because of the Vikings' 2-8 record... expect him to given "the rock" all day,Sunday, because simply the Packers are not too explosive on offense,lately... the Packers' defense is good against the run,and the defensive backfield has forced two turnovers in the last two games, which is not too good, overall(nine turnovers for the season),but improving,lately... the big question mark for both teams is at quarterback-Scott Tolzien, for the Packers, and Christian Ponder, for the Vikings, who has won only won one game all season,as quarterback... this is a must win game for the Packers, and the Vikings would just love to beat the Packers to give the Packers' season the final nail in their playoff coffin, and to destroy their playoff chances... the crowd at Lambeau will be so pumped up,and may be the motivation for the Packers to pound the Vikings into the "Frozen Tundra"... after the season that the Vikings have had, they will be ready to fight to the final second of the game to beat their bitter division rival, and after three straight losses, the Packers will be ready to pound their bitter division rival into the "Frozen Tundra",and save their slim playoff chances... note:i say that, because to get into the playoffs, the Packers need to win their division, and the proverbial table is set to do so,but three tough division games remain, and no matter what the records are,all the teams know that fact,period...

injury update...

Packers' team doctors and quarterback Aaron Rodgers have said the recovery from his broken clavicle has nothing to do with pain tolerance, but has to do with risk assessment, meaning,if he injures it again, that he could miss up to six months... Rodgers has said that he has no pain from running, and throwing the football, and would need,at least, two practice days, before playing in a NFL game...

a big if...

even though the Packers have lost three straight games,if they can win the three remaining divisional games on their schedule, they will win the NFC North, because of a possible 5-1 division record...

a real joker...

my dear father replied to my e-mail of,"love you very much" with this classic reply,"me too. Pro. i love me very much, too." made me laugh so very hard that i still have a smile... way to go Dad!!!!

comments, along with a night at Lambeau Field...

it must be cold in Green Bay,tonight, but the lights are on,a heated tarp is on the field, and a group of scaffolds are also on the field... my dream would be me sitting in the bowl at Lambeau Field, just once... being a shareholder/owner of the Packers is something that i am very proud of,and that is more important to me,because my overall support of the team really matters to me,period... it is amazing to me to know that i am truly part of Packers' history, just like "Curly" Lambeau, and Vince Lombardi, and wins do matter, but to think of that,it leaves me very proud,and,yet,speechless...

a mention of a special person...

last night,i did not go to bed until three am this morning... i was thinking about the one person that i truly miss every day, besides family... folks,i almost got married once, she was truly special, and she was my only true love... for this, she will remain nameless, but in many ways, she was very unique, and that is an understatement... she had her faults, and i knew every one of them, but she would smile at me,most of the time, and i would see a ray of sunshine that could make a bad day seem not so bad,and at times, things were very tough on me... honestly,i did some things that i truly regret, and feel bad about, even now that caused her a lot of pain, and i am not talking,in no way, about physical pain, but our arguments were legendary, and i would take a long walk... one such walk took me to the east coast, because i truly forgot how to read her emotions... to tell you the truth, she was in such agony, and pain, that she would not tell me that anything was wrong(stiff upper lip,if you know what i mean),but then she would get angry at me because of trivial things, and,(unknown to me) the agony and the pain... i only wish that she would have told me how much pain she was in,because she slept in a hospital bed, even in her apartment... i now know why she was in such agony... she had four operations in a span of eighteen months-two on her back, and stomach(the stabilizing rod in her back, from her first operation, when she was paralyzed, was dissolving into her spinal cord),and she had so many things hurting her(really too many things to count,or even talk about)... the last operation was on her 49th birthday, but they found a cancerous tumor,so they just sewed her back up,and told her that she had months to live... this will be the only time that i will ever talk about this publicly... it is still too painful... people have their own opinions about her,and they are valid,no doubt, but it is my opinion that really matters... i spent literally the last fifty four days of her life with her, eighteen to twenty hours a day,as she slowly wasted away in front of me,but i took care of her every need, except for her nursing help in the morning... the nursing staff did not like me... i did not care, but they respected me,no end... she and i had a private ceremony saying what was in our hearts three days before she died... we held hands and said that we loved each other in a way that is special... the last thing that she ever said to me in person was,"why did you eat my hamburger"(i had taken a bite),but i received a message on my phone,at 2:15 am,saying that she loved me... that was her being special... she died Christmas Day,1999... i miss her still...

