a quick tutorial on the Minnesota Vikings...

the Minnesota Vikings are an enigma this season... they are 2-2,just like the Packers, with wins, against the St. Louis Rams,in week one,and the Atlanta Falcons, last Sunday... offensively, impressive, but the Rams were on their third string quarterback(Austin Davis)... however, the win against the Falcons was very impressive, and even though quarterback Teddy Bridgewater had his first NFL start, and limped off the field, with a high ankle sprain, expect him to start Thursday night, from all indications from Minnesota are to be believed... defensively, they have a very good team, even though they lost Jared Allen to the Chicago Bears, via free agency... why they are an enigma is that they lost running back Adrian Peterson, who averaged over 100 yards/a game,in his career, against the Packers, including just over 500 yards,in three games(including a playoff game),in 2012,to the exempt/commissioner's permission list, but Matt Asiata has done a very good job replacing him,but how do you replace a certain Hall of Fame caliber running back??? note:wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson had a 109 yard kickoff return against the Packers,on October 27,2013,so he is a threat to do a lot of things... also do not forget wide receiver Greg Jennings, who played in Green Bay,from 2006,to 2012... he will be psyched to play at Lambeau Field... more later...

correction...

sorry,folks... i goofed on the score of the Vikings/Falcons game... i corrected the score on previous post... it was 41-28,Vikings,because they had a late field goal...

NFC North division score...

Minnesota Vikings 41,Atlanta Falcons 28...

NFL historic trivia...

Has there been a NFL game where both teams never punted? answer:in fact,twice:first time:September 13,1992,Buffalo Bills 34,San Francisco 49ers 31,in Buffalo,and today(September 28,2014):Green Bay Packers 38,Chicago Bears 14,in Chicago...

a deep tribute to a great baseball player...

today is Yankees' shortstop Derek Jeter's final game,in his 20 year career... he singled in his final at bat,in Boston, for a RBI(number 1,311,on 3,465 hits)... the crowd in Boston gave him a standing ovation, and chanted his name,as he walked off the field... he won five World Series, with the Yankees... a great player, and a very deep hat tip to him... see you,in Cooperstown,Derek...

beatdown of the week...

New York Giants 45,Washington Redskins 14... Giants stomp Redskins,on Thursday night,as Redskins' quarterback Kurt Cousins threw four interceptions, and the Redskins imploded...

comeback of the week...

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 27,Pittsburgh Steelers 24... a short punt led to a last minute touchdown pass from quarterback Mike Glennon,to wide recover Vincent Jackson,as the Buccaneers stun the Steelers...

NFC North Division game score...

Detroit Lions 24,New York Jets 17... Minnesota Vikings face the Atlanta Falcons,in the afternoon... more later...

Packers' game score...

Packers 38,Bears 17... with all the rushing yards, and yards, overall,in the first half, the Bears did not score in the second half,as the Packers' defense picked off quarterback Jay Cutler twice, and the Bears pulled many starters on final drive, and the Packers' offense finally woke up,with Jordy Nelson, and Randall Cobb catching two touchdown passes apiece,as quarterback Aaron Rodgers had his usual very good day, against the Bears(22 of 28 for 302 yards and four touchdowns),as the Packers crushed the Bears... DA BEARS SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!

blog statement...

i normally write updates,as games go on,but because of low batteries,in mouse(forgot to pick them up... DRAT...),i will write everything out after the afternoon games... sorry,folks...

USC Trojans game score...

USC Trojans 35,Oregon State Beavers 10... Oregon State has not beaten USC,at USC,since September 16,1960(a 14-0 win,for the Beavers)... can i say more??? a 48 yard "Hail Mary" touchdown pass actually as time ran out,at halftime, gave the Trojans the momentum, and a 21-10 lead,to roll over the Beavers,in the second half... FIGHT ON!!!

Packers/Bears game notes...

the last time that the Packers had the edge in wins in the all-time series, against the Chicago Bears, was when they were 11-10-5,in the year 1932... believe it or not... the all-time record is(including playoffs)93-89-6,in favor of the Bears... Packers have won nine of the last eleven games,in the series... Aaron Rodgers,as quarterback,is 10-3,against the Bears, including a 27-20 loss, last season,in which he broke his clavicle,on the first series of the game... the last game between the teams was a stunner for the Bears;they lost 33-28,in Chicago,on the memorable "4th and 8",48 yard touchdown pass from Aaron Rodgers to Randall Cobb,to give the Packers the NFC North Division crown for the third straight season... honestly, what a bitter pill for the Bears to swallow... who honestly cares... i loved it... honestly,it is next year, and even a great memory does not matter, and Sunday that what counts... i hate to say this:the Bears are playing better as a team, but these two teams truly hate each other, and this rivalry is like no other... you can talk of recent rivalries, like the Baltimore Ravens, against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and nasty it is,no doubt, but this is a rivalry that goes back to 1921,and even though both teams may have records that are not flattering(3-13,for example),at times... i honestly believe that they would not care about any other games, but if they could beat each other every year, the teams would be happy with beating each other up in a back alley, because they really do not like each other... 93 years of team hatred, but respect, will do that...

comments...

sorry, folks, the batteries on my mouse are low,so,i will get some new ones, tomorrow morning, and finish my preview of Packers/Bears game number 191,including two playoff games... more later...

