commentary...

honestly,to those who disagree with my ranking of greatest Packers' quarterbacks(i.e.why is Brett Favre ranked third on my list???):i do not go by pure offensive numbers, but by overall Packers' history, not just from the Lombardi era forward, but the entire Packers' team history, that is the reason that Herber, and Isbell, are on my list... i really do not care a whit about opinions... everyone has one,but my opinion is the one that matters...

my ranking of greatest Packers' quarterbacks...

1)Bart Starr,2)Arnie Herber,3)Brett Favre,4)Aaron Rodgers*,5)Cecil Isbell,6)Lynn Dickey... *active

a forgotten boxing champion...

on February 25,1995,there was a boxing match between two WBC world champions, and only one walked out... Nigel Benn beat Gerald McClellan in a real brawl, that saw McClellan knock down Benn many times, including out of the ring(aka Dempsey/Firpo),and the fight went to TKO 10,to Benn, but shortly after the 10th round,McClellan collapsed in the ring, and had brain surgery that left McClellan blind and almost totally deaf... a cautionary tale of boxing, for sure, but boxing fans and others have forgotten about McClellan, but not the WBC and a New York-based Ring 10,but mostly the boxing community have forgotten, but there is a fund raising dinner on Saturday, named,"a evening honoring the G-Man...",in Illinois... just hope they raise enough funds for McClellan... note:there is a fund raising page online, and i will donate something, next month,if at all possible...

commentary...

at the time of the NFC Championship loss to the Seattle Seahawks,i did not blame any one player for the Packers' loss, but now Brandon Bostick, who muffed the onside kick, and was released last week, along with other mistakes of the Packers,is saying that he has received death threats via social media, for the gaffe... for that,i,in no way, condone that behavior, but to blame Packers' shareholders/owners,and fans for a few "crackpots" is unfortunate... Brandon,as a Packers' shareholder/owner,i say,i personally do not blame anyone, but i do say that it was a Packers' team loss... i wish you all the luck, and to have a long NFL career, but the first time that you play the Packers,i will clap for your time as a Packer, but after that i will lightly boo you(ha ha)... note:to anybody who did that to Brandon, you are not a true fan of the Packers, and should be shunned...

NFL news...

a U.S. District judge overturned the suspension of Minnesota Vikings' running back Adrian Peterson... the NFL may appeal....

commentary...

i am happy about NFL Network's "Aaron Rodgers week",with a replay of the Packers' MVP,and the Packers' season, starting tonight... at five in the evening, this entire week,NFL Network,is running replays of certain Packers' games(most at Lambeau Field),starting with the 55-14 demolition(in which "DA BEARS" gave up 42 points,in first half)of "DA BEARS",November 9th,tonight(i will be smiling tonight,as DA BEARS get smashed into the turf of Lambeau Field),then the 26-21 win, against the New England Patriots, tomorrow, and then the 30-20 win, against the Detroit Lions,on Thursday... however, honestly,i normally do not like "dead" time in between the scouting combine, and the NFL Draft, because there is normally nothing to talk about, except the usual Dallas Cowboys' drama(ha ha)...

snowball fight wanted...

commentary...

basically,it is "dead" time in the NFL... the scouting combine is fine, and some of the prospects would fit in nicely with the Packers, but general manager Ted Thompson usually goes for best player available, but in the case of quarterback Aaron Rodgers,he found a nugget... when he was drafted by the Packers,I said "YAY",because i saw him play for the University of California, against the USC Trojans, and i honestly thought that he would be a first round draft pick,in 2005... he dropped 24 picks to the Packers, and when Brett Favre retired, after the 2007 NFC Championship game, and then traded to the Jets,he started in the 2008 NFL season, the Packers went 6-10(third place in the NFC North-the Detroit Lions went 0-16,that season)... after about twelve games,of the 2008 season, and many a Packers' loss,i was listening to the Packers' game on XM,and realized that Rodgers was not Favre, and then he would mature into a real good starting quarterback,so i calmed down, and enjoyed the games... the Packers were 1-8,or 1-9,when losing a game, when leading at the four minute mark,in the fourth quarter(crunch time),in 2008... i really,at the time, did not think that he would not be "Aaron Rodgers"(a two time MVP,and a Super Bowl winner-Super Bowl XLV),so soon... honestly,i am very very happy to be really wrong... by 2010,the Packers won Super Bowl XLV,and were 15-0,when leading, after the third quarter,in 2011,so i was very wrong about Rodgers, and i am very, very happy for that... honestly,i may have told that story before, but, folks,it is my favorite,period...

