Scott Carroll,of the Chicago White Sox,won his Major League Baseball debut with a 9-2 win,Sunday,over the Tampa Bay Rays... big deal,for the 29 year old rookie,right??? after the game,he asked Adam Dunn,for a place to go eat,with his family... Dunn said,"let me make some calls",and left... he did make one call,to Timmy O'Toole's,a great restaurant,in the Windy City... Carroll got to the restaurant,with 35 family members,and-surprise-Dunn picked up the tab for the family meal... a nice touch,no doubt...

my opinion of (now banned for life,by the NBA) NBA owner Donald Sterling has been in the sewer for awhile... what bothers me about this is that Sterling has had trouble with race relations in the past(having the DOJ filing a lawsuit over not allowing blacks and Latinos in his apartment housing),and people are now are pissed about his comments on race,when he was secretly being a scumbag,and have those feelings about race,in the past... where were you holier than thou bandwagon jumpers in the past when Sterling had a lawsuit filed,against him by the DOJ,or is it all right to have a person,like Sterling be an owner of a NBA team??? shame on you,NBA,FOR allowing that person to be a NBA owner for years... as for Sterling,JUST LEAVE,AND GO AWAY!!!!!!!!!!

i do wish that NFL football was starting,today... it has been a very long and boring off-season... i am bored hearing,and talking,about draft picks,and very little else,for the last two plus(almost three)months... it is very boring to do it,period... SNOREFEST!!!!!!!!!!!!

the NFL is discussing in May whether to expand the playoff field,to an extra team... it will happen,most likely,in the 2015 NFL season,and now they are floating a trial balloon on extending the NFL Draft from the current three days to a fourth day,with the same seven rounds... they moved the draft from April to May this year,boring the fans who watch NFL Network... the pundits have been talking about who will go in the first round,and the overall draft,basically from the day after the Super Bowl... the network has had a "Seahawks week" that stretched into two weeks,celebrating the Seattle Seahawks clobbering the Denver Broncos,43-8... they basically ordained the Seahawks as the best team ever(not even close on that stupidity)... they have droned on about the draft even since,and they are not going to stop until the draft is over... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sometimes,i put music that makes me absolutely cry... that is the case right now,because Stevie Wonder is simply great... it is very odd that i do not listen to him too often,because he is one of my all-time favorite musicians... "Songs in the Key of Life" is my favorite album of his,period... i used to have a very rare cassette tape of his early music that i played so often that i ruined the cassette... it has been one of those days that i will never forget,because i am strangely happy,not smiling too much,but very serene,which does not happen too often... this year has had its ups and downs,but i strangely am just peaceful right now... if an atomic bomb were to drop right now,i would say,"what a beautiful mushroom cloud",simply smile,and laugh myself silly... i am tapping the table to the rhythm of the music,and do not care a whit,about what people would think if they were to see me right now... folks,just having fun!!!!! some of these songs remind me of family and i see their faces in my mind,as i type... there i go,tears again!!!!! who cares... i love this music... to my memories,they are flooding back like a waterfall into my mind... this is one of those memorable days... sometimes,i need them...

the opening game of the 2014 NFL season will be the Packers at the Seattle Seahawks,in Seattle,on September 4th,2014... the last game between the two teams was the "Fail Mary" game,in the third week of 2012(a Seahawks' 14-12 win)... both players involved in the controversial "double possession" play that ended the game(M.D. Jennings,and Golden Tate)are no longer on either team... Jennings and Tate,strangely,are on the rosters of NFC North teams:Jennings is with the Chicago Bears,and Tate is with the Detroit Lions.... an almost perfect scenario of a game... the main reason that the Packers did not go into free agency too deeply was that they have five players who have missed ten games to major injury,or more(Bryan Bulaga,DuJuan Harris,Jerel Worthy,Casey Hayward,and Randall Cobb),along with two major players,who missed five or more games(Aaron Rodgers,seven games,and Clay Matthews,who missed five games),coming back as healthy players... what position is most important on an offensive line??? left tackle,you say??? Bryan Bulaga started for the Packers in that position,in 2012... he missed all season with an injury... even though Eddie Lacy ran for 1,100 yards as a rookie,jitterbug DuJuan Harris was sorely missed(all season)... Jerel Worthy and Casey Hayward were part of the defensive scheme for the Packers,but they missed fourteen and thirteen games,respectively... Randall Cobb missed ten games due to a broken leg,and there went the long passing game... Aaron Rodgers went down to a broken clavicle,and missed seven games,and Clay Matthews missed five games,with a twice broken thumb... you put those players in the Packers' lineup,and they do not finish 8-7-1,and lose a playoff game to the San Francisco 49ers(perhaps),they finish much higher,in the NFL playoff race... the Packers showed real grit,and heart,as a team,last season,putting pressure on the hapless Chicago Bears,and the collapsing Detroit Lions,who beat the feckless Packers,40-10,Thanksgiving Day,and then did not win a game after that,by the Packers winning critical games,and having the Bears lose games,that basically they had a chance to put the Packers away... remember 54-11,to the Philadelphia Eagles,Chicago??? they then lost the NFC North Division crown to the Packers,33-28,on (my favorite play)"4th and eight",from Aaron Rodgers to Randall Cobb-a 48 yard beautiful pass play,for a touchdown,and the Bears' defensive backfield are still trying to catch Cobb,running into the end zone,at a stunned silent Soldier Field... i loved it then,and still love it,now,right,Chicago??? i could not help myself,in giving the city of Chicago the proverbial needle,could i...