Packers' history,and commentary...

i told my dad what i would do to a Chicago Bears' jersey,if i received it... let me just say that it would not be pretty, because i am a shareholder/owner of the Packers, and i take the rivalries very seriously, especially the Bears... people may think that i am being funny when i say that "DA BEARS SUCK",but when a fan in 1936 comes out of the stands mad about a penalty nullifying a Packers' touchdown, with the Packers down,30-3,and went after the head linesman, and punched a Bears' player, and was escorted to the sideline,unrepentant*... in the 1945 season opener,Lee Artoe,of the Bears, punched Packers' player Larry Craig in the face... about a month later, back Ken Keuper hit an unsuspecting Artoe, with a stiff forearm, breaking his nose, and both his upper and lower jaw, losing eleven teeth,in the process... Artoe's response, fifty two years later,"oh boy,i can still feel it"... now,for a funny story, the very first game between the Packers, and the Bears(then the Staleys, named for a car,of all things),on November 27,1921,was that fans, and a marching band,of the Packers marched down Michigan Avenue, going in and out of hotels raising a non-stop ruckus, before the game... so i would believe that my "hatred",but respect,of the Bears is very mild... *note:i know the names of the people, but i will not name them, because of length of blog... oh well, why not??? the fan's name was Emmet Platten(6'4,222 pounds)... he went after linesman Gunner Elliott, and instead hit Ted Rosequist a 6'4",230 pound tackle... Bears' head coach George Halas said after the game,"can't they do something about him???"... Platten wrote an eight paragraph letter days later,to the Green Bay Press-Gazette,justifying his actions... what a rivalry...

will do the Packers/Bears preview of Sunday's game, tonight, most likely...

comment...

DA BEARS SUCK!!!!!!!! just had to say that today,folks...

commentary...

both my parents were born in the 1930's(father just turned 80 years of age-still healthy as can be),and mother was born,in 1938... i have a satellite radio,so i listen to all kinds of music, from 1920's jazz and blues, big band music, classical music, show tunes, classic rock, and country music that people really do not listen to very often anymore... i have to give my dear departed mother much credit in giving a well-rounded music education, and a pure love for all kinds of music... right now,i am listening to big band music, which honestly makes me think of my lovely mother, who would play the piano above my head at certain times of the night... very funny and odd thing was that i had to sit on my toilet to really enjoy her playing of her grand piano, because the acoustics of the bathroom was just superb... i was a mama's boy,i have to admit, because i really enjoyed her company, and i miss her presence every day... here is to both my parents... they were nowhere perfect, but i was taught a great deal, and they did the best that they could do,for all us kids... may they know that i honestly could never be the man that i am,without their love and support, and even though my mother has passed away, and my father is still around,i honestly remember those sweet and dear life lessons that they both taught me,and i still do something every day taught to me by my sweet dear mother... my mother was a great writer, and i guess that i love to write, and i give all the credit to my mother... to two sweet dear people,i could never give as much love as they gave me... to all my family,i give all my love, and heart to them all... every one of them has taught me a great deal, and i love them all,period... now bedtime, and snoozeville...

Packers' opponents,and notes...

i will talk about the Packers/Bears game,tomorrow... note:the Minnesota Vikings, the Packers' opponent,on Thursday,October 2nd,has named rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater their starting quarterback for rest of the season, because of Matt Cassel's broken foot, and they put Cassel on injured/reserve,today...

commentary...

i respect,no end,but do not like the Chicago Bears at all... this week is "BEARS WEEK"... to me,i will be a little more nasty,in my demeanor towards this blog... i will not apologize for that,at all... i want to have the Packers "bury" the "DA BEARS",in a mass of Green and Gold,in the turf of Soldier Field... i would love to see an embarrassing rout,in favor of the Packers(fingers crossed,laughing)... they also play in week ten(November 9th),so expect basically the same thing the days before that game,too... i will not apologize for that,at all,period... "DA BEARS SUCK"....

commentary...

the 49ers have lost two straight games, and in spectacular fashion... Anquan Boldin blames the officials in both games... BULL!!!!!!!!! for a guy,who head butted another team's player, for 15 yards, and a personal foul, way to go,Anquan!!!!!!!! you have nothing to yell about... the 49ers have sucked,as a team,in the third, and especially the fourth quarter,it is time to look into the collective mirror, and blame nobody, but yourselves,period... Anquan, you are one of the best receivers in the NFL,but your mouth is low grade crud,as of right now... to the entire 49ers' team, stop blaming officials, look into your own eyes,as a team, and just shut up...

blog statement...

i am taking today,off... i know it is "BEARS WEEK",for the Packers... they better get their collective heads out of the sand... note:a old wives' tale says the ostrich buries their heads into the sand, when frightened, when in fact, they actually lower their heads next to the sand, not into the sand, when frightened... i will be back tomorrow... "DA BEARS SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!"...

comments...

this week is "BEARS' WEEK"... folks, you may hear me say, type, and blog two simple words all week,"DA BEARS" SUCK... i have a nasty edge when it comes to "DA BEARS",and secondly after this week's Lions' game,i may be very extra nasty.... i will not apologize for that,period...

commentary...

sorry,folks... i have not been in a good mood today, since the Packers' loss, not so much that they lost, but it was the way that they lost,today... the Packers have had one of best scoring offenses in the NFL,over the past three or four years, however the Packers have not played Packers' football, except the second half of the Jets' game,at all... they seem distracted and tend to believe their own hype,so they may believe that they can turn it on,at will, but folks, they have not scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter, all season, and the defense has played very well, most of the season, and even though the Packers lost 19-7,today,the Packers' defense gave the offense three more possessions, via turnovers, and still the Packers' offense, and offensive line gave up a safety, and did very little,in the second half,in terms of offensive production(no points),and i can not understand the total lack of passion, and fire,in the offensive team's belly, and this upcoming week's opponent(Chicago Bears)will not care a whit about what is wrong with the Packers,at all... they are "DA BEARS",no matter what record they may have... they do not like the Packers, and the Packers do not like the Bears... this week is "BEARS' WEEK",so you better get your collective heads out of the sand, and stop thinking that,"you are all that",because right now,you have stunk up the games that you played,so far, this season... even the game that you won was not a total team effort for sixty minutes... THIS IS "BEARS' WEEK"... remember that...

comments...

to tell you how pathetic the Packers have been on offense,so far, this season, they have had only two touchdowns in the second half, both in the third quarter, against the New York Jets, and have not had a touchdown,in the fourth quarter, this season... that is absolutely pathetic,period...

comeback of the week...

