forty six years ago...

today is a personal anniversary of sorts:our family moved to Sacramento,on March 30.1969,forty six years to this day... on that sunny day,so long ago,i remember seeing Sacramento and smiling, not knowing that the next forty six years would bring such triumph, tragedy, and heartbreak... i was nine years old,so i have spent the majority of my life in this city... people that i have known in the last forty six years have grown up,lived, and died... we,and i,as an individual have moved so many times, that i almost can tell you about most streets in this city... i have grown up in a way that is simply unique, and at times, has been very difficult... i have traveled to 28 states(so far),and have always come home,to Sacramento, and complained that i "hated" it.... actually,i do not,but i rather not have so many people in the city... i remember moving out to Orangevale in 1971,and having very few people around "the Big House",and from Main and Central in Orangevale,to basically Sunrise and Greenback, having very few houses, and fields around Orangevale... that was paradise to me... that was my teenaged years, even though, urban creep started before i get out of high school, but honestly, i moved so many times that i knew of other areas like Fair Oaks, and especially,Folsom, but back then you had space to grow up,and things went smoothly until my junior/senior year,in high school when i became severely depressed over something private, and it literally almost killed me... my 20's was spent depressed, and later on,"on the road"(noted earlier,in this blog,on October 2,2013),so i moved away, from Sacramento for a while, but my family moved to Roseville, and then i came back into the fold, about fifteen years ago... my uncle, mother, and dear friends have died since moving to Sacramento, those forty six years ago,so long ago... can not believe that forty six years have passed, since that sunny day,so long ago, when i was smiling, but it has,so a hat tip to all those years,i give...

saw NFL replay of Packers/DA BEARS game(week four):a 38-17 Packers' win... enjoyed it more than actual broadcast, because beating DA BEARS is always enjoyable,no doubt...

commentary...

apparently,Minnesota Vikings' running back Adrian Peterson is very very unhappy with the Vikings, because he believes that he should be paid like a franchise quarterback, and some comments by the Vikings simply made him mad... my opinion:play your contract out,and shut up,Adrian, because you were an idiot in what you did,and no one else is to blame, but yourself... i respect you as a football player, but your mouth, and childish behavior has told me that it is all about you,and not your kids, and family... classic diva...

a day at Lambeau Field...

on a beautiful day,in Green Bay,the pitch inside Lambeau Flield looks like a freshly mowed lawn... they have removed the markings of the football season, even though you can still tell that the markings are still visible, and the turf is a little brown on the fringes, but it still looks very lovely there,today... wish i was there dreaming of the Packers beating DA BEARS like a drum(let's say,a 50-0 drubbing),and i would be smiling throughout the game...

commentary...

this post is my opinion, and nothing else:here is a list of people who have had illnesses, and that people who have brain injuries, and other factors(before i go on,i must say that i really feel sorry for everybody on this list):Muhammad Ali,Steven Hawking,Dave Duerson,Mike Webster,Steve Gleason,Junior Seau,Chris Benoit,President Ronald Reagan, and others who i know,or knew,Walt Lukenda,Darlene McCormick... all those people have,or had, illnesses like M.S.,ALS,CTE,Alzheimers disease,Dementia, and Parkinson's disease,and/or syndrome... people blame contact sports like boxing, hockey, soccer(European Football),pro wrestling, and football,in general... concussions are not a joke, but people forget that illnesses like those listed are in the human race, and scientists have no clue on what causes them... the sports listed here are getting safer,in the way that they go about player safety,in their respective sports, but things like those illnesses still happen,unfortunately... so before you believe that one game, match,or even hitting your head on a rock(i have many concussions myself),causes those illnesses, think about what i am saying:things always happen for a reason, and sometimes simply, life is not fair,period... just think about what i am saying...

