the Packers win,if...

the Packers' series all-time with the Broncos is 6-6-1,with the Broncos winning Super Bowl XXXII,31-24,over the Packers... both teams have six Lombardi Trophies, combined(Packers four,Broncos two)... they are two of the teams who have won back to back Super Bowls(Packers won the first two,and the Broncos won Super Bowls XXXII,and XXXIII,over the Atlanta Falcons)... like i told earlier, the Packers lead the NFL,in scoring defense(16.8 points/per game),but folks, the Broncos are tied for second in the NFL(17.0 points/per game)... these teams are mirror images of each other, except for one thing:the Packers have slightly more firepower, but honestly,i would not count out Peyton Manning, but again,he has struggled this season putting the Broncos' offense into the end zone... earlier this season, the Broncos' offense did not score a touchdown in seventeen straight drives... literally, the Broncos' defense actually won two games, when they forced Jamaal Charles of the Kansas City Chiefs,to fumble the football,in week two,and ran it back for a touchdown,in the final seconds of game,to win game,31-24(the Broncos scored two touchdowns in about thirty seconds),and they beat the Minnesota Vikings,19-13,with an interception return for a touchdown(the Broncos' offense did not score a touchdown;they had four field goals, that game)... the Broncos' defense have thirteen interceptions, and the Packers' defense have nine interceptions... the Broncos' defense have twenty six sacks, and the Packers' defense have twenty three sacks... the Packers win,if the defense can slow down the Broncos, and score first and early... the Broncos win if their defense can rattle Aaron Rodgers into mistakes, and can score on a short field a couple of times... interesting statistics, and game,Sunday night???

Packers/Broncos game notes...

the game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday Night Football is two undefeated teams facing each other... honestly, how they are is simply because of the number one total defense in the NFL...  the Packers lead the NFL in scoring defense(16.8 points/per game)... Peyton Manning has not been his usual self, since week nine of last season...  the pundits are hyping the Broncos big time, because they believe they can sack Aaron Rodgers all night... they lead the NFL with 26 sacks(the Packers have 23 sacks,so far, this season),and they denigrate the Packers' defense, because the 548 total yards given up by the Packers, against the San Diego Chargers... however, when San Diego passed on almost every play, for the last twenty three minutes of game play,so you get numbers like that, against any defense... i admit that the numbers look very ugly, but if you allow sixty five passes,in eighty nine plays, any team are going to be torched... so,folks, the Packers' defense is actually much better than people may realize... interesting game,Sunday night???

blog statement...

i will talk about the Denver Broncos/Packers game,tonight...  since the game is Sunday Night Football this week,i have delayed game notes, and "the Packers win,if...",one or two days, and i am sorry folks...

final punching of life's ticket...

tonight,a dark shadow casted its pall on this family... we lost a sweet person to the final punching to life's ticket... i honestly have been through this "passing on" five different times... every time does not get any easier... we say that the person is "in a better place",and they are, meaning they are not in any pain anymore... however, the people left behind are more heartbroken than people can imagine, because they loved them more than life itself... how do they cope with the heartbreak, and the ache that goes along with it??? if i knew that,i would not be still heartbroken after the five sweet souls punched their final ticket to life, and i am still heartbroken over every single sweet soul that i deeply miss to this day... here is a simple answer to it:you hold on tight to the hurting person, let them mourn, and remind them that your shoulder is bigger than anything that they can imagine, because there will be a time, when they will laugh, and that is important that they know that it will be always there... at that time,we shall remember the good times of their life, and how they shall be always in our hearts... now,it is time to close ranks inside our family, and hold on,folks, because it will be a bumpy ride... to that sweet soul,we shall miss you until we see you again, because their remembrance is still in our hearts every day... every hour... every minute... every second... until then...

a sad and lousy night...

i am not in a great mood tonight... just found out about a family tragedy tonight,so i am going to be very sad,and by myself, except Sunday morning, when my father comes for coffee,at Starbucks... what a lousy day,and days to come... i wish that i could hug my sister-in-law right now, because she really needs it... note:i am taking tomorrow off,and talk about the Packers/Denver Broncos game,on Friday...

