commentary...

in the NFL right now, there is not much news, except for trades and signings,of players... the Packers have been silent in free agency, signing no one,so far, which does suck,if you are a fan, because you want to "hype" the team, being active in free agency, but the Packers' organization may seem like hearing crickets,or snoozing, but they have signed some of their own players, like linebacker Brad Jones, but fans may be frustrated in the seeming lack of free agent activity,by the Packers... the rest of the NFC North have signed many free agents, but honestly the Bears(their front defensive seven,),the Lions(their defensive backfield),and the Vikings(their quarterback situation, mostly, and offensive line) have not improved a great deal,to deal with the overall talent of the Packers... the Packers really do have weaknesses,on defense, and offense:need a dominant pass rusher, alongside Clay Matthews, and they need depth on the offensive line(and Aaron Rodgers needs to release the football a little quicker to avoid some coverage sacks,(laughing)... only Detroit has a quarterback(Matthew Stafford) that can throw like Rodgers, but can the Lions' team defense(minus defensive end Cliff Avril) stop the top teams from scoring 25-30 points a game... Lions' receiver Calvin Johnson, and running back Reggie Bush, can score only so many points... the Bears have lost three of last year's defensive ends, via free agency, and linebacker Brian Urlacher will not be in Chicago, after thirteen years, playing defense for the Bears... the Vikings have a very young, but talented defensive backfield, like the Packers, but the problem with the Vikings is on the offensive side of the football, because of the inconsistency of quarterback Christian Ponder, and getting Matt Cassel(from Kansas City) does not help the situation, when Cassel has been 29-33,as a NFL starter... Ponder is very talented, but last year, without running back Adrian Peterson rushing for 2,097 yards, the Vikings would have been in trouble(and had trouble in moving the football down the field through the air),and yet,the addition of wide receiver Greg Jennings should help that, but how much is the $64,000 question for the Vikings, when they have only one certified deep threat(Jennings)the fact that Jennings has been injury-prone over the last two seasons(and the loss of Percy Harvin,to Seattle)may came back to bite the Vikings,in the backsides... so the NFC North will be interesting to watch, this upcoming season...