Packers' trivia,and commentary...

what current Packers' executive was on the losing end of the highest scoring game(still)in Monday Night Football history??? on October 17,1983,Green Bay Packers beat the Washington Redskins,48-47... that night,a defensive back out of Colgate got scorched by tight end Paul Coffman... his name was Mark Murphy... the same Mark Murphy, who later became Packers' president, and CEO... note:in the year 1983,Murphy had nine interceptions, and the Washington Redskins lost 38-9,to the Los Angeles Raiders,in Super Bowl XVIII...

heaven got another one for the eternal eleven...

Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame member "Concrete" Chuck Bednarik has died at age 89,today...two notes:he laid out(knocked out)Frank Gifford, during a Eagles/Giants game... there is a famous picture of the hit,and that hit hastened Gifford's retirement... second, the real reason that he was called "Concrete" was that during the off-season,he was a concrete salesman... condolences, and prayers to his family...

commentary...

the saga of the Minnesota Vikings and running back Adrian Peterson goes on,and on... he appears to be very unhappy with the Vikings, going back to two facts:lost salary, and the organization badmouthing him throughout the season, and the off-season... the Vikings have said that they will not cut him,but with Peterson, and his agent acting like they do not care a whit about the team, and the state of Minnesota, what can the Vikings do??? PAY HIM!!!!!!!! restructure his contract, and give him some more guaranteed money,or if he balks at that, trade him to another team... however,Minnesota is in a no-win situation, because they have, under contract, the best running back, until 2017,and yet,he is very unhappy with the organization... my opinion:he will be back in Minnesota, because he wants, and needs,to show everyone that he is the still the best, but honestly,he is still a diva, and his attitude really sucks,period... who honestly cares about him??? i do not care a whit,period...

NFL historic trivia...

what was the NFL Championship trophy, before Super Bowl I,called??? answer:Ed Thorp Trophy... it was given to the NFL Champion from 1934-1969.... the last few years,it was given to the NFL champion before the Super Bowl(up to Super Bowl III)... special NFL historic note:the very first NFL Championship trophy, was called the Brunswick-Balke Collender Cup,given to the very first NFL Champions, the Akron Pros,in 1920... it was lost before the 1921 NFL season...

a lovely lady...

this is the type of night that i really miss my dear departed mother... i am listening to some great music on SiriusXM SIRIUSLY* SINATRA,Channel 71... *that is the way they spell seriously on the channel... my mother would love the music, and she would be smiling knowing that i am enjoying the music, and i am definitely doing that... i really miss my dear departed mother so very much... i can just "see" her smiling that beautiful smile of hers at me,,and giving me her best hug,as we listen to great music... here is to a lovely lady... i know that she is right next to me,as i type this...

a true but strange poll,in Wisconsin...

ESPN,and Public Policy Polling(PPP)did a poll in the State of Wisconsin to find out what thing,or person, was the most favorite in the state... Drumroll, please, for the results:1)Cheese,80%,2)Packers' quarterback Aaron Rodgers,79%... WAY TO GO,Cheese!!!!!! you beat Aaron!!!!!!!

this time,in the NFL year really sucks, because unless you are a nerd or a geek for football.you really have nothing to say... even though i love NFL football, and the Packers, how many times can i comment on how beautiful Lambeau Field looks??? it always looks beautiful,by the way,but you get my point...

stuff from Green Bay...

i bought four Packers' hats,including a very cool shareholder/owner's hat,two lanyard key chains,and a hoodie,from Green Bay,today... i had it(the package)sent overnight,via UPS... it arrived about fifteen minutes ago... GO PACK GO!!!!!!!

blog statement...

i am waiting for a UPS package from Green Bay(YAY!!!!!),and so it will be "Idaho Spud" time,today...

NFL news...

second year linebacker Chris Borland has retired from the NFL,and the San Francisco 49ers,because of concussion concerns... i wish him good luck in his life... note:what now are the 49ers going to do with their linebacking corps???

NFL free agency news...