Packers' schedule...

the next two weeks the Packers will play the Denver Broncos, and the Carolina Panthers... both undefeated,as are the Packers... both games are on the road!!!! a tough road to hoe...

a act with true class...

when 93 year old Louise Edlen(the grandma in the window, they called her)had a stroke earlier this month,in Arlington,Washington, students who she waved to every day sent well wishes and cards to her... when she got home from the hospital,Bus number seven that went by her house was decked out with a "WELCOME HOME" sign(every window had a letter attached to it),and students waved back to her,as they went by her house... a true class act...

being grateful...

when three homeless veterans died recently,in Detroit, they got respect and dignity from a unlikely source:six high school students from University of Detroit Jesuit High School... five seniors and junior were pallbearers at their funerals...what true class!!! a great hat tip and deepest respect to the veterans, and to the student pallbearers...

back to childhood,if you remember...

i guess this is a day going back to childhood, where we saw Ed Sullivan(Mary Tyler Moore, and Carol Burnett, too)every weekend, and kept the television off, until night time... sometimes,i miss those days...

correction...

i am sometimes braindead!!! i corrected two minor mistakes on the previous post... sorry,folks... note:i have had a migraine all morning...

bad teams 101...

how bad are the Houston Texans, and the Detroit Lions??? during the game with the Miami Dolphins,in which they lost 44-26,the Dolphins had 35 points,in the second quarter(led 41-0.at half),and the Texans had zero offensive yards,at that time, and they released their backup quarterback, for missing team flight,to Miami, for supposedly being stuck in traffic(a very lame excuse)... the Lions led the San Diego Chargers 21-3,in first half,of opening week, and lost 33-28,and they have never recovered,since... they are 1-6,and they fired three offensive coaches,today...

comments on the Packers...

comments from the Packers' players mean that they are getting healthier(if you can get healthier, during NFL football season???)... Davante Adams and the injured should play Sunday, against the Denver Broncos... if so,WATCH OUT,NFL... note:i happen to "love" the unique hair style of Adams... just wild, folks!!!!

beatdown of the week...

Miami Dolphins 44,Houston Texans 26... when a team out-scored the other team,26-3,in a half of NFL football, why do they deserve the beatdown of the week??? answer:the Texans were out-scored by the Dolphins 41-0,in the first half...

NFC North division game...

Minnesota Vikings 28,Detroit Lions 19... the other NFC North teams are on a bye week...

a taste of music that is very strange...

my taste of music is various... i have listened to Frank Sinatra,40's music, early 70's music,Miles Davis, and his great trumpet, various country music artists, and some classical music this week... i listen to a satellite channel devoted to the late great George Carlin... i am listening to the great Fats Waller banging on the piano, and i am tapping on the desk, smiling, and just chair dancing... i really do not know where,or how i got this odd, weird taste in music... on my SiriusXM satellite radio, you may never know what will be on at any time... right now,40's music, tomorrow,Radio Classics(1930's-1962 old time radio programs, day after that,B.B. King's Bluesville,or maybe Symphony Hall, country music,or a combination of all of them, another day)... i even turn off the satellite radio, and enjoy Jimi Hendrix,James Brown,Patsy Cline,Ray Charles,Johnny Cash,Stevie Wonder,or even many jazz artists, like Billie Holiday,Anita O'Day,Charles Mingus,Sonny Rollins, and,of course, the great John Coltrane,on my BOSE stereo... i can name many others that i have in my music collection, like Muddy Waters,John Lee Hooker,Dizzy Gillespie, and Gene Krupa... i have very rare recordings of Ray Charles,Miles Davis, and Jelly Roll Morton that date back nearly a century... i was told by someone who i trust about music that i happen to have one of the best music collections,in the state of California... i have to upgrade some of it,because i want more great music in my collection,so i will take a trip,or two,to do so,shortly...

simple thing to keep sane...

sometimes i want to cry when remembering those ten years "on the road",because i met some true "angels",when traveling, and honestly meeting those people simply helped me to keep sane, because it would have been easy for me to lose my mind... one day,i was in St. George Utah, oddly next to a cemetery, reading the Bible, then decided to walk the cemetery, stopped at every single tombstone, looked down, said a prayer, and then walked away... that was one small thing that i did to keep sane, when i was traveling, because sometimes it seemed to be the proper thing to do,oddly,folks...

life "on the road"...

