Packers' news...

Packers' free agent defensive end Johnny Jolly has been cleared to resume his career, after a severe neck injury(and surgery),by his doctors, but folks,i may have some bad news, because the Packers' training staff, and doctors is one of the most conservative in the NFL,and even though, the Packers do not rule out Jolly from returning,my money is on the fact that he may not return to the Packers... if he does not return to the Green and Gold,i will cheer for him the first time that he plays the Packers, and do wish my heartfelt hat tip,as he resumes his NFL career,if some NFL team gives him their okay to join their roster...

a birthday celebration...

today would have been my dearly departed mother's 76th birthday,so i started a simple tradition of playing some music from my outstanding music collection... this year,it will be Miles Davis,Anita O'Day,Muddy Waters,Lightning Hopkins,Charles Mingus, and John Lee Hooker, and as a change of pace,Parliament(the album:"Funked Up")... the Anita O'Day,and Miles Davis's albums are live recordings:O'Day's is of a concert in Tokyo,on December 30,1963,and Davis' concert is at the fabled Blackhawk nightclub,in San Francisco,in April,1961... O'Day's concert was televised, but was not released on an album, until 2007,and i have a copy of that concert,on CD...

reverse blog day...

today is the opening day of the 2014 NHL Draft... unlike the NFL Draft, the players drafted by the all 30 teams, except for the teams at the top of the draft, the draft picks will be in junior hockey, the American Hockey League, college,or occasionally even high school, for a few years, before being promoted to the NHL...

blog statement...

i have two blogs, and only once a year,do i switch blog posts on both blogs, and today is that day...
today is reverse blog day, like i said earlier...

correction...

Adrian Wilson signed a three year $5 million contract last year, with the Patriots last year, but missed all of 2013 with an achilles tendon injury, and was released... i corrected the previous post that he signed a three year contract, with the Bears,as he did sign a contract with the Chicago Bears for one year, today;terms not released... oops,no one is perfect!!!!!!

blog statement...

i will be back seriously, folks,on Friday...

NFL news...

Chicago Bears signed Adrian Wilson to a contract... even though,he was a three time All-Pro safety, with the Arizona Cardinals,he has not played in the NFL,since 2012,because of an(torn)achilles tendon injury, and was released by the New England Patriots last season... my opinion:it does not change the Bears' weakness in the defensive backfield:age,he is 35 years old,and he has lost a step, according to league reports...

folks,i may be a very proud shareholder/owner(and i am),but honestly,i am physically worn out,and being mentally burnt out,and so i am taking a few days off from blogging, because i want to be fresher for training camp, and right now,i am mentally burnt out, like a burnt french fry,and physically i have no energy to do this blog, right now... however,i will be ready for training camp and the annual shareholder/owner meeting in July,if i take this break, which is very needed for me...

NFL greatest head coaches...

1:Vince Lombardi,2:George Halas,3:Chuck Noll, tie:Bill Walsh,5:Don Shula... my opinion:actually, because of the NFL founder status,of Halas,i was tempted to put Halas first on my list... i may not like the Chicago Bears, but Halas i do honestly respect very much... just off my list:Bill Parcells,Marv Levy, and Bill Belichick(not in that order)...

blog statement...

as a fan(shareholder/owner,of the Packers)of both the Green Bay Packers, and the Detroit Red Wings,i need time off for vacation, and decompression time,to prepare for next season for both teams, because i am totally worn out,and honestly,i do not have anything else to say,or give, for both of my blogs... like the old saying says,"you can not get blood from a rock"... i need a transfusion,if you know what i mean, after the last seasons of both teams... they were tougher than iron, day by day,and to be a true fan, tough seasons to watch for both of my teams... so a few days off will definitely help me,period...

RIP Chuck Noll...

Pittsburgh Steelers' Hall of Fame head coach Chuck Noll has died at age 82... condolences to his family, along with my prayers, and deep hat tip to a great coach, who won four Super Bowls,in six seasons, arguably the best dynasty in NFL history,in that amount of time... WAVE THE TERRIBLE TOWEL IN HIS MEMORY,folks....

Packers' news...

all nine of the Green Bay Packers' 2014 NFL Draft picks have been signed...

commentary...

the Packers have one more day of their minicamp tomorrow, then training camp in late July, around the time of the annual shareholder/owner meeting...  so there will be a void in Packers' news, except for signing players... i can not wait for football, this season... every pundit has downplayed the Packers' chances to repeat as NFC North Champions, but honestly every team will be improved in the division, but being the underdog,in the division may be just fine, because the Packers have things to prove to themselves(i am not counting the fans,or shareholders/owners,because they know that they will be very good),and to tell you the absolute truth,i am not sad about being underdogs, because having a chip on their collective team shoulders may motivate them to a great season, and they may want to forget about what happened last season(nowhere near a typical Packers' season)... Bring on everybody!!!!!!!!

commentary...