Cleveland Browns signed Tramon Williams to a three year,$21 million contract... note:i guess that i will wear my third jersey, because of the Packers(the team),now that Williams has signed with another team... good luck Tramon, thank you for your time with the Packers!!!!!!!

commentary...

DA BEARS' offensive lineman Matt Slauson now says that DA BEARS' quarterback Jay Cutler can be "a Tom Brady,a Peyton Manning,an Aaron Rodgers,he can be them,if not more"(exact quote)... note to Slauson:what are you smoking??? DA BEARS say they are not GOING to turn the football over by running the football more... note to DA BEARS' coaches:how are you going to score 30+ points, when(Packers' quarterback)Aaron Rodgers,(Detroit Lions' quarterback)Matthew Stafford, and now (Minnesota Vikings' quarterback)Teddy Bridgewater(who will have Adrian Peterson in the backfield)throwing in some 30+ points,in games against DA BEARS??? running the football more will not answer that question... by the way,how do you fix that (right now)putrid team defense that really sucked last season??? note to DA BEARS' head coach John Fox:you were good in Carolina, and Denver... in Carolina(an expansion team,at the time),you had a great defense, and in Denver, you had Peyton Manning, but in Chicago, you have Jay "turn that football over" Cutler, and a team defense that really sucked last season... when under pressure,Cutler tries to make a big play, gets rattled, and pissed, and throws interceptions.... Coach Fox,that is what he does, has done that his entire career, and,my opinion, that is not going to change,no matter who you have on team offense... Cutler may be ultra-talented,but get him rattled, and pissed,he overthrows his passes, and makes mistakes, and that is very simple to say... his career points that out to everybody, but to his coaches, who think that they can turn Cutler into Aaron Rodgers, and limiting his turnovers... (laughing)... welcome to the NFC North,Coach Fox!!!!!!!!

commentary...

since free agency is going on,it is not easy to get information quickly, but the Packers' unrestricted free agents, have not done too much,so far, whether it being having people signing contracts,or team visits... so,sorry, but i hate to say,"Idaho Spud" time too many times, but i am just waiting for something to happen, but nothing is happening,at least, right now...

Karma does bite....

in an ironic twist,Minnesota Vikings released wide receiver Greg Jennings,today... less than two years ago,he "loved" Minnesota and berated the Green Bay Packers' fans for it(the town)being too cold, and apparently did not like the cold weather, and basically belittled the fans,in saying that he loved living in Minnesota, and was smiling about how he was treated by the Vikings' ownership and fans, when he signed his contract... Greg,Karma does bite, doesn't it??? right,Greg...

blog statement...

day off... nothing going on in the NFL,except free agent signings, and i will note the important signings, later on,probably tonight, but right now,i am taking it easy today... "Idaho Spud" time...

free agency news...

numbers for DeMarco Murray:five years,$42 million($21 million,guaranteed)...

NFL free agency news...

DeMarco Murray will sign a five year $40 plus million contract, today, with the Philadelphia Eagles... he is in the building, with his agent, and his fiancee...

Wednesday, March 11, 2015

NFL free agency news,and comments...

Ndamukong Suh signed a six year,$114 million contract, with the Miami Dolphins($60 million guaranteed)... my opinion:great player, but still "Mr. Suspension,or Mr. Fine",because i simply do not like him... the simple reason:stepping on then-Packers' center/guard Evan-Dietrich Smith,in 2011,and then stepping on quarterback Aaron Rodgers, last season, and his attitude towards "his fans",and his arrogance, and in not caring about the players' health, who he stepped on... hope he has fun in Miami... note:to the Patriots,Jets, and Bills(his division foes),better get insurance on players, especially quarterbacks... to Tom Brady,WATCH OUT!!!!!!!

Tuesday, March 10, 2015

free agency news...