1 to 3:Chicago Bears(DA BEARS),4:Detroit Lions,5:Minnesota Vikings(all division foes)6:Seattle Seahawks,7:San Francisco 49ers,8:New York Jets,9:Denver Broncos,and 10:the rest of the NFL....

forty years of craziness...

four decades of simple craziness:at first,it was a new blended family with two teenaged boys, and a small kid sister... Kelly was not much in the family, still is not... it was a beautiful Saturday afternoon, and yet,we(Doug,Mike, and i)got lost going to the wedding... how Dad and Patti met is classic Donlore, with a crazy Shaw dashing across Fulton Avenue trying to meet "the woman of his dreams"(for Dad,i say,way to go,braindead idiot!!!!)... early in the marriage,i could not get a bead on Patti... was she just someone who was lovely to look at,or was she a lioness waiting to pounce on mistakes that two teenaged boys would make??? that impression of her did not last long for me... the actual turning point in my thinking was the time that Dad threw the blender through the sheetrock... her reaction was simply now-classic Patti:take the keys, lock self in car,and simply refused to move until Dad did the basic groveling(way to go,Dad)... at that time,i saw a moral backbone, because she refused to argue or fight, and that was impressive for me to see... the fondest memory for me of Patti(early on)was the way that she was happy at my high school graduation... now, four decades of craziness:remembering many a softball game, and that appeared to be her passion,as Regan went through high school, and her reaction of her only daughter's high school graduation, before the graduation... it was priceless... in my 20's,she mellowed out,and so did i,but i now know that she was the rock of the family, because she really loved Dad,and you hurt him, your name is mud,and for over a decade,my name was mud to her,and i knew it... it was not that she did not care,or love me,but she was pissed at me,period... to say this now,but Patti,i am,and was, very sorry for that... in the last fifteen plus years since then,i have come to appreciate, cherish, and simply love the woman, because it was amazing to see Mom,and Patti become like real sisters, and really laugh and simply talk about family things, and i was very happy to see that bond between them... in the last years of this forty years of craziness,i saw a lady with toughness that i never really have seen, because she simply refused to let illnesses get her down, even though at times,it must have been tougher than hitting your head against a brick wall... still is tough,i know, but the real class, and beauty comes out like a lady who is still lovely to look at,but she is still a lioness, who now is tougher than iron, and still is classic Patti-the rock of the family... with a real heart of pure love,i say:why do you put up with forty years of Dad??? still must be an adventure, right,Dad??? many years of my love to you both...

commentary...

i have taken a few days off, since Super Bowl XLIX,and i have needed them... this last season took a great deal from me,but i will be back pumped up to go for it again, next season... the NFL scouting combine is next week, and the 2015 NFL Draft is also coming up,so i am recuperating and recharging my mental batteries, for the long haul... as a shareholder/owner of the Packers,in which i am very proud of being(even though,i may be the low man on the totem pole,in terms of owning only one share),my main goal every season,is for the Lombardi Trophy... nothing else matters,period... honestly, being a shareholder/owner of the Packers is a real dream for me,always has been, and will always be,period... people may laugh and snicker on what i wear, but i do not care, because i am a NFL OWNER,and no one can take that from me,and that is something that i am very, very proud of,and always will be,without a doubt...

Brett Favre anniversary...

23 years ago today, the Packers traded for a little known second round pick of the Atlanta Falcons, named Brett Favre... his first meaningful game time was,in the third game of the 1992 season, when starting quarterback Don Majkowski went down with an injury that basically ended his season, and, unfortunately, for him his Packers' career(he never got another start for the Packers),against the Cincinnati Bengals... he fumbled four times, fans booed heavily, for second backup Ty Detmer, and the Packers still down 23-17,but with 1:07 left, and on their own eight yard line,he then tossed a 42 yard pass to Sterling Sharpe, and with thirteen seconds left, tossed a touchdown pass to Kitrick Taylor,to win the game,24-23,over the Bengals... he then started an amazing 320 game ironman streak(including playoffs),against the Pittsburgh Steelers the next week, and beat them,17-3...