i have awakened at two am,can not get back to bed,and it has been a very strange morning,so far... my mind is going at a high rate of speed, and i am having a hard time, because of it... people have the idea that i am a nice guy,and they are right, but i am remembering the times that i was a person, who honestly did not care about anyone, including family, because things were very, very difficult for me to really survive... ten years "on the road" will do that to you, because you have to be tougher than iron to get by every day... when alone,i was someone who was very nice, but around people,i was a nasty scumbag, when i had to be... i woke up every morning,if i went to bed, looked at another sunrise, and just wondered if this "hell" was ever going to end... to this day,i still can not stand looking at a sunrise, because it got to a point that i just hated it... looked at close to 2,500,maybe slightly more, sunrises, and it was monotonous, during that time... i lost too many friends, loved ones,it honestly hurt, because i had to be someone who had to survive, and i had to do some things that i honestly am ashamed of... that is what i mean by being a nasty scumbag to people... being "on the road" for ten years changes a person and i still do some things that i did back then... i call it "survival mode",when i use those things in my arsenal of things that i have, because i remember how tough it was to be walking, and be "on the thumb",when traveling... i met some very, very nice people, and i honestly was thankful, and grateful for what they did for me,and sometimes things turned around like a true miracle, when i least expected it... for example, walking into a fire station,in Brighton,Colorado, asking for directions to Interstate 76,and some firefighter drives me over to Greeley, buys me a bus ticket to Newark,New Jersey, for no reason,or some college students from the University of Minnesota bought me a meal,in Holbrook,Arizona, paid the bill, and left the change, for me(and it was not a small amount of change)... even making it from Reno to Albuquerque,in just seventeen hours,of hitchhiking, when i get out of one ride,in Kingman,Arizona, and the very next car behind the first ride picks me up,and i am standing on Central Avenue,in Albuquerque,at ten pm.,after being in Reno at five thirty, that morning reminds me of a true miracle... all three things did really happen, including a deputy sheriff,in Delta,Utah, taking me 100+ miles,to the Utah/Nevada border, when i took a wrong turn into the Great Basin National Park, one day... i spent that night,in Ely,Nevada, and some guy, from Leesburg,Florida, bought me a room, and then took me to Reno the next day, when he turned back to the border to pick me up... he went past me at the Utah/Nevada border, drove ten miles, and then did an u-turn,and picked me up... when you are "on the road",you live day to day, sometimes minute by minute, and that is how it is,because life "on the road" is really tough... some of the things that i mention here have been mentioned before by me on this blog, but some things i have never said to anyone, since they happened to me at that time... at times,i was meaner than a cobra just to survive,to some people, but one thing that i must mention here that those times were few and far between, but they are memorable to me,because they were very few in number... some things that i remember were very nice, but at times,i just wanted to scream, because some people left me in places that you would not be caught dead in... at least three people got angry at me,and simply left me in the Nevada/California desert, with no water, and me only walking to some shade,or in New Haven,Connecticut,at three am,walking streets that you are looking around to see if trouble is around the corner, and even in Kearney,Nebraska(a nice town),at two am,with a 40 mph plus wind in your face, and no coat(temp was mid-30's,but wind chill was near zero)... what brutal weather... finally a nice thought to end this:i remember after a long day of hitchhiking simply at night,in Flagstaff,Arizona, this time with a coat, and simply seeing snow fall on the asphalt,as i walk down the road, waiting for another adventure the next day...

NFL history...

Last Sunday,Aaron Rodgers made NFL history,i forgot to mention:he is the fastest passer,in NFL history to reach 30,000 passing yards,in only 3,652 attempts...

game saving play...

the Packers gave up 548 yards on 89 plays, against the Chargers(ugh!!!),on Sunday afternoon, but it is the last four plays that decided the game... on second down, the Chargers ran a play that the Packers actually screwed up on,with Danny Woodhead in the flat near the pylon, all alone, but Philip Rivers decided to go to Antonio Gates in the back corner of the end zone... he overthrew Gates by a mile... however,Clay Matthews noticed the breakdown on the play, with Woodhead all alone in the flat,by the pylon,so he talked to Damarious Randall about it... unfortunately, for the Chargers, they ran the same play,on fourth down,as they ran for second down... this time,Matthews jammed Gates at the line of scrimmage(and took him out of the play),and Randall, who recognized the play, from second down, this time, covered Woodhead at the pylon, and knocked the football away, and the Packers won the game...

pundits suck!!!