Dallas Cowboys 34,St. Louis Rams 31... it was the biggest comeback in Dallas Cowboys' team history... down 0-21,Tony Romo brought the Cowboys all the way back, for the win... a late Cowboys interception sealed the deal....

Packers' game score,and comments...

Lions 19,Packers 7... what high powered offense!!!!!!!!!! Packers' defense can not stop the Lions on 3rd down,in second half... after tying game,at seven, the Packers' offense went absolutely dormant, and the Lions,i really hate to admit, dominated the second half,on defense, and offense...  Lions are six for six on third down,as i type this... basically, the Packers have really sucked... the defense showed up,and played well(three turnovers),but the offense never showed up in the game... what a snoozefest...

a story of friendship...

now for a positive NFL story:Annie Bartosz is trying to raise funds to fight pediatric cancer by wearing gold in September... she lost a brother,Jack, who became friends with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, before he died,in 2012... well,Aaron Rodgers showed up at the door, wearing a gold shirt, and there is video of Rodgers taking pictures with some boys in the neighborhood... very nice story...

Packers' score,in progress...

Lions 12,Packers 7,halftime... weird game in Detroit... Packers fumbled on first drive, and the Lions ran it back for a touchdown, and later on,stuff the Packers for a safety... Packers intercepted quarterback Matthew Stafford, twice, once on the Packers' one, which led to the Lions' safety... Packers' quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw a touchdown pass to tight end Andrew Quarless, and the Lions are one for two,in field goals... Packers receive second half kickoff...

RIP Rob Bironas...

former Tennessee Titans' kicker Rob Bironas died in an one car accident... condolences to his family... prayers are going out to them...

comments...

most likely, there will not a beatdown of the week,today... for the first time,i picked the Thursday night game between the Atlanta Falcons, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers... the Falcons stomped the Buccaneers,56-14,in which the Falcons were up,56-0,after three periods...

NFC North division games...

Chicago Bears play the New York Jets,Monday night... Minnesota Vikings play the New Orleans Saints,today... Packers play the Detroit Lions,today...

NFL news...

because of the new NFL drug policy,Cleveland Browns' wide receiver Josh Gordon will be suspended only ten games, not the whole year...

Friday, September 19, 2014

Packers/Lions game notes...

Packers are 94-66-7,lifetime,against the Lions;have won fifteen of the last seventeen games, against the Lions;quarterback Aaron Rodgers is 9-1,against the Lions;only loss was a 7-0 loss,in Detroit,in which he suffered a concussion(missed a week, against the New England Patriots),in 2010... his numbers, against Detroit:2,559 passing yards,19 touchdowns,5 interceptions, with a 111.0 passer rating,in those ten games;last time that the Lions played the Packers,in September, was in 2008(Packers won 48-25),and finally,Sunday's game,if the Packers win,it will the Packers' 700th win, joining the Chicago Bears as the only two teams to win that many games,in their team history... in their team history, the Packers are 699-538-37... including two playoff games,it will be game 170,between the teams...

NFL news,and commentary...

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a news conference that the NFL will set up a personal conduct committee, and have a new policy in place by Super Bowl XLIX... many gripers (current and former players),especially Hall of Fame member Troy Aikman, who brought up the Saints' "bounty" scandal from two years ago,in criticizing Goodell,in a tweet still complained about Goodell... to them all,i say,SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!

comments...

will talk about Packers/Lions game, most likely tonight... will have it done by Saturday night...

Packers' schedule...

the next three games for the Packers:at Detroit Lions;at Chicago Bears, and Minnesota Vikings,at Lambeau Field...

comments...

it has a been very long day.... sorry, folks, will talk about the Packers/Lions,sometime,tomorrow...

beatdown of the week...

Atlanta Falcons 56,Tampa Bay 14... when you go down 56-0,after three periods, you deserve the beatdown of the week... you lose your starting quarterback,to a thumb injury, and he left down 35-0... Devin Hester, for the Falcons, set a NFL record with his 20th career kick return for a touchdown, passing Hall of Fame member Deion Sanders, with a 62 yard punt return... he also scored on a 20 yard run... what a rout!!!!!!! note:i still note any game this weekend, for a second beatdown of the week... however,a team basically has to stomp the snot out of their opponent,to beat Tampa Bay,as the beatdown victim of the week...