Favre watch(laughing)....

Brett Favre wants his Packers' Hall of Fame induction moved to Lambeau Field itself... the induction, will be in the Lambeau Field Atrium, and he wants the fans to to be there in force,by moving the ceremony to inside the stadium itself, where there are 80,750 seats... i do not know what the Packers' organization will do,but it is a good dilemma to have, isn't it folks???

Packers' news...

Brett Favre announced that he will be at Lambeau Field,in the 2015-2016 NFL season... it has been announced that he will be inducted into the Packers' Hall of Fame, next July, about the same time as the annual shareholders/owners meeting, and then he will be put into the Packers' Circle of Honor, sometime next season... he most likely will be a first ballot Pro Football Hall of Fame member,in the Class of 2016... welcome back,"old gunslinger"*!!!!!!!! *i deeply say that with much admiration, and respect...

a classy move...

in a poignant side note,to Super Bowl XLIX,there is video of Seattle Seahawks' cornerback Richard Sherman shaking New England Patriots' quarterback Tom Brady's hand, and saying "great play" to him... as a football player,he is a great player, and with his persona of a loudmouth,he may not be likable, but honestly, what he did was total class... i really hope that he recovers from his injuries...

egg on your face,NCAA,finally...

it appears that the NCAA was malicious in their pursuit of the University of Southern California during the Reggie Bush scandal... a California appeals court has ruled against the NCAA in a lawsuit filed by former coach Todd McNair,in 2011... McNair claims, basically, that he was "blackballed" from coaching, and claimed that the NCAA did,and said, things in emails concerning what was malicious,in giving McNair an one year "show cause" penalty that basically limited him access to recruits, and in his words,"ruined his career"... the emails are between USC and the NCAA,and reportedly, will show how flippant and care free the NCAA are with punishments doled out by the NCAA,in accordance to what happened to McNair... my opinion:at basically the same time, they gave Ohio State, and then their head coach Jim Tressel a slap on the wrist for the same sort of violations, and then they basically stripped USC of their pride,in leveling out the destructive sanctions that USC are just coming out of,right now... to the NCAA,i give an one finger salute,period... folks, they deserve it...

who honestly cares???

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! Seattle Seahawks' head coach Pete Carroll(Sneaky Pete,to my brother,an USC alum, and Weasel,to me) cried after Super Bowl XLIX... do you believe that i really care??? what crock of manure does NFL.com come up with??? who honestly cares about the 12th man,and especially,Carroll??? i am still smiling that the Seahawks ate crow,on that day,and i will always smile about that,PERIOD... note:to New England Patriots' head coach Bill Belichick, who stuck up for Carroll,to the media, about the "worst call in Super Bowl history",i say that you are very lucky in having that ring... simply said, you won because of a massive screwup, and just shut your yap, until next season... by the way,the Packers beat the Patriots,at Lambeau Field,26-21,this season...

NFL news...

NFL suspended Cleveland Browns' wide receiver Josh Gordon for violating the substance abuse program... he had "two beers, and two drinks",on a private flight, after the season... he was being drug, and alcohol tested, after a DUI,before the 2014-2015 NFL season... it is his fourth violation of the program... he missed 10 games, because of another violation, along with a team suspension,in week seventeen... he can not talk to anyone involved with the Browns,or visit their team offices, until next February... a report says that the Browns are not happy with Gordon, and(my opinion)odds are  that he has played his last game for the Browns...

Happy Birthday, number 80!!!!! Donald Driver turns forty years old,today...

commentary...