a note of honesty...

folks, sometimes things do not go your way,and you need a break from the games,or teams that you root for... last night,i went over to my brother's house, played cribbage(split two games),had dinner, and watched the USC Trojans beat the Stanford Cardinal,20-17... my brother went to the University of Southern California, and it was his turn to go nutty over the game(laughing)... i basically sat there for most of the game, just smiling,if you know what i mean... i actually missed watching the Detroit Red Wings play the New York Islanders(i miss about two games a year,on the average),but i had an option to watch it on tape... i declined to watch it... in fact,i watched only one highlight from the game-the really sick(awesome)goal that Pavel Datsyuk scored to tie game at four, with just under 43 seconds left,to play, then i turned on WWE programming, and got myself lost in basic nonsense for the night... i learned a long time ago that a game is a game, but honestly,it took a lot of stupidity, and humiliation to go through, and my family knows that to be true... so,it is frustrating to watch your teams go without a win for weeks, and yet,you can still laugh, and smile, and there is always tomorrow, next week,or even next year, but you will always be a real fan,or a shareholder/owner,so you can very proud of your teams, and yet still be frustrated... that is the real reason to be a true fan,period...

Packers' game score,and comments...

Giants 27,Packers 13... third straight loss-first time, since 2008,when Aaron Rodgers was first year starter... you are what your record indicates(Packers 5-5)... i must be a real hardcore fan of the teams that i root for, because the last few weeks have been very, very, very tough to be a real fan... you can be a fan when your team is winning, but it takes a real hardcore fan to see the silver lining in real misery,or,in other words,in really tough times...

Packers/Giants,last year...

last year's game against the Giants was a 38-10 rout,in which then Packers' defensive end Charles Woodson, defensive end Clay Matthews, and then Packers' wide receiver Greg Jennings did not play in the game... without Matthews, and Woodson, the Packers did not have a pass rush, and the Giants' passing attack, and rushing attack went wild, with quarterback Eli Manning throwing three touchdown passes, and the Giants' rushers went through the defensive line like butter, and without Jennings,Aaron Rodgers got sacked like a bag of groceries, and the game was basically over by halftime... i even went shopping at halftime, and just mumbled quite loudly... the Packers got hosed down, and shot like a rabid dog,38-10,that Sunday night, and it was the worst game that the Packers played, last year... (thought that you needed a smile and a chuckle)...

Friday, November 15, 2013

Packers/Giants notes...

the New York Giants will be favored by most pundits, and they really should be,but quarterback Eli Manning has thrown sixteen interceptions(near the top of the NFL)... the Giants have won last three games between the Packers, and Giants, including one playoff game, and yet,the Packers have visited Met Life Stadium the last four years(Giants,2011,2012,and this year;Jets,2010)... the Packers have turned to their third string quarterback,Scott Tolzien, after Aaron Rodgers, and Seneca Wallace went down with injuries,in last two games... Matt Flynn was signed as backup quarterback... defensive end Clay Matthews will play with a padded brace, after playing with a club cast,on his healing broken thumb... Tolzien had the best Packers' rookie passing day(280 yards),in his first NFL game, since a little known castoff second round Atlanta Falcons' draft pick, named Brett Favre, passed for 292 yards in a comeback 24-23 win, over the Cincinnati Bengals, when Don Majkowski(the Magic Man) went down with a broken leg... i am not saying,in no way, that Tolzien is Favre, but facts are facts... Packers have only forced eight turnovers(near the bottom of the NFL),and one of the weaknesses of the Packers' defense, but they are in top twelve in NFL in sacking the quarterback, even without Clay Matthews.... more later...

injury update...

Packers' tight end Jermichael Finley has returned to Green Bay after successful spinal fusion surgery... whether he plays football is not so important, but i deeply hope that he recovers fully from his injury...

blog statement...

by the way,i will preview the Packers' game against the New York Giants, later tonight,or tomorrow morning... i have a slight headache, and accidently hit the back of my head against my bedroom wall, rolling over,in my sleep, but folks,i am just fine... just taking it very easy the last couple days...

Packers' news...

Packers' defensive end Clay Matthews will wear a padded brace, instead of the club cast,on his healing broken thumb,Sunday, against the New York Giants...

Packers' news...