Packers/Lions trivia...

will talk about Packers/Detroit Lions game, later today... question:what team has the longest streak of games in their rivalry, against the Packers??? answer: if you say that it is the Chicago Bears, you are wrong... folks, because of the 1982 NFL strike, the Bears did not play the Packers(both games were not played),so even though the longest rivalry is with the Bears, the longest continuous rivalry in the NFL,is the Packers and Lions... it goes back to 1930,when the Lions were known as the Portsmouth(Ohio)Spartans... note:when i write down a game,in my notes:i write down the road team first...

memories of people...

sometimes,i love listening to blues music, because my mother taught me to appreciate all genres of music, and i have a satellite radio... today,i listened to some Frank Sinatra, and now some great blues music... so i listen to many types of music... i do not like rap music too much, but will listen to it,if it was the last thing on Earth to listen to... i have some very rare collections of blues, and jazz music that i do not play too often, because some of it is priceless and date back to almost a hundred years ago(1920's or even older)... however, some of my rare recordings are not that old,but are limited in supply, and yet, they are priceless to me... you do not hear much blues music out of my collection, because i am very careful in playing my very, very good collection... i have many artists that i play, including from Jelly Roll Morton,Muddy Waters,John Lee Hooker,Robert Johnson,Son House,Billie Holiday, and too many more to count... i am very somber right now, because i miss a lot of people who have passed away, and every one of those people really had a very big effect on my life, and this is the way i celebrate who they were to me... sometimes, they are missed so much that i just have to cry,and then talk about every one of them,in my own unique way, because every time i listen to music, they all show up and silently jam with me,when my heart gets down to really listen to my music, like i am now doing.... i hear them all whispering in my ear, saying that they all are here when the tears of real joy are really flowing in my heart...to them,i celebrate your memory... to them,i say, here's one for you all... sorry, folks,i am in tears as i am finishing this...

comments...

tomorrow,i will talk about the Packers/Lions game,in Detroit... last game,in Detroit:Lions 40-10,Thanksgiving Day... the worst offensive showing in the NFL,last season... this time,Aaron Rodgers will be under center... more tomorrow...

NFL news...

NFL and the NFLPA agree on a new PED policy, today, including HGH...

commentary...

there is a good possibility that Minnesota Vikings' running back Adrian Peterson will not play the rest of this season, depending on how the Texas district attorney handles the court hearing on October 8th... if this thing goes to court, this may go into early 2015... question:do you think that Peterson regrets doing what did to his child??? he will be paid by the Vikings, even though the team does have the option not to pay him... now for the financial side of the equation,Peterson is due $13 million for 2015,and the Vikings wanted him to be the face of the franchise going into a new stadium, two years down the road... now, that may not happen,at all...

NFL news...

the Minnesota Vikings deactivated, again, running back Adrian Peterson,by putting him on the exempt/commissioner's permission list... he will not play until his court proceedings are over... his first court hearing is October 8th,which means he will miss a few games, including the game, against the Packers,at Lambeau Field,on October 2nd...

Tuesday, September 16, 2014

commentary...

the Minnesota Vikings' ownership, and front office is getting much grief for their reversal on the status of running back Adrian Peterson, who is under indictment for cruelty of a child,in Texas... honestly, they deserve what they get... a sponsor(Radisson Hotels),and a fan blog has dropped them, and shut down permanently,respectively... who honestly cares??? what the NFL does about this is unknown, but there is a possibility that he will be suspended sometime, this season...who honestly cares about that??? my opinion:i do not like the Vikings, because them being a division rival, but they have really pissed me off because of their lax,and stupid, win at all cost attitude, regarding Peterson... as for the pundits, who are trying to crucify Peterson, stop it... i am pissed at the Vikings for their moronic, and idiotic attitude... as for Peterson,my personal respect for him has gone down the proverbial crapper... his talent on the football field, aside,he is getting to the point of lower than pond scum, and the Vikings are even lower than that,period...

Monday, September 15, 2014

with respect...

being a Packers' shareholder/owner,and the fact that i really do have a little edge of nastiness for "DA BEARS"... there are few Bears who i have some respect... Dick Butkis,Gayle Sayers,Brian Urlacher,Walter Payton,to name a few... there is one Bears' player,on the current roster, whom i deeply respected, and that player is Charles "Peanut" Tillman... not a tougher Chicago Bears' player is there... he was a challenge to every quarterback he ever faced, because he was a very good cornerback/safety... i looked forward to his challenge for Aaron Rodgers this year... well,he tore his right triceps,in last night's game, against the San Francisco 49ers,and was placed on injured/reserve earlier this evening... really too bad, because Tillman would have challenged Rodgers this season... to him,i wish a speedy recovery, and if he is healthy, next year, bring it on,"Peanut"... i say it with admiration, and deep respect...

commentary...

does the Minnesota Vikings think that everybody is absolutely stupid, and brain dead,in announcing that running back Adrian Peterson is activated for this week's game against the New Orleans Saints... they deactivated him because of his indictment,in Texas,on the charge of cruelty of a child... three days later, they reinstated him to the main roster, simply because they lost a game on Sunday... the OWNERSHIP,and the front office awkwardly announced that they now wanted to wait for the legal process to play out, hoping that the Texas district attorney gives Peterson a slap on the wrist,so they can win some football games... i may be biased about the Packers being a division rival, but honestly,i am outraged about this hypocrisy more, because the Vikings believe that winning games is more important than showing some guts,in standing up to domestic abuse... my opinion:if anybody believes that the Vikings are correct, they have an very bad agenda that wants the Vikings to win some very stupid football games, above all else... if you disagree with me,i do not care a whit about what you think,period... way to go,Vikings... you are bunch of gutless divas,period...

correction...

i normally correct the previous post when making a mistake, but it would be more difficult to correct it,and basically i would have to delete the post,so i will leave it as is... oops, folks,i made a mistake... the interception that Tramon Williams had happened with the Jets,up 21-9,and the Jets driving, and he intercepted the football at the three, and he fell into the end zone,so it appeared that he intercepted it for the touchback, and it led directly to the 97 yard touchdown drive that cut the lead to 21-16,and the drive ended the first half... it was still the major turning point of the game, for sure...

