commentary...

being a shareholder in the Packers may not be a great thing to some people, but to me,the stock certificate is priceless, and i honestly find it incredulous that some people still put it down, but to those people,i say that helping the Packers fund the renovation,of Lambeau Field means a great deal to me,because to me,it just means that i have an emotional attachment to "my team",which i can not explain,or express,to anyone... i really wanted to be a shareholder(in 1997),very badly, but because of difficult circumstances,i was not able to buy Packers' stock,then... going into my first complete season,as a shareholder(i.e. owner),i even watched the complete NFL Draft, over last weekend, taking note of draft picks,of the other NFL North teams... being a shareholder just makes me feel i have a legitimate stake in what the Packers do,as a team, and being a shareholder means that i feel very offended by what happens to blacken, and soil the image,of the NFL,so i am looking forward to my first complete season of NFL football,as someone who has a real voice, and i am looking forward of sharing my new viewpoints,as a Packers' shareholder...

funny goof...

Steelers' quarterback Ben Roethlisberger called first round pick David DeCastro, and DeCastro thought that he was talking to the Steelers' travel coordinator, about his flight,to get him to his press conference,to be introduced as the new Steelers first round pick... when Roethlisberger congratulated him on be drafted to the Steelers, his first response to Roethlisberger was,"did you get those flight plans?",and to make it funnier,he kept repeating the question to Roethlisberger... i would love to be a fly on the wall,to hear the rookie hazing of DeCastro,at training camp, when he WILL get the same question, over and over, almost every day... Welcome to the NFL,David...

even though they have four quarterbacks,on roster, the Packers have a question,on who will be the backup,to Aaron Rodgers, according to pundits... not so,for head coach Mike McCarthy,he has said that Graham Harrell, out of Texas Tech, will be the backup quarterback...

Packers' news...

Packers have released 2010 All-Pro safety Nick Collins... if he plays again,i will cheer for him the first time that he faces the Packers, out of deep respect... to Nick,i say,i hope that you have a good life, after football, and if you play again that you play well...

Packers' news...

the annual Green Bay Packers Shareholders' meeting is July 24th... training camp begins, with players reporting,July 25th,and first practice is July 26th,at St Norbert's College,in De Pere,Wisconsin...

NFL news...

NFL has increased the training camp roster limit, from 80 players to 90 players... it will be reduced to 75 players, for the third weekend of preseason games, and only the fifty-one highest paid players count towards the salary cap...

Packers' news...

Packers re-sign Erik Walden,today...
Packers' legend LeRoy Butler, who started the "Lambeau Leap",on December 26,1993,when the Packers beat the Los Angeles Raiders,28-0,will announce the second round draft, for the Packers,in Radio City Music Hall,on Friday...
funny item of the day:there is an actual fight song, for the Packers, named,"Go,You Packers,Go",written by Eric Karll,in 1931...
the rights,to the song, were once owned,by Lawrence Welk, who actually recorded the song,once... it is played after player introductions, and extra points,at Lambeau Field,to this day...

NFL news...

Brian Dawkins has said, via Twitter, that he will retire after 16 seasons, with the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Denver Broncos... he thanked the fans,of the Eagles, and Broncos, and the Eagles are trying to sign him to an one-day contract,to have him retire,as a Philadelphia Eagles' player...

Packers' news,and a comment...

Chad Clifton has been released by the Green Bay Packers, after a failed physical... he played 160,of his 165 games,in NFL,as a member,of the Packers... he missed ten games, because of a hamstring injury, and then a back injury, during rehabilitation, last season... to me,he will always be a Packer, and if he plays again,i will respect him,no end... to him,i say,you have my respect-you have earned it...

comments...

i have no use for people like the suspended players, coaches, and general manager that have been involved in the NFL "bounty" scandal... they have given the NFL a black eye,and as a Packers' shareholder,i find it offensive, down to my bone marrow, that people would do it,not for one year, but for many years...

NFL news...

New Orleans Saints have restructured Jonathan Vilma's contract expecting him to be suspended(he says)two to eight games, for his role,in "bounty" scandal... my opinion:put him out for a season, just like disgraced head coach Sean Payton, without pay... he is a piece of work...

Sunday, April 22, 2012

quote...

Packers' Clay Matthews, talking of the 37-20 Packers' loss to the New York Giants,"i do not know if you ever really get over it... i still remember losses from my childhood that you never get over... fortunately,we get to play the Giants again this year, and hopefully have a little redemption"... my opinion:he is right...