the Packers are 6-0,and i am tired of pundits who denigrate the Packers' chances... they hype the New England Patriots like they are the best team in the NFL... may be,folks... when you look at the Patriots' schedule, they have had an easier schedule than the Packers, and have not had the injuries that the Packers have had, this season,so far... i would love to see both teams play each other,if both teams are as healthy as they can be,and that may happen in Super Bowl 50... last season,if i may say,the Packers did beat the Patriots, last season,26-21...

comments...

i am sorry,folks... i had been listening to some music over last weekend that literally reminded of some people that i had not thought about in a very long time... some good, some bad!!!! to tell you the truth,i got sad and then got mad,so i wrote out my honest feelings, and if they got morose,i am sorry, for going on and on,but not for the feelings...

final wish...

at my memorial service/Irish Wake,do me one favor:put a liter of Bacardi 151 by my urn,and enjoy it,liberally... ALWAYS KEEP ONE BY MY URN... have a belt on me...

blog statement...

the Packers have the bye week this week... a great time for the bye this season, because the Packers' entire team is banged up... so i am taking a few days to relax...

final notes on the Chargers/Packers game...

Philip Rivers threw for 503 yards against the Packers' defense... true, but who won... the Packers made two,not just one 4th down and three stop,in game... the first one came in the second quarter,so the Packers' defense did make critical stops in the game... the reason for the 503 yards,in general,is that the Chargers did not trust their running back(Melvin Gordon),who fumbled in the third quarter... after that, they passed almost every play that they could, and no team could have stopped Rivers, who became the 17th passer to pass for 500+ yards in game... BUT WHO WON THE GAME??? a win is a win...

simple statement...

folks, this is a Packers' blog, and the main way that i talk to my father without saying "hello" every day... i enjoy doing it... i estimate about just over ninety percent over the years that i have done on this blog is about Packers' football, since i am a shareholder/owner of the team, but honestly,it is about family, and deep respect for them, and make them laugh, and then understand who i am,as a man,and how much they have had to do with my growth as a person... i have another blog for the Detroit Red Wings, and just pure hockey, because that is the way that i want it to be... if you do not understand that, that is tough, but i honestly do not care a whit about your opinions, because i write most days to entertain my father,my dear family, and that is just me,folks... on this blog,my opinion counts, and no one else's,period...

comments to family...

i only wrote "a strange tale" to tell my family how much i honestly respect and love them, and that is the only point of that blog post... to them,i give a grateful hat tip,and much love...

comment...

note:so far, this weekend, there are no beatdown of the week...

Packers' game score...

Packers 27,Chargers 20... BEST GAME OF THE DAY,and the best game of the season for the Packers... Philip Rivers had 503 passing yards;needed 506 to force overtime, stopped on 4th and goal at the Packers' three, with twenty seconds to play in game... what did i tell you,folks...

game of note...

Carolina Panthers 27,Seattle Seahawks 23... Seahawks not same team as last year-2-4,so far, this season, and game was in Seattle... EAT IT 12's...

NFC North division scores...

Detroit Lions 37,DA BEARS 34,overtime... DA BEARS choke... who cares??? Minnesota Vikings 16,Kansas City Chiefs 10...

the Packers win,if...

if you are the Packers' defense, you must rattle Philip Rivers by harassing him all day... do not allow him extended time to pass the football... if you do,he will dissect you like a surgeon... does San Diego have enough firepower to beat the Packers??? yes,if the Packers make mistakes... he has three major weapons on team offense:Antonio Gates,Keenan Allen, and Danny Woodhead(5"8",if that, and tougher than iron),who can run like a deer but is dangerous out of the offensive backfield, when passed the football,by Rivers... the Packers have scored in the first quarter in 21 straight games, longest current streak in the NFL... keys to Packers to win:start fast, and keep mistakes to a bare minimum... i expect the game to be a shootout:may be last team who has football, wins,or the team who makes the critical mistake,at the wrong time, loses game... interesting game, isn't it,Sunday...