commentary...

the actual turning point in the Jets/Packers game happened in the second quarter... let me set up the action:Jets,up 21-3,and driving deep in Packers' territory... the Packers' defense has not stopped the Jets up to that time,at all... if they score a touchdown, the Packers were toast, and down by twenty five yards,at 28-3,but Jets' quarterback Geno Smith threw a pass that was intercepted by Tramon Williams,in the Packers' end zone, for a touchback, which led to the Packers' comeback, from eighteen points down... shortly after that, the Packers scored two field goals, and a critical touchdown on a 97 yard drive just before halftime to cut the Jets' lead,at halftime,to 21-16,instead of a impossible deficit of possibly twenty five points,to a lead of only five points,at halftime,so at that point, the game was definitely on!!!!!!!

commentary...

the pundits and the fans of the New York Jets are griping about the ill-timed timeout that wiped out a tying touchdown,in the Jets/Packers game... let me set up the action:Packers up 31-24,4th and 4,on the Packers' 36 yard line... Geno Smith appears to throw a beautiful 36 yard touchdown pass,to Jeremy Kerley... unfortunately, offensive coordinator Marty Mornihweg yelled to head coach Rex Ryan to call timeout, and the referee heard him do it,along with a Jets' player who told a referee to call the ill-timed timeout, and the referee called timeout just before the football was snapped,on the play... apparently,Rex Ryan was standing next to a referee and the timeout was called... NFL rules says in its rulebook that only the head coach or a player on the field can call time out,in the game... so it was an illegal timeout, but the referee properly called timeout when he heard people yelled for the timeout, because in that situation, the referee is supposed to have his eyes on the field, and not look around to see who called timeout... a few years ago,a NHL team was told that the League had messed up a call that cost the team a game... the opposing team's head coach the next day told the media, when asked about it,said a shockingly simple one word answer to the media:the answer that he said to the media was,"BUMMER",and he walked away from the podium... while i feel bad for the Jets,i do not feel too bad for the team, because on the next play they got a first down, and they had another 4th and 8 later on in the drive that they did not execute, and then lost the game to the Packers,31-24... however, honestly the Jets had an eighteen point lead early in the second quarter, and they unraveled in many ways, and they lost the game to the Packers, fair and square... to the pundits, and to the Jets' fans,i only have one word to say,"BUMMER"... odd things happen every week and year in sports that seem unfair... so what??? people, that is life... crap happens... it happened to the Packers two years ago,in the "Fail Mary" game, against the Seattle Seahawks... did it not, folks!!!!!!!!!

NFC North Division game score...

Chicago Bears 28,San Francisco 49ers 20...

NFL news...

NFLPA will appeal Ray Rice's indefinite suspension, for him, saying basically that he got punished twice for the same situation that he got suspended for two games earlier this season... funny thing is that he got released by the Baltimore Ravens... where is he going to play??? a real diva, and what a real joke!!!!!!!!

comments...

i normally do not cite the Packers as candidates for beatdown,or,now, comeback of the week, because i do recap every Packers' game, unless unusual things absolutely happen(example:the 55-7 stomping of the Tennessee Titans,in 2011,at Lambeau Field)...

NFC North division games,and comments...

Carolina Panthers 24,Detroit Lions 7;New England Patriots 30,Minnesota Vikings 7... Chicago Bears play the San Francisco 49ers,tonight,on Sunday... no matter what the Bears do tonight, the Packers are tied for first place,in NFC North division...

Packers' game score,and commentary...

Packers 31,Jets 24... at one time in second quarter,Packers were down 21-3,and it was looking pretty grim, but Packers' quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the Packers stormed back,in the second and third periods, with a 97 yard touchdown drive in last two minutes of the first half, and the winning touchdown drive was one play,a 80 yard touchdown pass to Jordy Nelson, from Rodgers... what a play!!!!!! however, like i said earlier,it looked grim, when on the very first play of the game,Aaron Rodgers fumbled the snap and the Jets recovered the football within the Packers' 20 yard line, and for the first twenty two minutes of the game, the Packers' defense could not stop a fly,as the Jets went up 21-3,but they stiffened, and then the Packers finally got their team offense going into high gear, and the Jets unraveled both on offense and defense,as the Packers scored 28 of the last 31 points in the game... Aaron Rodgers became second on the Packers' passing yards list(24,731 yards),passing Bart Starr, and only behind Brett Favre,on the team's all-time list...

comeback of the week...

Cleveland Browns 26,New Orleans Saints 24... great last drive for late field goal for the win,by the Browns... Saints now 0-2...

beatdown of the week...

Washington Redskins 41,Jacksonville Jaguars 10... when you sack Jaguars' quarterback Chad Henne ten times, you deserve the beatdown of the week... special note:Robert Griffith III is injured with a dislocated ankle, and probably could miss significant time, for the Redskins...

Saturday, September 13, 2014

NFL news...

Minnesota Vikings' running back Adrian Peterson will not play tomorrow, against the New England Patriots, because of his indictment in Texas,on child cruelty charges... supposedly,he took a switch to his son's rear end a little too hard...

USC Trojans' game score...

Boston College 37,USC 31... a real bad game for the Trojans, and two plays gave the Eagles momentum to go on and win the game:a 54 yard reverse late in the first half to give the lead to Eagles, and a 66 yard quarterback sprint to ice the game, late in second half, for the Eagles... the Eagles' defense played a great game harassing the Trojans' quarterback throughout the game, and stopping the Trojans' running game, along with the Trojans' defense looking very tired, with very little energy in the second half... the NCAA sanctions made their ugly mark on this game, because the team has very little team depth, especially,on defense... however,i give deep respect for the way that the Eagles won the game... up 17-6,USC then collapsed as a team, for most of the game, but no excuses,Boston College played very well,period...