Saturday, April 21, 2012

NFL news...

on Wednesday,i noted an earlier vote by the Minnesota House committee, that rejected the bill(9-6,against)that would help fund the proposed stadium, for the Minnesota Vikings... well, after an emergency meeting with the players involved, and the NFL,the same Minnesota House committee voted 8-6,to improve a revised bill, for the state funding of the stadium...

Friday, April 20, 2012

Packers' news...

Packers' quarterback Aaron Rodgers, one of three quarterbacks targeted,in the New Orleans Saints' "bounty" scandal, noted that pro football is a violent game, and you try to rattle the quarterback with big hits, and also said this,"However,i think the line is drawn, when players knowingly take money for hits that cause injuries,to another player... i think that's when the line gets crossed..." AMEN,AARON!!!!!!! my opinion:that is not pro football, that is being thugs,period....

commentary...

because of unusual backloading the NFC North division games for the Packers, pundits have picked the Chicago Bears,or the Detroit Lions,to win the NFC North this year, but honestly,if injuries do not strike them hard, this upcoming season, the Packers will be the big dog to beat in NFC North, and i am not saying that the Bears,or the Lions have not improved... however, knowing Packers' general manager Ted Thompson,he will have a very good draft, and the Packers' offense still has Aaron Rodgers,Greg Jennings,James Jones, and company... the defense was pitiful last season, but coach Mike McCarthy, and the coaching staff will improve that unit, this season...
the biggest loss,of the 2011-2012 season, happened in week two(not on scoreboard),but in defensive backfield, when 2010 All-Pro Nick Collins went down, with neck injury(and had neck fusion surgery),and the Packers' defense actually never recovered from that loss... the experience of those players, who played in his absence, will help in the long run,but in the short term,it really did not help, last season... the Packers' offense was so explosive that it overshadowed a defense depleted by a severe injury, that took the proverbial heart of the defense out... for the pundits who say that Packers are not the same team,as in 2010-2011 NFL season, they may be not,but they will be better than last season, and that is something that the teams that the Packers play, will have to deal with, and they will be tough to beat, and with Aaron Rodgers at the helm, and coach Mike McCarthy at helm of entire team, the entire team will have a big chip,on their collective shoulders, will be hungry, dangerous, and anxious to redeem themselves, after a very disappointing end,to the 2011-2012 NFL season... WATCH OUT,NFL!!!!!!!!

Wednesday, April 18, 2012

NFL news...

a Minnesota House(House Government Operations, and Elections)committee voted down the Minnesota Vikings' stadium deal,by a vote,of 9 to 6,leaving the Vikings stadium,in limbo... they rejected a stadium,in Arden Hills,Minnesota, earlier this year, and now they rejected a stadium deal,at the site of the Metrodome, which the Vikings, and the NFL had hoped it would pass a few weeks,ago... now Zygi Wilf, and the Vikings are extremely disappointed... Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton has asked the team to wait a year, but the Vikings has said that the state has said to wait for a new stadium, for six years, and the team, through a spokesman, has said that,"no action this year is a decision...",and,"there is no next year..." what a mess...

RIP DICK CLARK...

"eternal teenager" Dick Clark has died,at age 82,today... prayers go out to his family...

NFL draft trivia...

what NFC North team passed on drafting Aaron Rodgers, before he was drafted by the Packers,in 2005,not once, but twice? answer: the Minnesota Vikings...

comments...

simply said,i am looking forward to New York Giants/Green Bay Packers,November 25th,at Met Life Stadium... the Packers may want to get rid of the sour taste,of the worst played game of the 2011 NFL season, because they did not play very well that cold January night,in Green Bay...

December 9th:Detroit Lions...
December 16th:at Chicago Bears...
December 23rd:Tennessee Titans...
December 30th:at Minnesota Vikings...
five of six division games, after the bye week...

injury update...