Chargers/Packers game notes,and history...

the Packers are facing the third best team offense, and the second best passing offense,in the Chargers, this season,so far... it should be an old fashioned shootout,at Lambeau Field,Sunday afternoon... historical note:the only time in ten games that the Chargers has beaten the Packers was at Lambeau Field,34-28(during a seven game losing streak),on October 7,1984,and the Packers started the 1984 season,1-7,and finished that season,8-8... what a bounce back... back to game notes:the only time that Aaron Rodgers and Philip Rivers faced each other was in 2011,when Packers won,45-38,on route to a 15-1 regular season, for the Packers... expect that,Sunday... get me the TUMS,folks... sorry, folks,i have switched the breakdown of the game to my new segment,"the Packers win,if"... it just seemed the proper place for it... i use the same resources, but i break it down it more that way...

a strange tale...

this is very strange, but this will be the only time that i will talk about my older sister... she is someone who i honestly have very few childhood memories,or it has been maybe the fact that she has done more damage to my family over the past 45+ years that i have scrubbed my part of those memories to get by with life... she claims to be a Christian, but honestly,to tell you the truth,i have my doubts in some respects of that... growing up with her was strange, because the most vivid memories of her that i have is the weekly fights that my brother would have with her,and i do not mean arguments, but i mean fisticuffs, and i used to call them,"the Saturday Night Fights",until one weekend,my brother started to get the upper hand, then my parents stepped in,and stopped them cold... my older sister is,like they say,"a weird duck",and i simply do not understand her at all... if you did not know the story of what happened, you would believe that she is a nice person, and many of her friends would say that... however,if you mention her to the family, you get various reactions, from indifference,to extreme anger, and to bewilderment, because she has burned so many bridges to the family, that when the last time i saw her,(re-rack it for you)she showed up uninvited, and tried to talk to me... well, that lasted about five minutes,folks... i told her honestly what the family felt about her,and that she had burned every bridge, and that no one wanted any part in seeing her,and then i asked her why she said what she said to me,because it was simply uncalled for and a total fallacy... after a lame apology, she tried to blame other people(her husband),denied that she had anything to do it,then i got angry, cursed at her, opened up my door, and said, angrily,"GET OUT",to her... finally,i have directions to have her arrested(and to put my name on the report,as a symbol),if she shows up at my wake, because i will have more respect for my family DEAD,that she has ever had in her entire life... she has burned that final bridge!!! final thing to say:i deeply want my family to have a PARTY(BURN DOWN THE PLACE!!!,if you get the meaning),when i pass on,because i want to be remembered as someone who wanted to have fun... simply,no tears there, but cry privately,if you must... note:dance an Irish jig for both my UNC and me,there,folks...

blog statement...

folks, sorry,i will preview the Chargers/Packers game,today... it is way too early to do research(2:19 am),but i will do preparation for tomorrow's game, probably during the Red Wings game tonight... it is raining overnight, with thunder, and lightning,so i will get off here, for now... be back shortly...

a class act,after a tough loss...

after the Houston Astros lost to the Kansas City Royals,in the ALDS,in game five, you would think a player on the Astros would be sad... true, but Javier Brackamonte, their bullpen catcher for the last fifteen years did something with class... he emptied his equipment bag, gave all his gear, including about 25 baseballs,to kids, and the Royals' fans, before leaving for the clubhouse... that is baseball,folks... still only a game, and that proves it...

correction...

a few days,i mentioned the Packers had twenty interceptions so far... BRAINDEAD!!!!! they have nine,as a team... i mixed up the number of sacks, which is twenty, with the number of interceptions that they had, this season,so far... sorry,folks...

comment...

i will preview the Chargers/Packers game, today, but honestly,it is way too early,to really think about the Packers, and do some research... be back shortly...

Packers' trivia...

who holds the Packers' team record for the most interceptions??? answer:Bobby Dillon, whose 52 interceptions, and who played for eight seasons, from 1952 to 1959,still hold that record... historical note:when he retired,he was second in career interceptions, behind Emlen Tunnell,of the New York Giants... another odd fact:because of a childhood accident,he lost one of his eyes...

miss you,Birthday Boy...

i am braindead,sometimes... today would have been my uncle Bob's(UNC) 74th birthday... wish you were here for me to pull a classic Shaw prank on you for your birthday... i miss you very much,UNC,ALWAYS,especially on your birthday...

final words on the Rams/Packers game...