NFL news...

NFLPA approves a new drug policy, including HGH testing...

a day at Lambeau Field, and comments...

they are putting the final touches on the "Frozen Tundra"... what a gorgeous sight!!!!!!! i know that i say the "Frozen Tundra",but the weather in Green Bay will be in the mid-60's(65),at kickoff, but will be mid-40's (45)by end of game... depending on the wind off the water,of Green Bay,a little chilly!!!!! i would bring a coat...

Jets/Packers game notes...

what team has the best winning percentage against the Packers,in the NFL??? if you would say the New York Jets were the team, you would be shockingly correct... they have played only eleven times in their collective teams' history, the Jets have won eight of the games, including a 38-10 victory,at Lambeau Field,in 2006... however,Aaron Rodgers has a 1-0 record against the Jets,a 9-0 shutout against the Jets,in 2010,in New Jersey, and the only road win, against the Jets... that is the only shutout between the teams,in their rivalry,if you can call it that...  this is the third time that the Jets and Packers have opened the Packers' home season(1973,in Milwaukee, and 2000,in Green Bay,being the other years)... Jets have a better team that people think that they have... should be very interesting...

i will talk about the Jets/Packers game,tomorrow... please forgive me... i am still trying to catch on some blogging...

correction...

the sentencing of Oscar Pistorius is next month, not next week... i feel very, very bad for the family of Reeva Steenkamp... my opinion:justice was not served in this case...

a moronic judge,and no justice...

this is moronic(my opinion)... a South African judge found Oscar Pistorius guilty of culpable manslaughter in the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp... he faces up to fifteen years, but could also get very little time in prison, because of the judge's opinion, and what sentence is handed down next month... my opinion:he got a slap on the wrist because of being famous, and how could he shoot four times into his bathroom, and still get a slap on the wrist??? i feel quite badly for the Steenkamp family, because they feel that no justice was served... a simple question:a invader in the bathroom, and you shoot four times??? i agree with the Steenkamp family...

commentary...

this is the last time that i will mention this:the pundits are looking for someone's blood on the Ray Rice domestic violence scandal...i have heard about it on many channels, and i am sick of it... now,the NFL is a business that has the same problems that everybody has,but the pundits are trying to put a nail into the NFL,by labeling it "a violent non-caring sport"... with a demographic of women growing as fans, the NFL does have a problem, but honestly the world has the same problem... however,to put NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and rake him over the proverbial coals,it makes the NFL look like the Keystone Kops,in dealing with domestic violence, when,in fact, there is blame to go all around in this scandal from the New Jersey law enforcement,Ray Rice, and,of course, the NFL,but come on,folks,do you want to drill the NFL into the ground,by portraying them,as unfeeling, over and over, again??? if you do want that, you are sadistic, and unfeeling, yourself, because the NFL is a business... now, there are two other players under the same microscope,as Rice is right now,but those players are having their due process rights play out before they get their cases decided by the NFL,whether i agree with it,or not, there is a system of discipline put into place by the NFL,good or bad,it was put into motion by the NFL earlier this season... as for the pundits who are looking for Goodell's blood, you are simply bloodthirsty ghouls,so basically,i am very very sick of your ugliness,period... as for Ray Rice, and his wife, simply go away, for at least this season, because both of you are people who are still looking for the limelight,of being relevant, and to you,i say,to me,i say to Ray,and his wife,Janay, who honestly really cares about what you both think??? Ray,you were very stupid, and should be facing jail time, and Janay, you should have testified against him, because he deserved jail time... as for you losing a five year contract, and the money, who honestly cares, about a millionaire losing some money... it happens every day... you have a great house, and if you were smart, you still have a great life, and if you,Ray,are quiet about it,for,at least,a year, you may have a chance to get back into the NFL... however, honestly, you two are personally unlikable, and that to me,means that i do not care a whit, about your stupid feelings, because you two are a couple of divas, and i do not care a whit...

a touching tribute,to a best friend...

a British soldier (Kevin Elliot)going to Afghanistan made a then funny request to his best friend(Barry Delaney),that if he died in Afghanistan,he would wear the ugliest dress that he could find,to his funeral... well, unfortunately, three years go by and Elliot is killed in Afghanistan,so Delaney made his best friend's favorite drink, toasted his fallen hero best friend, and then shows up in a ugly puke green dress, with neon pink knee high socks... what a touching tribute to a best friend!!!!!!! a class act,no doubt...

clarification,and commentary...

i need to clarify something about a friend and me driving down I-5,in Orange County,California... she was pointing out unique buildings that she noticed by the interstate, and as i leaned forward to look at a building, she stunned me with a punch in the face, and what made it funny to me is that she never realized that that she hit me in the face... she went back to driving the car,and i sat there basically stunned more than hurt not saying a word, because i knew that it was a total accident, and i just wanted not to say anything mean to her,so i laughed it off... after about a minute, she looked over, and saw me holding the left side of my face... i then said that she accidentally hit me in the face, and she profusely apologized to me... i got a small bruise under my left eye,and that is all... now,i still laugh about it,because she was non-violent,and would not hurt a fly... she was not perfect, like everybody, but it was one unfortunate accident, but it gave many a laugh to both of us over the years...

a day in Lambeau Field, and commentary...