Packers' tight end Jermichael Finley, who was put on injured reserve recently, will undergo spinal fusion surgery... whether he plays football again is debatable, but i do wish him a speedy recovery...

commentary...

let me tell you a story:as a first year starting quarterback(2008),Aaron Rodgers threw for over 4,000 yards, and the Packers were 6-10,and were 1-7,or 1-8,in losing a game,in which the Packers had a lead in last four minutes, and then lost game... as that season progressed, and i listened to every game on XM,i started to get upset with the overall play of the Packers, but after about four miserable, and heartbreaking losses,i came to realize,as losses mounted, that Rodgers was getting better with every single game, and that he just needed some maturing into that position, and that he would be much better in the coming seasons... the next season, the Packers lost in the playoffs,51-45,to the Arizona Cardinals,in a game that ended with an uncalled facemask penalty/fumble returned for the winning touchdown in overtime, but let me remind you that a Packers' receiver dropped a sure touchdown pass on a bomb from Rodgers on the play before the game ending play... heartbreak, but learning!!!!! in 2010,on a day that will be remembered by me forever, the New York Giants lost to the Philadelphia Eagles on a play that can be only called "crazy":a game ending punt return touchdown, and 38-31 loss for the Giants, and then an improbable road win by the Detroit Lions who had lost,i believe,a NFL record,26 straight games, over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers,in overtime... that night, the Packers lost to New England,31-27,on a,i believe,an over 70 yard punt return,by a guard, that set up the winning touchdown for the Patriots... note:a little known fact:if the Packers had beaten the Patriots, that night, they would have lost the strength tiebreaker advantage that they had over the Giants, and Buccaneers,no matter what they did the rest of the season... they were 8-6 after that night, looking like they were dead to the pundits... in fact, after that game, the pundits were saying that Giants,or Buccaneers had the lock on the sixth playoff seed... what nobody realized at that time was that the Packers only had to win out for the sixth playoff seed that season, because if it went down to the strength of schedule tiebreaker, the Packers had that tiebreaker, but again, nobody realized that... they won the last two games in basic stompings, beating the Giants so bad that the pundits finally realized that the Packers were for real, and then the Packers crushed everybody in the playoffs, and returned an interception for a touchdown in every game, including against the Pittsburgh Steelers,31-25,in Super Bowl XLV... special mention:returning four interceptions for touchdowns, during the NFL playoffs,is a record... the next season, they won 15 games, and were 15-0 in games that they led going into the fourth quarter... a maturation of a starting quarterback...

comment...

the last couple weeks have been a real downer,sports-wise,for me... both teams that i root for are on losing streaks, and i shake my head sadly... this, too, shall pass, but it is a real downer,folks... i just need to laugh... Ha,Ha!!!!!!!! (laughing)...

an anniversary to remember!!!!!!!

let me take you back to November 12,1979: back then,i was running about 12-15 miles a day on good days, and about 8 miles on a bad day,so i,on that day,ran the 1979 Mayor's Cup Marathon(no longer a race),in San Francisco:a marathon from San Francisco to Larkspur,California... i ran over the Golden Gate Bridge,on a bright sunny day... i was eight minutes late for the start, because my mother got lost... i ran the fastest ten miles that i have ever run:56 minutes, six seconds(official time:1:04)... i never stopped that day,and finished in 5:35,and was not last, but close... my mother again got lost, and missed me finishing the race, and showed up about three minutes after i finished the race... i even said that i would never run another marathon, because i was dog tired, and was hurting, but again,i lied(laughing)... what a day!!!!!!!!!!!

Packers' game score,and comments...

Eagles 27,Packers 13... when you have a receiver step out of bounds,as he catches a touchdown pass,in the first half, and you have another receiver drop a controversial touchdown pass,as he goes to the ground,in the fourth period, and your defense collapses, when you need a stop late in fourth quarter, you lose quite badly...

beatdown of the week...