final words on the Rams/Packers game:the Rams' team defense came into Lambeau Field being a real tough defense, and honestly, played like advertised... WHAT A DEFENSE... however,no one knew how tough the Packers' team defense was,overall...  true,Todd Gurley did get his 150+ yards rushing, but quarterback Nick Foles threw four interceptions, including one pick in the Packers' end zone, and a 45 yard interception return for touchdown(a pick six),by rookie cornerback Quinten Rollins(Rollins had two interceptions)... another oddity:cornerback Sam Shields did not allow "his man" a reception the ENTIRE game... if the Packers team defense play as well,as they did, against the last four opponents, the rest of the season, the Packers will be tough to beat... honestly, the defensive statistics, except for rushing defense, compare favorably to the Packers' defense,so far, that won Super Bowl XLV... historical note:the Super Bowl XLV team is the only team in NFL history to have an interception returned for a touchdown(a pick six),in every playoff game... honestly, the Packers' defense still face,in the last six games, one AD,(for all day)Adrian Peterson,of the Minnesota Vikings... the last year that the Vikings made the playoffs Peterson ran for close to 500 yards(including the playoffs),against the Packers, when he ran for 2,097 yards... so,folks buckle up... interesting season,so far... note:you may have noticed that i did not talk about the Packers' team offense until now... Aaron Rodgers has a passer rating of close to 118(second in the NFL),and the running attack, has not been good the last two weeks(Eddie Lacy has been injured, and is going to be better),but injuries to the receiving corps(Davante Adams),but the Packers' receiving corps is much deeper than most teams in the NFL,so expect the Packers honestly to be pissed,(and focused) about their offensive woes(if you think a 5-0 team should be pissed right now)... the ENTIRE Packers' team may have a big chip on their collective team shoulders,as the pundits are downplaying the Packers' chances... trivia:when the Packers won Super Bowl XLV,what seed were they going into the playoffs, that year??? answer:a sixth seed... they destroyed everybody,in the playoffs, that year... they also had a top-five defense, that year...

injury update...

T.J. Lang wore a brace on his knee, and expects to play Sunday... Davante Adams has returned to practice, but still is questionable for Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers... cross fingers...

a day of mine...

yesterday,i walked three and a half miles, went by Dimple Records, bought some great jazz from the late great Miles Davis(on sale,of course)... in fact,i bought a second copy of the Complete Jack Johnson Sessions(a great box set),along with a set of Davis at the Newport Jazz Festival, including two sets of music from the European sites, that the festival went to,in the early 1970's... it was too good a price to pass up... funny thing is that my mouth dropped open wide when i saw the price of the Jack Johnson box set... i just could not believe the price... it was almost a real steal,folks... the Newport sets of music were more expensive than the Jack Johnson box set... unbelievable,period...

DA BEARS STILL SUCK!!!!

folks,DA BEARS DO SUCK BIG TIME!!!! however, they have won two straight games... before you jump on DA BEARS' bandwagon, they beat a choking Oakland Raiders' team,by two points, when the Raiders could not put them away,in the fourth quarter, and DA BEARS beat the Kansas City Chiefs by a single point,in the last thirty seconds,of the game... however, the Chiefs lost their 1,000 yard rusher in Jamaal Charles,to a torn ACL,when the Chiefs were up 17-3(they did not score another point),and DA BEARS took advantage,so do not feel too well,DA BEARS fans, until they beat some other NFL team by more than a point or two, because they are still the same team that went 5-11,last year, and if it was not for the 0-5 Detroit Lions(who really suck,TOO),they would be in the toilet of the NFC North basement... by the way,DA BEARS STILL DO SUCK!!!!!

blog statement...

i will have a game preview on the San Diego Chargers/Packers game... perhaps tomorrow... i believe that i forget one of my new segments last week,"the Packers win,if"... for that,i am sorry... i will remember it this week.... today,i need rest,folks... "Idaho Spud" time...

a childhood memory...

this is the strangest day for me,in 46 years:i am thinking of my grandmother "Nana",and listening to 1960's music, including "Sittin' on the dock of the bay",by the late great Otis Redding... i was the last of the three kids of my family to see her in person,in the summer of 1969... i remember also listening to "Puff, the Magic Dragon",by Peter Paul, and Mary over and over;must have driven her crazy, but she never said a word... i learned the card game,Casino, that summer, but ironically have never played it since... noting the song,"Sittin' on the dock of the bay",i remember a road trip that Nana and i took up to Cambria to dig for stones(she collected stones for rock shining),and i remember like it was yesterday, and we passed the Cayucos pier, and the song blared on the radio, and now, every time,i hear that song,i go back being nine years of age,and i well up with tears, only wishing that i could go back to 1969,and see "Nana",her smile, and her touch...i remember the day(in early January,1970)that she died, and i bawled like a baby... i missed her then, and folks,i still miss her deeply...

add another candle to the cake...

the greatest player that i have ever seen playing NFL football turns 53,today... Happy Birthday,GOAT,one Jerry Rice...

