commentary...

this is a subject that the world is talking about:the first openly gay player who has come out... Jason Collins is a free agent NBA journeyman player... my simple opinion:who honestly cares about that, because i root for the team, and it really should not matter one iota that a player is gay, because you support the team, and what the sexuality of a person really should not matter, but simply said, people are people, and i believe that...

NFL news...

the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft is tomorrow(April 25,2013)... the rest of the Draft will be April 26,and 27,2013...

commentary...

honestly, this month has been a real bear... most days have been good, but occasionally i get a situation that just upsets me... yesterday,as i am going to watch my second most favorite sport-hockey-i find out that my cable company had cut off my hockey package, because, they say, that i did not order it,or pay for the package(and i did do both)... that is funny, because how in the world did i watch over ninety days of hockey, and pay an extra amount of money, that month,to pay for the package, and they have no record of the transaction, and i did talk about the package over the last three months, with my cable company, and they verified that i did order it,and pay for it,and when i checked about why they cut off the last week of the package, they gave the lamest excuse of-that i did not order it or pay for it,but yet i watched over ninety days of hockey... what a real crock, and they called me a liar on top of that...

Tuesday, April 23, 2013

blog statement...

i can not wait for the start of the 2013 NFL Draft,in just over two days, because i will be busy on here for the three days,of the Draft... so i am taking a slight break until then...

commentary...

i honestly take my public ownership of the Packers very seriously... i may not be the biggest shareholder, not by far,but ever since my stock ownership(on December 23,2011),i have worn at least one thing of the Packers every day(mostly hats),except for three days... on those days,i honestly did put it away out of respect of a relative, her birthday, and anniversary... i do not have too much Packers' gear, but i do have the top of my computer desk covered in Packers' gear... i do have about twenty Packers' hats, ten more Packers' cold weather caps, two home jerseys,a road jersey, and a third blue and gold 1929 type jersey... when i finally go back to Lambeau Field, for the shareholders meeting,i will probably be in Packer heaven... all i would love to have is a picture just standing on the Frozen Tundra... i would be crying with joy...

a day at Lambeau Field...

i just love looking at Lambeau Field... being the week of the 2013 NFL Draft, they are cutting the grass, and probably seeding the field... it is raining and cloudy, and possible snow tomorrow... stay tuned... i look at the live camera feed, and just smile...

Sunday, April 21, 2013

opinion of mine...

i was just reminded of who,i believe,is the greatest Green Bay Packers' player of all time... people talk about Bart Starr, who won five NFL titles,in the 60's(the only quarterback ever to do that),or Brett Favre who owns virtually every passing record in the NFL,or many players on the defensive side of the football,in the five NFL title run,in the 60's,under legendary head coach Vince Lombardi... all good choices, but one player stands alone... in an eleven year career,he caught 99 touchdown passes,a NFL record that stood for forty four years... his first catch,in his first professional game, was a 80+ yard catch for a touchdown, against the Chicago Bears,in a 7-0 Packers' win... he led the NFL in catches,in eight of his eleven years, still a NFL record... he scored twenty nine points,in thirteen minutes, against the Detroit Lions, still a NFL record(Detroit even tried to double team him during the game;the coach, for Detroit, had only three words for the game,"too much Hutson")... he was a charter member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame(one of seventeen charter members,in 1963)... in my opinion:Don Hutson is the greatest Green Bay Packer who ever played...

NFL news...

Darrelle Revis was traded from the New York Jets to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and then signed to a six year deal, worth $96 million, for the 13th pick,in the the 2013 NFL Draft, and two conditional draft picks,in 2014... there is NO guaranteed money in contract... there is a $3 million roster bonus every year, with a $13 million base salary, and the Buccaneers have a team option to release Revis after every year,if Revis does not play up to his expected level...

a day at Lambeau Field...

it is a partly cloudy day,in Green Bay,and Lambeau Field looks beautiful... the Frozen Tundra awaits, boys!!!!!!!!!

Packers' trivia...

who ran back the only pick-six(interception returned for touchdown)thrown by Aaron Rodgers,in a NFL game,so far??? answer:Tanard Jackson,of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers,in a 38-28 Packers' loss,in 2009... it was for 35 yards,to ice game,for the Buccaneers...

sympathy...

to the people of Boston,i give my deepest sympathy and condolences, especially to the families directly affected,by what happened, and my heart goes out to them... to the families directly affected,my prayers go out to them...

memories,of mine...

i have a story to relate of an event that happened eighteen years ago,today... the night before the event,i was in Carson City,Nevada, actually lost in a cul-de-sac,and i had hurt my legs that day so bad that i could not walk any more,so i actually had someone call the police to help me... so i slept in the lobby of the police station,on a bench, and reading a book... the next morning,i walked into a casino, sat down, and watched CNN's coverage,of the Oklahoma City Bombing, which killed 168 people... politics aside,a great tragedy... amazingly, exactly one year later,i was in Oklahoma City, looking at the bombing site... to this day,it still affects me greatly... over the next three days,i was in a motel,in Stillwater,Oklahoma, and i watched kids playing soccer,as i walked around town, and also spent time traveling around rural Oklahoma, those three days... to this day, except for a bus trip,to Boise City(Cimarron County),from Amarillo,Texas,in 1991,those four days are the only days that i have ever spent in Oklahoma,in my life... just a memory,of a tragic, sad day,and the aftermath of that day that still affects me,to this day...