Darelle Revis re-signed with the Jets with a five year,$70 million contract, with $39 million,guaranteed... reports indicate that Ndamukong Suh will, most likely, sign with the Miami Dolphins,in the morning... i will note figures tomorrow... Jimmy Graham was traded from the New Orleans Saints, along with a fourth round pick,in the 2015 NFL Draft,to the Seattle Seahawks for Max Unger, and a first round pick,in 2015 NFL Draft...

a heartfelt thanks and total class...

Davon House got signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars to a four year contract... however, the way that he said,"goodbye",to the Packers' fans was total class... his Instagram account was a great tribute to the Packers' defensive backfield(a picture of them all),and a heartfelt message of thanks to the fans... he is the type of NFL player who deserves respect, and i will lightly boo him(ha ha),and yet heartily clap for him when he plays for the Jags, against the Packers the first time he plays against the team... the Jags do not play the Packers this season,so i hope he rips up the Jags' opponents, and show off his immense talent... to Davon,i say:thank you very much for four great years, and i give you a respectful hat tip...

commentary...

the San Francisco 49ers have gone from a Super Bowl contender,to losing their 2014 head coach, offensive coordinator, and defensive coordinator... now, linebacker Patrick Willis has retired, after eight seasons, and starting running back Frank Gore,is headed to Indianapolis, and reports indicate that linebacker Justin Smith,is also retiring after fourteen seasons... the Arizona Cardinals, and Seattle Seahawks will fight for the NFC West crown, and the St. Louis Rams, and 49ers will fight for the cellar... general manager Trent Baalke, and owner Jed York are the worst executives in the NFL... reminds me of the NHL's San Jose Sharks, and the fans will not be happy... they have a new stadium, and the 49ers have a team that may suck this year... WAY TO GO,Trent, and Jed,for ruining one of the most storied franchises,in NFL history...

a day at Lambeau Field...

a great and beautiful day in Green Bay... the markings from the NFC Championship game are still on the pitch, mostly because of the snow in the winter... still would be a real dream to watch the Packers beat("bury")DA BEARS,in the Frozen Tundra... gorgeous day in Wisconsin!!!!!!!! GO PACK GO!!!!!!

Packers' news...

NFL Network reports that Packers and tackle Bryan Bulaga are close on a five year deal, worth just under $7 million/per year... final numbers will be posted...

quote of off-season...

"I WANT TO WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS"-Randall Cobb,on reason that he re-signed with the Packers, leaving more money on table, with other teams...

blog statement...

taking it easy today... will note player free agent signings for the NFC North, and the major signings across the NFL,but basically "Idaho Spud" time,today... this week,so far,has been tiring... note:report says that the Packers are working on a deal for their free agent Bryan Bulaga... but time is running... NFL league year 2015-2016 starts at 4 pm,east coast time, and free agency starts at 4 pm east coast time...

Monday, March 9, 2015

NFL football news...

NFL free agency starts Tuesday,March 10th,at 4 pm east coast time... will note any important player movement that is pertinent to the NFC North division, and to the Packers, along with important player movement in the NFL(i.e. DeMarco Murray)...

Saturday, March 7, 2015

Breaking Packers' news...

Packers re-sign wide receiver Randall Cobb to a four year $40 million contract, with $17 million guaranteed...

some great jazz music(Miles Davis)YAY!!!!!!!!!!

strangely,i have not listened to Miles Davis recently... really too bad, because this day is very very somber in being melancholy... so i just put on some great Miles Davis jazz, and i am just relaxing listening to classic Miles, and there is nothing better,period...  Bags Groove,Water Babies,Davis at the 1963 Monterey Jazz Festival, and an All Star group of musicians with Davis, entitled,"Walkin'" are the selections,today... i have over 98% of what Miles Davis recorded except his trumpet boxed Sony Records' collection, which is very rare to find, except on his authorized website... i intend to get that shortly, maybe this month,or early next month... sorry folks,it is time to get into Miles,today...

commentary...