St. Louis Rams 38,Indianapolis Colts 8... total malfunction of Colts' offense, and a stomp of Colts,in Indianapolis...

commentary...

so far,i could get very angry with the Packers' overall play, but, honestly,i am shaking my head sadly, because the Packers' defense have allowed touchdowns on two very odd,and weird plays:a 55 yard touchdown that was tipped by two Packers' defenders that were going for the interception, and ball lands in the Eagles' receiver's hands as he waltzed into the end zone... the other touchdown was a 45 yard touchdown that Packers' defenders lost in the sun,and made a lame attempt at defense... so far,the Packers' offense have been productive between the 20 yard lines, but getting touchdowns have been very anemic... quarterback Seneca Wallace went down with a groin injury(on the first drive of day, like Aaron Rodgers, last week),so third string quarterback Scott Zolkien is in for the Packers... help wanted!!!!!!!!! even the referees are having a tough day,but i can not blame the refs,at all... finally, they score a touchdown... still hope??? will give you score at end of game... everybody is off today, including kicker Mason Crosby, who has missed two field goals already, this afternoon... overall, you can not honestly blame the Packers' defense, except for those two weird plays... unfortunately, they both went for Eagles' touchdowns... Oy vey!!!!!!!

Eagles/Packers notes...

i have to apologize to you,folks... this week on this blog has been very little material on tomorrow's game against the Philadelphia Eagles... i have been trying to figure out how the Packers will beat the Eagles without quarterback Aaron Rodgers... it will not be easy, but backup quarterback Seneca Wallace has been a starter with Seattle, and Cleveland... no disrespect to the Seahawks,or the Browns, but the Packers definitely have more overall talent than those two teams at the time that Wallace started for them,period... the key to beating the Eagles is to contain wide receiver DeSean Jackson, and running back LeSean McCoy,who are two of the best players on offense,in the NFL... put pressure on quarterback Nick Foles to make mistakes/turnovers,and shorten the field for the Packers' offense,as they should struggle somewhat, until Wallace gets into rhythm,offensively... it will be an interesting game to watch,Sunday...

Friday, November 8, 2013

Eagles/Packers matchup...

the Philadelphia Eagles are the Packers' next opponent,Sunday... no disrespect, but the Eagles have shown signs of being quite potent, but honestly, they also have been very inconsistent in scoring points... for example, they lose to Denver,52-20,early in the season, with losses to Dallas,17-3,and to the New York Giants 15-7,in consecutive weeks, then blow away the Oakland Raiders,49-20,in a game that quarterback Nick Foles threw seven touchdown passes against a cheese riddled defense, last week... the Eagles are a team that is simply inconsistent on team offense, and they have a defense that can be good, but also can be had at times... the Packers running game is second in NFL,in yards/per game, and until last week both the offense, and defense were very good, but the defense against the Bears stunk(they could not get off the field on third down, especially late in the fourth quarter)... this will be an interesting game to watch,Sunday:can the Packers' defense stop the Eagles',at times, potent offense, and can the Packers offense score enough points to win game, and can defense help by pressuring the Eagles into turnovers, which is one of the Packers' weaknesses(the defense has only seven turnovers all season)???

Thursday, November 7, 2013

Packers' news...

Packers' defensive ends Clay Matthews(broken thumb),and Nick Perry(broken foot)are expected to play Sunday, against the Philadelphia Eagles... how much is debatable, but the boost in morale will help... even an one handed Matthews(playing with a club cast)is better than much of the NFL(laughing)...

commentary...

pundits are writing off the Packers, because of the broken clavicle of quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and honestly, that may be true, but the team will fight with everything that they have until Rodgers comes back, and they will make proud the players, coaches, and shareholders in their fight, for the rest of the season... the Packers are not just one person,no matter who,and how talented that person may be,folks... the honest reason that the Bears won last Monday night is multi-layered:their backup quarterback had more practice time(two weeks, with their bye),they played a very good game, and then Rodgers went down in the first six minutes(not even that soon)in the first quarter, leaving the Packers with a backup who had very little preparation for the Bears,period... you have to give the Bears much credit:they took advantage of the Packers' misadventure... even when the pundits may write off the Packers for the playoffs,i know one thing:the Packers will be one team who no one will want to play(Rodgers is coming back... remember that!!!!!!!!!!),if they do make the playoffs, and watch out, next season, they will be a real beast, and will have a chip on their shoulders even next season... if i was the rest of the NFL,i would not want to play the Packers for a while...

Wednesday, November 6, 2013

you get what you deserve...

there is an old saying that,"what comes around, goes around"... well,New Orleans Saints' linebacker Jonathan Vilma, poster boy for the Saints' "bounty" scandal last season, who was on short term injured reserve for a knee operation, came off short term injured reserve;played in Sunday's game against the New York Jets(twelve defensive snaps),and now the Saints has put him on season ending injured reserve, basically ending his season, because of that knee... well,Jonathan, you fought an one year suspension, won your case, via it being overturned on appeal, and then you only play twelve defensive snaps the entire year... Way to go,Jonathan!!!!!!!! what a real piece of work!!!!!!! (laughing all the way to the bank)...