both Pete Carroll and offensive coordinator Darren Bevell tried to explain the "worst play call in Super Bowl history",according to Hall of Fame member Deion "Prime Time" Sanders, and even Bevell even threw the wide receiver under the bus,by saying the Ricardo Lockette "should have gone stronger after the football" on the play... to tell you the truth,if Seattle had won the game,it would have been a very good play, but Malcolm Butler, the player who intercepted the pass for the Patriots, said that he had studied and prepared for the play, because the Seahawks had used it during the season, and it was on film, and tell you the truth,i had seen it during the season, because i had seen enough of the Seahawks playing various opponents during the season... the real key is what the Seahawks believed after the game, and they were stunned walking back to their locker room, and they towed "the company line" on the botched play... hand the football off to the "best running back in the NFL"(Marshawn Lynch),or run a naked bootleg by Wilson, and the Seahawks are repeat Super Bowl champions, but Pete Carroll,Darren Bevell, and Russell Wilson are ultimate goats, for calling and executing "the worst play in Super Bowl history"... my opinion:after two weeks ago,and how the Packers lost that miserable NFC Championship game to the Seahawks,if i could have dreamed a way that the Seahawks could have lost, that would have been it... a lopsided loss to the Patriots would have hurt(not much),because it would have appeared to me that the Packers should have been there, but honestly,i really loved that the Seahawks lost the way that they did, because it stunned the team and fans just the way it did for the Packers, but to tell you the truth,i loved that it will haunt the 12th man,and the Seahawks forever, because i have seen personally the way the Seahawks win at the end of the game(the "Fail Mary" game,in 2012,and scoring fifteen points in forty four seconds, and then throwing two 35 yard passes to win the NFC Championship,in overtime, two weeks ago, against the Packers),and to see them lose the Super Bowl the way they lost, was poetic justice, and i simply loved it... to the 12th man,and the Seahawks,i say:eating crow must be bitter, and to tell you the truth,i really feel that the Seahawks were due for their comeuppance,to see it in the Super Bowl was absolutely sweet, and i am still smiling... it is bittersweet that the Packers lost, but to see the Seahawks lose the way that they lost honestly took much of the sting and hurt away from the loss, two weeks ago, because you know how the Packers lost,12th man,and the Seahawks,do you not know??? as the crowd for WWE superstar Daniel Bryan would say,"YES YES YES"... to the 12th man, enjoy bitter crow... after three years of crowing about how great the Seahawks were, enjoy the loss, and that bitter bird, because i simply have no sympathy for the Seahawks, because i simply hate teams that are full of themselves, and i can not feel sympathy for a team like that, because "what goes around comes around"(karma),and i am still smiling... it really bites,Seattle, doesn't it,12th man???

Sunday, February 1, 2015

comment...

i could not do anything but be very happy, and smile from ear to ear, because two weeks ago the Packers lost a game that they should have won,and that is the truth, but they did not finish the game the way that they should have finished it... honestly,i can not help, but smile and gloat over the way that the Seahawks lost Super Bowl XLIX,because karma really bites,Seattle, doesn't it???

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS SUPER BOWL XLIX CHAMPIONS...

New England Patriots 28,Seattle Seahawks 24... for the fourth time, the Patriots are Super Bowl Champions!!!!!!! congrats to the Patriots...

commentary...

first of all,i enjoyed the game, and how the Seahawks lost this Super Bowl will haunt them forever, and make every Packers' shareholder/owner,and fan, really smile, because the Seahawks really blew this Super Bowl... the interception of Russell Wilson, with less than a minute left, when the Seahawks had 2nd and goal,on the one yard line, and Marshawn Lynch in the backfield... he was gashing the Patriots all night, with runs that it appeared that he was unstoppable,AND THEY PASS THE FOOTBALL... OOPS,SEAHAWKS!!!!! DYNASTY OVER!!!!!!!! LEGION OF BOOM,BUSTED!!!!!!! sorry, folks,my frustration over the last two weeks may show up in this blog, because i have seen and heard a lot of stuff about the Seahawks for the last three years, being a great defense, and defense is compared to the best defenses of all time... a total crock of manure,period... to the 12th man in Seattle,i say:be haunted and you are welcome to it... i have no sympathy for the Seahawks, like they had no sympathy for the Packers a couple of weeks ago,and i know that they were snickering at us Packers' fans and the Packers, when we lost to the Seahawks... to the pundits, who said that the game the Packers lost a couple weeks ago,"was the worst Packers' loss in their playoff history"??? what do you think about tonight, when it comes to the Seahawks??? nothing to say... now, shut up,pundits!!!!!!!! if you believe that i am smiling and gloating over the Seahawks' misfortune... you are absolutely correct, and smiling ear to ear... i do not care a whit about what people think,at this moment,PERIOD!!!!!!!!