RIP George Beverly Shea...

Baritone gospel singer, for Reverend Billy Graham, during many of his crusades, for an unbelievable sixty years, one George Beverly Shea died today,at 104... i saw him sing at a crusade,in the early 1980's... great voice!!! condolences to his family...

nice touch for Jack...

Upper Deck, the card company, made up a trading card for seven year old Jack Hoffman, who ran for 69 yards through the spring Nebraska team, during their spring game, for a touchdown... Jack is in his red Nebraska uniform,as he is running... Upper Deck did it to help Hoffman with his battle of cancer,as they say, they are on "Team Jack"...

NFL news...

NFL will release the 2013 NFL schedule,Thursday night...

two real pieces of work...

Seattle Seahawks' head coach Pete Carroll left the University of Southern California before NCAA sanctions hit USC with loss of scholarships, and four years of probation... that is old news,i know, but now Philadelphia Eagles' head coach Chip Kelly, apparently, left the University of Oregon just in time to avoid NCAA sanctions, for admitted rules violations at Oregon... Oregon even tried to self-impose a two year probation on the football program, but it appears that the NCAA will impose sanctions on Oregon... way to get out of town, before the roof caved in on the Ducks,Chip... you got your big paycheck, and the student-athletes,at Oregon will pay BIG TIME,now... Kelly is a real piece of work, just like Carroll is...

note on an injury...

my deep respect, and admiration goes out to Los Angeles Lakers' Kobe Bryant,as he did tear his Achilles tendon in a game, against the Golden State Warriors... even though basketball may not be my favorite sport,on the court,i did admire Bryant, and my prayers go out to him,for a speedy recovery, whether he plays basketball,or not...

NFL news...

possible NFL draft pick Tyrann Mathieu(note:he will be drafted by someone)has put Louisiana State University(LSU),on the proverbial hot seat by someone(an unnamed NFL assistant coach)leaking the alleged fact that he failed ten plus drug tests, before LSU suspended him,and some moron(Joe Alleva, vice chancellor, and director of athletics)at LSU,is defending LSU's drug testing program(way to go,Joe!!!),and head coach Les Miles is also on hot seat... Mathieu has said it(the leaked information)was not accurately reflect the discussions that he had with the NFL teams, while on official visits with the teams... take this with a grain of salt...

NFL,and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!!,part two...

i looked at NFL.com,Packers.com,(it is boring right now),and if you are all pumped up about the 2013 NFL Draft, you may be in hog heaven, but i am very bored, because there is only Draft talk, mock drafts of various teams, and other stuff related to the Draft... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!!! i will get into the 2013 NFL Draft, when it starts April 25th,2013,and not until then...

Thursday, April 11, 2013

a night,at Lambeau Field...

i love looking at Lambeau Field, and right now,it is almost dark, with snow on the camera lens... looks sweet, but cold...

NFL news...

New England Patriots' tight end Rob Gronkowski will delay a third surgery,on his broken forearm, which he broke twice last season,to make sure an infection is cleared out,and he will take a new round of antibiotics to help the arm heal, and be ready for the surgery...

Wednesday, April 10, 2013

a day at Lambeau Field...

inside Lambeau Field, the frozen tundra,is totally white,as snow fell last night/today,as it is overcast,in Green Bay... what a beautiful sight,in April!!!! looks like a ice rink!!!!!!

Richard Sherman's big yap,and a grain of salt...

Seattle Seahawks' cornerback, and resident blabbermouth,Richard Sherman has said that "half the players of the NFL" are taking Adderall... Sherman successfully appealed a four game suspension for taking Adderall, because of a mishandled sample... so,folks, take what he says, with a grain of salt...

romantic time,in Florida,with a surprise twist...

Packers' head coach Mike McCarthy was on a Florida vacation, when a Packers' fan(Tim Schlosser)asked him to take a picture of him and his girlfriend(Abigail Kobriger) on the beach, and as McCarthy took the picture,Schlosser stopped and got down one knee, and proposed to his girlfriend... McCarthy's reaction:he said,"this is cool, this is really cool"...

a touching moment,in Lincoln,Nebraska...

during the University of Nebraska spring game, there is video of seven year old Jack Hoffman, who is battling cancer, running 69 yards through the team for a touchdown, and what is poignant is that the entire team gathered around him raising one finger,in end zone... hope and pray Jack beats cancer...

major Wrestlemania 29 matches...

honestly,i am a fan of the WWE... i know that it is scripted, but it is entertainment for me... the Undertaker is 21-0,in Wrestlemania matches, beating C.M. Punk, with a Tombstone piledriver(a reverse piledriver),after a heck of a match... Triple H beat Brock Lesnar,in a No Holds Barred match, using a sledgehammer, and a Pedigree(a flat-lined piledriver, with arms hooked, and man falls to knees),on steel steps... the WWE franchise,John Cena beat the Rock, with an Attitude Adjustment(heavy duty fireman's carry, with man being planted to the ring,on his back)...

a day at Lambeau Field...

some days i just feel like looking at Lambeau Field,it is not sunset, and it looks beautiful.... can not wait for the 2013 NFL season to start... being a shareholder/owner of the Packers is a true honor, and i respect the team no end,and no doubt...