there is nothing more beautiful than Lambeau Field on a weekday, except on game day(an intimate gathering of 80,750 Packers' fans, and shareholders/owners,some 370,000,or so,of them)... what a gathering on a game day... as a shareholder/owner,i am extremely proud of being of part of Green Bay Packers' team history, not on the field(of course),but my name is on the roll of true fans and shareholders/owners,and that makes me very very proud,indeed... that is why it is a joy to be a Green Bay Packers' shareholder/owner,because no other team has that worldwide fan base, period, especially on game day... talk about "12th man" in Seattle... HAH!!!!!!!! remember Lambeau Field, and every shareholder/owner's little piece of Lambeau Field, every Sunday!!!!!!!!

commentary...

right now,i really miss the ones that have gone to "the Great Beyond",because i absolutely miss their love, understanding, and especially their humor, and their crazy laughs... they will be unnamed, but if you have read this blog at any time, you will realize who they are... people may believe that i am being sad,but honestly me being sad is not what i am,right now, because those sweet dear people were sweet parts of my heart, and sometimes i need to laugh,or cry,and they all were part of my heart, and i just want deeply to hear their voices,and/or their laughter, because they all were very very funny, caring, and loving people... sometimes,i still do some things that remind me of each of those sweet dear people, because every single one of them were sweet dear family to my heart,to my laugh, and to my sense of humor, because i still remember very funny stories about every one of them... here is one of those stories:we were driving down I-5,in Orange County, when she pointed something out to me,and she punched me in the face, flush, and then went back driving, not realizing that she had hit me in the eye... i just held my face,in my left hand until she finally realized that something was wrong, and i did not say a word until she turned her eyes toward me,and realized that she had hit me in the face, and she gave me a black eye... she did say that she was very sorry, and i laughed it off, because i deeply knew that it was a total accident... what a real funny memory,at least,to me!!!!!!

NFC North division score...

Detroit Lions 35,New York Giants 14... simply,Eli Manning played poorly,and the Lions took advantage,of a sub-par passing performance,by Manning...

comments...

like i said earlier,i do not condone the actions of Ray Rice, but the actions of TMZ in releasing the video footage is despicable... the Ravens and NFL had no choice in suspending, and,in the case of the Ravens, releasing him...

Breaking news...

Baltimore Ravens' running back Ray Rice has been indefinitely suspended by the NFL,and released by the Ravens, based on the video evidence found out today...

commentary...

the big issue in the NFL,besides actual football games is the suspension of Baltimore Ravens' running back Ray Rice-two games-for domestic violence... first of all, domestic violence should never be tolerated,period... second of all,NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell got it wrong... it should have been longer, and so the NFL front office changed it to a six game ban,for first offense, and for the second offense, banishment from the NFL... now, some pundits, and former players want the case re-opened against Rice, which is very understandable, and re-imposed to,at least,a six game ban... to the pundits, current players, and former players who want him thrown out of the NFL,first of all,GROW UP... if you were on the "short end of the stick" like Rice appears to be,you would be screaming about privacy, and civil rights, and threatening a massive lawsuit, against Goodell, and the NFL,and you know it... i do agree that Rice's suspension was too lenient, and should be adjusted, but to gripe about throwing him out of the NFL,is very immature, and stupid... i do not condone his actions,at all,but i do accept his apology, but the recent video does not make him look too good, and whoever put it out has an agenda to have the subject embarrass him and the NFL,again... to those scumbags,i say,GO AWAY,and crawl back under the slimy rock that you crawled out from under, why don't you!!!!!!!!

comeback of the week...

Philadelphia Eagles 34,Jacksonville Jaguars 17... down at one time,17-0,the Eagles shut down the Jaguars in the second half, and scored thirty four straight points,in decimating the Jaguars...

NFC North division score...

Buffalo Bills 23,Chicago Bears 20,overtime... Bills upset the much ballyhooed Bears,in Soldier Field,in Chicago...

beatdown of the week...

Minnesota Vikings 34,St. Louis Rams 6... when you start your second string quarterback, and then lose him to a reported thigh injury,at halftime, the Rams never had a chance to win...

notes on the NFC North division games...

the Chicago Bears(against the Buffalo Bills)and the Minnesota Vikings(against the St. Louis Rams) play today, and the Detroit Lions(against the New York Giants)plays in the first game of the Monday Night doubleheader, tomorrow night...

comments...

even though the Packers played Thursday night(quite poorly,i may add),and do not play until next Sunday, against the New York Jets,in Green Bay(home opener),at Lambeau Field,i will note the results from the NFC North division, this weekend, and the usual stuff throughout the day, including Sunday and Monday nights...

Saturday, September 6, 2014

a new post on USC Trojans, this year:Trojans' game score...

USC 13,Stanford 10... the Cardinal basically imploded,on offense, inside the red zone, scoring just once(touchdown),missed two field goals, actually punted, after a bad snap, and fumble recovery, and then was stopped on downs at the Trojans' three yard line... USC played great defense throughout the game,as the Cardinal fumbled the football on their final play of the game, with about fifteen seconds left,in the game... FIGHT ON!!!!!!!!

commentary...