NFL,and Packers' trivia...

what team leads the NFL,since 2010,in interceptions, with 110,including four last week??? a)Seattle Seahawks,b)Baltimore Ravens,or c)Green Bay Packers... if you think that if Seattle is the team, because of the vaunted Legend of Boom, you are dead wrong... with Ed Reed and Ray Lewis, you may think of a ballhawking defense in Baltimore, well, strike two,folks... hard to believe, but the team that leads the NFL,in interceptions, since 2010,are the Green Bay Packers... actually it is even a surprise to me... they have nine interceptions, and twenty sacks, second in the NFL,this season,so far...

opinion on an injury...

this is my opinion:expect Davante Adams not to play against the San Diego Chargers,at Lambeau Field, this week... reason:the bye week is next week, and me knowing how conservative the Packers' doctors, and training staff is,i suspect that they,as a group, may want to have him rest the sprained ankle one more week, before the divisional games, and the almost brutal second half of the season... however,Adams may want to play next week,so this just may be garbage that i am saying,folks...

beatdown of the week...

Arizona Cardinals 42,Detroit Lions 17... when you give up 35 straight points, via five turnovers, and pull your starting quarterback midway in the third period, after his third interception, you deserve the dubious distinction of the beatdown of the week, and a bag over your head for a 0-5 start of the 2015-2016 NFL season... note:the fans will be baying for the head coach's scalp,in Detroit...

NFL history...

Denver Broncos' quarterback Peyton Manning has broken Brett Favre's NFL record(regular season, and playoffs) for most passing yards...

Lions sucking big time...

with just about five and a half minutes left in third quarter,Detroit Lions' quarterback Matthew Stafford has been pulled from game, with the Arizona Cardinals leading 35-7,and the fans booing lustily... GET THE BAGS OUT,YOU FANS IN DETROIT!!!!!! note:no matter what the final score is,this will be the "beatdown of the week"...

game of note...

Cincinnati Bengals 27,Seattle Seahawks 24,overtime...

NFC North division game...

DA BEARS 18,Kansas City Chiefs 17... Chiefs choke in last twenty seconds...

Packers' game score...

Packers 24,Rams 10... an ugly win is a win... Packers 5-0... commentary,tomorrow...

note of respect and prayer...

Daniel Fells,of the New York Giants, who got MRSA from a cortisone shot,in the Giants' locker room,is in the hospital... he has had many surgeries on his foot, and doctors are fighting to save it... prayers go to him,and his family... get well,Daniel...

life goes on...

after 586 passes,Aaron Rodgers finally got intercepted by James Laurinaitis... Laurinaitis is the nephew of the Road Warriors' Animal... Packers' Micah Hyde intercepted Nick Foles three plays later, but on fourth down, and one,the Packers were stopped by the Rams...  Packers now up 14-0...

note...

normally,i do not give "beatdown of the week" to the Packers... occasionally, like when the Packers beat the Tennessee Titans,55-7,the last time the two teams played at Lambeau Field,a last second Titans' touchdown ruined a near-perfect day for the Packers... (laughing)...

quote of the week...

"you ain't Russell Wilson,bro"-Packers' linebacker Clay Matthews,to 49ers' quarterback Colin Kaepernick, during a 17-3 Packers' win,in which Kaepernick was sacked six times,by the Packers... it was a quote that was caught on the NFL broadcast,of the Packers/49ers game... my opinion:true,it was a snide remark, but after the deterioration of the 49ers' offense, after the last couple years, that is understandable, and after rushing for 181 yards, during a 45-31 49ers' playoff win over the Packers,in 2012,the quote was rather cold,in my opinion...

a night at Lambeau Field....

the "Frozen Tundra" is ready for tomorrow... an absolutely beautiful sight at night,folks... beating DA BEARS 50-0 would be very, very nice,too...