Packers' news...

quarterback Aaron Rodgers is out four to six weeks, with a broken clavicle... he could play Thanksgiving Day,against the Detroit Lions, but who knows???

Tuesday, November 5, 2013

Packers' news...

quarterback Aaron Rodgers confirmed today that he has a fractured collarbone, and said that it is a "significant" injury, and also said that when he returned to the sideline, the reaction of the fans ranks up with the top five "moments" of his career... there is no timetable for his return, but tests will be done this week....

commentary...

this has been a very strange day... as a fan of the Packers, this day really hurts, but as an shareholder/owner of the Packers,i know this happens all the time,so i have to get used to it... quarterback Aaron Rodgers will be back from his injury, and Packers' football will be in six days, against the Philadelphia Eagles,at Lambeau Field... people may count out the Packers for the playoffs, and depending on the severity of Rodgers' injury,i accept it,but i will support my NFL team all the way until the end of this season... to those pundits who say that,i say this, seriously:the Packers, next season, will be a real beast of a team,period... if you think that i am sad, today,i am... however,i am someone who is tough as nails,in many ways, and life goes on,but to tell you the truth,i am proud of being part of the public ownership of the Packers, above all else, and not an injury will EVER change that fact,period... GO PACKERS!!!!!

Monday, November 4, 2013

blog statement...

before i go to bed,i have to say that a game is a game, and the Packers will be fine, but an injury to a Packers' starting quarterback has not happened in a major way, since 1992,when Don Majkowski("the Magic Man")suffered a broken leg, against Cincinnati, and a little known backup named Brett Favre led his first comeback in a 24-23 Packers' win,so i am taken a little aback by tonight... however,i will take a day off tomorrow...

commentary...

as i am a shareholder/owner of the Packers,i can not be any lower than i am,right now,but honestly, tonight makes me realize that the Green and Gold is more than one player, but i own the team,so i need to suck it up,and realize that public ownership is more important than actual winning, because i need and want to support the team... i deeply hope that quarterback Aaron Rodgers is not hurt badly, but if he is,i will still loudly support the team,in his absence... however,to tell you the truth,it will take me a few days to get over this night,if you know what i mean... GO PACKERS!!!!!! right now,i need a lot of grit, and patience,period...

Packers' game score,and comments...

Bears 27,Packers 20... to start off:an injury to Aaron Rodgers on first series of game(left-non throwing-shoulder),and the defense really sucked tonight... i hate to admit this, but after Rodgers went out of game, the Bears took over, and played a good game... to say that,it hurts quite bad... Packers on the ground rushing the football were awesome, but with Seneca Wallace, very few yards in the air,and the Bears ran out the clock, with a nine minute drive in the fourth quarter...

comment...

i am very tired of people who do stupid, and moronic stuff, then apologize, but sound like they are reading the apology like a robot, and expect people to really believe that they are really sorry, when in fact, they are only sorry that they got caught, and they are in trouble,so they act remorseful, but honestly, they just feel sorry for themselves...

Karma bites...

i am catching up on things over the weekend... it angers me no end that a NFL player verbally insults another player,on his own team, and then it gets really nasty between them... Richie Incognito,of the Miami Dolphins is already known as the dirtiest player in the NFL,but he has sunk to an all-time low in behaviour... the Dolphins has suspended him indefinitely, and apparently,he did,and said some things to Jonathan Martin(who left the team after a prank)that were out of line, but Incognito then threatened an ESPN reporter for reporting the out of line stuff... well Richie, karma really bites, and you deserve everything that is coming to you,and if everything is true that you did to Martin, you deserve to be banned from the NFL,for life... Martin deserves sympathy, and you deserve banishment, period,in my opinion...

Packers' news...

Bears/Packers,tonight... game 187 in the oldest rivalry in the NFL,and one of the nastiest,too...

Sunday, November 3, 2013

special historic note...

New England Patriots 55,Pittsburgh Steelers 31... after tying game at twenty four, the Steelers totally collapsed, and in the game, the defense gave up the most offensive yards,to a opponent(610 yards)ever,in their team history,period...

beatdown of the week...