Jacksonville Jaguars' linebacker Russell Allen,who is 27 years old,has retired from the NFL... normally,this would get a yawn from me... however,this is not a normal story... the reason that is not normal is that during early in the second half in a game,between the Jaguars,and the Buffalo Bills,last season,he suffered what looked like a minor injury to the head,but finished the game... one day after the game,he complained of headaches,and so he went to the doctor,and after a MRI,the doctor told him that he had suffered a stroke during the game... after the Jaguars released him for a "failed physical" this offseason,he finally retired from football... well,Russell,i dearly hope that you are all right,and really wish you have good health,and a great family life...

it is a beautiful morning in Green Bay... maybe slightly cold,i would still bundle up in the bowl of Lambeau Field,and watch the Packers play anytime... honestly,with nearly 100,000 on their waiting list,it would take about forty years for me to get a season ticket,so that is out,but i can still dream... what a dream that would be,folks...

family and life...

i have been thinking about my childhood(am listening to SIRIUSXM satellite radio 60's-on 6)lately... remembering my peddle car in which i would travel all over the neighborhood,and i loved it very much... nowadays,there is no way a kid would,or could,do it;much too dangerous,but in the mid to late 1960's,kids would go places,and mom would say,"be back by dark",and the kids would have fun... i am disabled,but unlike now,you tried to be normal when you were a kid,and i remember those times fondly,almost wistfully... my family was close knit,still is,and they treated me basically normal,only making adjustments,if absolutely necessary... my folks would not have it any other way,PERIOD... my mother was self-taught,and self made(and i mean that in the best of ways)... she did things in her short(for her)life that people could not imagine,or honestly believe... she was no dummy,and was smarter than most people that she knew,because she was a total learner,and a human sponge,reading everything that she could get her hands on,and could recite it,when she needed it... my father is college educated,but put himself through college,doing two or three jobs,and studied at night(and still put up with me)... HAHA!!!!! to those two people,i owe a great deal,because they were inspirations to me,and still are,in so many ways that i can not express myself in words adequately... as i sit here typing,there are so many memories of that time flooding into my mind that i honestly could type all night,but alas,if i did type all night,i would cramp my hand(i type with three fingers-i memorized the keyboard,so very few mistakes-a trick my mother taught me)... my mother was very good on the piano,and i honestly got her passion for music-and her big ears... too bad on the ears!!!!!(laughing) i only wish i could play the piano like she did(not a note),because she was great... i remember sitting on my toilet in Cayucos listening to her playing the piano(it had great acoustics)... she did not do it very often,but i remember her smile when she would do it... my father is a great mentor,and he taught me a great deal about life... in fact,when i was "on the road",i did something different every day to test my sanity... it was not a very big thing,always small in detail,but it is something that i had to do every morning,because it was tough as nails to be there,and i wanted to test my mind to see if i had lost my mind... that sounds quite funny,but it was not so funny,when you are facing days after days of concrete,humiliation,and insults,because you are "on the road",and people show you contempt almost every day,and you try to smile,be pleasant,and be yourself,even though sometimes you wanted to throttle some idiotic people... those times did occur,but i wanted no part in that,so i walked away 99% from that stuff... like i said earlier,i am a man mostly because of my family,because they are so close knit that if one of us needed help,the others would jump in,and help... to those memories,i smile,and to my family,i say that i dearly love you all(even my big ears i got from my mother)... darn genetics!!!!!!!

i am getting tired of all the pundits' talk about who is going to be selected in the first round of 2014 NFL Draft... it does not mean that i do not care,and i care plenty,but honestly they have driven that dead dog into the ground,about fifty feet deep,and covered it with so much manure that i only see big cowflies flying around the NFL,right now... they have moved the Draft back a month,and that really sucks,because i want to talk about football,not who is being selected in the 2014 NFL Draft,for an extra month... BOREDOM!!!!!!!!!! i am ready to vomit... anyone want to join me???

NFC North free agency...

it will be a three way fight between the Chicago Bears,Detroit Lions,and the Packers... going into the 2014 NFL Draft,the Bears,and the Lions have made vast improvements on their teams,mostly on their offensive,and defensive lines... except for the signing of Julius Peppers,the Packers have signed most of their own free agents,which strengthens their overall team... that is a plus... the Packers do have a very young,but improving,defensive backfield,which is a major plus,but they did not show much improvement,last season,because of major injuries(example:Casey Hayward,who missed most of the season,with a torn hamstring),and yet,they will be much better with returning players off injured/reserve,including a healthy quarterback in Aaron Rodgers...