2010 All-Pro Packers' safety,Nick Collins has delayed his announcement on whether he will return, for 2012 season, because he wants more doctor's opinions before deciding... honestly, for the Packers, they should draft a safety,in upcoming NFL draft, just in case, but the decision should be,by training camp, and it being the off-season there is some time before the decision needs to be made... take care, and get well,Nick!!!!

commentary...

as for Drew Brees, the New Orleans Saints' quarterback,he still says that he has not been shown any "meaningful" evidence,of the "bounty" scandal... well,Drew, tell me again that you had no knowledge of the "bounty" scandal, before the bomb went off,in face of NFL... i do not believe that one iota, because other players knew what was going on,and the NFLPA knew of the audio of Gregg Williams talking about "targeting" the body parts,of the San Francisco 49ers,the night before their NFL playoff game, last season, and they knew of it,before the media leak... you are trying to save the Saints' season,by denying the facts of the scandal, and try to minimize the players' punishment,by sticking up for your football brothers, which is all right, but again,Drew, you are damaging your reputation,by being a laughingstock,to the rest of the NFL,because what is out in public(public knowledge),is damning to the Saints, and the blackest eye,to the NFL... so,grow up,shut up,and simply play football,Drew...

helping kids,and charities...

since 1950,and 1961,the Packers have played a Shrine game(1950),and the Bishop's Charities game(1961),in their preseason;having records,in Shrine Game,of 32-27-3(in 1970,there were ties,in both games;6-6,Shrine game, against Chicago Bears, and 31-31,Bishop's Charity game, against New York Giants)... they tied Bears, again,in 1973,with a 13-13 tie,and in 1988,they tied the Kansas City Chiefs,21-21,with an overtime period, thrown in... the record in the Bishop's Charity game is 27-23-1(with that tie,in 1970,31-31,against New York Giants)... they have raised more than $3.2 million, for the Shriners' hospitals, and for the Bishop's Charities, they have raised more than $3.5 million... in the 1970's they changed the contract,to a flat donation,to the Bishop's Charity, but the Shriners get a percentage of the gate, for their game,to help the kids...

NFL news...

according to the Sacramento Bee,and NFL.com,the San Francisco 49ers,who will start soon on construction,on a new stadium,in Santa Clara,California, plan to bid for the right to host Super Bowl L(fifty),in 2016... the 49ers are optimistic to be playing in their new stadium, for the 2014 NFL season, and the NFL requires a team to play in a new stadium, two complete seasons, before being eligible, for a title game...

unique facts...

there is a Navy ship with the name of USS Green Bay:it is a San Antonio Class landing platform dock ship... in other words,it is a troop, and gear transport ship... the Packers' "G" emblem is plastered all over the ship, and every Sunday during NFL season, the Packers' game is shown to the crew...

fantasyland-pro football,not violent?

Packers' trivia...

what was the Packers' record, during the 1929-1931 three year NFL Championship reign? answer:34-5-2(12-0-1,in 1929;10-3-1,in 1930;12-2-0,in 1931)...
what was the Packers' record, during the 1965-1967 three year NFL Championship reign? answer:36-9-2(12-3-1,in 1965;14-2,in 1966;12-4-1,in 1967)...*
*includes Super Bowl I,and II...

NFL,and NBA news...

New Orleans Saints' owner Tom Benson has bought NBA's New Orleans Hornets, pending approval, from the NBA's Board of Governors...

crime news...

former San Diego Chargers' quarterback Ryan Leaf faces four felonies,in breaking into two houses, and stealing oxycodone, and then two days later, after being arrested once,he broke into another house, and stealing hydrocodone... if convicted,on all four charges,he faces 50 years,in prison... what a waste of talent!!!!!!
former Detroit Lions' wide receiver Charles Rogers has been charged with threatening to kill his mother,"unless she gave him back $100,000 dollars",and conspired to threaten her, with his uncle... both charges carry a maximum of a year,in jail... he also faces three other unrelated misdemeanor charges... what a waste of talent!!!!!!

Packers' news...

Packers' off-season conditioning starts,Monday,March 16th,2012...

commentary...

St. Louis Rams' head coach Jeff Fisher,is friends, with disgraced, and suspended Gregg Williams... he said, among other things, that,"Gregg is very, very remorseful,at this point, and that he regrets everything that took place"... note to Fisher:if Williams was remorseful about everything that took place, then why did he do it,in Buffalo,Washington, and New Orleans(as the NFL,and many former players have said that he did the same thing,in those cities)... point blank:shut your yap about your friend, and Jeff,he is only sorry that he got caught red-handed doing it... now that is the truth,Jeff... i am so tired about hearing how sorry these people are, about this sordid episode,in NFL history, period, because basically they are only sorry that they got caught, and suspended, because money talks, and all of them lost a lot of money, and their reputations, especially Gregg Williams... my opinion:do not allow Gregg Williams anywhere near a NFL stadium, locker room,or office,again... in other words:A LIFETIME BAN!!!