Philadelphia Eagles 49,Oakland Raiders 20... Eagles' quarterback Nick Foles tied NFL record with seven touchdown passes,as Eagles stomped, and crushed the Raiders...

blog statement...

will try to blog tonight on everything,tonight... slight injury to index finger...

Saturday, November 2, 2013

Bears/Packers notes...

the Bears' front four have only three sacks all season(strange, but very true)... the Packers' defense are tied for tenth,in NFL,with twenty three sacks... quarterback Aaron Rodgers is having his best season passing the football, since 2010-2011... the Packers have the third best running attack in the NFL... you have to tighten up your team defense,if you are the Bears, and try to keep the Packers' offense off the field, and then hope that kick returner Devin Hester can bust a kickoff,or punt back for a touchdown, and that is a weakness of the Packers,i have to admit... however, can they do that more than once??? Chicago,it appears, will have their backup quarterback(Josh McCown)starting the game,on Monday, instead of Jay Cutler, but Cutler is getting better(torn groin),and wants to play earlier than scheduled... it will be a typical game of nastiness(war),Monday night, between the teams...

comment...

i normally take off Saturday to prepare for the Sunday slate of games, but later on,i will do some trivia and facts for the Monday Night Football game between the Chicago Bears, and the Packers, throughout the weekend, and early Monday...

Friday, November 1, 2013

injury update,and Packers' news...

braindead me!!!!!!!!!!! Clay Matthews, linebacker of the Packers, will have the pins removed from his broken thumb,on Monday, wear a club cast on his hand, and is not supposed to play against the Bears, but could play, against the Philadelphia Eagles, next week... the Packers-Giants game scheduled for game eleven, has been moved from the Sunday Night Football slot,to an afternoon game,in favor of the Kansas City Chiefs/Denver Broncos game... honestly,no surprise!!!!!!!!

NFL news...

the Jacksonville Jaguars have scored 86 points, and now the NFL has suspended their most explosive wide receiver indefinitely(Justin Blackmon),for violating the NFL drug policy... how are they going to score points, now???

commentary...

this year has gone very fast, and that is a good thing... at least,sometimes... overall,i have had a very good year, but there have been months that were very long and simply miserable... over the past year,i have tried to be consistent in blogging every day, even though some days,i felt like,"oh,no,another day of doing this!!!!!!!!"... i like to be varied even on my hockey blog, which is,sometimes, very very hard to do... so i make commentaries on subjects that interest me even though, they had nothing with the subjects of my blogs, even though i have kept my hockey blog, being hockey related, without mentioning other subjects(almost!!!!!!!!)... i just felt that was just proper... if you read that blog, you know how i honestly feel about NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman... lower than pond scum, and that is being very kind... that reminds me that i do have to update the blog,in some ways!!!!!! that will be done shortly... possibly, this weekend... as a shareholder/owner of the Green Bay Packers,i have a more favorable view of NFL Commissioner Roger Goodelll, but being honest,i have my differences with him,too... however,at least,he did not have a strike,or a lockout that affected NFL games,or had franchises move on his watch... this is very good,period...

comments...

there will be more trivia and analysis of this week's Bears/Packers game, later on in the week... it is BEARS WEEK,as you know... stomp Da Bears!!!!!!!!!!!

a day at Lambeau Field...

it is a cloudy day, with a 90% chance of rain,in Green Bay... they are reseeding the pitch at Lambeau Field... wish i was sitting there at Lambeau Field, dreaming of watching the Packers play there... what a sight, and dream...

Congrats,Boston Red Sox!!!!!!!

Boston Red Sox won their third World Series, since 2004,beating the St. Louis Cardinals,6-1,tonight... it was their first World Series won in front of their own fans, since 1918,when a fellow named George Herman "Babe" Ruth was a member of the team...

greatest wrestling manager of all time...

it must be known that Bobby "The Brain" Heenan was the best manager in pro wrestling history... he was multi-talented,and when he was called,"weasel",it would drive him nuts...... he was an above average wrestler(a good worker,in wrestling terms),before he managed the heels,in the AWA(American Wrestling Association, and the World Wrestling Federation... he managed Rick Rude,Andre the Giant, and Nick Bockwinkel(when he was AWA Champion),among other wrestlers... his banter with Gorilla Monsoon during WWF All-Star Wrestling and WWF Prime Time Wrestling(precursors to Monday Night Raw)is absolutely legendary, and quite hilarious,period... when i see reruns of those programs,on WWE Classics, that banter is what i mostly see,period... when Heenan was inducted into the WWF Hall of Fame, his most poignant comment was,"i wish Gorilla was here",referring to his long, and very close friendship with Monsoon...

strange Packers' trivia...