i am very, very proud to be a shareholder/owner of the Green Bay Packers, and to people, that may not sound like a big deal, but to me,i take being part of the public ownership of the Packers very, very seriously, and so people may laugh and snicker at all the hats that i may wear, but i smile every Sunday that i watch the Packers on television(wish i could get season tickets, but with a waiting list(current list-110,000+ people-team President Mark Murphy,in a interview with Packers.com)that would take up to 40 years,to get to the front of the line, there is absolutely no chance for me to get there... that is amazing to think about, isn't it??? i have been a fan of the team since the late 1960's,so i know team history, almost like i know my left hand, and palm(inside and out)... being a shareholder/owner of the Packers means more than a simple piece of paper... i have said that i bleed Red and White(Red Wings' colors)out of one arm,and i bleed Green and Gold(Packers' colors)out of the other arm,but honestly i am such a shareholder/owner,of the Packers, that if you mention the Chicago Bears to me,i tend to be rather nasty to you(i do not like the Bears, period),and during "Bears' Week"(the weeks of the games between the teams),i become like a rabid dog, wanting to bury the Bears under a tree, like a dog burying a bone in the ground... the rivalry goes back to 1921,and i take it very seriously... personally,i deeply respect the Bears, but i want to beat them twice every year, very badly... i do know that is not possible, but i do want that,no matter what the Packers' and Bears' records may be that year;could be winless, and have two wins that year, and if the two wins are against the Bears,i would be unhappy about the overall record, but would be smiling from ear to ear about beating the Bears that year... "Bears' Week",in 2014 are week four(in Chicago),and week ten, after our team bye(in Green Bay),so if you understand what i am saying,do not mention the Bears those weeks to me,or i will get a shovel and start digging under a tree...

blog statement...

i will take a break shortly, and will be back fresher after it... i need a summer break, and i will take a few days off, when i am ready, which will be shortly... i love commenting on "my team"-the Green Bay Packers-which i own a share of the team, and i am very, very proud of being a Packers' shareholder,period...

a day/night(twilight)at Lambeau Field...

the turf on the "Frozen Tundra" looks very green and beautiful... i wish i was sitting inside the bowl of Lambeau Field, and that it would be a dream, just being there...

trivia...

the Packers have sold out every home game, since 1960... an amazing streak of fan loyalty...

NFL news,or is it???

San Francisco 49ers and head coach Jim Harbaugh have had their contract extension talks stall... my opinion:who honestly cares, because of the simple fact that Harbaugh is under contract until 2016,so honestly, what is this??? filler news,or non-news,until the start of the 2014 NFL season... BORING!!!!!!!

unbelievable college football trivia...

what are the most punting yards in a college game??? answer:1,319 yards,by Texas Tech's Charlie Calhoun,on November 11,1939,against Centenary College... he punted 36 times, and both teams combined for 77 punts... the game ended in a 0-0 tie,and was played in a downpour... both teams combined for thirty yards offense in the game, and 67 punts were on first down... believe it,or not...

D-Day 70 years ago...

seventy years ago, today, the Allies stormed Normandy, and its beaches,to create a second front,in WWII... some people call it the breaking point(beginning of the end)for the German Army, and it was a turning point, but honestly,it is the losses,of the sieges of Leningrad, and especially,Stalingrad that started the downfall of the German Army... to all of the Allies, and the American Forces, who lost 2,900+ men that day on those beaches,i honestly and deeply respect all of them, and always will,period...

a day at Lambeau Field...

it would be a beautiful day to sit in the bowl,at Lambeau Field,to watch the Packers beat the Chicago Bears... (i do have a real nasty edge about the Bears)... what a gorgeous day in Green Bay,and that would be something i would pay to see,period...

Thursday, June 5, 2014

a night at Lambeau Field...

it is a beautiful night at Lambeau Field... not many lights are on,but enough to show the "Frozen Tundra" in a soft glow, and shadows... what a sight!!!!!!!!!

NFL news...

the San Francisco 49ers re-signed quarterback Colin Kaepernick to a six year $126 million contract extension;$61 million guaranteed...

Marino has come to his senses...

reportedly,Dan Marino has withdrawn his name from the concussion lawsuit, mentioned earlier,on blog... GOOD!!!!!!

blog statement...

as it will be over 90 degrees for the next week,or so,i am going to take a few days off,but if there is something important,or breaking,i will be online... i am not shutting down my blogs, but i will probably do this,in the early morning,or late at night(after sunset),because doing this in the daytime does suck big time, when it is very hot...

a (money)green with envy quarterback,and company...

Dan Marino was a great quarterback for the Miami Dolphins,in his NFL Hall of Fame career, but reports say that he is among a group of fifteen,or so,former NFL players, who have sued the NFL over the concussion issue, and the group have accused the NFL of taking advantage of former players,in hiding data on concussions from them... there is a settlement of $765 million(since rejected, only on amount of settlement),with a different group of plaintiffs... my opinion:what Marino, and company are doing is being greedy,as can be... his group have not mentioned the amount of money the lawsuit will seek, but one thing that is peculiar about this lawsuit:none of the former players involved,in the lawsuit have had any head problems, associated with concussions, which means that this is only a money grab,by Marino, and the group of plaintiffs... simply said,Danny boy, just go away, and shut up,period...

Packers' trivia...

the Packers have 22 Hall of Fame members, including eleven members of the 1960's teams that won five NFL titles, and the first two Super Bowls... they are second to the Chicago Bears who have 27 Hall of Fame members... trivia:what quarterback won five NFL titles during his NFL career??? answer:Bart Starr,of the Green Bay Packers* *he also won two Super Bowls,in which he was most valuable player(MVP),in both games...