Thursday, April 12, 2012

NFL news...

the NFL will allow member clubs to have gambling related ads, only in their team programs,on their game broadcasts,up in the upper reaches(upper bowl)of their stadiums, and in the inner concourses of the stadiums, for the next two years... the change of policy will allow in-state casino gambling ads,on a limited basis,in their team markets, but no NFL employee, player,or coach will be allowed to appear in advertising for any casino,period...

merry-go-round?

New Orleans Saints named Joe Vitt interim head coach,in lieu of Sean Payton being suspended for 2012 season... problem is:Vitt will be suspended the first six games of 2012 season, for his actions in "bounty" scandal,so again the Saints will name their second interim head coach,at a later date, most likely Pete Carmichael,Saints' offensive coordinator, but again, who really cares?

Packers' news...

former Green Bay Packers' player LeRoy Butler,in an interview, was not surprised by the tape of Gregg Williams talking to the Saints' defense... he has heard the same speech from defensive coaches,in the past, except for the targeting of body parts, made by Williams... he just noted that the coaches,in the past, had said to play hard, hit hard, and do your job,on the field... he also wondered why Williams went overboard,on the audio tape, noting the teams have the list of injuries,on other teams, and that the players already know what may be wrong, with opposing players, and that(targeting the body parts)was not called for,and unnecessary...

uniforms...

at various times,in Packers' history, talking of uniforms, the color blue, has been the dominant color,in the Packers' uniform(note:the third jersey, today, celebrating the 1929 NFL Championship team),and from 1954-1957,but with the advent of Vince Lombardi,as coach, the color green became dominant,again... the current uniform goes back to 1961,with Lombardi, and the hue of the helmet(the yellow-gold),is unique to the Packers, and the lettering on the helmet(the Big "G")comes from 1961,and Lombardi(whether he designed it is debatable-urban legend says that he did),it stands for Green Bay... the uniform has been worn by every Packers' player, since, and unlike some new uniforms(the Denver Broncos, and the Seattle Seahawks, for example)that simply look like a modern art exhibit run amok, the Packers' uniform is simple and rather understated, and has been, since 1961,and that is the way that it should be,period....

correction...

the first Packers' owner was J.E. Clair, not Blair.... oops,folks...

Packers' trivia...

who was the first Packers' NFL(APFA)owner,in 1921? answer:J.E. Clair,of the Acme Packing Company, was granted an American Professional Football Association franchise, for the Green Bay Packers,on August 27,1921... league renamed NFL,in 1922...

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

NFL news...

Bill Parcells have told the New Orleans Saints,"thanks, but no thanks...",in not accepting the head coaching job for this season...

Monday, April 9, 2012

commentary...

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell did the absolute right thing,in suspending and fining the Saints, and making the team forfeit,at least, two draft picks, this year and next year... it is a black eye for the NFL,and as a Packers' shareholder,i am extremely embarrassed,by this circus, and no one is going to change my mind,or make me feel better about this... honestly,i can not wait to find out about what is going to happen to the 22 to 27 players involved, because they are the ones who deserve punishment, and from the NFL's own words, the punishments for the players will be "harsh",with fines, and possible suspensions... this circus have dampened the image, and stained the overall product of the NFL,which i can not stomach, because i am part of the public ownership,of the Green Bay Packers, which makes me very very upset... thank you,Commissioner, for cleaning up this circus!!!

trivia...

Packers played "home" games,in Milwaukee,from 1933-1994,going 105-61-3,in that time....

"bounty" punishments,on Saints upheld...

NFL,and Commissioner Roger Goodell, upheld the suspensions of head coach Sean Payton, whose one year suspension starts April 16th,2012,and general manager Mickey Loomis, whose eight game suspension starts at beginning at 2012 season, and assistant coach Joe Vitt, whose six game suspension starts at beginning of 2012 season... Commissioner will look at the conditions of what they have done,in the time away from the game, but has power to extend suspensions,if they screw up,on the conditions of the suspensions... Commissioner has given Saints' "a way",to get their 2nd round pick back,in 2013... every other forfeiture has been upheld on the Saints... my opinion:i honestly believe that the Saints may get back their second round pick,in 2013,because the Commissioner has,at least, opened up that door...