i have been a Packers' shareholder/owner for just over three years, and i simply can not be prouder of being one, because i am a NFL OWNER,and people honestly may snicker at what i wear... to those people,i say:i really do not care what those people do,because i know that in my heart that if they were fans, they would love to be shareholders/owners of the Green Bay Packers... the stock certificate that i have may be worth three cents(by the bylaws of the Packers,if i do anything disgraceful, the Packers have the option,to revoke my ownership, and in doing so,they would send me a check for three cents),but i am a very proud shareholder/owner,of the Green Bay Packers, and to tell you the absolute truth,my opinion of the team really did change the moment i received the stock certificate, because i honestly think that being part of the public ownership of the Packers is a real privilege, and a great honor... i watch the game differently,as a shareholder/owner,than when i was just a fan... only one thing matters to me:winning the Lombardi Trophy, and if you are part of the public ownership of the Packers, that is what should matter... win the NFC North, beat the Minnesota Vikings,Detroit Lions, and, especially,DA BEARS(Chicago, for those people who have to have a city in front of the team),and "bury" them, get into the NFL playoffs, and see what happens... to the Vikings,Lions, and DA BEARS,i want to "bury" you every time we play you... i do know that it is not possible, but trying to be a true shareholder/owner,like i am,i want every division win,period... so next season, being NFC North Champions for the fifth straight season is the first goal, get into the NFL playoffs is the second goal, and go for the Lombardi Trophy, and that is the ultimate goal,period,folks... like Gordon Gekko famously said,in the movie "Wall Street","Greed is good"... folks,i am very greedy for a Super Bowl ring...

Thursday, March 5, 2015

commentary...

Packers' quarterback Aaron Rodgers famously said to fans,"RELAX",during the season(after the third game of the season),and the Packers won eleven of their last thirteen games... so for the fans, and shareholders/owners of the Packers who are freaking out about what the Packers are doing in re-signing their free agents, notably Bryan Bulaga, and Randall Cobb... i note that the Packers have lost Donald Driver,James Jones, and Greg Jennings,to retirement(Driver),and to free agency(Jones, and Jennings),in last five years, and let me remind you that the Packers have won four straight NFC North division titles, and this season led the NFL in scoring, and points/per game,at 30.4 points/per game... i trust the Packers' front office, especially general manager Ted Thompson, and head coach Mike McCarthy,in finding people to supplement the team, throughout the off-season... so,RELAX,folks...

Wednesday, March 4, 2015

Packers' news...

it appears that Randall Cobb does not want somewhere between $8 and $9 million/per year, for five years, from the Packers... his agent rejected that offer,today...

Tuesday, March 3, 2015

Packers' news,and comments...

before you get upset, folks, the Packers still have a week to sign Randall Cobb, and the other Packers' free agents, before they can talk to other teams...

Monday, March 2, 2015

Packers' news...

the Packers did not use their franchise tag... they do want to sign Randall Cobb, but not at the $12 million plus franchise tag tender...

NFL news...

the franchise tag is supposed to be final for all 32 NFL teams(at 4 pm.,east coast time),so i will note who gets tagged for the Packers, later on,but the Detroit Lions did not franchise tag Ndamukong Suh,so that is a surprise, but honestly, not too much of a surprise...

strange memories from 2008...

strangely,i am watching WWE Network, tonight, and they are showing a Wrestlemania that i have only vague memories(Wrestlemania XXIV)... the reason:it was the last pay per view(PPV),before i moved back to Sacramento, from Cayucos, and it was only weeks after my dear departed mother died,in Cayucos,so i was basically mentally numb from her untimely death, and even though i have seen parts of that Wrestlemania,on tape, until now, this very day,i have only seen the show,in its entirety,on March 30,2008(the day of Wrestlemania XXIV),so honestly, this is feeling very odd to me,because honestly,i do not remember much from early 2008... i guess that is still too painful for me to remember,folks... for the first time in a long time,at least,i am not in tears, but i still miss her deeply...