WKBT,in La Crosse,Wisconsin, reports that a sixth grader,Dave Pehl, has worn an Aaron Rodgers jersey for over 1,000 straight days... his father,David Pehl, mentioned to his son when he gave the jersey to his son,for Christmas, jokingly, that someone wore a jersey for nearly 1,600 days in a row... i guess his son wants to set a new record... the record is 1,561 days,by David Witthoft, who wore a Brett Favre jersey, before he took it off in 2008... what is it about Packers' fans??? unfortunately, for the Pehl family, the rest of the family are Minnesota Vikings' fans...

special note...

note:some Packers' home games were played in Milwaukee,up until 1993,or 1994,so the games won in Milwaukee,by the Packers does equate as wins,at home, but not in Green Bay,properly...

tale of the tape...

since 2006,the Packers are 34-10,against NFC North opponents, and 19-3,at home... both are number two in the NFL,in that span... the Packers have won six straight games, and eight of the last nine games, against the Bears... the Packers have won ten straight NFC North games, ten straight regular season games, and 23 of 24 regular season games,at home(.958)... this is game number 187 between the teams:Bears lead all-time series,92-88-6,including 1-1,in playoffs... the Packers lead series in games won,in Green Bay(32-22-0)... this game is the first game between the teams,on Monday Night Football, since 1997... comment:people in New York must love Chicago:games between the teams have been in Chicago,on Monday Night Football(in 2002*,2003,2008,and 2010) *Champaign,Illinois, when Soldier Field was being renovated... the only game in Lambeau Field was in 2012,on NFL Network's "Thursday Night Football"... the teams have split the last ten games on Monday Night Football, between the teams...

injury update...

according to doctors,Green Bay Packers' tight end Jermichael Finley has no damage to his vertebrae, and has no surgery planned... so it is not if,but when,he will play football,again... that is good news for Finley, but also for the Packers... he has a ten million dollar insurance policy, just in case,if he does not play football, again,so his family is set financially... he may be on injured reserve for the rest of this season... the Packers have not decided on that,yet... i am very very happy for him and for his health...

comments...

the Packers have a "dope sheet" to tell you facts about their upcoming opponent, and this week,it is not up on website-possibly tomorrow... note:the two games against the Chicago Bears,at Lambeau Field, and week seventeen,at Soldier Field... both will be dogfights...

comments...

to me,THIS IS BEARS WEEK!!!!!!! even though quarterback Jay Cutler is supposed to be out at least four weeks with a injury, the Bears are still very dangerous, with running back Matt Forte, kick returner Devin Hester, and defensive back Charles "Peanut" Tillman, and an offense that can light up the scoreboard, with wide receiver Brandon Marshall, and Alshon Jeffery... the Bears are one of the very few teams who have beaten the Packers more often than the Packers have beaten the Bears,so i believe the game could be and should be a real slugfest, and a dogfight... expect it...

Packers' game score,and commentary...

Packers 44,Vikings 31... how dominant were the Packers??? they did not punt once... except for the opening kickoff, and two pass interference penalties on the Packers' defense-both of which were very questionable-the Vikings' offense could not get near the end zone, until it was way too late... bigmouth Greg Jennings had one catch for nine yards,in entire game... the Vikings defense could not stop the Packers' offense-they were successful on third down,or fourth down, fifteen times, against the Vikings' defense... the Packers' defense contained Adrian Peterson for sixty yards, while Eddie Lacy and James Starks rushed for ninety four yards, and fifty seven yards, respectively, for the Packers... Micah Hyde ran a punt back ninety three yards for a touchdown, for the Packers, and quarterback Aaron Rodgers was twenty four for twenty nine passes, for 285 yards, with two touchdown passes, both to wide receiver Jordy Nelson, who had 123 receiving yards, including a 76 yard touchdown pass from Rodgers... Packers are banged up,so i just wonder how they will do,when they are a healthy team??? that is so scary!!!!!!!