Rams/Packers game notes...

note:i am sorry that i have not had any game notes in the last two weeks, but things have changed somewhat in the last two weeks, along with a computer power outage last weekend... my father retired, and i have been not too sure,if my father is reading my blog... i will find out definitely tomorrow...  now for the St. Louis Rams/Packers game notes:Rams lead 46-45-2,all-time(that includes a 1-1 playoff mark),but have lost the last four regular season games, against the Packers, and the Packers have won eleven straight home games... Aaron Rodgers have thrown 43 touchdown passes, and an incredible 580 passes(including playoffs),since his last interception,at home,on December 2,2012,against the Minnesota Vikings... that streak is twice as long of a streak as anybody,in NFL history...the Rams' defensive front seven may be one of the best in the NFL,this season, and the Rams have beaten the Seattle Seahawks,as has the Packers, and then last week, beat the Arizona Cardinals,in a brutal game of football(turnovers, and such),but is only 2-2,for the season... question:are the Rams the team who beat the Cardinals, and Seahawks,or are they a team who plays down to their opponents,in game two and three(losing 24-10,to the Redskins, and 12-6,to the Pittsburgh Steelers)... they are a very good team, and they are coming to Lambeau Field, and the Packers are both in the top ten in NFL defensive and offensive statistics,so far... last week,Todd Gurley ran for a total of 146 yards in his first career game, for the Rams, including a breathtaking 52 yard touchdown run,but quarterback Nick Foles threw for only 178 yards, but had three touchdown passes... so the Packers' defense's main focus,is try to get Nick Foles beat you, instead of a two pronged attack of Gurley, and Foles... finally, keep turnovers to a bare minimum... interesting game,Sunday???

U.S. history...

today marks the day 60 years ago that the U-2 spy plane first took flight...

remembering childhood...

i was looking at YouTubeTM and enjoyed some Mighty Mouse cartoons from the mid-1940's... remembering my childhood!!!!

Packers' injury update...

wide receiver Davante Adams, left tackle Bryan Bulaga, and safety Morgan Burnett are questionable to play for Sunday's Rams/Packers game...

blog statement...

sorry for the lack of blogging, but my father finally retired from his long time job(being 81,he worked most of seven decades),last week, and being in very good health,i tip my hat to him... i just have to get used to him not working, and really find out if my blogs(i have two separate blogs)are being read by him, because even though they are Packers' and Red Wings' blogs, they are mostly for him,and other family to read... i will ramp up the blogs again,if my father is reading the blogs...

blog statement...

commentary...

i have to give the 49ers much respect,as they are a very proud franchise, but losing seventeen coaches, and players from last year's team may be too much to overcome, against the Packers... i truly expect a pissed off,and humiliated team after two straight blowout losses,to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Arizona Cardinals... i give out a "beatdown of the week",every Sunday, and last week, the 49ers received it,for the 47-7 beating given to them by the Cardinals, but nobody knows until now, they were a coin flip from receiving it two weeks in a row... i do not expect the 49ers to be routed again, this time,at home, but Aaron Rodgers and company are not your usual opponent,folks... even though the 49ers have won four straight games(the Packers won the previous eight games),they are not the same team that was in Super Bowl XLVII that lost to the Ravens,34-31... however, they are a psychologically wounded team(getting badly beaten for two straight weeks)that face the Packers,Sunday afternoon... more later... an interesting game,Sunday... you bet!!!!

blog statement...

i am doing my research for this weekend's Packers/49ers game,today... stay tuned... note:right now, everything is fine, but my head feels like it is clogged, and hurts(ha ha),so i am going to take a nap for a couple hours, and will be back,shortly...

a small correction...

sorry, folks,i noticed that pundits have said that Packers' quarterback Aaron Rodgers have thrown forty three touchdowns,at Lambeau Field, since week 13 of 2012,,against the Minnesota Vikings,on December 2,2012(a Packers' 23-14 win)... note:that is absolutely correct about the date,of that Vikings' game,finally... i mentioned that he has thrown 48 touchdown passes,in a previous post... i will correct that...

blog statement...

i will preview the San Francisco 49ers/Packers game starting tomorrow... may have some things to say later tonight... right now,i am having a hard time waking up,and i need to do some things today,or tomorrow morning, because i have a birthday dinner to go to,and other things to do,but it is going to rain, today,so i may go out and do things tomorrow...
