Happy Birthday "the Intimidator" Dale Earnhardt... in his prime,there was no more dangerous driver with a couple of laps left in a race,than to see that black "3" in your rear view mirror,because more than likely,you are dead meat,because he would do most anything to win... he died on the final lap of the 2001 Daytona 500,on February 18,2001... days later,i literally cried watching his memorial service...

Sinatra and a mutual friend...

it is odd but very true that every time i hear Frank Sinatra,i think of my soulmate... however,no one knows why that is true..."Old Blue Eyes",and yours truly honestly had a mutual friend,and my soulmate was the mutual friend... her family were friends with him when she was growing up,so i smile every time i hear Sinatra,and she told me two stories about Sinatra,one of which will remain private,but when she was injured in a car accident forty five years ago,yesterday,in Wisconsin,she was flown to California,via private jet,by the then director of the CIA,for whom her father worked for,at that time... one of the sympathy cards that she received after her car accident was a hand written card from Sinatra... i just smile and start to remember her,and yesterday,was a day that i will always remember... i know that she passed away,in 1999,but i still miss her every day,and that is the way that it will be... a piece of me also died the day she passed away,but time goes on,and i will see her again,someday,and that will be a time to remember,too...

since i mentioned Aaron Hernandez's arrest in the shooting death of Odin Lloyd a while back on this blog... i will mention his conviction on first degree murder,and other gun charges... he will spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole... he faces at least one more trial... what a waste of human flesh... for him,he can rot in prison... to the Lloyd family,my prayers go out to them... his co-conspirators will face trial after him...

to tell you the absolute truth,the NFL Championship debacle by the Packers still pisses me off... the 2015-2016 NFL schedule is going to be released shortly... they say this week will be the week of the schedule release,and i already know that the Seattle Seahawks comes to Lambeau Field this season,and i really hope there is a second game in Green Bay,in January,for the NFC Championship... i want Russell Wilson to be buried "in" the Frozen Tundra(temp:minus 10,with a wind chill,of minus 30,in January,sounds wonderful)... besides DA BEARS,i am beginning to really "hate" the Seahawks the most... i do accept the loss,but we will have a big chip on our collective shoulders.... to tell you the absolute truth,i was elated that the Seahawks lost Super Bowl XLIX,especially in the way that they lost,because they were celebrating the potential win too soon... Pete,old sneaky Pete(my brother's name for him;he is an USC alum),you deserved the Super Bowl loss,because karma does bite,doesn't it,weasel(my name for him)... welcome to Lambeau,because the Packers simply want to beat you badly,period...

"on the road",loving it,and still missing it...

this is one of those nights that i can not sleep too well... right now,i am listening to some great blues music(one Rev. Gary Davis,with Hesitation Blues),and remembering two 100 mile walks that i did in Colorado,and Nebraska,in August,and September,1998... i still remember one day near the end of the walk in Nebraska,in which i walked past a pond,in which i saw a huge group(about 1,000)of blackbirds,or crows doing circle eights around this pond,and i just stood there watching the birds for a few minutes,and just wondering why they were doing that... just simply amazing!!!!!! i walked from Boulder to Craig,Colorado,in August 1998,and then after four days in a semi(being a trucker)from Reno,Nevada,to outside Cheyenne,Wyoming(going through Nevada,Idaho,Utah,and Wyoming),and then being stuck at a rest area,on the Wyoming/Nebraska border,and getting nowhere for a weekend,i decided to walk up US-30,in September,1998,which parallels north of I-80,and for your information,US-6 parallels south of I-80,in Nebraska... in August and September,1998,it was simply gorgeous in those two states,and walking in those states was simply breathtaking,period... there is one thing that i truly miss about my time "on the road",and that is the traveling of this country,because i remember some simply spectacular days of putting my thumb out on the road and then not going where i would be at night time,and again,being stuck in places,like three miserable days outside a truck stop,on State Route 99,outside Bakersfield,and that was after being stuck thirty miles outside Barstow,on SR 58,on one Memorial Day weekend(1995),in 105 degree dry high desert heat(i have a scar of a third degree burn on my left arm near my shoulder,from that day)... simply miserable!!!!! that day,i absolutely drank a six pack of soda,in exactly three minutes,if that long... when you have had no water in six miserable hours,and you are thirsty,that will happen... in the ten years of being "on the road",those days going from Las Vegas,through Barstow,and Bakersfield,to Sacramento,were the most miserable of that time,because that is the reason that i call State Route 99,"the highway of death",because i almost died during those days,literally... remembering those days "on the road" is a memory that i will never,ever forget,and yet,those days toughened me up no end,because you know that you are tougher than nails,when you survive that time... you also know that you have seen some country that others take for granted,and you are appreciative of that time "on the road"...

two former Packers have died in the last two weeks,and i forget to mention their passing... one was halfback Johnny Papit,who played mostly for the Washington Redskins,but played four games for the Packers,in 1953,rushing six times for 44 yards,and one touchdown rushing... the other was Terdell Middleton,who is one of only nine running backs,who has rushed for 1,000 yards,in a season,for the Packers... in 1978,he rushed for 1,116 yards,and scored 11 touchdowns,for the Packers... to both families,i give a hat tip,and my prayers...

an ace for the "Golden Bear"...

in the par three tourney at Augusta,75 year old "Golden Bear" Jack Nicklaus aced the 130 yard fourth hole,today... amazingly,it was his very first ace,at Augusta,for the six time Masters' champion... in an interview,beforehand,he joked with Scott Van Pelt about winning the par three tournament,and getting a hole in one... well,he got the hole in one!!!!!!

Kansas City Chiefs' safety Eric Berry has Hodgkins' lymphoma,and has three more treatments,and should recover,but honestly,who knows??? however,his family is happy with the progress that he has made... whether he plays NFL football,again,or not,is a question... my prayers go out to him and his family,in his recovery... i hope that he has a good life,no matter what he does,in life....

if the Packers repeat as NFC North Champions,they need help in the linebacking corps(definitely on the inside),and in the defensive backfield... the best general manager in the drafting of a team happens to be one Ted Thompson,which is the general manager of the Packers,because one of the best things in his portfolio,which says that most of the Packers who did play for the Packers were drafted by the Packers(highest percentage in the NFL of players,in that regard),last season... that will not change... why are the Packers four time defending NFC North Division champions??? you can say that Aaron Rodgers,Randall Cobb,and Jordy Nelson were drafted by the Packers... very true... Rodgers was passed over by 23 teams,in the 2005 NFL Draft,before being drafted by the Packers(a mistake that all NFL teams who passed him over that they regret,even now),and Randall Cobb ran a punt back a NFL record-tying 108 yards,as a rookie,against the New Orleans Saints,in his first game,opening week,in 2011... Jordy Nelson may have a connection to Rodgers that they may be joined at the hip,(laughing)(the best passer/wide receiver combination on the back shoulder pass,in the NFL,without a doubt)... however,general manager Ted Thompson drafted all three,and re-signed all three players,and that gives the Packers the edge,in the NFC North Division...