some people are quite upset in the way the Packers played on Thursday... some pundits(Seattle Seahawks' linebacker Michael Bennett)are saying that the Packers' defense were "afraid" to tackle running back Marshawn Lynch, who rushed for 110 yards out of a team high 207 rushing yards... that comment is not worth my retort because the Seahawks won the game quite handily, but bulletin board material is just like the Seahawks and their swagger, which i can not stomach any more...  going for it on fourth and one may show confidence in your team, but honestly it was done simply to wipe the Packers' defense and their collective noses into the pile of manure that was the game that the Packers played, and i am not sparing the Packers' feelings, because they,as a team, played a very poor second half... to Pete Carroll,i simply say, that little play will not be forgotten,as was your reaction to beating the Packers,in the "Fail Mary" game as you danced around with your arms straight up,and then belittled the Packers afterward, not forgotten... the Packers lost that game, but they showed total class, but extreme disappointment in the loss,in 2012...now back to this season, the simple fact that the Packers lost to the Seattle Seahawks does not bother me so much, but it was the way that the Packers lost that bothers me,because there is a big difference in the teams right now... to quote a Packers' blogger, named Vic,there is now fifteen games to define who the Packers are,as a team, and it is time not to let one game define this 2014 NFL season... let the pundits have their say right now,but Packers' fans, and shareholders/owners concentrate on one game at a time, but never forget what happened, and store away what was said by the pundits, and if you get a second chance at the Seahawks, then you remember that you are a better team that you played like that miserable Thursday night,to open the 2014 NFL season, and prove to only yourselves that you can play much better... win or lose,at that point, and i can live with that... a very proud shareholder/owner...

commentary...

the Packers after the first quarter, against the Seahawks, played like they were dead meat... when the punter, kicker, and a running back(Tim Masthay,Mason Crosby, and Eddie Lacy),who did not play in third period, and fourth period, because of a concussion were the best players on the field for the Packers, you get the idea that the Packers played defense like a sieve, and in the second half, the Packers' offense scored six points, had two turnovers(caused nine points to be scored),to break open a game that was not that close to begin with... it will not be a pleasant week in Green Bay,because the Packers got steamrolled in,perhaps, the ugliest game that the Packers have played, since they got beat by the New York Giants,37-20,in the 2011 playoffs, along with the Thanksgiving Day,40-10,stomping,by the Detroit Lions, last season... i put those two games together, because they were similar,in the way that the Packers got stomped,by two very good teams...

Packers' game score...

Seahawks 36,Packers 16... Packers got their hat handed to them,tonight...

game score,in progress...

Seahawks 17,Packers 10,halftime... honestly, the Seahawks are out-playing the Packers, and if the defense will not stop Marshawn Lynch,it is going to be a long night, and a possible shootout for the Packers...

game night,tonight...

Packers at Seattle Seahawks, tonight,to open up the 2014 NFL season... GO PACK GO!!!!!!!! will update game,as it goes on,tonight...

commentary...

the Packers do have a "dope sheet" on the history of the Seahawks-Packers rivalry, but i commented on the last game between the teams,yesterday... so i am taking this day off... i am mentally prepared for the game, tomorrow night, but honestly,i am very tired of hearing of how great the Seahawks are,and all i want to see is tomorrow night's game... Stop hyping the Seahawks and how great that they may be,because it was last season, and they are not the same team that they were last season...

commentary...

two days until the NFL season opener, between the Packers and the Seattle Seahawks,in Seattle... let me get you back to the "Fail Mary" game(week three;2012),in which Seattle won 14-12,the Packers' defense played very well, overall, that night... Seattle's offense was basically not functioning most of the night, until the last two drives of the night, when the replacement referees played the most critical part in the game, when the referees called some phantom penalties on the Packers' defense, including a defensive pass interference call that still bewilders me to this day,in which the Packers' cornerback were called for a penalty, when the coverage on the play appeared near perfect(player basically within the shirt of the offensive player, and no pushing of the offensive player,on a 4th down play)... there are nights that nothing goes right, but Seattle had two scoring plays, and a basic offense that did very little most of the night... remember the halftime score was only 7-0,Seahawks(a great touchdown pass,by Russell Wilson, the difference in the first half),even though quarterback Aaron Rodgers got sacked nine times(one called back by penalty),in the first half, and after the Packers dominated time of possession in the second half, getting twelve points, and then they lost on probably the most controversial play, since the "Tuck Rule" game, between the Oakland Raiders, and the New England Patriots,in 2001... let me remind that the NFL,within hours, signed the regular referees to a new contract, basically ending the NFL referee lockout, because the NFL got toasted by the ending of the game,by the media, and others... honestly, that game has very little to do the 2014 NFL season opener, but i wanted to revisit that game, just to tell you that the game,in two days, will be a very good game,period...

commentary...

first of all,i wish Michael Sam all the luck in getting on a NFL practice squad,or a NFL fifty three player roster... however,i really do have a problem with the pundits who,and one pundit,on NFL AM,did say, today that if Sam did not make a NFL practice squad,or a NFL fifty three player roster in the next couple of weeks then the NFL does have a problem, because Sam deserved a spot on a NFL team's roster,or practice squad, for his play in the preseason... first of all,NO player deserves a NFL roster spot unless he earns a spot,period... Sam did play well in the preseason,no doubt(three sacks, and eleven tackles),but if you listen to other teams, and general managers,in the NFL,Sam is a 4-3 defensive end,not a 3-4 defensive end,is not fast enough for play special teams, and in the words of the NFL,not a good practice player... Sam was basically,a mid round draft pick,in the eyes of NFL scouts, and was drafted in the seventh round by the St. Louis Rams... the Rams had four seventh round draft picks,in the 2014 NFL draft, and none of them made the team... like i said earlier,NO player deserves a roster spot in the NFL unless he earns it,ON THE FIELD,period... i do wish Michael Sam all the best to make a NFL practice squad,or even a fifty three player roster, but he has to earn it,period... to that irrational pundit, who said what he said, that person needs to know NFL football, and not be a blathering idiot, and a moron... sir,you need to grow up,period!!!!!!!!!