Saturday, April 7, 2012

preseason schedule...

the first preseason game of the Packers will be on national television, against San Diego,in San Diego,on August 9th,2012...
the others will be:Cleveland...
:at Cincinnati...
:Kansas City...
the other games i do not know what day they are,yet...

Friday, April 6, 2012

commentary...

i actually have heard about three and a half minutes,of the twelve minute audio, involving former Saints' defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, targeting several San Francisco 49ers' players, mentioning names, and going after actual body parts, like pointing to chin, talking about Alex Smith(and rubbing fingers, together,in international sign for money, and saying,"i got the first one,i got the first one"),and talking about taking out the anterior cruciate ligament,of Michael Crabtree, who injured it,earlier in the season... if Williams does not get a lifetime ban, after talking to Commissioner Goodell, when he does talk to him(after the 2012 NFL season),because this audio is not acceptable to me,and better be not acceptable,to the NFL... to tell me that the Saints, and Sean Payton, are now talking about Williams, being a "rogue" coach, that it is so much baloney, and simple bull, that it would be laughable,if it was not so serious, but it is,Saints!!! i find it incredulous, and am blown away by the Saints',and Payton's arrogance, and utter stupidity... to Commissioner Goodell,i say respectfully,"Hammer them all, hard",please!!!

Thursday, April 5, 2012

funny commercial...

Packers' quarterback Aaron Rodgers did five funny commercials, for the Milwaukee Brewers... the first one shows him on the mound taking a three step drop, before throwing the baseball to the catcher... the other four commercials come out every three weeks, for the Brewers...

commentary...

three new things about the "bounty" punishment and scandal:now a twelve minute audio has surfaced that during the twelve minutes,Gregg Williams talked about the San Francisco 49ers' Alex Smith,Frank Gore,Kyle Williams,Vernon Davis, and Michael Crabtree, and injuring them, during a 49ers/Saints playoff game, going after the heads of Gore, and Williams, who suffered a concussion...
Saints, and everybody else involved, will have their appeal heard by Commisioner Roger Goodell, most likely heard today... in fact,it is being heard right now,or was heard shortly before this posting...
a Louisiana Senate committee passed a resolution urging the NFL,to reconsider the New Orleans Saints "bounty" punishment...the resolution cites,"the widespread public opinion,in the state of Louisiana, and beyond that the penalties imposed on the Saints are too harsh, and should be reconsidered"...
my opinion: to Gregg Williams,i gave you the benefit of the doubt, but recent developments gives me the creeps,so just go away...
to the Saints' organization:take your lumps, and go back to football...
to the coaches, and general manager:i hope you take your punishment, and just shut up...
to the Louisiana Senate panel:SHUT UP... you have no power over what happened to the Saints, and who really cares what you want, and believe...
to the fans,of the Saints:i feel pity for you, because the Saints gave the NFL,a black eye,and that is too bad...
as a Packers' shareholder,i back up Commissioner Goodell, and will be disappointed if punishment are reduced, but will understand, and yet,i am tired of this circus, very tired,of this circus...

Tuesday, April 3, 2012

Packers' news....

2010 All-Pro Nick Collins will meet with Packers' brass, next week, about his status for this upcoming season, and about his overall health...

NFL news...

sorry folks!!!!!!! offseason news, about the Packers is scarce, but i am trying...
one thing that has happened:NIKE has unveiled the team uniforms, for every team today... the Packers have chosen basically the same uniform fabrication,as last year,so nothing has really changed,in that case...
Brian Urlacher,of Chicago Bears is apparently "pumped up",about the Bears' off-season additions... so what...
now for the strange:Mikel Leshoure,of the Detroit Lions, will appear in court, for arraignment on a charge,of possession of marijuana,tomorrow... if he does not show up,a warrant will be issued...
New York Giants' wide receiver Victor Cruz, who is scheduled to make $540,000 this upcoming season, does not expect a training camp holdout, while he seeks a long term contract....

reminder...

again, the San Francisco 49ers,like in 2010,and the New Orleans Saints, like last year, come to Green Bay,this upcoming season... hope it snows deeply both weeks... (laughing)...

Monday, April 2, 2012

Packers' news....

free agent Anthony Hargrove has been signed,by the Packers...
head coach Mike McCarthy wants to expand Jordy Nelson's footprint in the offensive chemistry,of the team... he led Packers,in catches(68),and yardage,(1,263),and yards per catch(18.6 yards),and touchdown catches(15),even though he started only nine games...