NFL coaches rankings...

NFL.com ranks Packers' head coach Mike McCarthy third, behind New England Patriots' head coach Bill Belichick, and New York Giants' head coach Tom Coughlin, and ahead of the Harbaugh brothers:San Francisco 49ers' head coach Jim Harbaugh, ranked fourth, and the Baltimore Ravens' head coach John Harbaugh, ranked fifth...

NFL and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz's....

the NFL Draft is 20-22 days away, and the NFL is going through the doldrums of signings, and other stuff, which is absolutely boring to me,because it is... NFL.com is going through the 64 greatest plays,in NFL history(are down to the best eight plays, right now),and there are plays of stupid top ten lists,on the NFL Network right now... i can not wait for training camp, the Packers' shareholder meeting in July, and the season to start, because i will be pumped about it,no doubt... the end of July can not come too soon, for me...

hat tip to Jason...

Detroit Lions' kicker Jason Hanson has retired, after twenty one seasons, from the NFL... one of most accurate kickers in NFL history... hat tip to a great career...

remembering MLK,and RFK...

normally, this is a Packers' post, but today is the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King's assassination by James Earl Ray,in Memphis,Tennessee... i was eight years old, living in Bakersfield California, and i remember my parents being very sad,and the paper on the table, the next day,as we sat down to dinner... later on in the year,Robert Francis Kennedy(RFK) got shot, and killed(he died about 36 hours later,in hospital),at the Ambassador Hotel,by Sirhan Sirhan,in Los Angeles,California, shortly after winning the 1968 California Democratic Presidential Primary... i got woke up by the shots, and had trouble sleeping in the dark, well into high school, after that tragic night... now i still wonder what would had happened if those two people had not been killed by assassins, those nights??? i honestly read a biography of MLK,and read up on RFK to really understand those two people's lives... to both of them,i deeply bow,in deep respect...

2013 Packers' pre-season schedule...

Arizona at Green Bay... in a rematch of the "Fail Mary" game,Seattle at Green Bay(game-August 23th-national television)... Green Bay at St. Louis... Green Bay at Kansas City...

Packers' news...

odd history...

today marks the 40th anniversary of the first mobile phone call...

correction...

i corrected the trivia:during the 1976 Pro Bowl,Ray Guy hit the Superdome's video screen,with a punt...

a day at Lambeau Field...

this is a day that i do not feel like really doing much on my blogs,so i just looked at Lambeau Field at the field inside the stadium... it is clear, and sunny, and the field looked a little brown, worn out,but still has the markings from the last game played, including the big "G",at midfield, and the word,"Packers",at both ends... actually, what a beautiful sight...

Tuesday, April 2, 2013

trivia...

who is the only pure punter ever to be drafted in the first round,of a NFL Draft?answer:Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders' punter Ray Guy,who was drafted 23th,by the Raiders,in 1973... he had a streak of 619 punts, without a blocked punt... at the 1976 Pro Bowl,he was the first punter to hit the Superdome's video screen,on a punt... the NFC team had football tested for helium;it was filled with air, because Guy's punt was unbelievable... the award for best collegiate punter is named for him... at the University of Southern Mississippi,he was a defensive back, his senior year, intercepting eight passes, then a school record, and possibly still a school record...

NFL news...

quarterback Matt Flynn was finally traded from the Seattle Seahawks,to the Oakland Raiders, yesterday, for some draft picks... what round, and what years they may be in,will be noted later on,today... however,to trade Flynn for draft picks was an bad indictment on how Flynn fit into the Seahawks' scheme,overall... what a real pity,to pay him a great deal of money, for very little production...

Monday, April 1, 2013

funnies,on April Fool's Day...

Packers' starting guards T.J. Lang, and Josh Sitton pulled the ultimate April Fool's Day joke,on the fans, notifying the fans,on Twitter, that the Packers traded them both to the Dallas Cowboys, about a half hour apart, then let it sit for a while... they then let the fans in on the joke:getting "angry" about the Packers enjoying the seventh round draft picks the Packers got from the Cowboys... Happy April Fool's Day,folks...

Packers' news...

quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers are supposedly about $2 million apart in contract extension talks... before you believe that it will not get done, the Packers are supposedly offering Rodgers more/per year than Baltimore Ravens' quarterback Joe Flacco, who signed,at the time, the highest NFL contract in NFL history, earlier this off-season... the Packers appreciate how Rodgers has approached this negotiation, without complaining one bit about his old(but current)contract...
